"Hey (Y/N)." someone said.

I smiled and waved while stepping through Jamonikai village where Fairmont High School sits. I didn't have any practice on this Friday night but I did have plans. I wanted to go on a run around town and get to know Ninjago City better.

My phone vibrated and I glimpsed down at the screen.

Cole was calling.

"Yes?"

Cole-- "Got any plans?"

"I'm going on a run later. Trying to avoid any conversation about volleyball with Aunt Kelly."

"Have you called Bradley Hines?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because."

"Because what?"

"Just because."

"You ne--"

"Oh no! You're breaking up."

"Y/N..."

"I-- I cant-- goodbye."

I slammed my finger on the end call button and sighed with relief.

I finally reached my house with Aunt Kelly and skipped up to my room. I changed into lime green running shorts and a black t-shirt. I jogged downstairs and saw Aunt Kelly standing in front of the door.

"Your dad called." she said with her arms crossed.

"Oh. How is he?"

"Who is Bradley Hines?"

"No one."

"Y/N Brookstone!"

"He's a volleyball scout, nothing important.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Like I said, it wasn't important." I admitted, shrugging my shoulders.

"Sweetheart, anything concerning you is important."

"Yeah, it's just some guy, well, the best volleyball coach in all of Ninjago, but I'm going into college anyways, not that I would make the team but it would be fun, but it doesn't matter. It's fine."

I grabbed my ear buds and cell phone and walked out of the house, smiling at my aunt who was processing what I just told her. It was true, I didn't really care about this guy, I'm going to college, what's the point in going out for a club.

I started taking a walk around the area, not starting my run yet. I had to 'warm-up' first. Just before I started picking up my feet to run, I got in incoming call, pausing my music. I groaned and answered the call, pushing my earbuds farther into my ears to hear the conversation, the caller ID said it's from Lloyd, so I can be happy.

"I like you." he blurted out from the phone. I froze, not knowing what to say, "A lot." he added. I looked around, still confused. I don't know what I was looking for or at but... wow. "Oh, this is Lloyd by the way." he continued, probably waiting for a response.

"Well that takes bravery." I finally breathed out, finding my reply. I could almost hear his frown from the other side of the phone, "Oh-- sorry..." he whispered, I jumped in before he could hang up the phone, "I like you too." I rushed out.

I waited for his reaction, this is nervewracking, "Yes!" I heard farther away from the phone, I only hear frequent cheering, causing me to laugh.

"You there?" I giggled. "Oh, right! Sorry, I was just rubbing it in your brothers' face that he was wrong." he excused. Wow, Cole didn't think I liked Lloyd, that's a conversation for another time though.

"So-- that took guts, greenie."

"Well I am a ninja."

"Oh shut up."
