4~~~+Flumptober #1, 3-4
So, the first prompt for Flumptober was "Inspired by a funny meme or bo ok quote". Third prompt was Inspired by a song, and the fourth was "Your feet stink!" I ended up not doing prompt #2(AU), because I am currently working on my 100 follower special which is an AU. So anyways-
Hope you like it!
Lloyd's POV:
Usually, I was wide awake in the mornings, sipping a glass of chocolate milk and trying to eat a donut before Cole came and took them all. But today? Oh no. I was not a morning person today. Yesterday after school, we had extra training. Usually, we will have our sunrise exercises and training, train 1 or 2 hours in the evening, and then we would meditate for about 30 minutes before heading to bed. But Sensei Wu decided we had been lazy this week, and as soon as everyone was finished with homework we trained. And trained. And trained some more. We trained until late evening, only stopping for dinner. Then we did some meditation with Master Wu, and he critiqued our stretches. This continued until late in the night, and by then we were all exhausted. Morro-the lucky man(he was excused for staying out late yesterday!)-didn't have to train as much as the rest of us, because he was more of a Sensei now. Oh, how I wished I was the one holding the staff and Master Wu was the one getting knocked upside the head! But that's not right-that's disrespectful. I shouldn't think of my uncle like that. Still, we were drop-dead tired because you get tired just by Sensei Wu's presence in the room. So when I heard the annoying blare of my alarm clock that morning, I had my reasons for almost putting a hole in the wall. See, this is how it went...
I was sleeping, enjoying the dark abyss behind my eyelids, when out of nowhere the sound of my alarm turned on. I had changed my alarm ring to a different sound in hopes it would get me out of bed. It was actually pretty smart, but I regretted it that day. The sound was the most annoying thing in the world-a car alarm. And it was loud. I could hear everyone groaning from their rooms and I knew they were suffering a similar pain as me. So, I had it with my alarm. I was already done with the day and I hated the fact that I had been pulled out of my dark haven. So I did what any normal teenager would do.
I used my powers and burned that alarm clock. Green energy coursed through it's wires and it erupted, sparks flying like my anger. Unfortunately, I almost made a hole in the wall-I could hear Griffin trying to douse his wall with water. But that was the least of my concerns. Because of my frustration, I now wasn't able to go to sleep. Throwing back my covers I walked over to my closet, bunny slippers squeaking against the wooden tiles. Pulling off my green pajamas, I pulled out the first pair of clothes I found, just hoping they would look somewhat nice. I wore a light green button up shirt with some blue jeans, and a brown belt. Pulling on my shoes I sorted through my green bag, checking to make sure I had everything. After putting my mind at ease, I threw open the door, trudging down the halls and into the kitchen. Zane was already there, up and about and as cheerful as ever, already setting to work on making the hundred pancakes we all eat. He did in fact have to actually make 100 pancakes-I counted once when I was younger. Or maybe it wasn't that long? When I was in my Tweens, I had learned I was the destined Green Ninja. My father(Lord Garmadon), had tried to prevent the battle between us. He made this creature with the Mega Weapon(the weapons of Spinjitzu melted together) and turned the team into kids. To be honest, I felt pretty superior when they were kids. I knew what it was like to be young in that time period, whereas they were teenagers. Young teenagers, but still. Don't burst my bubble. Anyways, in order to turn the ninja back to their regular age and the creature back to it's age(the age where it's dead, ya know?), I had to smash this potion-thing, and that made me turn older too. Now, I was still mentally a kid, but I had the body of a teenager. Suddenly, my whole world turned upside down. Sometimes, I felt like I was cursed. Twice. Being the green ninja and having to fight my own father was hard enough, but then I suddenly had to become older? There were times when I felt I couldn't go any farther. I once considered therapy, but decided against it. Here wasn't enough time in my day for that, and I wasn't the best at talking about feelings. Finally, I resorted to staying up and extra 15 minutes every night to write in a journal, while listening to music. Often times, instead of writing, I would draw. Those who had seen my artwork at times always said I was really good, but I saw it as a way to relieve stress. Uncle Wu called it another form of meditation. Mom called it talent.
"How are you this morning, Lloyd?", Zane asked politely as he flipped a pancake, brushing his hands on his signature pink apron. Pixal walked in wearing a purple apron, and holding the box of frozen sausage and a box of tea in the other.
"I'm exhausted. Pixal, could you make me an extra piece of sausage please?" She nodded sweetly, turning on the stovetop. Kai walked in, rubbing the grit out of his eyes. Skylor follows behind him, pulling her feet behind her. Ash too entered, wide awake and fresh as a daisy. He doesn't have to train, because he has no interest in the art of Ninjutsu. The same goes for Camille, Tox, and Shade. Griffin had already done some kind of training before we met him, but that was to enhance his elemental powers of speed. Still, he'll do some private lessons with Sensei Wu or Morro at times. Plus, Camille, Shade, Tox, and Ash all think that just having the powers is enough. Camille is the master of Form, meaning she can change her appearance and voice to anything or anyone. Tox is the master of Poison, Shade is Shadow, and Ash has the power of Smoke.
