Sunshine Exercise
Sleeping comfortably in their beds were the five paladins. Jay was in a deep sleep in one of his endless dreams, cuddling one of the only things he was able to bring back from earth thanks to Zane, Mr. Cuddlywomp, his teddy bear.
Zane was hanging his head out of the bed with his now dead laptop on his lap. He stayed up all night trying to connect his technology with Ignacian tech, thanks to Wu's knowledge on it at least. Although he did fall asleep on the couch in the lounge area and got carried back to his room by Cole.
Unlike those two, who acted the most childlike in Brookstone's eyes, he was already in his paladin attire. The raven tend to not sleep the best, mostly due to his constant nightmares and migraines that would erupt to him screaming. Besides, you can never be too ready whenever battle is near.
Awake like Cole, Lloyd sat up in his bed, examining a small blade in his hand. It looked like it was made of gold, but it didn't have the same properties. It was studier, and more reactive than gold. It had small engravings on the side of the blade, but it couldn't be translated by anyone Lloyd had gotten in contact with. Maybe he'll find an answer here.
Kai on the other hand, is apart of a devious plan that had been set up for every generation of paladins. He was leaning against the front control panel, smirking in anticipation as he wait for his sister to press the alarm button.
"Can you press it now?"
"No."
"Come on, please? I want to see their reactions!"
"Impatient Pindsvin." The princess teased, sticking her tongue out.
Kai shook his head, "Pindsvin? I haven't heard you say that in years." He said, thinking back to when they were kids and he would get overprotective about suitors that were being offered to Nya.
The ocean eyed foreigner rolled her eyes and turned on the alarm, alerting all the paladins to come to the control room. The goal was to see how they would react in an emergency. If they were fully rested, in armor, and had their bayards with them before they went into their dragons.
The siblings could practically hear the amount of panic in the halls as the paladins scurried into the control room. And to Nya's dismay, she was very disappointed in the result.
Not even all of them showed up. The only one that even passed was Cole, who was already fully in uniform and from the looks of things, rested. He was the first one to arrive, that pleased the princess quite a bit.
Lloyd followed afterwards, the same agility as Cole did, however he did not show up in uniform. He performed better than Nya had thought, although she could hear the chuckles her brother tried to hold back when Zane ran in.
It looked like the white paladin didn't sleep at all last night, which Nya took into account and will talk about. He was in the clothing he arrived in when they had first met, bags under his eyes, and his backpack slung over his shoulder. Unfortunately, he didn't get the zipper fully closed, so some of his stuff fell out of the bag.
The prince of Ignacia felt the sight was pretty humorous, his sister on the other hand did not. Her stern expression soften when she realized there was a paladin missing, "Where's Jay?"
The paladins looked at each other, asking for confirmation of where the missing paladin was. When the princess didn't get a response, she simply walked through the trio of paladins. She knew everything that happens in this temple, she could feel everything that goes on.
But this energy was new, human energy. She'd experience almost three hundred different races, but never had an encounter with her new paladins race. Although, on Lloyd's case it was a little fuzzy, and Cole's arm brought confusion as well.
She strolled down the hallway to the paladin's quarters, at the other side of the temple. Luckily, no one decided to follow her so this would be a lot easier to handle than with the attention of everyone else.
Nya came up to Jay's bedroom door, and knocked, "Jay? Paladin are you in here?"
There was no response. The Ignacian princess typed in the code on the key panel and his doors opened. Just as she was about to scold him, she felt an uncomfortable energy. She walked closer to her bed, she could easily tell he was buried in them since his fist balled up the covers like a stress toy.
She knelt down, getting a closer view of his face, automatically saw the anxiety scrunched up in face. His brows were furrowed, he was sweating waves, and shaking. Hesitantly, she put her hand on his head, and petted it like it was a furry feline.
Everything came into a swift motion, heavy amounts of a scared little boy stuck in an unknown world, the mean comments and un-want being thrown at him, and the amount of new faces that gave him false hope. She was too deep into it that she didn't hear the black paladin standing at the doorway.
Cole closed the door so that the others wouldn't come and and came over next to the princess.
"He's having a bad dream." She told him.
"Why haven't you just wake him up?" Cole questioned looking back and forth between the two.
Nya sighed, "I'm trying to find the source of it. It can be very unpleasant if waken with no context of the situation." She explained to him.
"That's what the heart is suppose to do, right-"
"You said you would not speak of it-"
"He's asleep. He's not going hear any of this." Cole reassured her.
"I know."
The black paladin just stared at her as she continued finding the source of the nightmare. He noticed her hand would glow a light blue when she was in full concentration or anger. That may be because of the powers she possesses, or that may be an Ignacian thing, he could not tell.
Her hand released it's hold on Jay's head and let her arm fall from it. She shut her eyes closed, feeling the head of Voltron wrap his arms around her as things start to go dizzy.
"Just breath," Cole reminded her, "Don't think about anything, just your breathing."
Watching her chest rise and fall was gave him reassurance of her health. He looked over at Jay, who still slept in his bed, a lot more calmer than before. He turned his attention back to the princess, who had opened her eyes and just stared at the blue paladin.
"So, when is he suppose to wake up?"
