Shipwrecked

The junior ninja were 8 hours into this trip. They were all off doing their own things. Blake kept getting seasick and threw up at least once an hour, Amber kept trying to think of a way to ask Allison to be her yang, Ethan was finding it hard to keep his emotions in check being in such a confined space, Ashley was trying to calm him down, Jax kept exploring the ship and was impressed with all the bells and whistles it came with, Lily loved to sail so her and Allison were looking out at the water, and Trent and Matt were running safety checks to make sure everything was smooth sailing, literally.

Meanwhile Alex and Ryder were at the helm of the boat steering it to the island, which they could now see.

"Land ho!" Alex yelled, still in his pirate voice.

"Yes that's it." Ryder smiled and got on the intercom. "Guys we're approaching the island. Everyone get ready."

They all went to meet Ryder on the deck.

"Oh man finally. Dry land!" Blake exclaimed.

"That is strange. I am picking up a strange signal on our radar." Alex said.

"Guys, we've got company!" Jax screamed.

He pointed to a ship on the right side of the boat. It looked like a fishing boat, but Alex used his advanced vision to take a closer look.

"It's the VKA! They followed us." Alex said.

"The VKA? Why are those guys here?" Allison asked.

"They probably want to find the scroll before we do." Amber said.

"Matt, does this thing have any weapons?" Ryder asked Matt.

"Oh it has weapons." Matt smiled.

Matt pressed a button on the control panel and a huge canon came out of nowhere. Jax immediately called it and started defending the ship. Unfortunately, the VKA had brought a bigger canon with them and struck them right in the hull of the ship.

"Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! We are going down! I repeat we are going down!" Ryder recorded into the call radio. "This is Ryder Garmadon, I have my team of 10 aboard. Our coordinates are... AHH!"

The boat started capsizing and eventually it was entirely underwater. Ryder noticed one of the boxes of life vest flew over the side and into the water.

"Everyone, grab a life jacket!" Ryder shouted.

Everyone was able to grab one life vest each that were floating in the water, but Blake, being scared of the water, was unable to swim. He grabbed the guardrail of the ship and tried to hold on, but a piece of debris hit him in the shoulder and he fell off into the sea. He blacked out out of fear right when he hit the water. Luckily Lily saw this and swam down to get him. She took him by the arms and swam him up to the surface.

All of the junior ninja grabbed their life vests and kicked their way to the shore of the island. Lily was a little behind because she had to carry Blake on top of her life vest. They were all exhausted by the time they got there, but they were waiting on Lily and Blake. She got there and she dragged him to shore. She almost passed out exhausted.

Amber's P.O.V.:

"Is everyone ok?" Ryder asked.

"Lily!" Jax ran to her.

"Help him... he's not... breathing..." Lily caught her breath and pointed to Blake, who was unconscious on top of the life vest. Me and Trent ran up to him.

"Ashley, can you do anything?" I asked.

"I've never done it before but I'll give it a try." She agreed.

Ashley ran over to Blake and did CPR to try to get him to breath again. After a terrifying three minutes, Blake woke up coughing up seawater and holding his shoulder.

"Blake, say something. Anything." I said.

"I... hate... water..." Blake coughed.

The rest of us laughed, happy to know that Blake didn't lose his sense of humor. Ashley continued to check on and treat Blake's injured shoulder as me and Trent stayed by his side. Everyone else looked around at where we were.

"Alex, can you use your scanners to search for the VKA?" Ryder asked him.

"Negative. Something appears to be blocking my scanners." Alex said trying them.

"Why are we worried about the VKA right now? We're the ones who are in trouble." Ethan said panicked.

"Ok I guess this is where we live now." Jax started pacing. "We are stuck on an uncharted island in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no way to get back home!"

"Guys, this is no time to panic." Lily said.

"Lily is right. It's gonna be dark soon, we need firewood." Ryder said.

"We'll go find some." Matt said. "Come on Ethan."

Matt and Ethan went to find some firewood. I saw Allison sit on the beach and look at the sunset.

