I took one last satisfied look at Kyou's face. Her body didn't move, but her face, her beautiful face, seemed to glow. Her red cheeks and pale mouth gave off a blissful smile. She was divine, charming. I'd arranged to meet her in another life, but alas, here I was, stuck in the company of my husband.
I was holding the pills through the left sleeve of my sweater, walking to another bed.
This time, Taylor was my victim, but Jassmine would suffer far more.
I wasn't going to kill him, though. I was just going to place this harmless box of pills next to him.
And under his pillow was the murder weapon that took my poppy flower's life.
The deceased wasn't called Kyou ; for me, she will always be my Japanese poppy, my Hinageshi.
I rested my head, finally relieved of the burden of Kyou's misfortune.
After a peaceful night, the other two survivors in the room awoke before me. When I opened my eyes, I saw them huddled together.
"Finally, the little criminal woke up," Taylor said.
Jassmine pinched him to make him stop.
"Are you really afraid of her? Are you? really!? I just want to know why we're so afraid of this golden-eyed killer. I have to tell the truth! She's the one behind it all." Taylor approached me, but Jassmine stopped him.
"Leave her alone," she said, crying with her remaining eye.
He wiped away her princess's tears and cradled her in his hands.
"Don't worry, Jassmine, your other eye is safe," I said before looking at Kyou one last time.
"What's wrong with the Chinese girl? Why isn't she waking up?" Taylor said, glaring at me.
Jassmine was shaking her violently. She still hates her even though she stole her joy.
The more she shook the dead girl's body, the darker her face seemed to become.
She brought her face close to Kyou's nose.
Then she began to tremble before she fell from the Japanese girl's bed.
With her mouth open, her eyes wide and her hand over her heart, Jassmine began to scream.
More screams to signal bad news to our orphanage volunteers.
The shock of the incident swept through the orphanage. Distraught volunteers quickly called for an ambulance and the police. Sirens blared as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.
Police officers and ambulance drivers arrived, their presence bringing sudden and intense attention to the situation. The police began their investigation, first inspecting our dormitory, while the paramedics transported Kyou's body.
I was glad to see her sleeping for eternity.
The atmosphere in the orphanage became heavy with fear and uncertainty. The policemen grab Taylor with both hands. Jassmine nods her head to say no as she cries and follow them. This area is so relaxing. The atmosphere made me smile until my teeth showed.