"Any minute. I was able to dim the source, and bring him out of his mare of the night. If the alarm had been on, he would've woken up immediately."
Cole's hazel eyes soften, "You care about him, don't you?"
"I care about all of you, Brookstone-"
"If this was someone like Lloyd or Zane this wouldn't be your immediate reaction. You would yell at them." He told her.
They sat there in silence. Cole stood up and walked out of the blue paladin's room and headed back to the control room where he could hear the lecture their 'Heart of Voltron' was giving. At this point, Cole's mind wasn't even thinking about Jay and Nya.
"You should already be in your armor-"
"You never mentioned anything about that!-"
"That should be the first thing that comes to your head when you hear the alarm-"
"ENOUGH!"
The three paladins looked at the raven, his eyes were stern and unforgiving, that was certainly a look no one wanted to be around back at the commission.
"I understand that this was a drill. But you also need to understand that they aren't familiar with this. They're cadets-"
"Paladins." Kai corrected.
The head was starting to become aggravated, "Whatever. What I'm trying to say here is that humans from earth aren't used to this. The previous paladins might've, but let me remind you that you recruited teenagers from an unknown planet. A planet that is currently not under any type of war." He explained to the red paladin.
Kai growled and was almost going to lunged himself at the raven, until both Jay and Nya walked in.
"Paladins," Nya started off, ignoring the 'almost' fight between red and black, "Today we will be doing some sunrise exercise. We'll start off with the simulator, then the obstacle course, and finally practice forming Voltron."
"Oh come on! Just when we thought the tortures of Lieutenant Karloff morning workout were over with!" Jay complained, rubbing his eyes in exhaustion.
Nya looked over at Cole, "How many Lieutenants do you have on Earth?"
"A lot, but none of them know about the outskirts of the universe."
"I'll keep that in mind."
Now in their paladin armor, they were starting off one by one doing the simulator. The earthlings had mentioned the workouts they had on Earth, so it gave hope to the siblings of Ignacia that there was potential.
They were proven wrong once again.
The entire jest of it is just battling against a super intelligent, computer simulated, robot that takes the level of it's round. The more advance the level, the more intimating it is.
Zane couldn't get passed the first round of the simulator.
Jay faired pretty well, making it to level 5, but was soon outsmarted by the machine.
Lloyd proven himself worthy already to the siblings, but it made the point even further. He seemed very good in swordsmanship, hand to hand combat, and even wilding a weapon that deals with range. However, he did tend to get to into himself and gets distracted very easily. He didn't make it past level 10.
Cole never seemed to disappoint, he made it all the way to level 35 until his metal arm started to irritate the skin that connects the arm.
But excuses weren't going to help you survive the war.
"That was horrendous!" Kai shouted, "You couldn't even get past the infant level! How are you going to be able to defeat the Oni on the baby level! He has the power to destroy entire planets! You only have to grip to destroy a lumipad!"
"What the heck does that mean?" Jay whispered to Nya, who was not very amused by her brother's outburst.
"I believe it translate to a fly in your language."
"Oh."
Fuming, Kai took out his bayard and started to train with the simulator on his own in anger. When he started it up, it showed his level, level 232.
Lloyd's eyes widen, and looked over to Zane, "You have a lot of work to do, buddie."
The tall boy raised a brow, "I'm a scientist, not a fighter."
They all watched Kai fight the simulator, taking heavy amounts of water to regain their strength. Nya on the other hand, not only was watching her brother, but was giving him correction.
"Straighten your posture and open your chest more." She pointed out.
The red paladin grunted as his sword clanked with the robot's, "You know I don't like your criticism, sis." He reminded her and he tried to aim for the robot again. It's response was to go under the prince and flip him over, and landed on top of the paladin.
The paladin huffed, and stood up from the simulator platform, "This is was I don't like it when you talk when I train-"
"If you listened, then you could've beaten it." She explained to him.
Kai pushed the princess up to the simulator as she laughed at his frustration. Taking out a spear from the weapon racks, she started her round up for the simulator.
Level 937.
The paladins other than her brother was purely amazed. She fought diligently, made herself aware of her surroundings, and defeated it without a sweat.
"Level 937 completed. Would you like to move to the next level, Princess Nya?"
"No. End sequence."
She turned to look at her paladins only to get jaws dropped on the floor, as the earthlings would say it. She blushed slightly, "Um, shall we try the obstacle course?"
This is kind of a filler tbh, but I really liked this episode so I decided to include it. I will warn y'all that this is going to be a very long book... an entire 22 minute episode is 2 chapters. If longer then it depends.
I do want to say for those that are confused that for the Ignacian language is a mixture of different type of languages put together. I probably won't put them into sentences since that would be pretty difficult along with sentence format.
Pindsvin = hedgehog in Danish
lumipad = fly in Filipino
Before I end this off, I do want to remind y'all that even though I am mostly going in chronological order of the Voltron: Legendary Defenders timeline, that I'll be cutting some episodes and changing some plotlines to fit the Ninjago alternative. Mostly because there's some episodes that I really don't like and because they're filler... unless I like the filler episode than that's different lol.
That's all I have for y'all. BYEEE!!!!
