Chapter 1B: Ninja Beaten to the Punch
(A/N: Second part to Chapter 1. And I may have forgotten some distinguishing features, so I put them down as best as I could. Let me know if I made any errors. Other than that, enjoy reading)
----
At the monastery, Lloyd, with short hair and a goatee, wearing a straw hat and a green kimono, walked along the practice grounds as he sees Joan, with long brown hair and a scar on the left side of her chin, raising a leg to kick her cousin, but Max, with red hair and wearing his father's old thirty-two thread count headband, quickly grabbed hold of it with ease before moving behind her and raised it high, making her spin. He then looked to see a spinning dummy charging at CJ, who had mahogany hair, just like his mother, but a streak of black at the front, Don, with spiked up strawberry blonde hair, and Gabby, who had silver hair and a dent around her left eye, as they each held out their weapons before CJ then struck it with his scythe just as Don kneels down for Gabby to kick it and sending it moving down for Don to severe it from its stand. "Good." He said.
"So, when do we learn Spinjitzu, dad?" Don asked as they take their hoods off, stand in line and sheath their weapons.
"Spinjitzu is in each and every one of you. You just need to unlock it."
"How?" CJ asked.
"Have patience, young CJ. You've only been a Ninja for 3 months now. The time will come."
Alarms soon went off as the Ninja immediately went inside to the living room and came to a complete halt to look at their security monitor. It showed a map of Ninjago City where a beacon was blipping somewhere in the middle. "Borg Industries is under attack!" Gabby yelled before tapping a few keys to show a security camera's image of gunmen storming in, aiming AK-47s at the techs, one of which got Joan shocked.
"Dad." She said to herself as she saw her father being forced to the computers.
"Time to gear up!" Don replied before they nod and ran out the door while putting their hoods on.
"What kind of technology are they after?" Lloyd asked as he saw his half-blind friend and former fellow Ninja being forced to insert a USB stick into the hard drive and forced to copy something.
Down at the garage, the Ninja got into their big vehicle called the Destiny's Speed. The Destiny's Speed was made from a regular monster truck that Don found on one of his recon missions and convinced his honorary uncles and aunts to repair and modify it to make it into not only just a fast vehicle, but a tank as well with mounted turrets or cannons. Basically, it was almost like the Land Bounty, and Gabby was the one who named it because she felt its swiftness would almost match Turner's son, the new Master of Speed, Chase, but didn't dare go very fast in the city due to traffic laws and speed limits. "Everybody in?" Gabby, the assigned driver, asked. After a row of 'Yes' replies, she moved a lever down. "Borg Industries, here we come!" A hatch in front of the Speed then opened up, revealing the blue skies before it then sped off, for Ninjago City, and save Jay and the scientists. Or so they thought.
----
In the middle of the city, on the corner of Wales and Popper, there had been a traffic accident, several minutes before, where a white car was flipped on its side and the offending vehicle had taken off. The police on scene had formed roadblocks, and that made drivers very cross. They were all honking their horns as well as noticing the Ninja's vehicle and continuously honked even more. "HURRY UP AND GET OUT OF THEIR WAY!" A woman yelled out, demanding them to move for the Ninja.
In the Destiny's Speed, the White Ninja was also honking her horn before sticking her head out the open window. "An urgent situation is upon us!" She called out, but was able to get a response due to the horn honking.
"I can't take it anymore." The Black Ninja replied before opening the hatch to the roof. "I'm doing some Ninja-ing." He then crawled out through the hatch as the others watch him.
"Is 'Ninja-ing' even a word?" The Blue Ninja asked.
"Technically, no." The White Ninja replied.
"CJ, wait for me!" The Red Ninja called out as he crawled out through the hatch as well.
When he got to the roof, the Red Ninja came out to see the Black Ninja somersaulting over a sports car. He soon stood up to jump onto a van next to the Speed, followed by the others. "Why didn't we do this at the start?" The Green Ninja asked as he jumped onto a building wall and bounced off of it.
By the accident site, the paramedics had just gotten the victim, a young pregnant woman, out of the wrecked car, a few Ninja pass by with the black one landing on the medic's truck to run along it, the blue one slides through the open back doors and out through the open side door. "Hey, what are you doing?" A medic asked.
"We're already late!" The Red Ninja replied as he came onto the top of the turned over car and immediately rolled down it as the White Ninja and Green Ninja bounce off a nearby building wall, passing the police tape.
