Flumptober prompt: Next generation(you'll see the scene this inspired)

Kai's POV:
"And so that's the full story of this all," Morro concluded as he leaned against the table, leaning forward and bending one knee. I could tell a crushing weight had been lifted off of him. Hannah rubbed his back beside him comfortingly.
"Okay. So a few questions," Nya started. "I knew about the whole second chance thing, but why did you never tell us this?" Morro shrugged.
"Like I said, it's really sensitive to me. Brings up a lot of bad memories." She nodded.
"Alright. So you're physically 18, but like mentally 40 something?"
"Yes and no. I'm mentally 36."
"Bruh-" Jay shook his head. "This is crazy."
"So let me get this straight. This tiny girl-"I gestured to Hannah, running a hand through the spikes of my hair. Hannah narrowed her eyes. I shrugged. "It's true. Anyways you're telling me that she's your daughter? I see absolutely no resemblance! Dude! You're a giraffe and she's a worm." Zane raised a hand.
"I believe a better term for her would be an ant. She is a hard worker at times and carries things three times her size. She has lifted me before."
"Or a butterfly..." I rolled my eyes at Cole.
"Oh! A monarch butterfly! You think they are innocent until you realize they're poisonous-"
"We are not arguing about what bug Hannah would be!" Nya exclaimed.
"She could be a moth!"
"No, Skylor. I believe Zane has a fair point saying she is an ant."
"Pixal, Pixal, Pixal. She is obviously a wasp. She's small with a big attitude."
"Lloyd! She's-"
"Guys! Back to the topic!" Hannah just face palmed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jay scoot closer to Nya on the bench. Instantly I was on high alert.
Overprotective big brother senses are tingling. Be on your guard.
"Okay. But how do we know for sure that Hannah's your daughter?" Griffin asked.
"Both of their memories add up," Neuro noted.
"Yes, but still."
"Perhaps Pixal and I can perform a DNA test?" Zane suggested. Jay inched closer to Nya.
The suspect is closing in.
My eyes were trained on Jay.
"Yah. Why not?" Cole asked. "I mean, just to make sure it's true and that you guys' memories aren't adding up coincidentally." Was that sarcasm I heard? Le gasp.
"Okay. I'm fine with that."
"Perhaps a piece of hair will do." Morro pulled out a long piece of hair, while Hannah pulled an even longer hair off of her hoodie. And pulled. And pulled some more. Hannah muttered something about the struggles of girls as she pulled a tangled mess from her hoodie.
Jay was pressed against Nya's side.
The target is moving fast. At the ready.
Pixal and Zane pulled plastic bags out-where do these guys get this stuff?!-and placed the hairs in the bags.
Jay laid a hand on Nya's thigh.
Oh no he did not-
Prepare annihilation-on my count.
5...
Pixal and Zane walked out of the room to the secret room Pixal built. "So...can I still stay the night since my back's fine?" Nya nodded quickly while Skylor looked at her like it was obvious. We heard Pixal yell,
"Yes you're staying!" Cole chuckled at the synch these girls had. Unfortunately Hannah was still not clear on the obvious subject.
"Well, duh!"
"Ooh! We can do face masks, nails-"
"We can do each other's hair!"
"Oh! Can we watch Netflix?"
"Sure, Hannah. What do you want to watch?" Hannah squealed as she pumped her fists into the air.
"TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!"
"What is that?"
"They're mutant turtles who live in a place called New York!"
"What's New York?" Jay asked rubbed Nya's leg lightly.
4...
"I don't know, Jay. What's Ninjago?" There was silence. Even the cricket in the corner of the room was silent.
"A-anyways we can eat FOOD!"
"Food!"
"Food!" Pixal came running back in.
"It's a perfect match. Your DNA samples have shown that you are indeed her father." We all clapped and congratulated the new found father and daughter. Morro and Hannah shared a hug, a few tears in the corners of their eyes. I didn't know Morro could cry. (You know, cheesy family moments.)
I will admit that sometimes I was a little wary of the guy-I mean he possessed my best friend! But seeing him like this, vulnerable, happy, looking like he was a father...It made me accept the fact that he wasn't as bad a he used to be. He wasn't bad at all.
Unless he helped Lloyd with his pranks. Then he was bad. Very very bad.
3...
Jay was now drawing designs on Nya's leg.
"So now what?" I saw my black haired friend look at Morro as he spoke. (In case it is unclear, Cole said "So now what?")
"What do you mean?" Cole sat up straighter in his chair to answer the question.
"If you're her dad, then does that mean she's going to move here? I mean, you could request guardianship over her." Morro nodded along with Hannah.
"Yes...but we would have to go through her Aunt first. She never took a great liking to me."
"But Uncle Ryan did! And I'm sure he'd be happy to know you're alive! All you have to do is tell them what you told me, and they'd believe you. And I know that we shouldn't risk telling people secrets about this kind of stuff, but...I want to be with you, Dad."
"Aaaw! Hearty family moment!" PaleMan said as he walked down the hallway. (Lol this is now an inside joke for myself)
Jay whispered something in Nya's ear which made her blush. Oh he's really asking for it-
2...
"Yes, but if your Aunt and Uncle asked where you two would live, you would have to say the monastery, which would risk your identity," Lloyd commented. "Plus, you would have to tell them about Hannah's powers."
"Speaking of which, what are her powers?" Skylor asked. "I can't absorb them like I can others."
"Ah, yes. That's part of the type of powers she has. I will explain it all over dinner," Morro explained.
Nya's hand intertwined with Jay's as she leaned on his shoulder.
1-Oh. She's happy. Powering down...
"Oh yah! Dinner!" Cole exclaimed excitedly. "Hannah! You get to try my famous Chili!"
"Infamous Chili," Zane corrected.
"Horrendous Chili," I mumbled.
"Oh, I'm sure it can't be that bad," Hannah said with a smile to Cole. Cole beamed as he went into the kitchen. I internally laughed.
Hannah was about to find out about one of our worst fears.
Cole's cooking.
~•~•~
"You know what?" Hannah said as she placed her fork down after one bite. Her face was devoid of emotion. Cole looked at her with hopeful eyes as he sat up in his chair beside her dad. Morro wasn't going to let them sit next to each other. No way he would.
"Y-yes...?" None of us had eaten yet. We knew what to expect.
