Chapter Six

Jin stood in front of the door and pressed the doorbell. Jungkook had sent him a code and instructed him to enter his condo, but he felt uneasy about doing so. Instead, he would rather have Jungkook personally open the door for him.

Impatiently, he pressed the bell a second time, his finger lingering on the button as he anxiously waited. The passing moments seemed to stretch on indefinitely as he stood there. After waiting another five minutes, he was on the verge of pressing the doorbell again. Just as he was about to ring it again, the door suddenly swung open with a forceful pull, revealing a disheveled Jungkook standing before him. He appeared to have just woken up, as evidenced by his tousled hair and the fact that he was only wearing his boxers.

Jin's gaze traveled across Jungkook's figure, carefully observing the well-defined contours of his muscular body. His eyes lingered on the chiseled abs, the sculpted biceps, and the broad chest, appreciating the impressive display of strength and fitness. As he became aware of his strange behavior, as he had been fixated on Jungkook, and in an effort to break the tension, he rubbed his eyes as though something had gotten into them.

Then, slowly, he looked toward Jungkook, and as their eyes met, Jin noticed Jungkook's relaxed posture, leaning against the doorframe with one hand casually resting on it. Jungkook returned his gaze with a smile and said, "Good morning to you, too, Seokjin."

"Good afternoon, Jungkook." Jin responded, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he looked away.

With a playful smile, Jungkook emitted a soft chuckle, stepping aside to create a path for Jin to enter his home. Jin cautiously inhaled as he stepped over the threshold; upon entering, he immediately followed the customary practice of taking off his shoes. While he removed a pair of slippers from his bag, positioning them on the floor before sliding his feet into them.

"I have slippers for guests-"

"I prefer my own," Jin responded, interrupting Jungkook's words.

Jungkook arched his brow as he observed Jin looking away from him. "You can follow me," he said as he walked away.

Jin obediently followed Jungkook's lead, walking a few steps behind him. As they moved forward, his curiosity got the better of him, prompting him to reach for his phone. With a glance, he realized no new messages were waiting for him. As he pocketed his phone, his thoughts drifted to thinking of the time difference.

"What do you want to eat?"

Jin's attention had been so engrossed in his thoughts that he hadn't even realized they had come to a stop. Only when Jungkook posed a question did his mind return to the present moment. As he glanced around the kitchen, he couldn't help but be struck by the impeccable atmosphere. The cleanliness of the space was impressive, surpassing his initial expectations. However, a realization dawned on him - Jungkook's fame meant he had someone dedicated to maintaining such immaculate surroundings.

"Did you hear what I said?" Jungkook was perplexed as he glanced at Jin, wondering why the latter was not replying to him. He then approached Jin, his presence commanding attention as he positioned himself directly in front of Jin, their eyes locking. "I can't help but wonder why you are responding when I ask you a question. It appears your mind is preoccupied with something else, and I don't like it. Since you are here with me in my home, I want your thoughts to also be present, here with me, inside my home."

Jin instinctively moved backward, creating distance between their bodies as they had been standing too close. He paused to collect himself and inhaled deeply, saying, "I am sorry and thank you, but I already ate before arriving here. If you lead me to your closet, I can assist you in selecting an outfit for tonight's event and then leave, as I don't want to take up too much of your time."

"I must eat first. Since you are not hungry, you can sit and wait until I am done." Jungkook stated, clearly irritated by Jin's response.

Jin was on the verge of replying to Jungkook when he suddenly felt a vibration from his phone. Recognizing the caller, he offered Jungkook a courteous smile and asked, "May I please use your bathroom?"

"There is one around the corner, down the hall to your right. Don't go anywhere else or take pictures of anything. I have cameras installed everywhere and complete visibility over everything that happens."

Jin nodded, saying, "I won't do that, and thank you." He quickly turned and headed towards the bathroom.