Everyone slowly filed into the kitchen, the adults getting ready to leave for work, the kids getting ready to leave for school and go to sunrise exercises. Jay walked in, his stuffed elephant in one hand. He stopped in the doorway, sighing and turning around, grabbing something with his free hand. Lugging(that's a lot of -ing's) his object through the door he grunted with effort. Behind the jabber mouth was Nya, being drug across the tiles. She squirmed and protested, claiming she didn't want to go to school. Kai covered my ears when she shouted what they called, 'foul language'. Ash rolled his light brown eyes.
"Gosh I'm tired.", Camille said, pulling her purple hair into a ponytail, green eyes squinting as if she needed caffeine. We all turned to her, giving her dead looks. She shrugged. "What did I do?"
"Yah. What's put you guys in such a bad mood?", asked the voice of a certain green haired girl. Her eyes were lime green, her lipstick was dark green, the markings on her cheeks were green-even her skin seemed to glow green. I had no idea why Shade dated her.
"It is nothing, Tox. They are all just very tired from yesterday's training. Would anyone care for some tea?" Pixal poured herself a cup as she said this. Hands shot into the air. No one wanted to miss out on Pixal's tea. She would make homage tea bags once a month, and they were to die for. Unlike Zane, she couldn't cook. One time, Cole had thought she could and asked her to help him make dinner. She almost burned down the kitchen by boiling the water for the carrots Cole had just sliced up. The thought brought a smile to my face. Cole was by far the worst chef in the world, and adding Pixal to his team-it was a mess. But still, her tea was a true gift.
>~<
There's something about a routine that makes everything run smoothly. A routine for work can make the job easier, a routine for school can make things go slowly or faster. Throw down thing in the middle of that routine, and suddenly everything is thrown off track. At least, that's how it is for me. My day was a routine, life was a routine, school was a routine. Everything was running smoothly. And then of course, they had to change that. By they, I mean the school. They just had to and change the schedule. What happened was that our class times got moved. Instead of First Period being First Period, Gym got moved to that time slot. I mean, it's not a really big deal to most people, but because of my routine based mind, I was almost late to Gym class because I was going by my original schedule. Last year I had the exact same schedule as the one I had starts off with this year, so it had been engrained into my never-ending memory. My morning was thrown off, and I barely made it into the locker room. I ripped off my clothes, pulling my gym uniform over my head, mentally counting the seconds. Jogging out the door, I ran over to the bleachers not even bothering to tie my shoes until I sat down. And then I remembered. Panting, I leaned against the bench as the bell rang, Volleyball girls going to the other gym, Football boys heading outside. Zane walked over to where I sat.
"Hello, Lloyd. We were just about to go looking for you." I waved his worries of with a shake of my hand, trying to steady my breathing. Pixal and Hannah scooted over to us.
"I'm fine. Just swell." Zane cocked his head.
"Was that meant as a joke?" I smiled and shook my head.
"No, bud. I'm just tired. I was on the other side of campus, so I had to run over here." Zane nodded in understanding.
"Hey, Lloyd," greeted Hannah. I noticed that her eyes did a quick scan over me, relief flooding her senses when she was done. She was probably worried that I had gotten hurt by some bullies. She'd been on edge about it all day yesterday at school.
"Hello. Got any candy?", I asked sorrowfully.
"You know I do. But what's in it for me?", she said with a playful smirk, teasingly pulling out a few jolly ranchers. My mouth watered. Oh, how I needed that candy-candy made everything better.
"Umm..." I ransacked my mind. "I'll buy you an ice cream at lunch?" She pursed her lips as Zane and Pixal stared in confusion, probably wondering why we were bargaining over a love of candy. But hey! She had a green pale jolly rancher and I was not letting it out of my sight.
"Hmm...what else?"
"I...Oh! I know! I'll buy you a scrunchie!" Her face lit up.
"Deal! A galaxy one please." Pixal's eyebrows furrowed.
"Zane, what just happened?" He shrugged unknowingly.
"I do not know." At that moment Ata walked over to the bleachers where out small group of off-season sat.
"Alright, everyone! Today's gonna be a little different. Were going to go outside to the Football field, and critique the football boys on their stamina, posture, those kind of things. To those of you who have done football, you can help them even more. And then were going to run with them for 15 minutes." Everyone nodded in understanding. You see, you don't groan when Ata is around. That's just asking for a funeral. You almost die from physical exhaustion if she sees you aren't having fun in gym. But she was pretty fun, so there wasn't really a reason to groan about anything.
