Possession: Chapter 1 - Winds Of Change

Her morning started when her alarm went off and Turner just so happened to call right after her alarm went off.

It made Katarina a little happy that Turner called her. She hadn't seen him since the Corridor of Elders, but they did exchange contact info, along with Skylor and Neuro.

She grabbed her phone off her nightstand and put it the call on speaker.

"Good morning, Kat!" Turner's voice greeted her happily on the phone.

"Morning Turner." She said, a little groggy.

"Neuro's on the call, too." Moments later, Neuro's groaning, tired voice could be heard.

"Good morning, sleepyhead." Turner said to the Master of Mind.

"Hey Neuro. How long have you been up?" Katarina asked Neuro.

"I've been up for at least thirty minutes listening to this idiot talk. He woke me up at 6:30, Katarina. 6:30!" He groaned. She and Turner heard his head hit the pillow.

"Anyways, how have you been with the Ninja, Kat?" Turner asked, as Katarina got up from her bed and started looking in her closet for her new gi.

"It's been going well so far. I moved in with them, and I'm getting to know them better." She answered, and started putting her new gi on.

"That's great." Turner said happily, as he smiled from his side.

"Glad you're doing well with them." Neuro chimed in.

She smiled. "How have you guys been? Hanging out with the other Elemental Masters?"

"We're doing great!" Turner exclaimed excitedly. "Ever since the Corridor of Elders, me, Neuro and the other Elemental Masters have been meeting up and hanging out. We're becoming great friends!"

"I'm doing good. Me and Turner are going to meet up with Skylor today, along with Tox and Shade." Neuro said. He sounded like he was sitting up on his bed now. "Are you coming?"

She wrapped the belt around her waist and tightened it. "I don't know. Me and the Ninja got word of a giant fish terrorizing the sea, and we plan on taking care of it today."

"A giant fish?" Turner and Neuro asked in unison.

"Yeah, apparently it's depleting the food source and the area it's surrounding is making it unsafe for people to fish at." She explained. Neuro nodded from his end of the call.

"But when I'm done finding that big fish, I'll send a picture to you guys in the group chat." She added. Turner had created a group chat that involved Skylor, Neuro, Katarina and himself the day after the battle at the Corridor of Elders.

"You better! I wanna see how big of a fish we're talking!" Turner said.

"Me too." Neuro said, a little intrigued about the fish.

Katarina chuckled as she put her hair into a ponytail. She heard someone calling for her name.

"Katarina, you ready to find the mutant fang fish?" Kai called out to her.

"I'm ready, Kai!" Katarina yelled back. She picked up her phone from her nightstand and said to Turner and Neuro "Wish us all luck."

The three wished each other goodbye and ended the call. She put her phone in her pocket and ran out the door.

Running outside, she saw her friends had already summoned their Elemental Dragons, so she summoned hers as she jumped off the ground.

Six Elemental Dragons flew over the sea, with Lloyd leading them during their mission. As they all did, Kai got the idea of flying ahead of Lloyd and everybody else.

The Green Ninja chuckled. "Getting ahead of yourself, Kai? I'm leading this charge." His Energy Dragon flew to catch up with Kai's Fire Dragon.

Kai yelped in surprise as the Energy Dragon easily caught up with him, splashing water onto the Fire Ninja as the dragon spun in the air. Kai covered himself from the splash, grimacing.

Jay, who was flying behind Kai, laughed louldy. "That's one way to cool off a hot head head!"

"Hey!" Kai chuckled at the Lightning Ninja. "No one messes up my hair!"

The Fire Dragon flew to catch up with Lloyd once again, and the Green Ninja was caught off guard when the Fire Dragon flew above him, and yelped when it flew down towards the water and splashed him.

Zane sputtered out the water Kai had unintentionally splashed on him. Cole flew a distance next to the Titanium Ice Ninja. "You okay there, Zane?"

"Affirmative. It'll take more than a little water to take me out." Zane replied.

"Then how about a big fish? INCOMING!" Jay warned everybody.