After entering the bathroom, he immediately shut the door behind him and reached into his bag for his phone so that he could get in touch with Chungjae.

When Chungjae answered, he immediately asked Jin, "Are you at work?"

"Hey, yes, I am. How are you doing? It's late there, right?"

"You noticed when you were home that you never missed picking up my calls when I called. Now, you are at that place where you are missing my calls. I already feel replaced and don't like it, Seokjin."

"I am sorry; it was not deliberate that I missed your call," Jin heaved a sigh before saying, "And please don't say that. I don't ever think like that when you are traveling, or I see pictures online." Jin whispered the last part as he reflected on the pictures he had seen the previous night.

"He is a friend of mine. Do you understand that I am allowed to have friends?"

"I know I didn't say you weren't. I just-"

"I also warned you not to trust everything you see on the internet, so why are you even looking at the things you should know better? The media will publish anything that can generate views and a story. I supposed you already knew this, Seokjin, but just in case... Do you have any reason to distrust me? Are you unsure about how committed I am to being with you?" Chungjae inquired while displaying signs of annoyance.

"No, Jae. You are taking this out of context. I- forget it. It doesn't matter." Jin said. He was already feeling dejected and regretted ever saying anything.

On the other end of the telephone, Chungjae yelled, "I don't like this between us recently. You have been behaving entirely differently since you started working at that job. Now that you are searching the internet for photographs of me, you are believing lies-"

"What are you talking about? Jae, please stop. I in no way implied that I believed anything. My comment was only a comment. If you were in the company of a friend, then you were in the company of a friend. I don't have any reason to disbelieve what you say."

"Good, and I'm sorry if I came off as irritated; I just genuinely miss you. Please hang on for a while." Chungjae said, and after that, he placed Jin on hold for a few minutes before getting back on the line. "I am back. As I was saying before, I think about you often, and I regret how I left things between us after I did. If my job weren't so demanding on me right now, I would love to come home and spend some quality time with you."

"I know, and it's okay; I understand," Jin said as he stared at the floor.

"What did you eat for breakfast?"

"I had coffee, and then I had a smoothie."

"Sounds good, and for lunch?"

"I haven't had lunch yet but I will eat something soon."

"Oh, okay. Just make sure to have lunch. It would be best if you didn't skip meals. I suggest preparing a salad to bring along with you when you go to that place. What about dinner? What are you planning on having?"

"I am not sure. I have to go to an event tonight for work, so I believe I may eat something there, or I don't know, it depends," Jin said while nibbling on his upper lip.

"I am sorry, did you say an event tonight for work?"

"Yes. I found out about it yesterday."

Chungjae, on the other end of the line, remained silent, followed by a deep and audible sigh.

"Seokjin, what kind of event is that?"

"I don't know much about it; it's a dinner event. I will find out the details and send it to you." Jin expressed and began feeling overwhelmed.

"I am not thrilled that you are attending an event I was unaware of, particularly when I am not there. Seokjin, I have a reputation, and as my fiance, I hope you can recognize and take it into account.

Since you are not merely engaged to just anyone, I cannot allow you to stroll aimlessly wandering around at random events. Will the media be there, and what do you intend to wear?

I need to see pictures of whatever you are contemplating wearing, as well as the specifics so that I can evaluate whether or not this is an event that you need to be attending."

Aware of a knot in his throat, Jin drew a long breath before closing his eyes and said, "Okay. I will share those with you. I have to return to work now, so let's talk later. I love you."

"I am not done talking, though. That job is not that important. My mother phoned and informed me that she had not heard from you in the previous week, which has caused her to believe that you are becoming cold toward her. Why is that, Seokjin, and don't even try to convince me that it's because of that job!"

"I will call her when I leave work."

"Make certain. I do a lot for your parents; phoning my mother is the least you can do, don't you think?"

Tears welled up in Jin's eyes as he nodded, "I understand, and you didn't need to mention it." I am extremely thankful for everything you have done for my parents, particularly my mother. I will call your mom to say hi."

