Let's pretend Nya is still a baby.
Skylor's POV
I walked into the classroom, tired as the departed realm, and sat down next to my best friend, Seliel. I fell on the chair and groaned, then slammed my head in the desk.

"Ummm....you okay?"Seliel asked.

I let out another groan a second before the bell rang.

After the teacher entered and we greeted her, she informed us that we are going to make projects. Great. I won't be able to sleep through the weekend.

"Okay, now, I will assign you partners."the teacher said.

"But Mrs, usually we choose our own partner!"a kid from the class said.

"Well, not this time! I'm trying something different."she said and the class groaned, me probably the loudest.

She started reading some people from the class, putting them together, then I heard my name."Skylor Chen's partner will be..."she stopped, as if for dramatic effect, then continued."Kai Smith."she said.

"WHAT!?"I yelled and everyone looked at me."No! I don't want to be with Kai! Can't I be with someone else!?"I asked.

"Miss Chen! You're not allowed to talk without being asked! And because of that, you cannot change your partner, while the others can if everyone is okay with it."the teacher announced."Oh, and by the way, Miss Chen,"she said, looking at me again."Detention. After school."she said and I slammed my head on the desk. My day is going great so far. Yay! Note the sarcasm, by the way.

Kai's POV
Yes! I'm paired up with Skylor! Thank you, Mrs. Thompson, thank you! Skylor is the only girl that doesn't like me and thinks I'm a jerk and the only girl I do like. And I finally have the chance to hang out with her!

After class, I caught up to Skylor who had left with Seliel before me."Hey Sky."I said.

"Don't call me Sky."Skylor said, not looking at me.

"Okay, Skylor,"I corrected myself."Can we talk? Alone?"I asked.

"Actually-"

"Yeah, sure."Seliel said and walked away."See you later, Sky!"she said and waved.

"I'm gonna kill her."Skylor mumbled then turned to me."What do you want?"she asked.

"We're partners, aren't we?"I asked.

"Yes, sadly."she said.

"Then we should talk about where we're gonna do the project."I told her.

"Okay then. At yours, on Saturday, is that okay?"she asked, annoyed.

"Sure! I will send you my address!"I told her and started walking away.

"To what exactly? You don't have my number, dumbass."Skylor said.

I stopped. I know I don't have it."Than can you give it to me?"I asked as I went back to her and took my phone out. She sighed and took it, then put her number in and gave it back."Thanks, Sky."I told her.

"Skylor."she corrected. 

"Skylor."I repeated."Got it."I said, chuckling, then walked away."Bye, Sky!"I said to mock her and continued to my next class.

~Saturday~
Skylor's POV
I checked the address again before I knocked on the door. I arrived at a small village near the city, where apparently Kai lives.

Seconds later, Kai opened the door, wearing sweatpants and a T-shirt, which looked wrinkled and his hair was messy.

"Umm...were you asleep?"I asked.

He yawned."Yeah. I stayed till late yesterday. Come on in."he told me and opened the door wider. His house was pretty old modern, but looked really nice."Your house is nice."I told him.

"Heh, thanks,"he said, scratching the back of his neck."I'm gonna change, I will be back soon."he told me and walked up.

Not knowing where to go, I went to the living room and sat down on the coach.

A lot of time passed and Kai hasn't come down still. I decided to go and check on him. Walking up the stairs, I heard baby cries. Baby? And then someone talking quietly to it.

I walked up to one of the rooms and the door was open. I peeked in to see Kai rockig a baby in his hands and trying to calm it down.

"Kai?"I asked and he turned to me.

"Oh Skylor, I'm sorry, it's just Nya started crying and hasn't stopped in a while."he told me."This is my baby sister, by the way."he added.

I walked up to him and looked at her."She's cute."I told him and he smiled.

"Heh, thanks."he said. Nya started calming down and once she was asleep in his arms, he put her back in her crib. Putting the Baby phone on, the two of us existed the room.

"You're really into the role of big brother, are you?"I asked.

"Well, yes. If I wasn't here, I don't know who would be watching over her."Kai told me.

"What do you mean? What about your parents?"I asked.

"Well, they're almost always working to support us and I have to take care of her most of the time."Kai said, shrugging."But I love her so much, I won't ditch her."he added.

And then it hit me like a truck. Kai was not a jerk, no. He was far from it. He was just acting cool.

But there still was a jerk in that house. And that's me. I was the jerk, I'm the one who's always insulting him and pretending like he's a parasite. I'm the bad one, not Kai.

"Hey, hey, Skylor, why are you crying?"he asked, wiping tears away. I haven't realized I was crying.

"I'm so sorry, Kai..."I whispered, looking away.

"For what?"he asked."Skylor, talk to me."he said, shaking my shoulders lightly.

"For being such a jerk to you,"I told him."I'm so sorry for insulting you and being so cold towards you. I've been so bad towards you and yet you're still so sweet to me."I said and put my hands over my face, sobbing in them.

I felt him wrapping his hands around my waist and running one of them through my hair."It's okay Skylor, it's okay. Don't cry please you shouldn't be crying."Kai whispered sweet things in my year while I was sobbing and ruining his shirt.

"I'm sorry..."I chanted like a mantra while he was telling me it's was okay.

After a while I calmed down and I looked up at him, to see him already looking at me. He pecked my forehead."It's okay."he said one last time.

No, Kai Smith is not a jerk, nor will he ever be. And I finally saw that.

So, yeah, something different(I think?? Idk.). I don't even know where the idea came from, I just had it earlier in the week and here it is!