"I'm not a big fan of Chili, but this..." Cole squeezed his eyes shut, preparing for the worst. "This is AMAZING!" We all gaped at the blond haired girl. She scooped the forbidden meal into her mouth quickly, swallowing every last bit. I almost threw up in my mouth. How could she eat this stuff?! Cole grinned, straightening his ninja gi.
"How did you make this? You are an amazing cook, Cole!"
"What?! I am? I-I mean. Of course I am!" I think all of us had gone into shock. And it only worsened when Hannah asked for more. I could practically HEAR Cole say in his head, "Finally! Someone who appreciates good culinary artwork!"
"How can you eat this stuff?" Jay asked when Cole had left to get her more. Hannah shrugged.
"It's really good, that's how. You guys are seriously missing out!"
"Hannah! He burns water!" Hannah switched to geek mode.
"Technically, it is impossible to burn tap water. Wherefore he would be burning the pan." We blinked. And that's when my last brain cells died.
"Plus, I eat Pizza with Mustard-best combination ever! You guys have to try it!" Hannah thanked Cole as he smugly sat down, smirking at us that someone liked his cooking.
"That explains a lot." I barfed in my mouth again and then the backup brain cells died.
Hannah's POV:
The tart, savory taste engulfed my taste buds as I smiled, licking my lips. I couldn't understand how my friends thought the Chili was terrible. Some people just can't see true art, even when it's right in front of them.
There seemed to be an unusual tension between Morro and Cole. Like an unspoken defense. I didn't like it-I didn't want them to be upset. And then it occurred to me. As Morro's daughter, it was now his job to protect me. And one of the greatest battles a father can fight is...boys. Oh dear...
"So Morro. You said you'd explain to us what Pipsqueak here can do," Kai prompted. He smirked at me, knowing that he was purposefully trying to annoy me. I threw my hands in the air.
"So now I'm a mouse. Good to know, good to know." Kai shrugged. Skylor rolled her eyes with a smile as she lightly bumped her boyfriend in the ribs. Or, not so lightly. She was pretty strong, as apparently her light was really hard. Definitely don't get on her bad side. She can get mean; I learned that as soon as I met her.
"Right," Mor-my dad stated. My dad. It was foreign to me. A single word could hold so much meaning, and then claiming him as my father...it was amazing? Strange? I didn't know what it was, but it made me happy. "As you saw in the living room-" He was interrupted by one of the girls at the other end of the table. The ninja team weren't the only ones living in the monastery, meaning that almost all the other elemental masters lived there too. Even the annoying ones.
"Well, we weren't there. So no, Mister Windy, we didn't see." I bit my tongue. Oh that girl made me so mad. Age 18, Toxita, went by the name of Tox. Master of poison, as she looked like a snake who tried to mutate into a human. Just like on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(TMNT). One of the most popular girls at school and the biggest bully. She had green hair, angular green eyes, and green markings on her face, which she usually hid with makeup. And I'm not talking nice greens either-I'm talking pale neon, ugly colors-her makeup was even tinted green making her skin look green. Or maybe she was green. But somehow she was considered popular and pretty. If she took off the makeup and maybe wore a knotted blue or gray sweater, she would look very beautiful. I mean, she does anyway, but oh...all the green. It makes me scream internally. It's those little things that irritate me, and I have no idea why.
Morro cleared his throat, obviously irritated as well. "I am actually talking to the ninja and Samaria X only. Not you. You are welcome to listen in, but this does not have anything to do with you." She sniffed indignantly, going back to talking to Shade about the nerve of people. "Anyways. As you saw in the living room, Hannah's powers cannot be controlled easily. One slip and she could fatally injure herself or someone else. But because they are so powerful, they are especially good for fighting. Sometimes the Forgotten Elements are even better than elemental masters. Their powers are often a combination of different elements. Hannah's powers are a combination of nearly every element there is. Simply because her power is Space. Whatever makes up Space is her power." I blinked. That was a lot of power. I felt excited and yet I was also...scared. I didn't want to hurt my friends and family. What if I messed up with this stuff?
"So she can control Fire?" Kai asked, making a ball of fire in his hand for good measure. Morro-Dad-nodded.
"Absolutely. And Earth is another one of the elements that are easiest for her to control. That is part of where she gets her strength from. When you have a Forgotten Element the more powerful you are, the stronger you are."
"But what about water? Wouldn't that be part of Space?" Nya asked. "When we were in the living room you said she couldn't control Water." I tilted my head. Morro nodded.
"For some reason Water is very difficult for Space to control. I don't know why, but it is. Now Ice-that she can control. And if she uses Fire with the Ice..."
"She can create Water!" Skylor exclaimed. "That's why she can't control speed, energy or amber!"
"And sound," Morro added. "She can control Sound for some reason. I don't exactly know why. Some things about her power is unexplainable. Because she can control sound she is very much in tune with music and dancing. Am I right, Hannah?" I nodded.
"Yah. It's like it is a part of me. I feel things and see pictures with music." It was kind of awkward telling them these things, but they were my friends, so I shouldn't feel uncomfortable about it.
"Your power has been growing in subtle ways-it just became uncontrollable in the living room because the memories of Lillian's death came to mind." I swore I heard him falter when he said Mom's name, but Dad quickly collected himself.
"Well then you'll definitely pass Dad's test tomorrow, Hannah," Cole said with a smile. I smiled back, although I was a little unsure. Only if I could sing and dance properly. No big deal.
"So what else can she do?" Lloyd asked.
"Much more. Even I don't know the full length of her powers. That will reveal itself through training. I would suggest you start soon, Hannah. Now that your powers have been made apparent it will be harder to control." Once again I nodded. I didn't really know what I say. It was all so much to take in. I mean sure, I'd always been in tune with the elements but I thought that was just my imagination telling me I moved the flame of the fire. My mind said that it was normal for a hole in the ground to appear when I swore it wasn't there a second ago-I had just missed the hole the first time. And athletics and strength had always come naturally to me. But I just dismissed it all. I dismissed the way stars would wink at me, the way I could look straight into the sun and not go blind. The connection I always felt with Space. I dismissed it like it was nothing. But apparently it was something.
