Chapter 1A: Debut of Samurai I
(A/N: Parts of this story will take place around the same time)
----
"Everyone is a hero, no matter who they are."
Those were the words of a kind old woman that Clifton Walker once saved from a mugger, resulting in him being left with a scar between his right eye and nose, almost resulting in it being severed. She said those words to him on the day he was told that he's too young to be a hero and came across the mugger pushing the old woman down and tried taking off. Cliff felt stupid stopping the mugger by tripping him, resulting in the mugger attacking him before he broke his leg and the mugger took off. They found him a week later based on Cliff and the woman's description and the mugger threatened to kill Cliff in court when he testified against him. That was 6 months ago.
Present
A samurai in a big mech flew across the sky, responding to a break-in at Borg Industries and decided to make his debut to Ninjago City, and beat the Ninja there. "The robbers were reported to be on the 74th floor." Someone on the other end of his intercom said to him.
"Roger that, Minus." The samurai replied with a computer-like voice to mask his own. Minus was actually a codename for the samurai's mentor and analyst. "Any sign of the Ninja?"
"They're on the corner of Wales and Popper."
"They'll be too late." He said with a tone that indicated he was happy before seeing the Borg Tower. "Approaching Borg Tower."
"Roger that. Be careful, I."
"Copy." The mech was soon coming close to one of the windows of the 74th floor.
Several Minutes Earlier
In the gym at Ninjago High, Cliff, wearing a grey sport jacket, white t-shirt, grey track pants and white sneakers, was currently boxing with a fellow student with other students watching until the opponent prepared to punch him, only for the young boy to dodge and launch and uppercut at his opponent, knocking him onto the ground. The students cheer as Cliff removed his safety padding and his gloves before heading over to his defeated opponent. "Good match, dude." He said, helping him up.
"Thanks, Cliff." The opponent replied before a bell rang.
"Okay, that lunch, class." The gym teacher, Mr. Karloff said. "See you all tomorrow." The students started walking away as Cliff picked up his sports bag and walked out as well.
In the hallway of Ninjago High, Cliff, who was now wearing a brown cardigan, grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and black sneakers, was currently enjoying a bagel as he walked down to his locker before coming across it and opened it to show a typical high schooler fashioned interior with blue stickers, some of the Ninja. He then looked at a photo of himself and his family before closing it and hears a buzz. He then realised it was his phone and gets it out to see a message. 'Silent alarm activated at Borg Industries. M.'
Quickly looking at his surroundings, Cliff replied with 'Acknowledged' before immediately heading over to a nearby door, unlocks it, and heads in, immediately closing and re-locking the door.
There was actually a pathway in the supposed room as Cliff ran down it before stopping at a red door and opened it. Inside the room, it had many consoles and monitors as well as weapons and a woman, wearing a red kimono, sitting by the consoles. Cliff soon came up next to her. "Looks like a robbery, currently in progress." The woman, codenamed Minus, said.
"Prime the mech for launch." Cliff replied as he heads into a nearby room while Minus tapped a few keys and an alarm was heard. Inside the room, Cliff, now in samurai gear, looked up as a hatch above him opened and he is shot out through it. The hatch lead to a mech, which he immediately got in and pressed a few buttons. "Launch."
A hatch in front of the mech opened up, showing clear blue skies before the mech then flew out. Outside, the hatch was shown to be next to an abandoned building in the industrial area as the mech activates its thrusters and moved forward. The samurai was hoping to beat the Ninja in his debut.
Present
On the 74th floor of Borg Industries that was under siege, scientists were on the ground as gunmen, dressed as maintenance workers and wielding AK-47s, move around while one held his AK on one scientist, who was forced to copy all of their research on a USB stick. "Hurry up!" The gunman yelled.
"It takes time." The scientist replied. The scientist in question, was Jay Walker. The former Blue Ninja and Master of Lightning. His hair was short and groomed on one side, while sporting a beard which his wife, Nya, called a human brush for her face. Underneath the white lab coat, he was wearing a blue sweater over a light grey t-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers. He was also sporting a black eyepatch over where his left eye should be, one of the main reasons he stopped being a Ninja. The now 39 year old retired Ninja was lucky to get a job at Borg Industries, designing inventions. But today wasn't his lucky day. He had just come back from lunch when the gunman stormed in and wounded one of his employees after she pressed the silent alarm, but they chose to continue their heist.