"Extend an invitation to her for lunch and spend some time with her. Do you understand what I'm trying to say, Seokjin?" When Chungjae spoke, he did it with an authoritative voice.

"Okay, Jae, I will."

"Thank you, baby. I miss you."

"When I walk into my bathroom, I hope everything is still in order." As Jin returned to the kitchen, Jungkook said that while focusing on adding the last component to his lunch.

Jin's lips curved into a barely noticeable smile, hinting at his inner thoughts and emotions. However, he remained silent, burdened by the weight of numerous thoughts occupying his mind.

"Come sit here; let's talk while I eat." Jungkook made a gesture with his hand, signaling Jin to join him at the table in the kitchen.

As Jin approached Jungkook's seat, he was taken aback by the delightful aroma of the food. Glancing at Jungkook's plate, he couldn't help but notice an appealing serving of fried rice accompanied by various unidentified ingredients.

"Are you sure you don't want any?"

"No. I am good. I already ate."

"Eating twice is not a problem, but if you have any doubts about my cooking skills, let me assure you that I am a skilled cook, and I don't share my food with many people. It's your loss if you choose not to try it.

In any case, I won't argue with you about it because I have other pressing matters that pique my curiosity when it comes to you." Jungkook spoke and then proceeded to eat a large bite of food.

Jin made an effort to avoid looking at him as he ate. "What are you curious about?"

"Everything, but first, let me start by clarifying." Jungkook's voice trailed off as he stopped speaking, locking eyes with Jin. He confessed, "I feel a strong attraction towards you. To put it plainly, I want you, Seokjin."

Jin's eyes were filled with surprise as he glanced over at Jungkook. Jungkook's words left him utterly shocked due to their boldness. It took him a while to process his response and say, "I am currently in a committed relationship and planning to get married."

"I am uninterested in what you are in and what you have planned, as it does not affect my desire for you. I intend to pursue you actively. In the end, we will assess the level of commitment you have towards your so-called fiance."

"Are you crazy? How can you even think like that? I would never cheat!"

A mischievous glimmer danced in Jungkook's eyes as a chuckle escaped his lips. "Who said anything about cheating? You will leave him and come to me; it's that simple."

"Do you have your head screwed on straight?" Because Jin had never encountered anybody like Jungkook, he reasoned that this must be true.

"I have no idea; please enlighten me. What's so terrible about it that I want you, Seokjin?"

"I am engaged!"

"Right, and that seems to be the issue with why I don't have you right now; therefore, let's work together to fix that. Break up with him."

"What?" Jin yelled, baffled by Jungkook's request. "I don't think you are sane. I am not going to break up with my fiance."

"You do not need to do anything since I can do it for you. I am willing to do that if it would help things go forward more quickly.

As I've already said, I am drawn to you and want to be with you. I am unsure how much you know about me, Seokjin, but I am determined to gain what I want. I will not give up until I have you as well."

"Jungkook," said Jin with a sigh, "I am not an item. I am also engaged to be married to someone. Let's give each other the respect we deserve for a productive and cordial working relationship. I look forward to continuing my employment with the company since I find this position interesting."

"You are not an item, and I have never viewed you as one," Jungkook clarified. "On the other hand, you are someone I want, and nothing can change that.

Also, continuing your employment with the company while being with me would not be affected. Since I am not him, I do not object to the fact that you want to work. I am more interested in pursuing a guy driven to achieve his goals and earn his own than depend on what I have."

Jin gave a dismissive shake of the head and said, "I have no intention of listening to this. The only reason you find yourself drawn to me is likely the desire to have sex with me, and-"

"I don't believe that's the only thing that makes me interested in you," Jungkook said. "However, we still have the opportunity to put your theory to the test right now. Do you want to have sex, Seokjin?" Jungkook questioned while maintaining his fixation on Jin.