This whole time Wu had been listening closely, fingering his long white beard. His golden eyes never left me, and it was kind of unsettling. Suddenly he stood, grabbing his staff and pointing it across the table from me. He nearly stabbed me since his staff was coming right towards my head. It all happened in a split second-maybe less-but it was like time slowed. I saw the staff and reacted, moving my head out of the way in plenty of time. It was like time stopped.
"She is able to control Time as well," he stated. I nervously laughed.
"No, I just have quick reflexes from living with my crazy cousins. You will not believe how many times I have almost gotten hit with a baseball bat!" Jay laughed.
"Exactly! These people here are too wild."
"No, Hannah. Did you feel time slow? You controlled that. It has always been like that, has it not?" I hesitated, but had no choice but to nod. It had. "You will start training on Monday. Time is a part of Space."
"Add that to the list," Kai said to Zane. Zane seemed to scan something then a click was heard.
"Data added." Well. Looks like I'll be training next week.
~•~•~
We finished eating quickly then everyone was sent to their rooms for meditation time. I had no idea what to do, so I kind of awkwardly followed behind them. I had no idea where to go either. Luckily, I got some help.
"Not sure what to do?" Cole asked as he slowed his steps to go at my pace at the end of the line. And he still walked faster than me-why do tall people have to walk so fast? I shook my head, holding my hands on my arms, something I do when I am nervous. He smiled. "Here. Just follow me. I'll help you."
"Okay." I walked alongside him quietly. To be honest, I was actually looking at him but I disguised it by looking around the hallway in fascination.
He truly was a work of art. His hair was so perfectly messy yet tame, his eyes were like pools of chocolate, and don't even get me started on his eyebrows. I would faint on the spot. They were just so amazing. Handsome would be the right word for him. No, Angelic? No...how about-
"So here's my room," he said, pulling me out of my thoughts. I realized I had been staring, do I looked away quickly. A blush crept up my neck. He opened the door, revealing his bed room. His walls were black obviously, but there were also accent walls with brown and orange, some light curtains. He had a desk with an orange chair, and some black and brown bean bags by a small bookshelf. In one corner was a mat with a small tree growing by it. The light from his large window hit every place so perfectly, it didn't seem dark. And pictures. There were tons of pictures. Pictures of nearly every thing-his friends, places he wanted to see, places he had been, and a picture of a man who loosely resembled him. I walked over to it.
"Is this your Dad?" Cole smiled.
"Yah. Lead singer of the Royal Blacksmiths." I internally squealed. I was such a huge fan of the Royal Blacksmiths. A picture of a woman was beside Cole's father's picture. Her eyes were blue instead of brown, but her hair was the same as Cole's, and her smile matched his.
"And who's this?" I had an idea of who it might be as Cole smiled sadly.
"My mom. She died when I was young-she got really sick. Her name was Lily." I giggled slightly. He smiled. "What?"
"It's funny because your mom's name was Lily, which was my mom's nickname." He grinned.
"Yah, well. Guess that makes us even more similar." I looked at the pictures on his walls as he set up another mat beside his. One in particular caught my eye. I fingered it, tracing the figure on it.
"And this you. But you look so...different. Yet the same." Cole raised his head in question, then saw the picture I was looking at.
"Oh. That's a picture of me when I was a a ghost." My heart skipped a beat.
"W-what? You died?" It felt as if my heart was ripped in two-I mean he was here so obviously he came back to life but...the very thought of him dying made me feel like I was dying.
"Yah. Luckily we were able to turn me back after a while. It's a long story. But that's why I can do this." He punched his hands together and the orange glow returned, the black lines distracting me. He pointed to a jagged scar on his forehead. It glowed orange as well. "Got this scar from it too."
"But now you're alive."
"But now I'm alive," he repeated. I ran to him and wrapped my arms around him, digging my cheek into his chest. I breathed in the wonderful smell that was Cole. Cinnamon, vanilla, autumn leaves, and body odor.
"I'm glad." I looked up to see him blushing with a small smile. His arms wrapped around my waist as he pulled me closer in a hug.
"Me too." We stayed there for a few seconds. And them it got awkward. "S-so. Um. We should probably get to meditating. I nodded, biting my lip. Over his meditation spot were the pictures of his mother and father, and the team. Well, lots of pictures of the team. Back when they were younger-Lloyd had a BOWL CUT- Kai falling face first on the training course, Jay and Lloyd pranking Zane with slime, Pixal and Zane working on a project with Jay and Nya-the words 'Double Date' were written on it-and so many more. Each of them made you laugh or smile, each holding some kind of memory. There were also pictures of alliances on a bulletin board. So many pictures.
"Did you take these?" I asked. The quality was amazing. He nodded.
"Yah. Something I've always done. I've had this camera for years." He showed me a large, long lens camera.
"I have a camera too. I mean, it's a lot smaller but I didn't know you liked Photography." He placed a finger on his chin thoughtfully as he set the camera down.
"Is that what it's called? Photo-graphy?" We quietly laughed so that we didn't disturb anyone in the rooms meditating.
He sat down on his mat, motioning for me to sit across from him. I did, bringing my legs into a criss-cross-apple-sauce position. Cole did the same. "Alright," he started. "So what I like to do first is stretch a little. When you meditate, you want to be comfortable. You don't want to be trying to calm yourself when your shoulders hurt. Put your hands out in front of you and touch the floor." I did as told, very familiar with it as we slid our arms forward, stretching our backs. After a series of simple stretches, we sat up, and began the next steps. "Now as I said earlier, meditation should be comfortable. You'll want to hold your hands in a restingposition. Lloyd holds his up. Kai holds his in the air. Everyone has a different comfortable position. Now, place your hands on your knees. How does that feel?" My palms rested on my kneecaps, but it didn't feel right.
"Not good."
"Okay. Try them in your lap maybe?" I tried it and instantly I felt stable. I didn't know hands could hold so much balance.
"Perfect!" Cole smiled.
