Chapter 2- Trust Me Like I Trust You

It wasn't a secret that Harry Edward Payne-Malik has trusts issues.

It started when he was around 7-years-old; the day he got lost in the Zoo. It was partly his fault, for being a slow walker and partly Niall who couldn't decide which animals he wanted to see first so he kept on running here and there. Louis was trying really hard to look after his two brother and enjoy the Zoo at the same time, but Niall was making it really hard for him. Papa and Daddy was too busy exchanging kisses and giggle to notice that they had left Harry behind, who was absolutely mesmerized with the otters. When he turned around, he couldn't see any of his family members, just weird strangers taking pictures and wearing weird clothes. With tears streaming down his cheeks, Harry began running in his Bubblegummer shoes around screaming each names of his family members. One of the Zoo workers, a middle-aged man, came up with the intentions of helping the poor boy, but when he gripped Harry's small baby wrist, he let's out the loudest scream that caused quite the commotion. He didn't know why, but when the man grabbed his wrist, albeit not really that hard, a deep surge of fear ran up his spine. He felt naked, insecure and in danger. It was when he felt Liam's strong arms wrapped around his small body and his Daddy familiar cologne filled his nostrils did he stop.

He was never the same again after the incident.

Around other people that is.

“No, I don't want you to go and I don't want to go with you,” Harry declined his little brother by a year wish.

“But whyyyyy?” Niall whined like a little boy. “It's my first high school party!”

“Which is why I don't want you to go,...not just yet,” He replied without looking at his little brother. They were sitting in the cafeteria, waiting for Louis so that they can have recess together, it has become a routine for the three brothers to spend recess together, at the same table. Niall got invited to his first high school party, hosted by a kid Harry never heard of, and there is no way in this world will he let his brother go.

“That's not fair! You went to your first party when you're fifteen!” Niall reasoned.

“Time has changed Niall,” He replied nonchalantly, knowing that the reason he gave sounded really stupid.

“That's bull-” Harry gave Niall a warning look, causing the boy to flinch “-poop. Bullpoop Harry,”

“Nice save,” He smirked. In the Payne-Malik family, swearing at each other is considered a huge offense, which usually came with a heavy punishment. Liam was really strict with the whole swearing thing, because he wanted his sons to respect each other, love each other, not throwing vulgar words at each other. “But the answer is still a big fat NO,”

“Ugh,..you're improbable,” Niall groaned.

“I thought it was suppose to be ''You're impossible''?” Harry inquired curiously.

“You can't be impossible, you exist. So, the correct term is ''you're improbable'', which means you're ridiculous,” Niall answered like a nerd causing Harry to let out a huge bark of laughter. Out of the three of them, Niall is undeniably the smartest but somehow, he managed to hide his nerdy-ness quite well.

“You're a nerd you know that?” Harry said between laughs.

“And you're mean,” Niall pouted, but soon burst into laughter, joining Harry. But soon, a third laughter joined them, and they didn't have to guess who it was. Louis squeezed himself between his brothers, slinging his arms over their shoulders, laughing like there was no tomorrow.

“I hate to ask this Lou, but do you even know why we're laughing?” Harry asked.

“Why? Can't I just laugh just because I want to? Just because seeing my brothers laughing makes me happy?” Louis faked hurt, putting a hand on his chest.

“You're such a sap Lou,” Niall chuckled, shaking his head. “Hey Lou, can I go to a party-”

“Nope!” Louis answered with a big smile on his face, looking a Niall.

“But why?!” Niall asked, getting really impatient and his temper was on the edge.

“'Cause I said do, and you're too young,” Louis answered, bumping his nose with Niall.

“That's bull-poop! You, and Harry, were my age when you went to your first high school party!” Niall whined, again.

“That was different Niall. Time has changed,” Louis reasoned, kissing Niall's head “And I'm hungry, let's eat!”

“You guys go ahead, I'm not hungry,” Niall said monotonously, as he picked up his bagpack from the floor. “See you guys after school 'kay?” Without waiting for an answers, Niall stormed off. He knows that he can't go against his brother's wishes, and he can't possibly asked his fathers because they'll will asked on of them to accompany him. This 'baby-ing' Niall thing is not getting any better, and if this continues, he had no choice but to put an end to it.

“Naill wait-”

“Let him be Haz,” Louis stopped him, “If you went after him, you'll cave in,”

“But-”

“We'll talk to him at home okay? Let him cool off a bit,” Louis spoke softly.

“Yeah, okay. I just,..I just hate it when he's mad at me,..even if he doesn't show it,” Harry mumbled.

“Me too,....but it's for his own good,” Louis reassured.

“Yeahm and I don't trust his friend, Josh Devine? You know him?”

“That kid with the drum sticks? Of course I do,...but Harry, who's he friends with is his business,” Louis spoke sternly “You're going to chase them off,...again,”

“But I don't trust-”

“You don't trust anyone Hazza,” Louis cuts him off.

“That's not true, I trust you guys,”

“And trust me when I say this,...Niall is a clever boy, he knows how to pick the right friends,” Louis spoke as he grabbed Harry's shoulder so that he's facing him. “Okay? We're holding him back so much, for the sake of protecting him,...but going around and telling him who can he be friends with and who he can't is just plain crossing the line. And one more thing Hazza; someday, someone will come into your life, and he will gain you're trust and teach you how to trust, but right now, let's eat...I'm fucking starving,”

Harry was a tad taken aback by Louis' short speech; he doesn't have a trust issue, but why was everyone saying he does? It's not his fault that he just doesn't give his trust away like it's a free gift. And it's not wrong to look after his baby Nialler, who has the tendency to trust anyone that knows how to smile. Ever since he was little, to him, Niall is an angel; he never holds a grudge, he never fights back, he listen to Dad, Papa, Lou and him obediently, and teachers just love him. It was quite a shock to find out that Niall got detention on his first day of school. And now, he's friends with this kid, Josh Devine, and Harry couldn't help but to feel like there is something wrong with that boy. Harry was snapped out of his thought when he heard a loud crash. When he looked up, he saw that Louis was covered with food, from head to toe. There was a few noodles dangling on his hair, vegetables on his shoulder, sauces on the front of his shirt, and a food tray on the bottom of his feet. Harry was torn between laughing or helping his elder brother. There was a tall, pale and lanky boy on the floor, wearing thick glasses and nerdy clothes, visibly shaking.