"Hurry up, Walker!" The gunman pushed his rifle into Jay's shoulder. "Or your family's dead."
"Leave them out of this!"
"Then hurry up!" Before he could continue, the sound of one of the windows breaking, caused the gunman to turn and see a samurai in a mech. "Samurai! Shoot him!"
The gunman immediately fired at the mech, but to their shock, the bullets ricocheted off the mech as it raised its arms and fired two nets from them. Two of the gunman ducked down as the nets caught their accomplices and pinned them to the wall before getting up to see the samurai coming out of his mech aimed their rifles to shoot him, only to hear clicks. "Oh, you had your 30s." The samurai sarcastically said. "Now it's time for your nappy-poos." He raises his right arm, spraying some weird mace at them, causing the two gunmen to drop their rifles and fall to the ground, immediately snoring. Hearing a gunman coming over to his left, the samurai quickly changed modes on his gauntlet, moved the arm out to him and sprayed some spicy mace on him, causing him to scream and cover his eye, in pain. "You look like you'll need laser eye surgery." He sarcastically said before he then looked at the last gunman raised his rifle to fire at him, only for the samurai to change modes on his gauntlet again to conjure a shield and the bullets hit it until the rifle clicked. The gunman then threw his rifle down as he immediately grabbed Jay, pulling out a Walther P99 and aimed it at his neck.
"I'll kill him!" He tightened his grip on the half-blind scientist as the samurai moved closer. "Let me go with the research and he lives!"
"Go on." He spoke with sarcasm while folding his arms, secretly changing modes on his gauntlet. "Shoot him."
This gets Jay to become immediately shocked. As the gunman prepared to pull the trigger, a dart suddenly hit his hand, causing him to drop his pistol to look at it and sees the samurai had fired it underneath his gauntlet. "Ooh, what is in that stuff?" He lets go of Jay and fell back as the scientists immediately cheered for the samurai's victory.
Jay removed the USB, dropped it on the ground and stomped on it to destroy the copied research before looking at the hero. "You weren't serious, were you?" He asked.
"Nope." He simply replied before heading over to his mech and climbs into it.
"Wait, who are you?" A female scientist asked.
The samurai closed his mech panel and looked at the scientist who asked the question. "Just call me... Samurai I." He soon started his mech again and flew out of the room as Jay and the scientists look on.
"Samurai I." Jay repeated to himself.
In the sky, as he flew away from the now gunman free building with the sound of police sirens being heard, Samurai I saw the look on Jay's face. The same look he gave him earlier that day. "Why can't you understand?!" He started remembering his father's words.
Earlier that day
Cliff was getting ready for school when he and Jay were arguing about wanting to be a hero. A Ninja, for the fourth time. "You're only 14 years old and still in school!" Jay was following his teenaged son throughout the house.
"And mom was my age when she became a hero." Cliff replied.
"That was different. She chose it."
"Why can't I? I mean, Mandy chose, and she is no longer in school!"
"She was the right age. Besides, you have next year."
"I might be something else by then." Cliff had just packing his bag before getting out a soda from the fridge to drink on the way to school.
"Don't be." Cliff just scoffed as he went out the door. "Clifton Edward Walker, don't you walk away from me!"
"I have to go to school! We'll talk more when I get back. Hopefully, you've made your real decision, you half-blind, sarcastic jerk!"
Present
It was those words that made him regret himself for saying them. Half the time, he wanted to reveal himself and apologise for calling him a jerk. Heading back into the hatch in the industrial area, the samurai descended onto the ground, opened the cover and got out. Cliff then took off his helmet and looked at it, remembering the old woman's words. "Everyone is a hero, no matter who they are."
Smiling, Cliff went to the hatch so he can get out of his samurai suit. "Ninjago, be prepared." He said to himself as he opened the hatch. "Samurai I is the new hero in town." He then went in, leaving the mech's garage as the hatch then closed.