----
As soon as the Ninja had gotten to Borg Industries, police and ambulance were already there, with a crowd behind a crime tape, just as the Ninja arrive, vault over the tape and came up to a nearby officer. "Ninja are on site." The Green Ninja said.
"I'm afraid you're all too late." The officer replied as they all see the gunmen forced out by officers. Some were struggling or demanding lawyers. "Situation was secured before we even came here." They all pass the ambulance truck where the wounded scientist was being tended to as best as the medics could before they take her to hospital.
As soon as the medics soon loaded the scientist into the van, Jay and a police detective in a black suit, white shirt, black tie and black dress shoes came out of the building. The detective, former Black Ninja, Cole Brookstone, had a hand on his half-blind best friend's shoulder. "I'm glad you're okay, bro." He said.
"Yeah, but I was hoping that our kids would save us." Jay replied before they stop and saw the Ninja, who came up to him.
"Dad, Uncle Cole, what happened?" The Blue Ninja asked as they took off their hoods.
"Group of mercenaries tried to steal some technology, but all of a sudden--"
"Dad!" Someone called out as they all turned to see Cliff, back in his casual clothes, running up to them, ignoring a young policeman who was chasing after him for passing through the police barricade, but Cole waves him off to let him know that Cliff was family. "I heard it on the radio." He lied to keep up appearances and avoid suspicion. He stopped by them and knelt down to try and catch his breath, his long hair on the left side was hanging down. "Are you okay?" He looks back up at his father and hugs him.
"Yeah, I'm okay, son."
Cliff then backed away. "Uh, listen, dad, I--"
Jay immediately placed his hands on his shoulders to reassure. "Hey, forget about it. I really am a jerk."
"No, you're right. And I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it. Okay? Listen, Cliff, I need to speak with your sister and the others about something, okay?"
"Okay, dad." Cliff nods and then started to back away while looking at him and Joan. "I'll see you two back home." He begins walking away, silently smirking at his sister and her team feeling disappointed for not being there on time. He ducks under the tape and walked away from the crime scene.
As soon as his son left, Jay turned back to the others. "Actually, before we begin, what actually took you guys so long?" Cole asked.
"There was an accident at Wales and Popper." Gabby replied. "Pregnant woman's car got struck and turned over. Offending vehicle took off afterwards."
"Wait, what was the colour of the victim's car?"
"Uh, white." Max said, remembering the brief glint of the colour of the car at the accident.
"The crime scene units recovered the mercenaries' van and found white transfer on the side."
"Let me guess, it was a distraction." CJ said.
"We'll connect the cases back at the station." He then turned to his half-blind best friend. "Jay, what did you want to tell the Ninja?"
"Apart from a few guns pointed at me that will develop some bruises later on, we would've been killed, when all of a sudden, some samurai swooped in, took them down like they were nothing and soon left just saying he is called 'Samurai I'." Jay explained as the Ninja were suddenly surprised.
"'Samurai I'?" Joan asked.
"That's what he said."
----
By a nearby alleyway, Cliff was on his phone, listening to the conversation through a bug that was inside his older sister's favourite earrings. They were a gift from him for her 16th birthday, that was just in the previous month. "He was like so fast. Apart from his mech, he had all these crazy gadgets on him. One that blocked their bullets, one with a spray that sends them to sleep, one that acts like a pepper spray and one that shoots darts. Those gunmen never stood a chance against him."
"Do you mind if we try to find what those guys wanted?" Gabby's voice was heard in the phone.
"Of course." Cole's voice was heard in the phone. "We'll send you the busted USB stick. While you do that, we're gonna try and investigate this 'Samurai I' vigilante."
"Well, whoever he or she is, Samurai I will never last long." Don's voice was heard in the phone through the bugged earring. "We're gonna make sure of it."
At that moment, there was no more talking, except the sound of them walking away as Cliff then put his phone away and chuckled. "Oh, we shall see, green boy." He said as he walked away, smiling. "We shall see."
----
Back by Borg Industries, a white robed figure suddenly appeared out of nowhere from nearby alleyway to observe the police cars drive the mercenaries to the station away while Cole was still interviewing witnesses and Jay was leaning on a lamppost while on the phone, presumably to his wife, Nya. "Drat!" The robed figure said. "Borg Industries is obviously not the first choice I would've thought of. Might have to think of something else. Not to mention find a way to deal with that so called samurai." The figure then moved further into the alleyway.
