Forming Voltron

Standing on the platform in the middle of the control room, Nya held a gigantic smile filled with tease. The last generation of paladins were all from different planets and races. Because of that, each had different matters of thinking, fighting, and defending. This group of paladins however... needed a lot of help.

The princess looked down through the windows to have an amazing view of the five dragons. Where the temple was stationed, they had an entire piece of uninhabited land to themselves which included hills, rivers, and other mysterious things on the planet.

The paladins were about to endure some of the obstacle courses the princess had mention earlier on that day. This was required by all the paladins, much to Kai's dismay of this portion of training with a new team.

"Alright, paladins. The goal of this exercise is to simply work on your teamwork and agility. You need to avoid all the obstacles you may face, and I will warn you; it is very painful." She warned.

"We'll be fine, we've done this before right guys?" Jay said, waiting for his backup in to get an awkward silence in return.

"Good luck."

And right after those words were said, everything went into total chaos. Lasers were being shot at them, the ground was falling apart from under them, and they were bumping into each other.  It doesn't even seem like they were aware of the others presence.

"HEY! Watch it!" Kai shouted at the blue dragon that collapsed on red.

"Sorry!"

The black dragon dodged one of the lasers coming from the temple, "Paladins, you need to be more focus!" He critiqued.

Grunting, Lloyd voiced, "Because, 'Patience yields focus', right Cole!"

"Lloyd." Cole groaned, as his dragon avoided the freeze ray the white dragon had tried to direct to one of the incoming lasers, "Zane, good idea. Keep firing at them, just not at us."

"Understood," He responded, shooting more beams of ice at the incoming lasers.

Using the fire canon from the red dragon, Kai called out, "Sis, was it really necessary to put on the lasers!?!"

There was no response. Without the paladins knowledge, the princess had put the training course sequence into autopilot. She had other business to take care of with Master Wu. Her brother however, was not very fond of the idea that she had left them high and dry with the Temple of Dragon's weapon system on full blast.

"Nya?"

"Did she just chicken out on us!?!" Jay exclaimed, jumping over a laser that headed his way.

"That little twerp." Kai murmured in Ignacian.

The five dragons continued to fight off the lasers, even tried to form Voltron at one point, but were proven wrong as they stayed apart.

The more they seemed to try and form, the more lasers they would have to try and dodge would appear. Not only had the princess but the temple on autopilot, but the weaponry doesn't seem to have an off button in that setting unless someone undoes it.

Isn't that just fabulous for team Voltron?

While the paladin were trying to get out of their sticky situation with the temple on autopilot, the princess went back into her chambers in order to find some information.

Going through miles of shelves filled with books on ancient Ignacian history along with the history of former paladins and Voltron. Her fingers ran along the pages in order to find anything to make this process easier. Unlike the previous paladins of Voltron from ten thousand years ago, this group of individuals is having a difficult time with teamwork.

"Father, this would've been so much easier if you were here to guide me." Nya mumbled to herself, gazing along each word from the book in her hand.

"That's why I am here, pupil." The kind words of her mentor spoke as he came up from behind her with his staff in hand.

Nya chuckled to herself, closing the hundredth book from the shelf, "It just never gets easier, does it Wu?"

Wu placed a hand on her shoulder, "No, but sometimes things become simpler, you just have to work hard enough in order to gain just that." He said.

"Speaking of simpler, how are the paladins holding up?"

"..."

The princess of Ignacia raised a brow, "Wu?"

"When you say 'holding up', you do mean emotionally correct?"

The hindsight of growling was starting to form from the back of the princess throat, "No, I mean with the autopilot defense simulator exercise. Their progress on forming Voltron?"

"Oh."

"Oh?" Nya questioned, "What do you mean 'oh'? Wu, what happened?"

Wu stroked his long, white beard in embarrassment, "I might have turned off the defense simulator..."

"WHAT!?!"

In the lounge room, the five paladins were not only sitting on the couch, but playing video games that Zane managed to sneak into his bag before they left earth. Using some of his handmade controllers, all five of them were playing an Earth game called 'Fist 2 Face 2'. Well... really it's only four of them actually play... Kai is having a difficult time figuring it out.

"Wait how do I fight? All it's letting me do is jump!" Kai complained, hitting the same button repeatedly with his pointer finger.

Jay looked over at the Red Paladin's controller, "You need to touch the blue button in order to fight, but there's also a special fighting mode you can do by press both blue and yellow to defeat your enemy in the most awesome ways!" The freckled paladin exclaimed, biting his tongue in between his teeth as he killed another robot.

