Disclaimer: I don't own Ninjago, just the story and my OC's.

The team woke up early the next morning.  None of them got much sleep.  They weren't just beaten, they were beaten badly and by one of their own.  They each decided to do their own thing.

"Mom!" Harper said as she entered the kitchen with Juliet.  Skylor and Seliel were sitting at the table.

"What is it, sweetheart?" Seliel asked her daughter.

"I was wondering if we could do some more training today.  I want to work on learning some more martial arts."

"Sure.  If you want to."

"And Mom," Juliet said to Skylor.  "I was wondering if I could work with you on my powers."

"Of course," Skylor said and the four of them went out to the training yard.

Kai walked into the living room to see Zeke reading a book.  Normally, he would be happy to see that since his son didn't like to read, but something seemed to be on his mind.  "What's up, kiddo?" Kai asked and sat down next to him.

"Just reading," Zeke replied.

"Is something on your mind?"

"Why do you ask?"

"You're usually not someone who likes to sit around and read.  I've had issues getting you to read for homework."

"And I thought that I should start reading more."

Kai took the book out of his son's hands.  "Tell me what's going on," he said seriously.

"Do I seem...dumb to you?"

"Why are you asking?"

"Because I'm the dumbest person on the team!" Zeke snapped at his father.

Kai was taken aback by Zeke's sudden outburst.  He spoke to Zeke calmly.  "You're not the dumbest.  You may not be book smart, but you're smart in other ways.  You were able to piece together when the others were walking into a trap one time.  You're smart in other ways and you don't need to feel like you're the stupid one of the team."

"Thanks dad.  I feel better now."

"No problem.  You can talk to me anytime."  Kai smirked as he thought of a way to change the subject.  "Now, tell me what's going on between you and Kyara."

"Dad!" Zeke groaned annoyed.

Rosie and Felix were in the Samurai X Cave.  Rosie was working on upgrades for her mech and Felix was searching for any signs of Alex and Max.  Zane and PIXAL walked in to check on their kids.

PIXAL walked up to Rosie.  "What are you working on?" she asked.

"Upgrades for the mech," Rosie answered simply.

"Are you sure that these upgrades are necessary?"

"I mean, not-" Rosie stopped herself.  "Yes.  I am sure."

"You do not seem like it."

"I am.  I am not second guessing myself.  I already do that too much."

"Is that what this is about?"  Rosie didn't answer and just continued with what she was doing.  "It can be good to second guess your decisions sometimes.  You do not need to be 100% sure about everything."

"But I have also second guessed myself while fighting and it has put myself and other members of the team in danger.  I need to be more sure of my decisions."

"You do not.  Second guessing can sometimes lead to avoiding what could be a massive mistake.  You should try to be more sure of your decisions in battle, but here, it is alright to take your time and think things through.  Make sure it is what you really want to do and it will actually help you and the team in battle," PIXAL said, referring to the upgrades.

"Thank you, mom."

"Of course."  PIXAL and Rosie hugged.

Meanwhile, Zane was talking to Felix.

"Did you find any sign of them?" Zane asked.

"No.  The probability of finding them is-" Felix stopped himself.  "The probability does not matter."

"Probabilities do matter."

"It just makes me an annoying know-it-all."

"You are a nindroid.  It is incredibly easy for you to calculate probabilities and not something you should be ashamed of."

"But people do not really like me when I do it."

"But they understand why you do.  They still like you.  The team still likes you.  Your friends from school still like you."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes.  I am."

"Thank you, dad."

"You are welcome."

Cole found Mason working on his balance close to where his wife was working with his daughter.  "What are you up to?" Cole asked his son.

"I'm trying to work on my balance," Mason replied.  "I got knocked off balance too easily."

"I can help you if you want."

Mason stopped what he was doing.  "I'm supposed to be the Master of Earth.  I'm supposed to be more grounded, but I feel like I'm not."

"Hey.  I'm your dad who you inherited your power from.  If you ever feel like you need help with anything, you can always talk to me.  I'm happy to help.  Ok?"

"Ok."

"I think that's enough for today, Harper," Seliel said to her daughter.  They had been working for a couple of hours already.

"No!" Harper said quickly.  "Let's keep going."

"We've been working for a couple of hours already and I think I taught you quite a bit."

"But there's still so much to learn."

"Harper, is everything alright?"  Seliel knew when something was wrong with her kids and something was clearly bugging her daughter.

"I don't have any powers!  I don't have a big mech!  All I have is my fighting skills!  I need to get better!  If I don't, I'm basically worthless!"  Harper was fighting back tears.  She was trying to be strong.

"You are not worthless.  You are a valuable member of the team.  Nobody thinks you're worthless."

