Chapter 2: Dipping sauce
(3rd person POV)
Janet pulled over in front of Sister Rose's house and parked her car near the lawn. She took her homemade pie by one hand and as soon as she got out of the car, she slammed the door and clicked her keys to lock it.
She walked all the way to the doorstep and knocked on the door. After waiting for a few more minutes, Sister Rose opened the door with a disgusted look on her face.
"Good evening, sister! I'm ready for our potluck Bible study." She said with a pretentious pleasant smile on her face.
Sister Rose looked at her carefully and examined her face and for the first time, she saw right through Janet's black hearted soul.
"Go home. We don't want abusive mothers like you to come over anymore." She said with a sneer on her face.
"Sister Rose, I have no idea what you're talking about." Janet replied.
"Don't play dumb with me right now. I know what you did to your son." She said.
"No, I would never hurt my son. You know me."
"Do I really? Your son came over in our church last night, all bloodied and beaten up and said you did that to him."
"What? That's impossible. I cannot do those horrific things you're accusing me of. You know me, Sister Rose. I have been a church member for five years. Everybody knows I wouldn't even harm a fly." She pleaded pathetically.
"Yes, I do know. It's no secret in the neighborhood that you and your husband separated and you resorted to alcoholism for quite some time. Ravine said you reverted back to your old ways and became extremely hostile to him, just because he's gay."
"I have no problem with him being gay. I love him for who he is."
"Janet, stop lying to my face. We all know that you have an underlying bigotry in your heart. Whenever we say that you should support your children, no matter what their sexual orientation is, do you think I don't see the uncomfortable look on your face? Do you think I don't see the way you roll your eyes every time I mention the word 'gay'? You're a bigot and an abuser. You don't deserve to be in our church group."
"I did not hurt my son!" Janet started releasing those crocodile tears.
"So you're suggesting that Ravine did that to himself?"
"I'm not-"
"Just leave, Janet. Leave before my remaining respect for you depletes. Leave now, please." Sister Rose said before slamming the door to Janet's face.
Janet was so furious at Ravine. She remembered what her son said to her the night she struck him with her fist.
"This isn't over by a long shot."
Janet realized that Ravine fulfilled his promise of revenge against her. Ravine declared war on her abusive mother and now, she's shaking in her boots.
Later that night...
Janet barged in her son's room and launched a series of verbal tirades against him.
"You fucking fag! You really know how to fucking push my buttons, don't you?" She screamed.
"Oh...Mommy Dearest, face it! You've had that coming for a long time." Ravine said.
"You are a fucked up piece of shit! I didn't beat you up, you did that to yourself. I never touched you." She growled.
"Didn't you just punch me the other night though?" Ravine asked teasingly.
"You little..." She raised her hand to strike Ravine again, obviously but before she even could, he stopped her.
"Uh-uh-uh, don't make the situation worse, mother dear. If I were you, just walk away if you know what's good for you." He smiled.
She looked at Ravine and she's fuming with rage but she managed to contain herself and walk away from him successfully before slamming the door.
"1 point for Ravine, 0 point for Janet." He smirked.
The next day...
(Ravine POV)
I was getting something from my locker when lo and behold, Craig sneaked up on me.
"Hey there..." He stopped mid-sentence when he saw my bruised up face.
"What the fuck? Ravine, who did this to you?" He asked worriedly.
"None of your business, my gosh!" I said as I walked away from him.
He blocked my way, which only triggered my annoyance for him.
"Step aside, cheater!"
"Until when are you going to punish me for what I've done?" Craig asked.
"You mean when you and Kendall fucked?"
"It was just a one night stand, Ravine."
"I'm not punishing you. I just don't want to have anything to do with you anymore, Craig." I said in a cynical tone.
"Ravine, what do you expect? I have my needs that you are not really giving to me." Craig said and I raised a brow.
"Your needs? Is that the reason why you cheated on me? Because I wouldn't have sex with you? You are really faulting me for not being ready to give my virginity just like that?" I said.
"Ravine, cut the crap. Men like us love sex. Who doesn't?"
"You mean sex machines like you love sex. You see it as a form of leisure while I see it differently. You know what? That alone is one good enough reason for me to not take you back." I said before walking away from him. He grabbed me by my arm and I turned to face him.
"I'll be waiting. No matter how many times you drive me away, I will always be here for you. Remember that."
"Do whatever you want. I don't give a flying fuck anymore."
"Can you at least tell me who did that to you?" He said.
"Hmm...me, I did it to myself." I smiled and he looked at me in a confused manner.
During lunch break...
I was eating my lunch with Gwen and Troy when suddenly, Kendall sat at our table.
"I saw you talking to Craig this morning." She said to me.
"Is that any of your business?" I asked.
"Yes, since both he and I are dating, I have a right to know what you have been saying to him." She said while flipping her hair.
"Well, if you must know, I just said that I am not going to take him back anymore. There, satisfied?"
"Hmm...good. Now that you know your place, everyone's going to be at peace. Nice bruises, honey. I guess that's what fags deserve for meddling into someone's relationship." She said in a vile manner.
"Umm...you were the one who stole his boyfriend, you dumbass" Gwen commented.
"I have known Craig way longer than he did so he's mine."
"At least, I don't spread my legs that easily to strangers. Everybody knows that every guy here has tasted your pussy already, Kendall. I'd rather be a fag than to be a shameless dipping sauce of the entire football team like you." I retorted.
She glared at me with her clenched jaw and teary eyes before stomping her way out of the cafeteria.
"You did it again, Vinny!" Gwen laughed before giving me a high-five. I looked over at Troy and he seems very tired and...blue.
"Troy, are you alright?" I asked.
"Huh? I'm fine." He said.
"You haven't touched your food." Gwen said.
"I guess I'm just not that hungry."
"Is there anything wrong?" I asked as I pat his shoulder.
"No, I just...I guess I just have to finish my meal and give this paper to my friend." Troy said weakly.
"If there's anything we can do to help, let us know, okay?" I said.
