When You're Working - Kai
On a rainy Wednesday evening, I was standing in my grandmother's retirement home with nine elderly men and women in front of me. The home had asked me to come in to teach an art class and offered to pay for three months of my grandmother's stay, it was an offer I couldn't refuse. Especially since the last time I had been to visit my grandmother was a week ago with Kai, who was able to finally meet her.
So as I thought about the good memories of Kai and my grandmother meeting, I was gently moving my brush up the canvas with soft strokes. A smooth pattern graced the white sheet and a mixture of red and blue molded to form purple for the image I was creating.
Though I would have loved to sit for hours and teach my grandma's friends, the class was over and I had fifteen minutes to relax before my next session. I had planned to use my break to wash my hands that were covered in red and blue, but I was disrupted when someone entered the room.
"Wow, everywhere I turn I see talent," Kai's voice echoed, making a smile form on my face as I set my brush down and turned. "What are you doing here?" I wondered, accepting his hug and peck on the lips.
He shrugged, "I was delivering flowers to your grandmother when I heard that the famous Y/N L/N was teaching a class. I thought I might observe."
"You brought flowers for my grandmother?" I awwed. He grinned, "It's the least I could do to show my thanks for raising you. Besides, who said I can only appreciate you? You're grandmother's been here all along, and I don't plan on taking her place."
"I could kiss you," I laughed. "But, I won't. Because I have paint everywhere," I added in, a frown forming on Kai's lips. "What if I risk it?" he pleaded. I shook my head, "Sorry, flame-thrower. Maybe after the next class."