Everyone looked behind them to see a giant fish swimming fiercly at the dragons. The giant fish lunged itself at the Ice Dragon, who barely managed to get out of the way, before diving back into the water.

"Oh my, that is quite the fish!" Katarina exclaimed in surprise, flying a little higher.

"There he blows!" Cole exclaimed, as he watched the fish go up and down in the water.

Zane examined the fish for a moment while Pixal confirmed it was indeed the fish the Ninja were looking for. "Pixal says this is the one!" The nindroid reported to his friends.

"And now that he's taken the bait, let's reel him in and get him to the aquarium." Lloyd said.

"Let me guess, Kai. You caught one that big once?" Jay said teasingly.

"Hell no. He was twice the size!" Kai bragged. The mutant fang fish lunged itself at Kai, who screamed and flew higher in the air.

"You did not!" Katarina said, not believing her friend for one second.

"Yes I did!" Kai shot back with a laugh.

As the Ninja flew faster, Jay looked back and said to Cole "He's almost as hungry as you, Cole!"

"And twice as ugly as you, Jay." Cole retorted as he smiled at his remark.

As everyone laughed at Cole's joke, Lloyd announced to his friends "It's time for the catch of the day!" He pointed a boat in the distance.

"In-line formation!" He ordered them. Immediately, everyone flew their dragons into a single-file line.

"It's right behind us!" Cole exclaimed fearfully.

The fang fish took one more lunge at the Ninja.

"NOW!"

The dragons dispersed from their formation and made way for the fish to land on the fisherman's boat. The fisherman fell onto the boat, shocked at the sight.

Everyone cheered at their victory and briefly flew around the boat. "Now that's what I call hook, line and stinker!" Jay laughed, and they all flew back to the harbor.

The boat had docked at the harbor and a crane was lifting a crane from the boat and into a huge tank.

"Nice work, guys." Katarina said to her team, and high-fived Lloyd. "Great leadership out there, little bro."

Lloyd smiled. "Thanks, Kat." He watched her join, Cole, Zane and Jay, who were now observing the giant fish being put into its fish tank.

"It's working!" Cole exclaimed. The crane let go of the fish, who went into the tank with one, big splash. The four Ninja yelped and exclaimed in surprise at the water being splashed onto them.

Then, a photographer came up to the group, and asked "Hey, can I get your guys' picture for the paper?"

Jay nodded eagerly and ran off to inform Lloyd and Kai. The Green Ninja and the Fire Ninja were now with their friends, all of them standing in front of the giant fish tank with smiles on their faces.

Katarina stood next Lloyd and put a hand on his shoulder. Jay was happily shouting at their picture being taken, and Zane was telling the photographer to move back so the camera could get a picture of the fish as well.

Until the photographer fell into a water with a hearty laugh.

"Oh great! Who's gonna believe us now?"

Katarina laughed and pulled out her phone. "Don't worry, Jay! I got us covered." Her magic levitated her phone into the air with expertise, until it was where Zane wanted it.

Just as everyone smiled for the picture, the fang fish decided it would be a good time to splash water onto the Ninja. Everyone turned around when they heard the sound of a fish tail rising itself in the air and their eyes widened.

"Shit," was what Kai's famous last words as the tail landed back into the water. That was when the phone snapped the picture and everyone was coughing from the water.

She brought her phone back to her, and she and her friends looked at the picture. It was of them looking at the fish in pure horror and the water almost landed itself onto the Ninja.

"Not picture-perfect, but it's still a good photo." Katarina chuckled. While she sent the photo to Turner, Neuro, and Skylor in their group chat, she couldn't help but feel a little sad.

She really wished her father was here to see this.

Wu looked into the water of the well outside of his new tea shop. "Steep Wisdom." He hummed at the sound of the name. He scooped the water into a bucket, and carried it back to the shop. "Not a bad name for a tea shop."

Nya was on a ladder, stocking the shelves full of supplies. "I thought saving Ninjago was difficult. Try starting a small business."

"Wu can't be a sensei forever. It's about time we all start helping him with his retirement." Misako said to her from behind a cash register. They watched Wu walk back into the shop with the bucket of water.

