Chapter 17: I hate this school.
(Ravine POV)
I was holding an ice pack near my face when both Dad and Sylvia walked inside the clinic. Dad rushed over to me and asked what happened.
"Mom caused a scene in the cafeteria." I said.
"Maybe it's time for us to file a restraining order against her." Sylvia suggested.
"Sylvia, if I file a restraining order against my mom, people are just going to look at me as an ungrateful fag so no, thank you." I said.
"What if she tries to hurt you again?"
"At least, I can hold my own against her." I replied.
Craig and Gwen are still here sitting in the corner of the room. Dad quickly noticed both of them.
"Gwen, Craig! How are you both?" He asked.
"We're fine, sir! We're always being there for Ravine as much as possible." Gwen said which made Dad smile.
"Dad, I'm fine alright? You and Sylvia can go now if you want to. I still have to go to the principal's office to explain what happened back there." I said.
"Are you sure you don't want us to come with you?" He said.
"I'm fine. I can handle everything that comes to me." I said.
Later at the principal's office...
"Would you mind explaining how the situation escalated into something like that?" Ms. Ampy said.
"I've told you how much of an emotional wreck she is already. She's always like that. Every time I go home, she would yell at me and antagonize me for no reason and I have had it with her. I have been putting up with it for so long but now, it's time for me to fight back." I said.
"Sweetie, I understand but that is no way to treat your mother. She brought you here into this world. She raised you and she took care of you. No need to get physical with her." She said ignorantly.
"She raised me and she took care of me because that is her job. I don't owe her shit. She's the one who decided to have me in this world and now, people will stupidly say that I owe my life to her. I have said it before and I will say it again, I owe her nothing and she doesn't own me. I hate it when people throw that shit in my face without knowing the context of the difficult situation that I am in." I ranted.
"Ravine, you better not use anymore profanity right now or else, I will suspend you." She said.
"You wanted to know what's happening between me and my mother and now, you are going to suspend me for telling you how I feel about her? Are you serious? Are you fucking serious?" I said.
"You know what? After seeing how you speak to me, I kind of understand why she's treating you the way she is right now. You're a very vulgar and disrespectful young man." She criticized me.
"Who do you think I got it from?" I said to her and she looked taken aback. "I am a vulgar and disrespectful young man, you say. That's because she drove me to be this way. You're not living in my house to see what the hell she's doing to me. You have no idea how she was abusing me and how she fucked up my mental health and now, you are going to sit here and judge me, Ms. Ampy. Let me tell you something, you are an arrogant, condescending victim-blamer. Suspend me for all I care. I hate this fucking school anyway." I said before storming out.
The minute I got out of the office, I saw Kendall waiting for me. I looked at her before rolling my eyes and walking away.
"Wait!"
"What for?" I asked.
"I have something to say to you." She said.
"Let me guess! Are you going to say that I deserved that kind of treatment from my mother?"
"No, I won't say anything like that. I just came to tell you..."
"Spit it out." I said impatiently.
"Craig still loves you." She said.
"Well, I don't love him anymore." I said.
"I know you still do, Ravine. Listen, whatever happened between me and Craig was truly a mistake and a one-time thing. I treated you so horribly because I was so jealous of the way Craig cares for you. I wanted him to care for me the same way he cares for you, you know but after seeing how he protected you from your abusive mom, I realized that you guys truly are for each other and if I were you, I would give him a second chance because he deserves it, Ravine. He regretted everything already so why not give him an opportunity to redeem himself?" She said passionately.
"Wow! Where is this passionate plea coming from? Also, if he wanted a second chance with me, shouldn't he be the one to ask me for it?" I said.
"I know you won't believe him so I came here to tell you that myself." She said.
"I want to believe you but people like you, Kendall are so prone to having ulterior motives so no, thank you. I won't buy it. I'm not that stupid anymore." I said before turning my back on her.
After that, I felt strong and independent. I definitely don't need a boyfriend to complete me.