"It's been so long since I've played video games," Cole admitted, "Back when I was on Earth, this game just came out before the Kerberos mission."

"You mean you never got to play this yet?" Lloyd asked, backing up Kai in the game.

The pilot shook his head, "Never had time."

"And you may never have time again."

The five paladins eyes widen once they heard the princess's voice. Slowly they turned their heads to look at her, and it wasn't a pretty sight. Her face was flushed with anger, her eyes threating to kill, and the frighten look on Master Wu's face in the corner of the room didn't help either.

"H-hi Nya." Jay stuttered.

"Hi." Nya replied harshly.

Kai rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, "Uh, how was your walk?"

The Ignacian princess grinned evilly, "I could ask you the same thing, brother. If I may ask, how was training to form Voltron today?"

"We all assumed that when the autopilot stopped that you were satisfied with our performance." Zane confessed, not realizing that Princess Nya's face was becoming more like a tomato than he thought.

Walking up closer to the back of the couch, her hands gripped the couch like a stress ball as the paladins slid further down the couch to get away from the queen of steam. Nya gritted her teeth, "And were you able to form Voltron?"

"Not even close."

"THEN WHY ARE YOU SITTING HERE PLAYING THE SILLY MOVING PICTURES WITH CONTROLLING MECHS, AND NOT FORMING VOLTRON LIKE I TOLD YOU IDIOTS!!!"

That got the paladins moving.

Hours upon hours of training later, and yet there had still been no progress with the paladins being able to form Voltron on their command. The more time that passed, the more the paladins were getting frustrated. Because of this certain predicament, the princess thought maybe a bonding exercise would do the trick.

With these weird ignacian technology headsets, from what the earthling paladins could comprehend anyway, they were suppose to show memories that bring a drive or importance to a person. However, some of the paladins were more closed off than others. It didn't help that the princess was watching every move they made from the corner of her eye.

"Do we have to do this?" Cole asked while Nya tried to adjust the headset to his head size. His only response was a pat on his metal arm, making him grunt.

The raven sat crisscrossed in between her brother and black paladin, her hands clasped together in readiness. "So who would like to go first?"

No one spoke a word to say the least. A majority was still very confused with the concept of the technology and Nya's logic, but Zane had no problem overshadowing the other paladins immaturity.

His mind went to a complete blank, and all that came up was a simple image of a family photo. The image was a little glitchy, but it was clear as day that it was a father smiling with his two sons.

Kai smirked, "He's a natural. Just needs to focus a little more."

"Zane, tell us your story. Tell us what happened to your family." The princess egged on.

The white paladin grunted, the image no longer clear, only pixelated. Whatever the image of his family related to just didn't sit right with him to share.

"Zane."

"Zane? You ok, buddy?"

The voices of his friends broke Zane out of his trance, and shoved the headset off his head and threw it across the room. He stood up from his spot and walked out of the room without a word. Seeing his friend in distress, Cole took off the headset and followed Zane out of the room.

Nya looked over at her brother confused. Kai shrugged, "I don't see what the big deal is."

"Big deal? It's a huge deal! An invasion of privacy sounds like an understatement at this point. This might be normal for you guys down here, but on Earth this is a big no no situation." Jay shouted, stomping out of the room.

The only person that stayed in the room with the royal siblings was Lloyd, who seemed like he was in his own world.

"I'm going to go calm down Jay." Kai told his sister, leaving her and Lloyd by themselves.

The princess looked up from her hands to Lloyd, "How different is Earth from Ignacia, Lloyd?"

The green paladin wrapped his arms around himself, "Well, humans can get very angry when things don't go their way or if they feel offended. We don't have pointy ears or this type of technology. And no on Earth knows that there is life outside of our own planet. It's pretty sad on our part." He explained.

"Oh," She sighed, "That is why they did not want to contribute to the headsets."

Lloyd scooted over to be next to Princess Nya, "Most humans just prefer the natural way of finding out things from others past. But there are some people that search the internet to find dirt on someone and cancel them."

"Cancel them?"

"It's a long story," Lloyd admitted, wrapping an arm around the Ignacian princess in comfort, "But I can help you understand it, about humans and all sorts of stuff. Just as long as you help us adjust to the rest of the universe and becoming our own paladin."

The raven smiled, "And how are you not the head of Voltron?" She teased.

"Guess I'm not tall enough yet."

Sorry for the wait! I'm really regretting making this chapter with this certain episode because I forgot how long it was lol. I'll figure it out though XD.
