Chapter 3: The Clan of Red Lightning
"You know, the king didn't actually tell us his name," Cole complained as they walked down a hall.
"Oh, King Jayden?" Jaylin questioned. "His mind runs about a mile a minute, so he does leave out some things."
"Yeah, he didn't even tell you guys anything about The Clan of Red Lightning!" Jason exclamied, leading them down some stairs.
"Well, what do you two know about them?" Jay asked them, desperate to find out more.
"We're not sure what's true, but we do know that they can teleport anywhere they like, even realms," Jaylin explained.
"And they teleport with red lightning. And, we know that when they fight people they use the red lightning to attack," Jason told them.
"Like, an elemental power?" Zane asked the two.
"We're not totally sure what that looks like," Jaylin admitted as they walked past the gaurds. She sighed shaking her head.
"But it would be super cool to see," Jason sighed. The ninja glanced around at each other, all smirking at the idea they all had.
"Hey Jaylin, Jason, turn around," Lloyd told them. The brother and sister did, and were amazed at what they saw. Five elements were staring back at them, each in the ninja's hands.
"Woah, you guys are elemental masters!" Jaylin exclaimed, going around to look at each one.
"So cool," Jason said, his eyes sparkling. "Jay, you're the master of lightning!?" He shouted. Jay laughed.
"Yeah? I thought you already knew that though," Jay replied.
"Well, legdends are still legdends. Besides, they never made it very clear if you had lightning powers or not," Jaylin told him, walking over to Lloyd. "What's your element?" She asked, confused.
"Uh, we're not really sure, but uh, energy? It's like their four elements combined." Lloyd chuckled.
"And what's your element Cole?" Jason asked curiously.
"Earth. It's way cooler than it sounds. Plus, it comes with super strength!"
"Woah, ice! I always thought ice was super cool," Jaylin exclaimed running over to Zane.
"She loves storms. And we get tons of ice storms in the winter," Jason explained. "Ooo fire!" He ran over to Kai. Jaylin on the other hand seemed to stay as far away from the fire as possible.
"Careful, you don't want to burn yourself," Kai told Jason, who really wanted to feel the fire. Kai quickly diminished the flame. The rest of the ninja did the same with their elements.
"If there's fire, shouldn't there be water?" Asked Jason.
"Well, that's our friend, Nya's, element," Cole told him.
"And she got captured by The Red Lightning Clan..." Jay trailed.
Lloyd spoke up, "We think, anyways."
"Oh," Jason stared at the ground. "Sorry," he murmured.
"Our mom got captured by them," Jaylin said, turning around to hide her tears. "And our dad died in a fire they caused, so..." Jason hugged her.
"I'm sorry," said Lloyd. "If we find her, we'll get her back too."
"Anyways, there's the base," Jason pointed off into the basement. The ninja gasped at the place. It looked pure evil. Dark clouds with red electricity coming out of them were supporting a huge black, almost metalic looking building.
Jay felt pain in his arm as he looked at the place his girlfriend was trapped in. "I'll get you out Nya. I promise," he whispered. He felt a hand on his shoulder. Kai.
"We'll get her out," Kai said.
"I know," Jay replied sighing. "But, what if something terrible is happening to her in there?"
Kai shrugged. "Don't think about the negatives. There's a positive side to this. Somehow."
Jay looked back at the evil black building once more before an idea came to mind. "Hey, does anybody have any water?" He asked.
"Does a lake work?" Asked Jaylin.
"That works perfectly!" Jay exclamied.
♡♡♡♡♡♡
"You need to eat, my dear Nya," Red Lightning told her.
Nya looked at the plate of food and cup of water beside her. "And how do I know that you didn't do anything to it?"
"Nya, you need to eat to stay strong." He grabbed Nya roughly by the arm and held her by the arm. "Or I will hurt you even more than I already am," he hissed. Nya's eyes went wide in terror as he dropped her back onto the ground. She picked up the piece of turkey and nibbled it. It was good enough for Red Lightning, as he left her alone.
While Nya still didn’t totally trust the food, she was starving. It didn’t take her very long before she ate the rest of the turkey on her plate. She looked at the water, and took a long sip before she swore she saw Jay in the water.
"Jay!?" She quietly exclamied in surprise. Taking a closer look, it was indeed Jay, his face and upper boddy in the water, looking a lot like a reflection.
"Nya! You're still alive!" He exclamied. "What happened to you?" He asked her, looking at her purple cheek. Nya touched it and tried not to wince.
