Chapter 37: J.T.

Jamie Taylor above

(Ravine POV)

I am currently writing my wedding vows for Sash in a coffee shop. I still couldn't fucking believe that I have to do this mess that I got myself into and the worst part is that it's not even my fault. It's Clare's.

Miss Lopez also said that we have to mean it. How the fuck am I supposed to mean it? Should I say "Oh Sash, wherefore art thou, Sash!" It's so fucking stupid. I have a crush on him but that doesn't mean that I have to say "I would cross the scorching desert and climb Mountains just to be with you." Ugh...just thinking about it is enough to make me cringe and puke.

Anyway, as I was trying to come up with something creative, Jamie-Taylor and Clare entered the coffee shop.

"Hi there!" Clare said as she sat down next to me.

"What do you want?" I said as I continued my writing, and not even looking at her.

"Still mad about what I did, I see." Clare said.

"What is it you want? Just say it because I am kind of busy over here, trying to write cheesy wedding vows because of the mess you created." I sassed.

"Clare, it seems like he's not really in the mood. Maybe I can just talk to him some other time." Jamie-Taylor whispered to Clare.

"No! It's okay. You can sit down. I'm sorry, I'm just a little annoyed with my friend over here. I don't think we have properly met yet, though. Hi! I'm Ravine!" I said before shaking hands with her.

"Hi! I am..."

"Jamie-Taylor, I know you because of your attentiveness in class." I laughed.

"Yes, I'm Jamie-Taylor, just call me J.T. for short." She said before taking a seat.

"Alright, J.T. Well, based on what I heard, you need to talk to me about something, right?" I stated.

"Yeah, um...you see, I am actually in charge of renting a tux for our mock wedding project but my mother is actually a brilliant seamstress and she insisted on making you guys your own personal tuxedos." J.T. said and my jaw dropped.

"Really? Your mom would do that. Surely, she won't do it for free right? I'm willing to pay her." I said.

"No, it's okay! She said she'd do anything she can just to help our school project." J.T. said.

"No please! I have to pay her for the effort that she's going to put for my tux. Please, just let me. It's the least that I can do." I insisted.

"Well...okay, if you insist." J.T. said.

"Great! J.T. is actually here to have your measurements and she's also going to ask you if you want a particular design for your tuxedo." Clare said.

"Well, I assume your mother has been doing this for a long time now, right?" I asked J.T.

"Of course!"

"Then I am going to trust in her magic. I am going to leave the design up to her so she can surprise me." I said.

"Really? Are you sure you don't want to make any suggestions or requests?" J.T asked.

"Nope!" I answered.

"Alright! We're going to make it really pretty and androgynous just like you." J.T complimented.

"Gee, thanks!" I blushed. She then took out her tailor's tape measure for her to finally take note of my measurements. I stood up so she can take her time measuring my body for my future tux. As soon as she's done, I sat back down and she pocketed the tape measure and returned her notebook in her knapsack.

"There we have it. Thank you again for your time. I guess I better go now. It seems like you and Clare still have some friendly talk to do." J.T. said but I stopped her.

"Hey! You can stay if you want to or if you have free time, you know. You don't have to be in such a hurry unless you have some place to be." I said.

"Oh, are you sure you wouldn't mind?" She asked.

"No, no! Come on, have a seat!" I said and she ended up complying.

"J.T is also a part-time fashion designer, Ravine." Clare said.

"Really now?"

"Oh, I guess you can put it that way. I would sometimes help my mom with sewing dresses and suits and stuff like that. I would also sketch some clothes for her. Oftentimes, my nieces would always describe to me what their dream dresses should look like and I would draw it for them and I would give it to my mom so she could sew it for her granddaughters. Then we would gift those to them on their birthdays." J.T. said.

"Sounds like you have the number one mother!" I said.

"I do! I love her and I would give her the best of everything because she deserves it. How about you, how's your relationship with your mom?" She asked me.

"Um, it's quite a hard topic to discuss." I replied.

"Oh, I am sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

"No, stop saying sorry! Of course, you're curious. Everybody is. Let's just say we don't really get along that much." I said.

"I see." J.T. said.

"Should we change topic?" Clare said.

"Yeah, let's." I said.

"By the way, before I forget, are you in charge of everybody's clothes or is it just the wedding couple's clothes you have to take care of?" Clare asked J.T.

"Just the wedding couple's. The rest of our classmates could either rent their own or re-use some of their high school prom clothes if it still fits them." J.T. said.

"I hope the venue committee is now taking care of some requirements such as buying the fabric, white Christmas lights and ribbons." Clare added. "We have to transform the classroom into an ethereal wonder, almost as if we are inside Van Gogh's painting 'The Starry Night'."

"Exactly! Mary Jane said that they're on their way to the market to buy some materials. They are also going to buy some wood, blue paint and glitters for them to make the arch in which the wedding couple shall pass through." J.T said.

"Speaking of wedding couple, have you already asked Sash about his measurements and how he likes his tux to look?" I asked.

"I did already. Same as you, he didn't really request anything special. He just said a regular tux would do but of course, we wouldn't make it regular looking. You both have to stand out." J.T. said.

"I expect nothing less from your amazing mother seamstress." I said.