“I-I-I,” The boy stuttered. There was a few stains on his knitted vest, his dress pants and his neatly combed hair. The food tray probably belongs to him, Harry thought. “I-I-I'm s-so-so-”

“Beat him Lou! Beat the freak!” a random voice spoke from the crowd, which was forming around them.

“Yeah beat him!” Another voice, a girl this time, added to the commotion.

“Fight! Fight! Fight!” the crowd chanted, louder and louder. By now, tears were streaming down the boy on the floor, as he looks around in fear. Louis, on the other hand, looked confused. He gave Harry a questioning, and he just returned it with a shrug. Following his instinct to do the right thing, Louis held out his hand to help the boy up, but the boy gave out a loud yelp and fell on his back, shielding his face with both of his hands.

“D-Don't, don'-t h-hurt m-m-me!” He stuttered, voice laced with fear.

“Marcel right? I'm not-” Louis tried to explain, but the boy scampered away, pushing through the crowd like his life depends on it.

“Well that dude is improbable,” Harry commented, and Louis gave him a weird look.

“Improbable?”

“Yeah it means ri-”

“I know what it means! But who says that?” Louis chuckled.

“Dunno, makes me sound clever I guess,”

“I think it's the new dude,...he'd just transferred in from Holmes Chapel,” Hunter said, but his eyes were focused on the Calculus sheet in front of him.

“What's his name?” I asked, as tried to copy his answers.

“Eyes off my paper PMS,” Hunter said with a chuckle. “His name is,..Jeremy Styles? Jeremy Styles, he's a senior, brown hair,..green eyes,”

“Jeremy,...Styles? What kind of name is that?” Harry snorted, trying to copy Hunter's Texan dialects.

“And what kind of name is PMS?” He countered using his fake British accent, chuckling. Even after living in the UK for nearly 6 years, he still couldn't get rid of his Southern American accent.

“Anything is better than Styles and your name rhymes, Hunter Hayes” Harry muttered. “So, he's hosting the party this weekend?”

“Yup,” he replied, “Why? You going?”

“No,...my brother is,” Harry answered.

“Louis?”

“Nialler,” Harry sighed, feeling extremely worried about his little brother. A stranger is throwing this party and wants to go,...a great recipe for disaster.

“Ohh,...his first high school party, good for him,” Hunter smiled. He was fairly close to the Payne-Malik family, being in the same class with Harry since primary, playing in the football team with Louis and he's been to their birthday parties a few times, meeting little Nialler in the process. He was a good kid, small and bubbly.

“No,...not good for him,” Harry retorted back.

“Oh I'm so gonna regret for asking this,..why isn't it good for him?”

“I just don't trust this new boy,” Harry answered, just as Hunter expected.

“Well nothing new there,” He smirks.

“What does that suppose to mean?” Harry asked, narrowing his eyes at his American friend.

“I means that,....you my friend,..have a really huge trust issue,”

“Why do people keep saying that?!” Harry asked, annoyed.

“Because it's true!”

“Well it's not my fault that I don't trust the new guy! We know nothing about him! He could be a drug dealer! Or a rapist!”

“Did I ask you if you trust the new guy?” Hunter countered with a question.

“No,..” Harry replied, with a slight confusion in his voice.

“I think that it's not the new guy that you don't trust,...it's Niall that you don't trust.

***

“You guys did what?!” Harry yelled at his Dad.

“DON'T ever use that tone on your Dad!” Papa roared. They were setting up for dinner, when Dad told him that Niall went to the party. Since it was just the three of them, Liam was too lazy to cook, so he just ordered pizza. Somehow, he felt lonely,...even though his sons haven't leave the house yet, he already feel like they are. Niall, little baby Niall had gone to his first high school party, and Louis is graduating this year; it was beginning to sink in him that his sons were growing up faster than he anticipated. He didn't like it,..not one bit.

“B-but Dad, Papa-”

“Niall is a responsible boy,...and Louis is with him,” Dad cuts him off, but Harry know that he had hurt his feeling when he raised his voice.

“Louis is with him?”

“That's what he told me,” Liam replies. “Why are you-”

“I'll explain later Dad,” He runs up to him and kissed his cheek, “And I'm sorry for yelling you,” He then kissed Zayn's cheek “You too Papa, I'm sorry,”

“Where are you going?” Zayn asked when Harry was about to run out of the kitchen.

“I'm going to the party too, and I'm bringing Niall back!” He answered as he runs out of the house. Fishing his phone out his jeans, he immediately called Louis.

“Lou!” Harry screamed through the phone once Louis picked it up.

“Whoah,...where's the fire Harry?”

“Are you at the party? With Niall?” He asked nervously.

“No,..I'm with my team. We just finished practice. Why? Where's Niall?” Louis answered, as he too, began to feel nervous “Haz? Where's Niall?”

“Shit! Shit!” Harry cursed. He was having a really bad feeling about the situation. And on the new boy too,..Jeremy Styles; he felt like there was something really wrong about the boy, even though they haven't met yet, the name just gives him shivers. “He's at the party,...

...alone,”