Misako glanced at Nya with a knowing glance. "Speaking of which."

"Oh here, let me give you a hand with that." Nya reached her hand out for the bucket, but Wu tossed the bucket from one hand to the other, and swiftly turned before she could even blink.

"I'm old, not weak."

"You look after the Ninja, I'll look after you." Misako told Wu. Nya looked around the shop and smiled.

"Well, Steep Wisdom's starting to look like a real tea house." She said proudly. "Except for one thing. Customers."

"Good things come to those who wait." Wu said wisely. The trio then heard the sound of their friends' voices and the flapping of dragon wings.

"I'm just saying, it was big, but I've seen bigger." Kai boasted from outside the tea shop. The Ninjas' dragons landed.

"As big as your ego?" Jay retorted.

"Kai caught a fish bigger than his ego? Now I've heard everything." Katarina remarked.

"Right." Zane muttered with a slight chuckle.

"Oh, who am I kidding? I'm tired of waiting. I'll put the ninja to work." Wu bent down and picked up a box. He walked over to the Ninja, who had started gettingg off their dragons. "Ninja, you need to find customers."

"No 'hello, how's it going, glad to hear you saved the day. Again'?" Jay said.

"Yeah, Sensei. We're all a bit tired. You mind if we handle this tomorrow?" Cole asked.

'Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today'. Katarina could practically hear Wu saying that to all of them right now.

"We all have a share if this business succeeds. How else do you expect me to be able to afford all your new uniforms?" Wu put the box down and opened it for all of them to see. "Which reminds me, your new ones arrived."

Everyone exclaimed at the thought of their new uniforms, but their excitement was short-lived when their sensei held up their brand new uniform shirt. Lloyd tilted his head in confusion.

It was a t-shirt with Steep Wisdom's logo on it. Zane walked forward to get a closer look. "Those do not appear to be ninja uniforms. They resemble work attire."

"Very observant, Zane. We must focus on furthering brand awareness. And here are the fliers I want each of you to pass out in the city." Wu handed each Ninja a stack of fliers. Jay sighed tiredly.

"If I have to pass all these out, I may the one passed out." He remarked.

"Let's just put these on and get it over with, shall we?" Katarina said. Everyone picked up their own uniform and put it on and over their gi's.

As they walked back into the shop, Kai complained "Aren't we going to look kind of dorky flying up on our Power Dragons with these things on?"

"You won't be flying on anything. We're selling tea, not magic." Wu turned to the Ninja. "Besides, you all have been relying a little too heavily on your lately. Real powers come from the inside."

"It'll be our honor, Sensei." Lloyd nodded.

Misako put down the phone she was talking into. Nya looked at her hopefully. "Is it a big order?"

"It's the police. They've asked for Lloyd. There's been a break-in at the museum." Misako explained.

The Ninja gasped. Cole took Lloyd's stack of fliers. "Go on, I'll take your share."

"Thanks, I owe you one." Lloyd said. He was about to head out the door when he heard his mother clear her throat.

"Aren't you going to kiss your mother goodbye?"

He blushed in embarassment. "Mom, we-we've talked about this. I'll catch you on the way back." He ran out the door as everyone laughed and awed at the endearment.

After it died down, Wu said in his strict tone, "Remember, no powers!"

The Ninja let out one, big groan.

The Ninja had arrived in the center of the city on their Elemental Dragons, and landed in the center of the city.

"Great, my pride and dignity are going down the drain after this." Kai complained.

"What pride and dignity?" Katarina retorted with a smirk. Zane, Cole and Jay ooed and laughed at her remark.

Kai huffed, and they hopped down from their dragons one by one, scattering around the city. Katarina went to a stoplight on a curb.

She handed a flier to a pedestrian. "Come to Steep Wisdom. We have all your favorite teas all in one little shop."

The pedestrian looked at the flier and said, "Thanks, but I don't like tea. And what kind of a name is Steep Wisdom?"

"Hey, I know it's not the best name you ever heard in your life, but if you don't wanna go, then you can just say so." She growled.