"Great. Now we can begin." The boy across from me laid his hands across his legs so that his fists were together softly. Then he closed his eyes. "Alright. I want you to close your eyes and imagine." My blue eyes shut lightly, and I was surrounded by black with slight light. "Imagine a landscape or a scene. It can be anything you want. A waterfall, a Prairie, anything. Now think about each detail of your picture, and focus on it. Let your thoughts flow like the wind across the grass, or like the waterfall. Think about the creatures in the water..." I didn't hear much else. I was trapped in the calm world of a waterfall and a small pond. The pond was murky, yet it still seemed clear and crystal blue, like it had never been touched by humans. My fingers became the water and thoughts slipped through them and I could hear every sound and feel every breeze. The koi fish swam around the stone in the center of the pond, their scales shining with reflection. I felt light and easy, like I could take on any challenge. It was as if nothing could take away my concentration. Yet I had no concentration at the same time. At some point I opened my eyes. Cole was still meditating, his arms and scar glowing faintly. I watched in awe at how perfect he was. He was my life source and he didn't even realize it. He was calm, and I was calm.
He opened his eyes and looked at me, and once again I was caught in the muddy brown of his irises. Tiny golden flecks were around his pupil. Or at least, thy looked gold. It could have just been from the sunlight. "Well?" He asked quietly with a content smile on his lips. Gosh I wanted I kiss him so bad right then.
"That was awesome." He smiled even wider.
"I'm glad you think so." Cole looked at the clock beside his bed. "Well, we've got plenty of time before everyone is done. Make yourself at home." I looked around the semi-large room, my eyes resting on the window. An orange and red light filtered through the curtains and open window, and it cast a serene glow on the room. Walking over to the window, I looked out at the breath taking view. The monastery was on top of a large cliff or mountain, and the sun was setting over the clouds, making the tops look pastel yellow.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" I turned to where Cole had crept up beside me. The light reflected off of his eyes and hair, his tanned skin making me think of a rose gold, but instead if gold it was an extremely light chocolate. It almost looked like there was an aura around him, and I caught myself looking at his face, committing it to memory yet again. The way his eyes creased over his slightly rounded cheeks, the way his dimples were so light at the corners of his lips. His very inviting lips.
The feeling was back. I wanted to kiss him so much, it was hard to resist the urge to grab him and plant my lips on his. Instead I responded quietly, eyes never leaving his lips.
"The sunset? Or you?" The look he gave me-oh my gosh. I can't even describe it perfectly. The way his eyes turned a light orange-brown, almost like an autumn leaf. The way he sharply breathed in, the way his cheeks turned a light pink. He whisphered quietly to me, my heart stopping.
"Not as beautiful as you." I couldn't resist it anymore. I leaned forward on my tippy toes-this guy was tall-and I kissed him.
My arms wrapped around his neck for balance, anchoring myself. His arms were around my back, pulling me even closer to him. I couldn't believe this was real as my eyes fluttered closed. But the rough yet smooth texture of his lips reminded that yes, this was real. I really was kissing the man I had fallen in love with after only a week. The man I couldn't get out of my head since I saw him the night before school started. The one that made my systems go into overdrive, made me trip over my feet. But I wanted to keep falling, because he was there to pull me back up.
He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear as I ran my fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck. His hair was really long, but I didn't mind it. I had always thought men should have short hair. Kind of ironic since Cole's and my dad's hair were shoulder length.
Oh gosh the taste of his lips was hypnotizing. It was like hot chocolate, with just the right amount of vanilla and cocoa powder. It made me step closer in a daze-was it even possible to be closer?-and nearly step on his foot. I could feel Cole smile into the kiss.
In books you always read about how they came back, gasping for air. How they never breathed. Pffft. We breathed. We breathed in at the same time, and it was like our systems were one. Our hearts beat at the same moment, our breath turned shocked at the same moment. I admit that I almost forgot to breath at the beginning. I was too trapped in his intoxicating smell, his strong arms, the way his lips moved with mine. The feeling was indescribable. Suddenly I felt something warm. It was a nice warm, but I couldn't help but wonder what it was. As hard as it was, I pulled away slowly. The warmth was from his arms, which were lightly glowing a pastel orange. I giggled as he sheepishly chuckled. We never moved out of each other's grasp. I turned back to look at him. I tried to communicate to him just how much I loved every single part of him as I brushed my finger over the jagged scar on his forehead. There weren't words that were worthy enough of him. In his gaze was admiration, love, and hope. His arms tightened around me as he pecked my lips once more. I was about ready to faint, but there were his arms holding me up.
"Your eyes are gold again." I blinked.
"Really?"
"Yah," he said as he hugged me. "It's really pretty." I blushed, hugging him back.
"You know...that was my first kiss." Cole grinned against my hair, kissing the top of it. You will not believe how grateful I was that I had washed my hair the night before.
"Me too." Suddenly he pulled away. I tried not to look too clingy when he did, but I wanted him with me so much it hurt. He turned to look out the window. "Hannah? What if I wanted you to be my girlfriend? What would you say? What would you be feeling?" I gaped. He-Wah-h-he...? Oh my gosh. I decided to go for the honest answer, like a good person.
"I'd say yes. I'd be ecstatic, delighted, overwhelmed, and filled with so much happiness I wouldn't be able to explain it." I put a hand on his hand, causing him to look at me with those hopeful eyes. I needed to say it. "I really love you, Cole. And I know that we've only known each other less than a week, but you're the air that I need. The sun of my day. I can't live without you. I realized that on the first day we officially met. Ever since then I've fallen for you even more. If that's possible. They say we need water to survive. Cole, I need you to survive!" He rubbed my hand with his own, gazing at them on the widow sill.
"You'd get bullied because you are with me. I don't want that."
"I'm already bullied. I have been all my life. It's nothing I couldn't handle." He chuckled as the memory of Two-Face-Playboy circled in our heads. "And people can say what they want, but none of that matters. What matters is you." I place my other hand on his cheek which he nuzzled into with a smile.
"Hannah?" I hummed as he pulled me close again. "Will you be my girlfriend?" And once again I kissed him.
This kiss was deeper as I tried to tell him what I said was true. Every word of it was true. He understood, because he pulled back and looked me in the eyes. "You took the words right out of my mouth, Hannah. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And I know we're young and new to this relationship stuff, but I want you to be there with me. Each step of the way. I mean, I don't want your dad to kill me, but hey! It would be worth it. Just write on my grave 'His girlfriend's dad killed him.'" Maybe I cried, maybe I didn't. I just remember hugging him as I breathed him in, laughing. The next time I looked at the clock it was 7:30. The sun had almost officially set and only a few red rays crept through the window. This day had quickly become my favorite.