Hannah's POV:
It was a good thing I had decided to wear my hoody, because it was a little chilly outside. Hollering could be heard as we neared the field, and my gaze swept longingly over the track around it. I just wanted to run across the track, letting all my worries fly through the wind behind me. I dug my hands into the hoody's pocket, focusing on putting on foot in front of the other so I wouldn't go flying down the track. Ata would not like that.
Ata led us to the edge of the track, and we observed the boys tackle each other and practice their stances. Coach Steel blew his whistle when he saw us(we weren't a very big group), and the boys all stopped what they were doing immediately. My gaze swept over the large group, pointing out the boys in our friend group. Kai, Jay, Griffin, Morro, Neuro, Cole...
The inky-black haired boy stood out against the rest of them in my opinion, his chocolatey eyes catching my attention. Even from a distance I could see the way his muscles heaved when he breathed, his face calm and passionate, as if this was his life's work. In a way, it was since he wanted this to be his job someday. His blue and yellow uniform seemed to fit him perfectly, tracing every one of his muscles, a look on confidence on his face that made my cheeks heat up even more.
Was it physically possible for someone to be that hot?
His eyes met mine and in a flash I looked away. My cheeks felt like they were on fire. Lloyd smirked in my peripheral vision, nudging my arm as I looked down to my shoes.
"Alright! So. I've ready explained what's going to happen today to you boys. The goal of this exercise is to learn to take criticism. Now get on with it!" The boys all ran to their different places, my group going to sit on the slightly damp track. I could feel the morning dew sneaking through my socks and onto my now cold toes. To be honest, I didn't really understand how Football worked. All I knew was that you tackled people and threw a ball. My family had never really watched sports so I was usually at a loss when it came to these kind of things.
I was lost in my thoughts, staring blankly at the field, when one of the boys ran right in front of me. Time seemed to slow as our eyes connected.
Planets collided and fell into place at the same time as dark, nutty colored eyes met mine. Stars shone brighter than the sun when a smile followed the gaze, and ebony locks of hair shone in my vision as the cloudy sky seemed to give way to the heavens when I traced the image of a perfect boy, out eyes gliding over each other. Suddenly I felt very self conscience, but confident all at the same one as butterflies flew in my stomach, adrenaline flowing through my vines. I wanted to run, I wanted to yell, I wanted I sing. But for now, I would have to be content to watch this gorgeous picture in front of me. My lips parted in awe as time returned, the boy whisking past me. My open moth turned into a bashful smile as my attention stayed connected to him, not bothering to watch how the practice worked or how the sport worked for that matter-all I could concentrate on was the boy plowing through the other boys, defending one person with the ball. At least, that's what I think was happening. My mind was too fuzzy to know. Images flashed through my mind-I was leaping into his arms that snakes around my waist, snuggling my cheek against his chest, our eyes glittering in joy as our smiles shone brighter than the sun. A small toddler with bright orange hair crawled over, making grabby hands at me. It was strange-I wasn't seeing through my eyes. It was like I was stuck in a mirror, watching them. Not everything was clear as i(she?)placed her hand on her delight lay swelled tummy, her eyes meeting mine. A strange feeling was cast over me, as if I wasn't in my time. It was like I was in the middle of space, floating through galaxies with stars swirling around me. Was I flying, or on the ground? She gave me a calming look, as if reassuring me everything would be okay. My wart soared as the toddler climbed up her legs, his eyes seeming to meet mine. I wish I could see what color they were, but the details seemed to fly past me. And then it was all sucked back through space, the gusty breeze seeming to make my hair fly above my shoulders then rest again as if it had never happened. And maybe it hadn't-perhaps it was just an illusion. Whatever it was, I wanted to go back. I wanted to know who the toddler was. But it was all in vain, I knew. A smile tugged at my lips as I watched Cole celebrate with the other boys, giving each other high fives as the taunted their friends who ha even on the opposite team. It was all comical really. I knew he could be very stoic, calm, monotone, and even short-tempered at times, especially when it came to his schoolwork. But seeing him jumping around like a small child made my heart leap into my throat. The thought reminded me of the orange haired boy. I pushed the thought away knowing I would have no answer. But Cole was in the dream I saw. I wouldn't say it was a vision, but then again, I couldn't think of what else it would be. All I knew though, is I would so anything to see him laugh, anything to make him happy. It was them that it occurred to me as I smiled-It was only the fourth day of school, the fourth day I had known these wonderful people, and I had already found life-long friends, and I had already fallen in love.
I reached into my pocket, pulling out the small MP3 player, connecting it to some Bluetooth headphones I had borrowed from my Aunt Lee. I had gotten permission from Ata to play my music for myself during gym class, because it helped me concentrate, and I did a lot better when I had music running through my mind. It kept my stress levels down, and kept my anger in check. I could get pretty ugly when I was mad. No one wanted to be around me. Plus, Ata was just that nice, so I wasn't the only one who could listen to music. She was by far my favorite coach out I all the schools I had been to-and I had been to a lot.