"You're just saying that because you're my mom."

"I'm saying it because it's true.  The whole team knows it.  They may have powers, but they're weaker when they can't use their powers.  Rosie may have a mech, but she isn't that great of a fighter without it.  You are the one who doesn't need anything like that to be strong.  You're strong by your own skill."

Harper gave her mother a small smile.  "Thanks mom."

"I'm always here if you need anything."

"Alright, Juliet," Skylor said as she stood a safe distance away from her.  "Shoot fire at the middle dummy only."

"Middle dummy only," Juliet repeated to herself nervously.  "Got it."  She shot fire and it hit all three dummies that were lined up.  She groaned in frustration.

"It's ok," Skylor reassured her daughter.  "You just need some more practice."

"Practice?!" Juliet yelled in frustration.  "I've been training with my powers for three years and I still have issues controlling them!  I don't understand why I have to be the Master of Amber when I can't even figure out how to control my powers!"

"Calm down.  Being the Master of Amber is hard.  You can use the power of any elemental master and it can be overwhelming.  It's hard to learn to control one power when you get a new one by just touching another elemental master, but you can't be afraid of your power either.  If you fear your power, you won't be able to control it.  Don't fear your power, embrace it."

Juliet nodded.  "I guess I can try it."

"Good.  Do you want to try again?"

"Yeah."

Jay and Nya noticed how Justin was just sitting at the top of the stairs to get to the monastery.  He was just staring out into the distance which he isn't known to do.

"I'm going to talk to him," Nya said, but Jay stopped her.

"Let me handle this one," Jay said.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah.  You always talk to him when something is going on with him.  Let me take this one.  Why don't you go see what Lloyd and Britney are up to?" Jay suggested.

"Ok.  Call me if you need anything."  Nya walked off to go find Lloyd and Britney.

Jay walked up to Justin.  "Mind if I sit here?" he asked, gesturing next to him.

Justin was snapped out of his thoughts.  "What?  Uh...no."

Jay sat down next to his son.  "You ok?"

Justin sighed.  "Not really.  I feel like everyone is counting on me to know what to do, but I just don't.  I'm not a leader."

"Maybe not, but you need to be their leader right now.  They need you."

"Yeah right."

"You were the one who figured out that Emma was bad news.  You were suspicious about her and you were right to be."  Justin's gloom expression still didn't change.  Jay looked to make sure that Nya wasn't eavesdropping.  "I'm going to tell you something and I don't want you to tell your mother I told you."

"What is it?"  Justin's curiosity was peaked.

"One time my team and I faced an evil djinn named Nadakhan," Jay started.

"You told me this story when I was little."  Justin rolled his eyes.

"We didn't tell you everything.  We also changed parts of it because the true story isn't something that you would tell a kid as a bedtime story."  Jay sighed.  He knew that he had to tell his son the truth about what actually happened back then.  "We told the truth up until the part where I was captured by Nadakhan.  The truth is, I was actually tortured by him.  When your mother, Master Lloyd, and Master Cole found me, I was in bad shape.  We did tell you the truth when we said that only me and your mother were left after the rescue attempt.  She took care of my injuries as best she could when we were at the lighthouse, but Nadakhan found us and attacked.  She pushed me into the traveler's tea we had which sent me to my parents' junkyard.  I wasn't completely healed, but I had to find a way to save your mother.  Nadakhan wanted her because he wanted to marry her to gain infinite wishes.  I assembled a team and we went to stop him.  We managed to get the sword of souls and I went into it to get the others, but we couldn't stop the wedding in time.  Nadakhan got infinite wishes, but I still had one wish left.  Nadakhan's crew switched sides and helped us.  Flintlocke shot the venom at Nadakhan, but-"  He stopped himself and looked at his son's face which was horrified, but also curious.  "It hit your mother too.  She died in my arms."  A tear rolled down Jay's cheek and Justin hugged his father.  They don't usually have nice moments like this.  Alex is the one who has more moments like this with her father.  "My wish reversed time which saved her.  I had nightmares for months after it happened."  Jay and Justin pulled away.  "I didn't think that I would be in a position where I would have to lead the team, but I did."

"How did you do it?"

"I thought about saving the person I loved.  Love can be a powerful thing."

"Love," Justin said to himself.  "Emma can manipulate emotions, but..."

"What are you thinking?" Jay asked.

"Dad, you're a genius!"

"I'm lost right now."

"You just gave me an idea."  Justin got up and started to go to tell the others, but he first looked back at his dad.  "Thanks."

"Anytime."

A/N: Sorry this took so long.  I hope it was worth the wait.  I hope you enjoyed!