~•~•~
"You what?" Nya asked in shock as she dropped the makeup brush. I blushed even more, although I couldn't shake the giddy feeling in my stomach and heart. I almost felt dizzy, but it was a good kind of dizzy.
"I kissed him," I repeated. Skylor squealed. I repeat; she squealed.
"Finally! It's taken far too long!" Nya laughed as she picked her brush up again.
"It's been a week, Sky. Less than that." Skylor shrugged nonchalantly.
"So?" I just laughed as I worked on putting the Chia seed and banana mask.
"Are you sure you are not rushing things?" Pixal asked with slight concern. I will admit, that was something Cole and I had discussed. We were worried at first, but then we decided against it. It was alright.
"Oh come on, Pix. Everyone knows they're in love. Plus, that was Hannah's first kiss! We need to celebrate!" Skylor reached under her bed. Really it was Kai and Skylor's bed, but the boys were having their own little slumber party in the living room. I wondered what the boys were doing.
"Oh yah! It's a tradition-when one of our friends get their first kiss we celebrate with a special treat. It's Skylor's turn to supply the treat."
Said red head(lol that all rhymed) pulled out a wooden box. She placed her thumb on a little square, and it popped open. "Trust me," she said as she pushed aside tissue paper. "This is not dramatic with the whole thumb print thing. Kai would eat these things up if I didn't have it." She opened her hands to reveal little golden, honey brown colored flowers.
"What are they?" Nya asked.
"A secret recipe from my mom. They used to be on the menu at the noodle shop but Dad took them off after she died." She handed us a few each and got some for herself, claimed the box, then slipped it under the bed again. They looked at me expectantly.
"You go first Hannah. After all, it was your kiss," Pixal explained.
I bit into the flaky textures dessert, crumbs falling into my chin. I was immediately greeted by honey, sugar, paper thin crust, and a citrus taste that disappeared after a second as was replaced by the taste of berries. "Oh my gosh-These are amazing, Sky!" The girls joined in and we all talked and laughed as they told the stories of their first kisses and dates. Turns out that Skylor had a few almost kisses before she finally got to kiss Kai on their fourth date. Nya's first kiss was from Jay's other self created by Garmadon-to which she refused he was acting really smooth-and then she was finally able to kiss Jay. Pixal kissed Zane first not a very long time ago, when he came back from the Never Realm. And then they started talking about first dates. Kai was a hopeless romantic who would try to get Skylor wrapped around his finger, but it ended up being he around her finger. Nya and Jay were constantly having cute romantic moments together in the garage or Jay would try to impress her which would end up with them cuddling or at the amusement park. Pixal and Zane were just the cutest. Zane was hilarious with her, and Pixal understood his humor perfectly. Plus, when they want no one to hear what they say, they talk in binary code, which was super cute!
I also learned that every boy has a dating style. Kai liked to take Skylor to fancy restaurants, Jay would almost always take Nya to an amusement park or a movie-Nya loved food obviously-and Pixal and Zane would often go to drive in movies, or they would go to a museum. They also gave me some tips.
Boys seemed to like it when girls are flirty, but also follow the boy. That's something that I knew I would have a hard time with. I'm a leader, not a follower. Well, sometimes. They also told me to accept compliments. Don't try to hard to impress. Listen. Be kind. Tell them when they messed up. Run fingers through their hair. Give them hugs. Cuddles. So much information-I thought my head would explode. Aside from that they told me things not to do, what is strictly forbidden, etc. Finally they breathed, and I was able to suggest that we watch some shows. I didn't want to hear the details of Skylor's last make out session with Kai, I thought with a small laugh.
We looked through Netflix, finding a child hood show. It was an immediate yes, because Pixal had never seen it. We sang with the theme song. "My Little Pony! I used to wonder what friendship could b-"
The door burst open and a frazzled mop of blond hair and green pajamas appeared in the doorway. "Are you watching My Little Pony without me?" He seemed genuinely hurt. We laughed as we nodded. Immediately he ran down the hall shouting the theme song, then came back with a blanket, pillow, and stuff animal, all My Little Pony themed. He unzipped his green jacket to reveal a My Little Pony onesie, then fell in front of the tv, humming the tune, saying everything they were going to say, and quoting every meme. Fun fact I learned that night-Lloyd is a die hard My Little Pony fan.
We had been watching the cheesy kid show for about an hour when there was a knock on the door and Kai popped his head in. Nya was applying makeup to Skylor-which I found ironic because she shouldn't sleep in makeup-Pixal was braiding my hair and Lloyd was helping us paint our nails. He did surprisingly well. I was busy with the very important job of eating. Let me tell you store bought pretzels are AMAZING! Kai didn't seem the least fazed at the fact that Lloyd was watching flying unicorns with us. "Ah. You're watching MLP. No wonder he disappeared." Jay poked his head underneath Kai's.
"Can we join you guys? Were bored of video games, plus we have some questions for a small girl who goes by the name of Cole's Princess."
"I said that one time you guys! Once!" Cole yelled in exasperation as he smacked Jay on the side of his head. Zane nodded.
"Yes you did. And that gives us full rights to use that against you according to your list of Friend Rules you made a year ago." Cole groaned as the team laughed. I just blushed, trying not to focus too hard on the nickname.
"Yes, you can join us," Skylor answered. Lloyd frantically wielded his MLP plush.
"But no one can change the show! My Little Pony stays on! Or I will make sure your training is torture!" They all nodded nonchalantly. The boys plopped down by their girlfriends, staring me and Cole down. Cole had been sitting on the bed I was leaning against, but he slid down to join me when they started staring.
"So..." Jay started. "We heard some interesting news, Hannah."
"What kind of news?" I decided to play dumb. Maybe I could find out what Cole had said about me. He seemed to catch what I was doing.
"It was all good news, Miss Snoop." He looked at the bag of pretzels in my hand. "You got any more of those?" Rolling my eyes I handed him the bag, to which he immediately dug in. "Man these are salty." I gaped.
"No they aren't! They're so bland-they need more salt." Cole just chuckled as he pulled me against him. I still wasn't used to that yet, so it was a little weird. Plus, the team was watching us like hawks. Talk about awkward. Suddenly, Skylor got an evil smirk on her lips.
"Hmm...you know...now that you two are dating-" my heart clenched at the thought "-there are some official traditions you need to follow," she said. Kai tilted his head.