"N-nothing. Don't worry about it," she said, plastering a smile to her face. "How are you doing this?"
"I'll explain later. Anyways we're in the Lightning realm and we're coming to save you. Do you know where you are?" Jay asked.
"I'm in a diffrent realm!?" Nya half shouted. "And I think I'm at Red Lightning's base."
"Red Lightning?" Jay questioned.
"He's my captor. I think he's the guy in charge of this place," Nya responded closing her eyes.
"Are you sure your okay Nya?" Jay asked her.
Nya sighed. "Don't worry about me Jay. I'll survive in here. Worry about stopping this guy. I think he's hurting innocent people." Nya looked around.
"He's hurting innocent people like you Nya," Jay told her. Nya put a hand over her cheek, hiding the bruise. "Plus telling me, your boyfriend, not to worry about you is like telling me not to worry about the world ending."
Nya slightly laughed. "Oh, Jay. I love you."
Jay smiled at her. "I love you t-" The cup got knocked out of Nya's hands, and the water spilled onto the floor.
"Jay!" She yelled. Red Lightning stood over her with scowl on his face.
"And just what do you think you are doing!" He yelled.
"I-I got bored!" She exclaimed. Nya couldn't let him know that Jay had somehow contacted her. Hopefully he doesn't know already.
"Oh really?" Red Lightning questioned. "Because it sounded like you were talking to someone special."
"How would you even know? For all you know, I could've been talking to myself," she spat, trying not to let the fear take over.
"Oh Nya, you're gonna regret you even said that," Red Lightning hissed at her, taking her neck and shoving her against the wall. Nya smirked and kicked him on his stomach. He flew backwards, into a wall. Nya ran out of her cell, quickly realizing she had absolutely no idea where to go. She ran through the metalic black halls with red accenting the outline of the floor and walls. Nya stopped and quickly decided to go right. She felt hands on her shoulders before getting shoved up against a wall.
"And just where do you think you're going?" Said a female voice. Nya breathed heavily in response. She slowly lifted up her leg, ready to kick whoever this person was, but the woman stopped her with her own leg. Nya saw the woman's hands start to glow red. Screaming, Nya slowly gave in to defeat, slumping down the wall into unconscious.
"Good work, Red Light." Red Lightning complimented his best villian.
"Thank you, Master. Shall I take her back to her cell?"
He shook his head. "No, take her to my room." He smirked.
Red Light put her arms under Nya's shoulders. "By the way, I have some news about her friends."
♡♡♡♡♡♡
Jay gasped as he nearly fell into the lake.
"Easy Jay," Cole said, grabbing his arm. "You used a lot of power." Jay nodded, leaning on Cole for support. He glanced back at the lake, but Nya's face was long gone.
"So how was she?" Kai asked, anxious to hear about his little sister.
Jay sighed. "She said she's fine, but she looks awful. I think I saw a bruise on her cheek but it might've been the water." Jay shook his head. "And she said that the person in charge of this clan is called Red Lightning- also her captor."
"Red Lightning? That's an interesting choice," Cole stated.
"Not really, considering they use red lightning for their powers," Zane told him.
Lloyd looked at Jay who had his eyes closed. "Is there anything else Jay?"
"Yeah. Nya said that Red Lightning is hurting innocent people. And I thi-think she's one of them..." Jay said, looking at the ground.
Kai was about to ask another question, but he saw Jaylin and Jason and decided not to ask. Besides, Jay needed a break.
"I don't have to carry you, right?" Cole asked Jay who was still leaning on Cole.
"No, I can walk," Jay said, straightening himself up.
"We should head back to the castle then," Jaylin told the others, worried.
"What's wrong?" Asked Jason. Everyone started walking.
"I think we're late for school," she replied.
Jason slapped a hand over his mouth. "Ooohhhh I can't be late again or else..."
"If you guys need to go, you should go," Lloyd told the kids. Jaylin noded.
"Yeah, we're sorry, but I'm sure you can find the castle on your own, right?" She quickly turned around to see Zane nod. Jason was already long gone, with his sister running to catch up.
"That was... strange," Kai said, looking off in the distance.
"Yeah, but they're good kids," Cole told the others.
"I sense there is more to them though," Zane stated.
Back at the castle Jaylin and Jason were greeted by the ambassador. He loomed over the two, looking angry.
"You two are going to be late for school! Just what do you think you were doing out there!?"
They both looked at the ground, scared. "W-we were showing some guests around sir," Jaylin stuttered, looking at the floor.
