Chapter 47: You're not required
Heartthrob Sash above^
(Sash POV)
After the Burnham boat ride and buying fresh strawberries, Ravine and I saw that there's an outdoor cinema at a random park, exclusively for couples and we decided to give it a go. I saw the view and it looks very chill and laid-back. Some brought their own picnic blanket while others brought their own deckchairs. However, Ravine and I don't really mind if we have to sit on the grass because of our excitement towards the movie marathon. They're airing "Roman Holiday" and "Anastasia" afterwards.
Once we made ourselves comfortable on the grass, Ravine laid his head on my shoulder as the movie began.
The entire time the movie was screening, no one dared to make any noise at all. We are all laser-focused on the film itself, to the point that we didn't even notice that it's already growing dark.
By the end of "Roman Holiday", I hear sniffles beside me and it's Ravine. This is the scene wherein Audrey Hepburn is saying goodbye to Gregory Peck because she has duties to fulfill as a royal and she couldn't give it up for him.
"This is so heartbreaking." He whispered and I kissed his head.
After the final scene had ended and the credits rolled, everyone began applauding. Some have already left after the first film while others decided to stay for one more viewing. Ravine and I decided to watch "Anastasia", which features Ingrid Bergman and Yul Brynner.
I looked at Ravine and he was so fixated on every scene to the point of me assuming that he doesn't even want to blink anymore, in fear of missing something.
"She must be the real Anastasia, right? I bet she is." Ravine whispered.
"Who knows?" I replied.
The movie went on and we got completely hooked to it because of how interesting the plot is. Ravine kept making silent comments to himself.
"Look, it's Helen Hayes." He said and I snickered due to his adorableness.
As the film reached its finale, I quickly tried to observe Ravine's reaction. He leaned to the front a little and he licked his lips in anticipation of what's going to happen.
"Oh my God! The queen let Anastasia go so she can live happily ever after with Bounine. Am I right?" Ravine smiled.
"Looks like you are." I said to him.
"Aw, it's a happy ending. I love it so much." Ravine said and I couldn't stifle my laugh anymore. I just had to because of how cute he is. It really warms my heart to see his inner child trait come out in these little moments.
The credits rolled so Ravine and I finally made our way back to the hotel to rest and freshen up a little.
"What do you think?" I asked.
"The movies are the complete opposite of each other." Ravine told me.
"Why?"
"Can't you see? 'Roman Holiday' features a Princess who refused her true love just to fulfill her duties to the throne while Anastasia chose to be with General Bounine in the end, rather than stay and be a royal along with her Empress grandmother." He said cleverly.
"Wow! I never thought about that." I said to Ravine before giving him a high five.
It didn't take us more than fifteen minutes to reach our hotel and as soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the polite concierge followed by a group of hotel staff. We made our way up to our room and as soon as we opened the door, we inhaled the fresh scent of lavender that the housekeeper probably put while we were out.
"I'm going to take a shower and I'll call for room service so that we can have our dinner here." I said to Ravine.
"Go for it." He replied.
(Ravine POV)
I was standing at the balcony again, trying to contact dad on my phone. After waiting patiently, I finally heard his voice.
"Hello?"
"Hi dad!" I said.
"Vinny! I thought you're going to come home this week?" He asked.
"There's a weather trouble back in Manila so all flights got delayed." I claimed.
"Oh, well, I hope you're doing well out there with Sash...if I am not mistaken?" Dad said.
"Yeah, I'm with him. We are in Baguio and he toured me the entire day, it was awesome. I was in awe of everything here." I gushed.
"I am glad he did that. He seems like a nice guy. Anyway, I just thought you should know. Gwen passed by our house two days ago. She said she misses you so much and I think you should give her a call." Dad said.
"Oh yeah. I haven't talked to her for a long time. I guess I have been a little busy with studies." I said.
"Here's Milo by the way." Dad said before handing the phone over to Milo.
"Hello, Ravine?" Milo said.
"Hey Buddy, how are you doing?" I asked.
"I thought you're coming home this week?" He said.
"Yeah, my flight was cancelled due to the storm. You wouldn't want me to get on a plane and for the plane to crash because of the heavy rain, would you?" I asked him jokingly.
"I guess not." He said innocently.
"Don't worry, I'll buy you some toys to make it up to you when I get back." I assured him.
"Really?"
"Yep, what do you want then?" I asked.
"Can you buy me a Captain America action figure?" He said.
"Sure bud! I'll even buy you his costume if you'd like."
"You lie!" He said.
"No, I would. I promise. I never break my promises to you, right? You're my favorite brother, remember?" I said.
"I guess."
"Hahaha, okay, bud! Tell your mom, I said Hi, okay? I am going to hang up now. See you soon." I said.
"See you, bye!" Milo said before hanging up.
I then felt Sash's arms wrap around my waist and his chin resting on my shoulder.
"Who was that?" He whispered.
"My little stepbrother. He's asking why I didn't come home." I replied.
"Oh..."
I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling of coziness in his arms. His breath tickling my neck and the warmth of his unclothed torso are enough to send me to a state of euphoria.
"I love you, Ravine!" He said and I couldn't believe what I just heard.
"Are you sure already?" I asked.
"More than sure!"
I don't know if I can say it yet. What happened to keeping your guard up, huh? What happened to being careful who you trust? What happened to not attaching myself emotionally to people?
"I..."
"Don't worry, you're not required to say it yet if you're not ready." Sash whispered.
"Thank you for your understanding." I said to him, while Sash never bothered to let me go. I was still in his arms and I don't know how long we have been like this but who cares? I just lived in the moment and enjoyed his embrace.
