When You're Safe - Kai

Third Person

The entire shopwas silent once Y/N had showered and eaten after being rescued by Kai. She hadn't said but several words, those including questions asking if she could shower and eat and where the towels are. She was filled with fear after what had happened and because if it she was scared to do anything that wasn't hers to do. Kai had to assure her every few minutes that she didn't need to ask permission, but she clung to his side anyways so it didn't matter much.

She had left wherever she was hours ago now and the ninja were in the kitchen trying to find out who took Y/N and why, or if it was simply only for money. Kai, however, had his arm wrapped around her waist as he held her close on his bed. She stared off into space, horrors filling her mind. Kai's hand ran through her hair, knowing it's something she enjoyed. But she didn't move. Her fingers were bunched on the top of her shirt so she could hold him close.

Silence.

Y/N listened to the clock tick by, that being one of the few reliable things in her life. She heard it tick, then again, and again, and again. Every second. She would count to sixty, and then start over at one.

Over.

And over.

And over.

Sensei entered the room shortly after Y/N had reached 134 minutes and he smiled at Kai when the ninja lifted his head to see who was in the room. When he saw, he dropped his head back down and allowed the older man to walk further into his room. "She is in shock, Kai," he told him before placing a tea cup and plate on Kai's nightstand. "Be patient."

Kai glanced over at Y/N and slightly smiled, though she didn't move or look up at Sensei's entrance. "What's this for?" Kai wondered, nudging his head toward the tea. "It should help her sleep. God knows it helped me after my brother..."

Sensei stopped himself, not wanting to relive the dark moments of his life where his brother and him warred and his only family was lost. Instead, he nodded his head and walked to the door.

Kai smiled, "Thank you, Sensei. I don't know what I would do without you, you've done a lot for me over the years."

The man smiled and wrapped his hand on the doorknob, beginning to pull the door closed so the two could rest in privacy. However, Y/N shot up so quickly that Kai nearly fell off the bed. "Please leave the door open... please," she begged, watching Sensei smile reassuringly and nod before stepping away into the hallway that was lit so brightly.

Y/N stayed sitting up and staring at the open door as if she were in a trance. After a moment of wondering if she was going to lay, Kai placed a hand on her shoulder, "No one is going to hurt you here, Y/N. It's okay, I promise. You're safe, baby," he whispered, the girl finally giving in and laying back down. As the words left his mouth, Y/N's eyes watered. The begs and cries she let out during those lonely days filled her head and everything she needed to let out just poured.

"Do you want the tea Sensei made?" Kai asked as she laid down, her hand wrapping around his waist as she cuddled into his side. She didn't respond, she only let out a sob in his shirt to release her emotions. Kai looked down at her and tightened his grip on her, "It's okay, baby. It's okay," he repeated, his hand rubbing up and down her back as she screamed silent screams into his chest while struggling to breathe through her sobs.

"I got you..."

Nyaran a hand through her short black hair as she wandered through the halls of the shop. It was nearing dinner now and she had volunteered to see if the couple of the hour needed anything to eat, however, when she made it to Kai's room and knocked on the door frame, she poked her head in and smiled.

Her brother was holding his girlfriend tight, her right leg draped over his thighs as she laid half atop and half to the side. Their heads were laying next to each other and their breathing was soft and peaceful, both getting some much needed sleep.

Laying next to Kai's bed and leaning on the nightstand was his katana, possibly put there to assure Y/N he would protect her.

Nya smiled and leaned on the wooden frame, her arms folding across her chest as she admired the love in the room. "You did good, brother. You did good," she whispered before patting the door frame and walking away.

Kai did good. He saved his girl.