"There are?" Sky 'discreetly' elbowed his side. He disguised his sound of pain as a cough. "O-oh! Right! Of course!"
"The traditions?" Jay asked. Sky shot him a glare. "Oh! Those traditions!" Lloyd rolled his eyes.
"Well, Skylor. Why don't you tell us these traditions?" he suggested. The amber eyes girl nodded.
"Alright. So tradition number one." I think Nya and Pixal were the only ones who knew what was going on. "Girls? The juice please." They nodded solemnly, grabbing a juice bottle from our food stash. Nya unscrewed the cap as she handed it to me.
"The first tradition is to share the same juice." The boys eye all lit up in remembrance.
"Oh yah! Now I remember this!" Jay yelled out.
They all looked at us, prompting me to drink from the orange and mango flavored drink. I brought the drink to my lips. Reality set in as I took a large gulp. Cole was supposed to drink from this too. A boy. Blushing, I concentrated on willing myself to not backwash accidentally.
I handed it to Cole, who took a big drink without hesitation. With a sound of refreshment, he licked his lips to get the excess juice off. And I will admit that one gesture was very smooth. He did it nice and slowly on purpose, because he knew I was looking at him. I could see it in the way his lips wanted to pull into a smirk.
"Good," Skylor stated, regaining her mock professionalism. "Now. Tradition number two." She pause for dramatic effect. "The transition of hoodies." Our eyes widened.
"Dun dun duuuuuun!" I turned to Jay.
"Cole. As the man of the couple, you must remove your clothing item that is referred to as a 'hoody' and Hannah must wear it," Zane explained. Okay-I could work with this one.
Cole did as he was told and pulled off his black hoody. He handed it to me after I pulled mine off. I looked him in the eyes, a smile tugging at my lips. "You do know you probably won't get this back, right?" He dramatically sighed with a sad frown.
"Believe me. I know." Grinning, I slipped it on and was immediately swamped in the cozy material.
"That thing swallowed you up!" Lloyd laughed. I laughed with them as I was enveloped in the smell of Cole. It was nice-warm, cozy, and made me feel protected for some reason. It felt like I was wrapped in his arms again.
"Oh yah. I'm gonna steal this a lot more often." Cole made a dramatic sound of distress. Pixal blinked as if she was reading something.
"It is 11:00. I believe that we should rest for training tomorrow." I tilted my head in question.
"Saturdays are training days, but luckily only for half a day unless Wu decides we need extra training," Cole explained.
"You can sit in there while we train so you can get the idea of what you'll be doing, Hannah," Lloyd suggested. I nodded.
"Good idea." A yawn escaped from Jay's mouth and we all settled into a circle on the floor, Kai and Skylor getting the privilege to share their bed. I laid on the pile of blankets, resting my head on the pillow that was given to me. Kai and Skylor had hundreds of pillows in their closet. No one knew it, but they were both hoarders.
I brought my knees up to my chest with a content sigh as Zane killed the lights. I still wasn't able to sleep. Half an hour must have passed, because I heard snoring beside me. The culprit-Nya. I held in my laughter. Jay instinctively covered his ears in his sleep. Pixal and Zane were laying beside each other, hands intertwined as their systems turned off slowly for their rest. I could hear Kai talking in his sleep, and Lloyd was mumbling the MLP theme song as he cuddled his plush. My mind went through all that had happened today. It was so much for me to take in, but I thought that I finally fully understood. I'd been given powers to help protect my world, I guessed. Morro was my dad, and Cole was now my boyfriend. Oh'd no. Morro was my dad which meant he probably kill Cole. I'd have to butter him up as my Aunt says before we tell him-
A hand was laid across my stomach while I laid on my side. Before I could react, I was swiftly pulled into two large arms. A face nuzzled into my hair, mumbling the name "Teddy" in his sleep. Cole. I was about to wake him up since it was probably not good for my rib cage when he squeezed me, but the smile on his lips made me change my mind. No, I had never cuddled a boy before, and Yes, I thought that this was a little sudden, but Lloyd had shared with us girls earlier that Cole cuddled in his sleep. He found that out on a stake out mission, when it was just Lloyd and Cole and Lloyd made the mistake of being 2 feet near him in his sleep. Plus, cuddling was something I always did in my sleep, so I understood.
Plus, if I admit it, I hadn't realized how touch starved I was my whole life until that moment. I was calm, happy, and felt like I could rest fully for the first time in 4 years. My eyes slipped closed in a few minutes, and I whispered a goodnight to nobody as the clutches of sleep grabbed a hold of me.
~~~
"Tradition number three-the first cuddle," was the first thing I hear when I woke. Skylor was standing over me with a crap-eating grin, Lloyd snapping a photo for blackmail probably. I mean, that's what I would do. I groggily rubbed my eyes, only to feel the arms around me tighten with a groan as the light was turned on.
"Nuuuuuu!!! It's too bright!" Cole exclaimed. I had to agree as I shielded my tired eyes.
"Well. You two are officially a certified couple. Your certificate," Skylor looked at Zane who handed her a paper tied in black and pink ribbon. "All hail the new lovers!" Everyone but us laughed and cheered. Cole and I looked at them with lidded eyes, hair a mess and legs refusing to get up. And then we fell back asleep.
"Nope!" Jay yelled a second later. "Cole's showering second. It's my turn to go first!"
"No it isn't! It's mine!"
"No!"
"I believe you are all mistaken." Their voices were drowned out as they ran off to their rooms. Cole and I groggily pulled ourselves off of the blankets on the floor with tired groans.
"Morning people, am I right?" I mumbled with a half-awake laugh. He chuckled, waking up considerably faster than me.
"You better get used to it-if you ever stay the night again you'll be up before the sun. On weekdays that is. We at least get to watch the sunrise before training on weekends." I dramatically laid my hand against my forehead.
"No! I shall never stay the night again!" Then I shrugged. "Oh well. I mean, my Aunt gets me up on Saturdays at that time too. And on weekdays I have to get up early to get to school. Nothing I can't handle." I pumped my fists as Cole shook his head.
"Alright, Miss Zombie. Whatever you tell yourself." For a moment he stopped talking, and just stared at me. I started getting a bit self conscious as I tried to fix my bed hair. "I love you." I stopped trying to rip apart the rats best in my hair. I nervously chuckled, trying to calm the butterflies in my belly.
