Chapter 60: Unexpected guests
(Ravine POV)
Sometime after our thesis presentation, that's when Sylvia finally passed. It upset me so much because I wasn't with her at that time due to school responsibilities. However, it made me feel good that we enjoyed the rest of her remaining days merrily.
I am at her wake right now, entertaining our guests and our loved ones. Sylvia would want us to do this of course.
"Milo, go ask them over there if they want some cookies." I said to Milo before giving him a tray of white chocolate chip, raspberry cookies for him to serve to some elderly people at the couch.
Meanwhile, I brought a tray of tea cups to some of Sylvia's relatives at the living room and they thanked me graciously. As I was busy conversing with some of them, the door opened and a bunch of unexpected guests came in. It was revealed to be Sash, J.T., Clare and Fides.
I was so pleasantly surprised.
"Excuse me for a while." I said to some relatives before going over to my friends. I hugged every single one of them before asking them what they are doing here.
"Do you really think we won't be here for you?" Sash asked.
"You didn't need to, you know." I said softly. My eyes then fell on the most unexpected guest tonight which is Fides.
"Hi! You must be Ravine." She said before lending her hand out for a shake.
"Yes, I am." I said before shaking her hand.
"Mikey told me so much about you. My deepest condolences by the way."
"Thank you so much." I said to her before grabbing Sash's wrist and pulling him to the side to ask him something.
"Where are you guys staying right now?" I asked him.
"We found a cozy rental nearby your house. You need not to worry, we'll be fine." He said to me.
"You guys can crash here if you want." I said to him.
"No, it's okay, Vinny! We won't stay that long anyway. The day after tomorrow, we'll fly back to the Philippines because we still have some things to do." J.T. said.
"I can stay if you want me to." Sash said.
"Would you?" I asked.
"Of course!"
Suddenly, dad approached me to see how I am doing so I introduced him to every single one of my friends.
"Dad, meet my friends who flew all the way here to pay respect. This is Clare, J.T., Fides and Sash." I said.
"Hi, I'm Roy, I am Ravine's dad. Pleasure to meet all of you." He said before shaking hands with every single one of them. I noticed some guests staring at Fides and Sash, most probably because of the fact that they are quite famous now.
"Dad, this is Sash and we have been dating for almost three years now." I said.
"Lovely meeting you, sir! Ravine has told me so many amazing things about you and Sylvia." Sash said.
"Wow! Well then, make yourselves at home. Ravine's friend is always my friend." He said before attending to some of the guests that are arriving.
"Come on, let's head over to the dining room. It's too crowded here." I said before accompanying them. We all sat at the dining table and began chatting when Sash asked where the toilet is.
"It's upstairs. I'll walk you up." I said before going with him and pointing towards the left side of the hall. I waited for him to finish when all of a sudden, Milo began running upstairs.
"Hey champ! What are you doing here?" I asked.
"We're out of cookies!" He said.
"There's some in the cupboard. Get it from there." I told my little stepbrother and before he can make his way down, Sash exited the comfort room which made Milo curious who that handsome guy is.
"Vinny, who is that?" He asked.
"That's my boyfriend, Sash!" I smiled. Sash went to Milo and ruffled his head.
"Hey, little buddy! Your brother is right. You are really adorable and you're a brave kid. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I am sorry about what happened to your mom." Sash said to him.
"Don't be! She's always with me. It's just that I can't see her. Look, she gave me this locket. Isn't it pretty?" Milo bragged.
"It is very pretty!" Sash said.
"Come on, let's all go downstairs already. Dad's probably thinking where we are." I said to both of them before going downstairs altogether.
"Vinny!" Dad called.
"Yes?"
"Gwen's here!"
My eyes widened and the minute I heard that name, I rushed all the way to the entrance to give her a big hug.
"Gwen!" I yelled.
"Vinny!" She said before hugging me tightly and I hugged her tighter. My God, how I have missed my partner in crime.
"I can't believe it. I can't believe she's gone. She's been a good mother figure to you, I know it." She told me.
"She was." I told her while Sash is looking at us curiously.
"Gwen, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend, Sash!"
"Sash, nice to finally meet the guy that my best friend is crazy for." Gwen joked before shaking hands with him.
"Gwen, nice to meet you! Ravine has been raving about you all the time." Sash smiled.
My God, I can't even express the gratefulness that I feel right now. The amount of guests that turned up is overwhelming. The amount of people that came to the house to pay respect to Sylvia goes to show that Sylvia really is a good person. It spoke volumes with how she is and how she treats people.