"Look at me when you're speaking to me, and put on a dress. You know better than to go running around like a boy," the ambassador firmly stated, waving her off. Jaylin ran off nearly in tears.
"Hey! Don't talk to my sister like that!" Jason yelled at him.
"You!" The ambassador shouted, grabbing Jason's ear, "ever stand up to me like that again, and you'll get punished. Now go and get cleaned up for school, servant." He let go of Jason's ear and he ran up the stairs like his sister did. The ninja walked in, hearing the last bit of words the ambassador spoken and saw Jason running up the stairs.
"Ah, so you must be the guests my king has spoken about. Come with me now, I shall show you to your rooms," the ambassador spoke, going up the stairs.
Turning down a hallway, the ambassador pointed to five doors. "Choose any room you'd like. Be ready for dinner in two hours." And with that he left the ninja to choose their rooms.
"Well guys, we can meet in my room for an hour," Lloyd suggested. Everybody agreed and walked into their rooms.
♡♡♡♡♡♡
"Put on a dress," muttered Jaylin, shoving off her shirt and pants. "Why don't you put on a dress meanie." She threw on a random blue dress, not caring if her hair became all staticy. Jason walked into the room.
"Jaylin, we need to go," he said, pulling her arm.
"Can't we just skip today?" Jaylin whined.
"You know what'll happen to us if we're caught skipping school." Jason tugged at her arm a little more.
Jaylin sighed. The ambassador's comment made her feel not herself.
"Jacob will be there," Jason convinced. "Plus, I think we're learning about Ninjago today for social studies.
At the mention of Jacob's name Jaylin blushed. "Fine," she agreed. "But I'm going to learn, nothing more," she told her smirking brother.
"Suurre you are," Jason replied, leaving the room.
The king had made arrangements for all of his child servants to go to school. He wanted a good future for all of them if one day they were ever to leave the castle to pursue their dreams. He had classes held soon after lunch, as it was most fit for all of the children's schedules.
Jaylin and Jason walked into class, just barely making it on time. Jason went off to the front row of desks while Jaylin went to the third row.
"Today class, we will begin talking about our next realm, Ninjago. As you know, the last realm we learned about was The First Realm. After the First Spinjitzu Master left, he created Ninjago with the four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu: the Scythe of Quakes, Nunchucks of Lightning, Shurikens of Ice, and the Sword of Fire." The teacher paused to show a picture of the weapons on the projector.
"So cool," Jason whispered, his eyes glimmering.
"What's so special about these weapons anyways?" The boy beside Jason asked.
"They're the elements used to create Ninjago, and possibly the greatest weapons in all 16 realms," the teacher answered, finally pulling up the picture of the Golden Weapons. After pointing them out, she droned on about Ninjago's history and a couple of facts.
Jaylin was pretty bored during all of this until her teacher started talking about some prophecy.
"The dark island is where the greatest evil lived: the Overlord. The First Spinjitzu Master split the dark island from Ninjago, leaving the ultimate battle of good and evil undecided. Thousands of years later, it was decided through a prophecy that the Green Ninja would face the Overlord. He succeeded, bringing Ninjago to peace." Jaylin furiously scribbled down notes. To her dismay though, her teacher moved on, talking about something else Ninjago related.
"I hope you took good notes," the teacher told her students near the end of class, "Because we are doing a project on Ninjago. You'll be choosing something about Ninjago to work on. I gave you a list to get you started, but if you want to do something else, come and talk to me. Let me know what you pick by the end of class."
Jason immediately knew what he wanted to do: The Golden Weapons. Jaylin also knew what she wanted to do: The Final Battle.
♡♡♡♡♡♡
The five guys all met in Lloyd's room, just like they agreed. They were sitting in a circle, discussing their plans to attack The Clan of Red Lightning's headquarters.
"It looks super evil. How are we supposed to go inside?" Cole asked.
"I might be able to walk through the lightning," Jay suggested.
"That solves you. But what about the rest of us?" Lloyd wondered.
"You could create an elemental shield Lloyd," Zane told him.
"That’s a good idea. But it takes a lot of energy to create a shield. Let's think of something else," Lloyd replied.
"Spinjitzu?" Suggested Kai.
"It's lightning Kai. It finds ways to shock you. We just need a good insulator. Like rubber or something," Jay stated.
"Okay, say if we make it in. Then what?" Kai quized.
"We sneak our way around until we find Nya?" Zane suggested.
"No way! We should run as fast as we can until we find her," Cole agrued.