"W-well that was random." He shrugged, placing a hand on mine.
"But do you mind of I say that? I don't want to make you uncomfortable." He seemed genuinely concerned when he asked that.
"Oh no! Not at all! I really like hen you say that, Cole. Besides. It's hard to make a girl uncomfortable when you use her as a human body pillow." I tried my hardest not to laugh as he sheepishly scratched his head with an embarrassed smile.
"Yah, uh...sorry about that."
"It's no problem. You should do it more often." And with that I wrapped my arms around his neck and quickly planted a kiss on his cheek. Before he could react I walked out the door. Hannah is out. 😎
~~~
"So, what are you guys gonna name your kids?" I laughed as Jay looked at me. Ah shoot. He was looking at me. That meant he was talking to me. My laugh turned into a choke.
"A-ah-uh-um-w-Wah?" Nya elbowed her boyfriend as Dad straightened.
"Excuse me?" Oh dear. That tone of voice did not seem good. He was too calm. Way too calm. Jay wasn't the least fazed as the group shook their heads and mouthed no.
"Oh yah! We haven't told you yet but Cole and Hannah are dating now and so we have to decide on kid names for when they get married in a few years!" Cole face palmed in time with Kai. I slumped farther into Cole's hoodie, pulling the draw strings tighter around my face.
"Hannah?" My eyes widened as I bit my lip.
"Is there something you need to tell me?" It wasn't a question. It was an order.
"No...?"
"Hannah and Cole are a thing now, Morro. Get over it," Kai stated. I pursed my lips. Oh boy.
"Uh-huh. I see. Well then. Mister Brookstone." Dad turned to my boyfriend who had managed to find a seat beside me before my father got there. "If you so much as harm one hair upon her head, there will not be a single bone left in your body. Understood?" I could tell that was not an empty threat. Morro possessed the skill to do it. Cole nodded.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
"Good. Now let me lay out some rules. First of all there will be no physical contact. Second of all there will be no breathing the same air. Third, you must never share a drink or food with each other-"
"Oh yah. All those rules were broken last night." I gave Skylor a "thank you Mister Helpful" look. Dad's gaze zeroed in on me.
"Well look at the time! I'm supposed to call my aunt right now. Thanks for the pancakes, Zane!" Running away from prying eyes, I ran out the room. Then I walked backwards back in. "Can I use someone's phone?" Nya laughed and threw me her device after she opened the passcode. Typing in my Aunt Lee's number, I walked back out leaving the team to eat in somewhat peace.
"Leeana-"
"Hey, Aunt Lee!"
"Hannah! Are you alright sweetie?" As alright as you can be with finding out you have powers and a dad and are now dating the love of your life?
"Yah. I'm good."
"Oh, good. Did you eat?"
"Yes, Aunt Lee. I had a good breakfast." I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"I'm just making sure!" She defended.
"Well, if you must know, Zane prepared a pancake buffet for everyone. We had a kind of mini-sleepover." I had to choose my words carefully.
"Oh, I just have to meet your friends! You should invite them over later today! Or tomorrow!" I grinned.
"Really?"
"Absolutely! The sooner I meet these people, the better! And if I remember right, you're going with Cole to his father's studio to take the test, am I right?" I nodded before remembering she couldn't see me.
"Yep. How about I invite them to come over tomorrow?"
"Perfect! I'll make a special meal for them. What will they eat?" I laughed.
"Anything. Well, except Cole's chili which is actually really good."
"Hannah, you eat pizza with mustard, so we cannot trust your taste buds." I heard a laugh and my Uncle agreeing in the background. "Well, alright, Hannah. What time do you think you'll be back by?"
"Dinner time? Yah, that sounds pretty decent."
"Good, good. What do you want for dinner?"
"Pizza and mustard," I stated with a grin. I could hear her eye roll as she laughed.
"Hannah Schumann-you are a strange girl."
"Thank you." We said our goodbyes and I love you's, and then hung up. Well, my aunt hung up. For some reason, I didn't like hanging up. Maybe because I was afraid they were going to say something after I hit the end call button. I shrugged.
Handing the phone back to Nya, I cleared my spot at the table, washed my dishes-I was doing my best to have good manners which I didn't do for just any people-and by that point everyone was doing the same. Pixal eyed me.
"Hannah?" I hummed in response as I pulled my hair into its usual ponytail. "You and Cole never answered Jay's question." Cole tilted his head.
"What question?" The android blinked.
"What you would prefer to name your children someday. Preferably in a few years." In a split seconds I scanned the room, but luckily Mo-Dad wasn't in here.
"Well?" Lloyd prompted.
"Lily," Cole and I said in unison.
"Well that was...okay. And what if you have a boy?" We shrugged.
"I dunno. I like the name Damien."
"Brock is a good one too." Cole stopped. "Why are discussing this again?" They all shrugged.
"Just a thought." I raised an eyebrow.
"Uh-huh..."
The rest of the morning passed in a flash. Or, as fast as it can get when you spend most of your morning watching your friends pull off some incredibly professional moves while they train. I swore Cole was showing off. To be honest, even though they were all sweaty and tired, I was excited to train soon too. Finally, the urge to exercise got the best of me, and I wandered into a room which resembled a weight room. Some other people were in it-apparently "you had to exercise on Saturdays" applied to everyone or you'd get kicked out of the monastery. Griffin, Ash, and Shade were doing some machines-I can never remember the names of the machines-and a slightly pudgy man with brown hair and a really bushy beard was lifting some small weights, and an extremely tall man with a black beard and hair who looked to be made of metal was doing a bench press. Neuro was spotting him. Griffin caught my eye as I poked my head in.
"Hey, Hannah. Need help finding something?" I was about to answer when Neuro spoke for me.
"It appears she would like to join us." Ash and Shade laughed after a few seconds of silence. Bushy beard guy laughed along with them.
"Pipsqueak here?" I bit my lip at Shade's remark. "She wants to try? Pfft. Be my guest." Griffin held back a smirk. He knew what I could do. I smirked myself, biting te is side of my cheeks.
"So, is that an okay?" The metal man shrugged.
"We do not own the room. But no one beats Karloff." His voice was quick and in short syllables. Seemed nice enough. Neuro laughed when he read my thought.
