Chapter 73: The impostor
(Ravine POV)
I went inside the five-star hotel and looked for the function room where the art exhibit is happening. Luckily, the concierge was able to point me towards the right direction. Once I saw the sign "Crayon Svenson Gonzales's Art Exhibit", I quickly went inside and looked for Leon and Cry.
"Hey there, Vinny!" Cry said before greeting me with a warm hug.
"Hi! Am I late?" I asked.
"No, you're just in time, no worries!" Cry smiled.
"Where's Leon?"
"Leon has a lunch meeting with David Beckham right now so unfortunately, he's not going to be here but he did say he's going to try to attend my art show if his lunch ends early." Cry replied.
"Okay."
"You start observing my art over there because that is how I designed it to look." Cry said, who's quite particular about his methods.
"Alrighty! I will, thank you for having me again." I said before going towards the direction he asked me to go to. There, I observed his first artwork. As I busied myself admiring Cry's masterpieces, I couldn't help but notice a young gentleman at my side who looks oddly familiar.
I went nearer so I can observe his face and my eyes are popping out right now from what I am seeing. It can't be. He has the same skin complexion as him, he has the same height as him, he has the same hair color as him, he has the same face shape as him. I couldn't be wrong about it. It must be him then.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"Yes?" He said before turning to face me.
"Oh my God! Troy, is that you?" I asked.
"I beg your pardon?" He raised a brow. He looks exactly the same as Troy but just a little bit older.
"I'm sorry. It's just that...you look exactly like my friend who passed away a long time ago. I mean exactly the same. I know he can't be you but oh boy, you so look like him." I told him.
"Thanks, I guess." He said in confusion.
"Oh, you've met Tree over here?" Cry said to me.
"Tree?" I asked.
"Tree, he is a good friend of Leon and he's currently an FBI trainee. Tree, I'd like you to meet my friend, Ravine. Ravine, I'd like you to meet Tree." Cry said before I shook hands with Tree, also known as Troy's impostor.
"Nice to meet you." I said.
"He told me that I look like his dead friend." Tree said to Cry.
"No, you really do actually. The resemblance is so crystal clear. I don't know if Troy has a long lost brother or something but if he does, it must be you, right?" I said.
"Hmm...interesting! I'll leave you two for a while to get acquainted. I have to entertain some arriving guests." Cry said before leaving me with Tree.
"I'm sorry. This is so weird but it really is a pleasure to meet you." I said trying to break the awkwardness I created.
"You just won an Oscar right?" Tree asked.
"I did." I said.
"The Forgotten Fairy?" Tree said.
"Yup! Did you like it?" I asked Tree.
"It's not my genre but it's quite good actually." Tree said in a very masculine and husky voice. Unlike Troy, Tree is quite of an Alpha male just by looking at his stance and posture. He looks very self-assured, confident and assertive. My guess is he's straight but you never know. There are a lot of masculine guys who are gay so I can't judge his sexual orientation solely on his looks and traits.
"Who are you with?" I asked.
"I was planning to bring my wife and children with me but knowing how they are, they'd just get bored, you know?" Tree replied.
"I see, they don't appreciate art that much?" I asked.
"Not really."
"We should go out sometimes, you know? I'd like you to meet Gwen, my best friend and who's also Troy's best friend. She would get shell shocked if she sees Troy's reincarnation." I joked.
"Yeah, we should." He said.
The rest of my stay in the art exhibit was very pleasant and it was more entertaining than I thought it would be, considering I just made a new friend. After a few hours, I had to bid farewell to him, whether I like it or not because I still have to pick up my kids. Of course, we traded each other's numbers for future nightcaps and stuff like that. Gwen will be so elated once she sees him for sure.
Anyway, as I was driving my way to my children's school, I received a call from Sofia Coppola who wants to move our meeting today, making it a last minute decision. I panicked for a bit and called Selene for assistance.
"Hello Selene?"
"Hi Sir Vinny!"
"Yes, would you mind calling Ronald, my part-time driver? Tell him it's an emergency. Tell him to pick up Roman and Ally at school." I said.
"Sir Vinny! Didn't Ronald inform you that he will be out of town for the rest of the week to spend time with his family?" Selene reminded me.
"Oh my gosh! You're right! Fuck! How do I solve this mess?" I said in a frazzled tone.
"Do you want me to ask our neighbor, Mr. Winston to pick up your kids?" Selene asked.
"No! Don't ever ask anything from that bigot! He hates me." I said.
"Then what are we going to do for your kids to be picked up? They can't wait for hours for you, can they?" Selene said.
Shit! Ugh...the disadvantage of being a single parent is working against me right now. How will I make this work?