Of course, it was at that moment that we were supposed to run, so I stated playing my songs, sticking a snuggle earbud into my ear as I walked over to the line where everyone was gathering. Standing beside Pixal, I started humming quietly to my song. It was the usual Imagine Dragons song, Thunder. As old as it gets the song was still good. When Coach Steel hollered at us to go, we all took off, colors blurring in and out of focus. My legs moved automatically, and my arms pumped at my sides as I passed my fellow students, falling into a pace at 6th place in front after only a few seconds. Griffin was extremely fast and looked like he was at complete ease and home. My running was steady and my mind focused on placing one foot in front of the other as I mentally sang the lyrics. And then it was as if I was in a music video. I turned to look at who was running beside me when I heard a change in footsteps. Chocolate-nutty eyes met mine and a cheeky smile tugged his lips. Once again, we were running into each other. Of course, at that moment the song had to change. I recognized one of my favorite songs-the love song had never really meant anything to me until now as my gaze occasionally slipped to the boy beside me.
"You have my focus
I can't control it
I find your magic
In every moment." I could hear my heart pounding against my rib cage but I pushed myself harder, knowing that if I slowed down to focus on it, I would lose my pace.
"No sleight of hand
Cause' you're my truth
And when in love the ordinary just won't do. You look so beautiful
You walked out of a dream
I never felt this way before
Your eyes are all I need
To make forever feel like just a little while
I swear I'd walk, I'd run, I'd even learn to fly
Just to see you smile" I smiled to myself as the beat played.
"Just to see you smile
Just to see you smile
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way (just to see you smile)
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way, have it your way."
I inwardly giggled.
"Without a question
You keep me guessing
And golden hearts find gentle hands with no exception
And if I hold you
We're bulletproof
And I don't care about nobody's point of view." I turned to the boy who had caught up to me, giving him a challenging smile.
"You look so beautiful
You walked out of a dream
I never felt this way before
Your eyes are all I need
To make forever feel like just a little while
I swear I'd walk, I'd run, I'd even learn to fly
Just to see you smile
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way (just to see you smile)" I gave him a challenging smile, which he returned.
"You can make the world stop
You can have it your way, have it your way." My pace quickened as I passed a person.
"And when you pull me close
I learn which side of gravity needs me most
Attracted to your everything
I know there's more than what meets the eye
I'd walk, I'd run, I'd even learn to fly
Just to see you smile" Another person disappeared behind me again I fell into another easy pace.
"You can make the world stop
You can have it your way
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way (just to see you smile)
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way, have it your way
Just to see you smile
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way" Cole followed suit, having no difficulty as he caught up. My music continued to flow trough my ear.
"You can make the world stop
You can have it your way
Just to see you smile
You can make the world stop
You can have it your way, have it your way" I scanned the track in front f me to see only Griffin and Cole matched my pace. My side squeezed, and my breath got heavy. One day. I would beat them one day.
"Just to see you smile."
We crossed the line having down our lap around the Football field. As tired as I was, I waned to run someone, but for now I was content to conserve my energy. As the other teenagers crossed the line, I dramatically fell onto the dewy(now slightly dry)grass of the Football field. Cole hovered over me with raised eyebrows and a smile. It was weird but I loved his bushy eyebrows. They were just so comical when he made different expressions.
"It's getting dark! Wait! Is that-a light?" Cole rolled his eyes as I reached for the sky. "It is! I'm goin to the light! I'm coming, Mom! Can't wait to see all my dead relatives." Griffin barked out a laugh as Cole pinched he bridge of his nose in amusement, chuckling when I stuck my tongue out of my mouth, dangling over my lips. The tongue tie I had felt tight and sore, and I knew I needed water. "ReMEmbeR MeeeEE!", I sang out in a playful, terrible voice. Cole sighed as w leave down to pull me up, but I flung my foot in his face. "Hehe! Feel the power of the feet!", I giggled hysterically as he got a good whiff of my feet. His make scrunched in disgust, eyebrows scrunching together.
"Oh, gosh! Yore feet stink!" I laughed as he backed away, making exaggerate throw up sounds. The rest of our fried group walks over-excluding the girls in Volleyball-curiously examine the situation. I pulled myself up Ito a sitting position.
"Oh, that's nothing, Cole. You haven't smelled my arm pits." He gagged as he helped me up with one hand. I raised an arm. "Wanna smell?" He pushed me away as I ran after him. "That's the smell of VICTORY!" Kai raised his eyebrows, his eyes telling me he had decided to not question things. Which was good because I was currently chasing a laughing Cole around the field, probably looking like a mad woman. But that was okay if I did.
Anything to see him smile.