I calmly walked over to a bench press, quickly stretching my arms and legs. I was very aware that they were all watching me. When I pulled off Cole's hoody, Ash's mouth dropped. Not to brag or anything, but yah, I was pretty muscular. I laid on the bench, lifting my arms up to hold the bar after putting some extra weights on it.
"Need a spot?" Griffin asked. I shook my head.
"Nah." Years of lifting the bars alone had gotten me used to not being spotted, so it always felt weird when someone did. And so I lifted.
And lifted.
And lifted some more.
A while later, shouts could be heard as they cheered me on-except for Ash and Shade of course. I lifted the bar one last time before wrong it down, raising a hand to my forehead. Ha. Barely sweat. After that I did some jump rope and bar squats, making chit chat with Karloff and Bolobo. Turns out Bolobo didn't talk much, and Karloff was a gruff guy, but I got them to laugh more than once, which made me feel accomplished. Bolobo was also the master of plants and Karloff the master of metal. I explained to them that I was Morro's daughter, and apparently master of space, which thy thought was kind of cool. All in all they were pretty nice.
"Hannah?" I turned to the sound of the yell from where I was sitting on a bench, lifting a dumbbell. The source of the voice peeked into the room after calling my name again. "Oh! There you are! I wanted to let you know that you can take a shower if you wanted." Nodding, I stood up.
"Cool. Thanks, Nya." She nodded then went to run off and do who knows what. I already get at home.
"Karloff thinks that you will go?" I nodded.
"Yep. I need to clean up before Cole and I head to his dad's studio."
"Oh, Earth man pretty girl's crush." I blushed as Griffin snickered.
"Well, boyfriend actually," I corrected. Griffin and Neuro's eyes widened.
"So he actually got guts? Dang!" After I said my goodbyes and "see you later" 's, I looked for Nya.
I finally found her in the garage-which was actually part of the living room!-building something with a blow torch. "Yo, Nya!" I yelled. She looked up after a minute.
"Yah?"
"Do you have any extra clothes?" She grinned.
"Nope. But Pixal used her 3d printer and made you some." I blinked. Nya acted like it was totally normal, but then, she lived with two robots. "They're on Cole's bed." I raised an eyebrow. Oh. I see.
"Ok thanks!" She went back to her project, welding some kind of vehicle. I walked to the room where just yesterday I had kissed a boy. I giggled at the memory.
I turned to the bed and found a pile of extremely neatly folded clothes. Pulling the articles open, my jaw dropped. I wasn't a girly girl, but I knew enough to know what was pretty and what wasn't. But the outfit Pixal had made was gorgeous.
The shirt was a creamy white-tan color, and around the neck were golden designs. The short was tied into a knot on one side. There were pale jeans that looked worn but new, and a teal knitted sweater that was large enough to show the designs at the neck. There was a velvet black scrunchie for my hair, and a pair of small diamond earrings, which were my birthstone. The sweater even had a large pocket on the front! Just as I thought my day couldn't get any better, it did.
The door opened and in walked a sweaty Cole. The light caught him perfectly and his eyes closed as he swept a hand through his hair with a groan. "Dang, Master Wu. Why do we have to do so many flips?" It was then he noticed me, and he ran right at me. In an instant I had been knocked down and was under the massive creature they called Cole. His hands tickled my sides and I couldn't help but hysterically laugh.
"Cole B-Brookstone! You better st-stop!" He just grinned, knowing that I wouldn't stop him. Finally he stopped and I was able to breath.
"Hi, Hannah!" He sounded too innocent. I suspiciously raised and eyebrow.
"You are evil." He grinned his toothy grin.
"I know." His brown eyes drifted to the pile of clothes on the bed and the open bathroom door. "You gonna take a shower?"
"Yah. I want to be clean before I meet your dad. You know-first impressions." He nodded.
"First impressions are big with my dad. Better do something with your hair too-he's kin of picky about girls he teaches." We sat for a few minutes in comfortable silence.
"Of course, if you don't mind I'll use your shower..."
"No it's fine! I was going to say that anything in this room is yours. You are welcome to claim it as your own-I mean, if that's okay and doesn't sound too weird." I giggled at his blushing face. But I knew there was an evil demon underneath his smile-the tickle demon.
"I think that's nice. Thanks." He bowed dramatically.
"Of course, Princess." I give palmed in an attempt to hide my blush.
"Alright, Cookie Monster. I'm gonna shower now." Cole laughed as I walked into the bathroom. I heard him nutter something about why I would call him a name after a puppet.
The shower was soothing against my muscles, and any grime on me went down the drain like a hurricane. I watched as it did so, then tried to find pictures in the tiles on the shower walls. I found a weird pony, a malformed dog, and a guy who's chin was way too big. After I finished(apparently Pixal had provided me with every single toiletry I could ever need)I dried off and got into the new clothes. They fit perfectly, and I let my hair air dry. The only thing I didn't like was that the jeans hugged my bottom a little too tightly, but it was probably me just being insecure. Yah, that was it.
Hands in my front pocket, I walked out of the room. Then I backtracked. Searching the bathroom, I noticed thy my hoodie was nowhere to be found. As well as my other clothes. Cole was laying on his bed, doing some homework. I remembered if have to make up mine on Monday. Yuck.
"Hey, Cole? You seen my hoodie by any chance?" He looked up an his eyes widened.
"Woah," he whispered. "I-uh no. No I haven't." Very aware that he was staring, I stiffly walked out of the room in search of one of the girls. I found Skylor.
"Hey, Sky?" She hummed in reply as she tightened the ponytail atop her head. Her orange gi was right against her body. "Have you seen my hoodie?" She smiled.
"Yah. We took your clothes to the washer so they could get washed. Pixal thought it would be nice." I gasped. My hoodie!
"Hoodie!!!" Running down the hallway, I search for a laundry room. Finally, I found it by following the sound of tumbling clothes. "Hoodie! It's alright! Don't worry! You'll be okay!" Skylor rushed in with the girls behind her.
"Hannah? Are you okay?" My lip quivered.
"My hoodie..." And so I mourned the fact that after 2,000 years, my hoodie was actually getting washed.
AN-They have to take turns for showers so there is enough warm water. Except for Zane-he's Frosty the snowman
I promise there will be an update again tomorrow! Or this morning you could say. So thank you again! The next chapter is where we get an intro to our villain and then we see him more and more!
*laughs evily*
