I sat under a cherry blossom tree, my sketchbooks open in my lap. I was reviewing the plans for some smaller projects I'm working on. I returned the ultrasonic radar to the ninja a few days ago, I never actually saw their faces though.
I sighed to myself and stuffed the notebook into my blue backpack, the wind brushed my H/C hair into my face as I zipped up the bag. Once I brushed the hair out of my face I saw someone standing in front of me. I looked up to see Jay. "Oh hi." I said.
"Hey, Y/N." he responded, taking my hands and pulling me up. I smiled and leaned over, picking up my bag and pulling it onto my shoulder.
"So, what's up?" he asked me. I shrugged, "Not much. I just finished this major project for some clients." I told him.
He nodded, "What project?"
"I was repairing some ultrasonic radar for some ninja." I replied, beginning to walk to my house. Jay followed me by my side and seemed interesting. "Sounds cool. Ninja... wow." he awwed in astonishment.
"Yeah, I know. I was shocked that I was given the task."
"Seems like they only hire the best of the best. Ninja are particular."
"No kidding. Anyways, how are you?"
"I'm good, trying to blend in with society. Don't want to stand out, you know?"
I chuckled, "Yeah, I do. Being an inventor is somewhat looked down upon. You would know what I mean right? Like some people are just judging you for the worst."
"Oh of course. It's a hard business, being an inventor. But the ninja, who looks down on them?"
"Tell me about it. It would be hilarious if a ninja were an inventor, then they could sort of relate." I said as I reached the metal gates of my massive, white house. I stopped in front of it and waited for Jay to join me. "This is where I am." I said.
"Wow, massive home."
"Yeah well my parents are professional business people, they don't pay much attention to me. It's good though because I can be my own person."
"My parents pay too much attention to me." Jay laughed. I smiled, "Sometimes too much attention is better than no attention at all."
"You're right. Hey, um, I have to go. My, uh... Sen--mom is expecting me for dinner."
I nodded, "No problem Jay."
"Here! Take my number, and text me sometime." he said, handing me a white slip of paper. I took it and opened it up, seeing a number. "Sure thing. Bye Jay."