The pedestrian crumpled up their flier and threw the wadded flier at her forehead, storming off. Magic encased her hand, and not letting her anger consume her, she tossed it into the nearest trash can she could find.

"Steep Wisdom. Enlightenment in a cup!" Kai said to another pedestrian. The woman took the flier and threw it away, uninterested.

"Best little tea shop in Ninjago!" Cole said, holding up a flier.

"First cup is free, with a flier." Zane tried.

"Take - Why won't you take the flier? JUST TAKE THE DAMN FLIER!" Jay yelled at a passing pedestrian, then sighed.

The Ninja gathered in the city. "I see no one else is having any luck."

"Mortals can be so rude these days." Katarina grumbled under her breath angrily.

Jay scoffed. "It's as if they think I'm passing out a communicable disease. I mean, sure, I have a cold sore, but it's hardly contagious."

Kai, Zane, Cole and Katarina backed away slowly from the Lightning Ninja, who raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Maybe if we use our powers, we can get this over with?" Cole suggested.

"But Sensei gave us strict instructions not to use our powers." Zane reminded his friends.

"Well, Sensei's not here, and what he doesn't know won't hurt him. I'm in. Is everyone else?" Kai said.

"I'm sure Wu won't mind if we use them just a little." Katarina said, already liking the idea. He smirked, and everyone scattered across the city.

Cole came up to a car, and got the idea to go under it, lifting the car up with his super strength, attracting passerbys. "Feeling tired? Out of strength?" He spun the car with ease. "Then get a pick-me-up at Steep Wisdom."

Kai walked up to a man in a tuxedo, who was blowing fire from a torch. "Care to pass the torch?"

The man raised his eyebrow, and reluctanly agreed. He handed the torch to Kai. "Sure, let's see what you've got there, Mr. Teapot."

"If this isn't your cup of tea, how about this?" Kai took a deep breathe and blew the fire on the ground. It was burning Steep Wisdom's logo. Everyone gasped and cheered. "Steep Wisdom. The hot new place!"

Jay scoffed at the crowds Cole and Kai were attracting. "You think that's a crowd? Check this!" He got two wires from a fusebox and used his Lightning, logos of Steep Wisdom going onto the screens across the city. He smirked and more people cheered. "I know, it's shocking, right?"

"If we're going to use our powers, you may as well do it right!" Zane said to Katarina. She smirked at the idea.

"I like where you're going!" She and Zane summoned their Elemental Dragons at the same time and soared into the air.

Their dragons roared and dove down. The Ice Dragon crafted an ice sculpture of a tea pot. The Form Dragon flew around it. Katarina used her magic to create sparkles and magical fireworks in the air. She and Zane threw their fliers to the people.

Then, out of nowhere, the wind blew the fliers out of everyone's hands. The teapot burned on the street burned out, the screens with the logo went back to normal, and people were suddenly running.

Kai and Jay tried to use their powers, but to no avail.

"My powers. They're not working!"

"Mine either!"

"What do you mean? My powers are-" Suddenly, Cole's arms gave out on him and he fell on the ground, with the car on top of him. He yelled in surprise.

"Somebody give me a hand!" Kai and Jay rushed over to him to lift the car up high enough for Cole to crawl out of.

"If our powers are gone, that means..."

The trio looked up in the sky, where Zane and Katarina were flying on their dragons, when Zane's disappeared mid-loop. The nindroid began falling, and she gasped in horror. The Form Dragon dove down as fast as it could to the falling nindroid, and managed to catch him just in time just before he hit the ground.

She and Zane breathed heavily. Something was definitely going on.

The Titanium Ice Ninja smiled at her gratefully. He landed on the ground and Katarina hopped down from her dragon. "I told you we shouldn't use our powers."

"What powers? Where did they go?" Jay wondered aloud.

"Yeah, what happened out there?" She asked her friends.

"Our powers are connected to Lloyd. If our powers are gone and not working..." Kai explained to her. She realized what he was going to say next, and her eyes widened in horror.