"How about we sneakily jog around. The last thing we want is to get caught." Lloyd said.
"Oooh Zane. Could you scan the building and see if you could identify rooms?" Asked Jay.
Zane nodded. "I can try after dinner. It might be a bit dif-" Zane stopped mid-sentece. The ninja looked at him confused, but soon heard arguing coming from down the hall, getting closer.
"Oh come on Jaylin. The golden weapons are so cool. Just admit it," said a familiar voice. The ninja heard the footsteps stop outside their door.
"Not until you admit that the Green Ninja's prophecy is way better," she argued back, getting ready to knock.
The door opened to reveal Cole and the other ninja behind him. Jaylin and Jason instantly shut up.
"I think both are pretty cool, don't you Lloyd?" Cole asked.
"Considering I never had a golden weapon, and I was the chosen one, I'd go with the prophecy," he replied.
Jaylin and Jason looked up at them. "Where'd you say you were from again?" Jason asked.
"Ninjago," Cole replied. Looking back at his teammates, they all gave him a nod before Cole invited them into Lloyd's room.
"As long as we take you to dinner with the king in ten minutes," Jaylin said.
"So what's this arguing about?" Kai asked the two.
"Well we learned about Ninjago in school today," Jaylin started.
Jason nodded. "And the four Golden Weapons which are super cool were used to create the place."
"Accurate," Kai nodded. "Continue."
"And we also learned about the Green Ninja who took out the Overlord in the final battle," Jaylin said.
"Fun times," Lloyd said, somewhat sarcastically.
"So we're arguing about which one is cooler," finished Jason.
"Plus, we're doing projects on them," Jaylin added.
The ninja looked around at each other, trying not to laugh.
"Okay first off, drop the argument because neither of you are going to win. And secondly," Jay paused, "Greenie over there is the one who defeated the Overlord and Cole, Zane, Kai, and I used to use the Golden Weapons."
"Ohmygoshreally!?" They both squeal.
"What on earth do you guys do in Ninjago?" Jaylin asked them.
"We're ninja," they all reply at the same time.
"What about your friend? Is she a ninja too?" Jaylin asked.
"Nya? Yeah she's a ninja too," Jay said. "Hopefully you guys will get to meet her soon."
"Does that mean you guys are gonna bust her out of the clan's base?" Jason questioned.
"Well, we're gonna try," Cole said.
"We should start heading down now," Jaylin tells everyone else.
"Do you think you could tell us about the golden weapons after dinner?" Jason asked, skipping down the hall.
"Well, we need to do some things after dinner, but perhaps tomorrow night?" Zane told him.
"But tomorrow night's so far away!" He complained.
"Jason!" Jaylin yelled at him. "That’s disrespectful."
"Oh, it's okay. One day you'll learn to be patient," Kai said. "Like me."
"Kai, you are not patient!" Jay exclamied as the others rolled their eyes.
"Not as impatient as Cole when we don't fight anything for a while," Kai said. Everyone laughed.
"Okay guys, have fun at dinner, we'll see you tomorrow," Jaylin said once they got to the table.
"Bye guys," Jason said. The ninja said their byes to the pair as well, and sat down at the table.
The five waited for a couple more minutes before the king walked in. He sat across from the ninja.
"Good evening," said the king.
"Good evening," the ninja choursed back, a bit nervous.
"I can see that I need to finish telling the legdend. Please, eat, I've already had my meal. And no interruptions until the end please," the king stated.
The ninja nod, as all of their mouths were full.
"Ah, where was I? I believe I told you about The Clan of Red Lightning. But, I have not told you about Jay. Jay came to this realm from another. He followed his love here, but she was captured by Red Lightning, the leader of the clan. Jay learned the whereabouts of their base, and sought out to find her. Jay managed to move the electric forcefield as he was the elemental master of electricity. He managed to sneak around the base, using his powers if he came across any of Red Lightning's workers to knock them out. Finding his girlfriend battered and bruised, but mostly in an okay state, they tried to find a way to save the others. But many memebers of the clan had been alerted, so Jay battled them alone, while his girlfriend tried to find a control room. Jay was near defeat when he suddenly-" a loud boom that sounded a lot like thunder cut off the king. Smoke could be seen rising from the west side of the castle. A fire alarm wailed in all the inhabitants ears, telling everyone of a fire. The king and ninja rushed outside, only to find a surprise waiting for them.
"Well, if it isn't the ninja," said Red Light. "How would you like to join your friend?" She questioned, aiming lightning at them.
