Chapter 23: You all think it's my fault now?

(Ravine POV)

I woke up with a strong and intense headache. Ugh...hangover! I knew it. I rolled to the empty side of the bed and found that Craig already left. I got a little bit sad because deep down, I wanted him to stay with me for a while.

All of a sudden, Craig came in with a tray of breakfast food.

"Good morning!" He greeted with a charming grin and I smiled from ear to ear. He laid down the tray next to me so it will be more convenient for me to eat it without being uncomfortable.

"I made them myself. Crispy bacon with garlic fried rice, French toast, soft boiled egg and a fresh orange juice, and I cooked them just the way you like them." He said.

I began digging in, unrestrained and in a starved manner. I guess I got hungry after all the drama that I caused at the prom last night. Though, I couldn't even remember some of it. How the fuck did it even start?

"Craig, would you care to tell me what happened last night?" I asked him.

"You mean, you don't remember how it all happened?" Craig said.

"I do remember some but not everything."

"Ravine, it's not important anymore. You don't need to know." He said.

"But I do want to know." I said.

Craig finally gave up and told me everything. "You were very drunk last night and when Ms. Ampy was about to announce who the prom king is, you came up the stage and started..." He stopped as he is obviously having a hard time trying to find a word for what I did.

"Causing a scene?" I said.

"Yeah, that! You started embarrassing Kendall and you brought up what happened between me and her in front of all the students. You called her a whore and then you moved on to Jacob and you have said a lot of things about him."

"Okay, I kind of regret what I did to Kendall but I don't feel the same way about what I did to Jacob. He deserved that." I said.

"Is it true?" Craig asked.

"Is what true?"

"That Jacob raped Troy when he was passed out?"

"It is true. All of it! It was all written in Troy's diary, every heinous things that Jacob did to Troy, it was all there in black and white." I told Craig.

"Ravine, I don't like to contradict you but how can you be so sure that what Troy had been writing is true?" Craig asked.

"Because Jacob wrote an apology letter after Troy's death. He left it on Troy's grave, thinking that nobody would recognize his handwriting. I recognized it because the last time I collected the homework assignments of my classmates, I immediately took notice of his handwriting because it is so ugly and it is strangely similar to the one that was on Troy's grave. I couldn't be wrong about it. Also, why the fuck would Troy invent something like that or make up stories about Jacob raping him in his diary? Use your brain, can't you see?  Jacob's totally busted right now. Why else would he run out of the gymnasium if he is not guilty? Huh? He's a dead man walking." I explained to my ex-boyfriend.

"Why didn't you take this knowledge to the police?" Craig said.

"Because we don't have any strong evidence yet but I know that what I am saying is true." I said as I assured him.

"Ravine!" Gwen barged inside my room, startling me and Craig.

"God! What is it? You scared the daylights out of me!" I said to Gwen.

"Jacob is dead." She said and I froze after hearing what came out of her mouth. Craig and I looked at each other as if we both lost our minds.

Holy fuck!

A little while later...

(Ravine POV)

My family and I are anxiously waiting in our living room for the current update regarding Jacob.

Oddly enough, I didn't really feel guilty or regretful for what I did to him at the prom. In a way, I was kind of overjoyed because I felt like I served Troy some justice.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and Sylvia answered it by opening the door. It's Gwen and she is now going to inform all of us about Jacob and the situation with the Denarii family.

"What's up?" I said.

"Okay, so I was at the hospital eavesdropping in the hallway when Jacob's mom and dad were busy talking to the doctor about Jacob's autopsy." She said.

"And?"

"Jacob was completely incinerated because of the car explosion. They couldn't even do a proper DNA profiling because his corpse is burnt to the extreme. According to what I heard, it is going to be impossible for the Forensic DNA Analysis to detect any usable DNA from Jacob's charred remains." Gwen said.

"So they won't be able to identify the body?" I asked.

"They don't need to. It is a hundred percent certain that it's Jacob. Apparently, his parents recognized his signature watch and the ring they gave to him for his birthday, which were both untouched by the explosion." Gwen responded. "You should have seen them, Ravine. They are so devastated and broken by their son's death."

"Then send them flowers." I said nonchalantly.

"Ravine, don't be like that." Craig scolded.

"Am I supposed to sit here and boohoo because of his death? No way! This is what you call poetic justice." I said.

All the people in the room are looking at me right now in disbelief and disgust for saying insensitive things to Jacob.

"What? You all think it's my fault now?" I asked.

"Nobody's saying that, Ravine." Dad said.

"But you're all looking and staring at me as if I fucking murdered someone right now. Was I the one driving the car? Was I with him when the car exploded?" I said.

"Can you just tone down those insensitive commentaries?" Gwen said.

"Why should I tone it down? Do not dare think that I will give him a pass just because he burned to death. That does not erase the fact that he still raped and bullied my friend. How the fuck did that car explode anyway?" I said.

"Well, according to his parents, from the way it looks like at the sight of accident, he crashed against a post sideway so that created a leak through the car's gas hole. Jacob, being an avid smoker that he is, got screwed big time. His cigarette may have ignited his entire vehicle up in flames." Gwen said.

"It must have been a very difficult moment for his parents." Sylvia said.

"Now, they know how it feels to be in Troy's parents' shoes." I replied coldly.

It may be a fucked up thing to say but in a way, I was a little bit satisfied, knowing that Jacob died in an excruciating and morbid way. That's what he gets for treating Troy like shit.

Karma is such a bitch. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