"We need to go back to the tea shop and tell Wu now!" She summoned her Form Dragon, and motioned for her friends to climb on. The dragon spreaded its wings and took off at great speed.

Back at the tea shop, Misako was carefully putting tea leaves into a bag for the shop's first customers. She handed the bag to a woman who was much younger than her and smiled. "I added a little something extra."

The shop's doors opened and the Ninja came barging in, yelling all at once about an emergency and needing to talk to Wu.

"Guys, not so loud. Can't you see we have our first customer?" Misako shushed them. She gestured to a mother and daughter.

"Wow, the real ninja! Oh, can you shock me?" The little girl said eagerly to Jay. He gently shook  his head.

"Not now, kid. Maybe later, okay?" He said to the little girl in a gentle tone. He looked at Misako urgently. "Where's Wu?"

Wu came out from behind the shop with another tea bag.

"Sensei!" Kai shouted.

Wu lifted up his head and asked, "Yes?"

"We were getting the word out-"

"And we thought using our powers was a good idea-"

"-But then there was this wind-"

"-And our powers disappeared!"

There was an enraged look on Wu's face. "You were using your powers?!"

"Yeah, I know. We're terrible students, but what happened to our powers?!" Jay exclaimed, wanting to cut to the chase and not wanting to go through another one of Wu's lectures.

The windmill outside began turning. Dark clouds appeared in the sky, covering the bright moon.

"If your powers are gone, then something must have happened to..."

Leaves blew in the air. A mysterious figure was heading towards the shop.

Wu held onto his hat tightly.

The figure had already made their way to the tea shop. He put down the hood over his head, revealing Lloyd.

The little girl pointed happily to the figure dressed in green. "It's Lloyd!"

"I know that wind." Kai, Katarina, Zane, Jay and Cole ran outside to see him. Wu didn't join them, however, as if he knew what was going on. "That's not Lloyd."

"Step aside." Lloyd ordered them. The group stopped running towards him.

"Lloyd, what's wrong with you?" Jay exclaimed.

"I want a word with your master." Lloyd said, his voice turning out to be more deep and gravely.

"Whoa, Lloyd's gone through puberty." Jay muttered.

"What's gotten into him?" Cole wondered aloud.

"I sense some kind of foreign entity has taken over his body. So the question isn't what, but who's gotten into him?" Zane observed.

"They must've possessed Lloyd's body." Katarina surmised.

"Whoever you are, whatever beef you had with Sensei, you have with us. Give us back our friend!" Kai told Lloyd, ready for a fight.

Lloyd tilted his head, the bones in his next cracking. He smiled evilly, let on an unsettling laugh.

Katarina stepped back one step.

"How are we supposed to fight a friend?" Cole asked his friends.

"Let. Me. SHOW YOU!" Lloyd got into a fighting stance, his skin turning a sickly shade of green, his hair turned completely black, and there were black markings around his eyes.

He charged at the group, jumping up into the air. He extended his arm out. A gust of wind instantly sent them flying into the air and falling on the ground. They let out a groan, and Lloyd could only laugh harder and louder.

The group slowly got up. "Great, we don't have powers, but he does?" Katarina, Cole, Zane, Jay, and Kai jogged towards him.

Lloyd fought them off one by one with one hit. The group fell onto the ground once again. Katarina was sent flying in front of the car, and she hit it upon impact, falling onto the ground with a thud.

Cole got up, and performed his Spinjitzu, but Lloyd used Wind to easily send him towards the shop's walls.

"So not only does he have powers, but he can control the wind, too?"

Jay ran towards Lloyd, performing his Spinjitzu. Lloyd scoffed and used his Wind to send Jay flying as well.

"Our Spinjitzu is worthless against the wind." Kai observed.

Zane got out his shurikens, and Lloyd could only laugh. "Shurikens? Cute. Try this on for size!" The wind broke off the propeller of the mill and it was sent flying towards Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane. It broke upon impact.

Lloyd looked at Katarina, who had remained on the ground the entire time. He walked slowly towards her, and laughed. "For a Garmadon, you sure do know how to be weak!"

"Get up, please." The little girl pleaded to her. She had been watching them fight from the moment she got to the car with her mother and Misako. "Ninja never quit!"

Katarina got up, slowly but easily, and glared at him. She tore off her work uniform, revealing her black and purple Ninja gi. She summoned her daggers and got in her fighting stance.

She looked behind her and smiled at the little girl. Then she looked at Misako. "Go and get them out of here!"

Misako nodded and the three hurried into the car. The car started its engine, and sped into the distance.

"I'm stronger than you think." Katarina retorted to Lloyd. He laughed.

She summoned her daggers away, and she stepped out of her fighting stance "Please Lloyd, I don't want to have to fight you."

"That's too bad, because I want to!" Lloyd charged at her, and she dodged out of the way. He used his wind to lift her up in the air, and she teleported out of his wind's grasp. Her magic blasted Lloyd, and he growled.

Everyone else got up and in their fighting stances, and Lloyd just summoned his wind into a tornado, spinning the five Ninja around and scattered them all over the courtyard.

Moments later, the door opened, and Wu and Nya were running out. Cole helped Katarina up as Wu yelled "To the barn!"

Cole, Jay, Katarina and Zane ran to the direction of the barn, but Kai wouldn't move. "I am not running away from Lloyd!"

"We will not win this fight today." Wu said to him. Katarina stopped running and looked at Kai, worried. She ran to him as a gust of wind came from the shop. They both tumbled onto the ground.

From the Bounty, Cole, Jay and Zane watched them. "Are they crazy?!"

More wind came from inside the shop. Lloyd ran to Kai and pinned him down, then picked him up. "Foolish ninja! Why would you and your friend try to take me on all by yourselves?!"

"Because I promised to look after Lloyd." Kai said.

Katarina summoned her twin daggers, and kicked Lloyd, making him let go of Kai. Lloyd scowled, and used his Wind to pick her up and throw her down. She tried getting up, but someone was pinning her down. She glared at him.

He grabbed the dagger out of Katarina's hand, and pressed it down on her left shoulder, through the black fabric and into her skin. He dragged the dagger down, and she yelled out in pain.

Kai grabbed Lloyd, and pulled him away from Katarina. The daggers summoned away. "I know you're in there, Lloyd. Fight him!"

Lloyd tried struggling out of his grip, and held his hand, as if he was going to flip Kai and throw him over his shoulder. "The staff is getting away! Let go of me!"

Kai grunted. "Only when you let go of Lloyd!"

Lloyd let out a strained grunt, before breathing heavily. "K-Kai? Katarina?"

Kai stopped, and loosened his grip. Katarina gasped as she got up, hearing Lloyd's distorted voice and seeing his pained expression.

"Lloyd!" She called out to him.

"Help me!" Lloyd pleaded to them helplessly.

"Lloyd? Is that you?" Kai gasped. But before Lloyd could answer, the entity possessing him regained control.

Katarina saw the Bounty's anchor lowering down. She sprinted over to Kai and grabbed his hand. She grabbed onto the anchor's chain, her other hand gripping Kai's. "I saw Lloyd! Let me go!"

The two got onto the Bounty, and felt the ship being tugged by the wind.

"We have to go back!"

"Sorry, brother. That's what I'm trying to avoid." The ship tiltled, and they tumbled to the other side of the ship. Kai grabbed Nya's hand so she could pull down a lever. As the Bounty sped away, Lloyd let out a yell.

"Whew, that was close. The coast is clear." Nya reported after looking at the radar.

Jay sighed and glared at Sensei Wu. "Spill it, Sensei. What just happened back there, and what have they done to my friend?!"

"Yeah, Sensei. Who was that?" Cole asked.

Wu sighed. "You four were not my first pupils. There was before you and one after Katarina."

Everyone's eyes widened.

"Morro, the Master of Wind."

"Okay, now those lights scare me. We got something on our six." Nya reported. The red dot was pulsing.

A ghostly green dragon roared in the distance. The flapping wings was heard.

"Looks like your Master of Wind just caught his second wind."