"Ow!" Blake screamed as Ashley touched his shoulder.

"Is he ok?" I asked.

"His shoulder must have gotten dislocated. I'll have to pop it back in." Ashley said.

"Have you ever done that before?" Blake asked.

"No, but I've seen my mom do it." Ashley answered.

"This is gonna hurt isn't it?" Blake said nervously.

"Yes, but only for a second. My powers will do no good if I don't reset it first."

"Ok just make it quick."

Trent and I held Blake still as he braced himself. Ashley counted to three and pushed Blake's shoulder back into place. He screamed in pain for a second, but then he calmed down a bit.

"How's that?" Ashley asked.

"Better I guess." Blake said catching his breath, but he still couldn't move his arm very much.

"I'll heal what I can but I don't have anything to wrap it with." She frowned.

"Oh wait, my backpack!" I realized I was still wearing it.

As I was looking through it, I had to look and make sure I still had the yin-yang medallion. It was a little wet, but it survived the incident. I smiled, happy it was ok. I spotted Allison sitting at the edge of the beach looking into the sunset. I was so mesmerized I lost track of what I was doing.

"Amber hurry." Trent called to me.

I snapped out of it and continued looking. I found the scarf I was looking for.

"Here, use this." I handed it to Ashley.

"Perfect. Hold still Blake." She said.

Ashley took the scarf and made it into a sling for his shoulder. Blake was feeling better after that, so I walked over to check on Allison. She was still sitting on the beach staring at the sunset.

"Hey." I sat down next to her.

"Oh hey." Allison said. "Is your brother ok?"

"Oh yeah he's doing a lot better now. How are you doing?"

"Not great, my parents are going to be worried sick when we don't come home on Sunday, but if I have to stay on an uncharted island, at least I have a nice view."

"Yeah, it is pretty isn't it?"

"Not the sunset, you." Allison smiled.

"That's so cheesy." I laughed and punched her on the shoulder.

"What? It cheered you up didn't it?" She shrugged and laughed.

"Yeah, you always know just what to say." I blushed.

I really wanted Allison to be my yang, but I don't think a deserted island was a good place to do that. I guess I had to wait until we got back home, if we ever do get back home.

"Amber we need you." Ryder called me.

Allison and I went back over to Ryder and the group. Matt and Ethan had come back and made a fire pit, but Blake looked exhausted.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"Blake is so weak he can't use his powers." Trent frowned.

"I... I'm so sorry." Blake coughed.

"Blake it's ok, don't worry about it." I said.

I held his hand and absorbed his power. I used his power to make a fire just as the sun went down.

"Great, perfect timing." Ryder said.

"I'm sorry I can't be of more help." Blake frowned and coughed.

"It's ok Blake just rest." I said.

"So what do we now?" Matt looked at Ryder.

Ryder's P.O.V.:

Everyone looked at me for guidance, but the truth was I was just as clueless as they were. I didn't know what we were going to do, but like my dad says, 'everyone has a place, and if they do their part, there's nothing you can't do.'

"Well we may not have our ship, but we still have each other. And each of us has something special to help us survive this island." I said.

"It would not be advisable to navigate the island in the dark." Alex said.

"We won't, but for now we just need food, water and a fire." I said.

"Ryder I'm hungry." Ethan frowned.

"Sorry buddy, we lost all our food in the wreck." I frowned.

"So there's no food?" Ethan frowned.

I could see his eyes starting to blink between brown and purple. I knew we had to do something before he got too upset.

"Ethan look around, the island will provide us with all the food we need." Allison said.

"Yeah, I bet there's tons of fruit trees and fish we can eat." Ashley said.

"Oh, ok." Ethan took a deep breath.

"Come on Ethan, let's see what we can find." I said.

"Ok." Ethan took my hand.

Ethan and I walked over to the grove of trees along the back of the beach. With Ethan having to grow up so quickly, sometimes I forget that he is so much younger than the rest of us. At this age, his powers are unstable and harder for him to control. If he got too angry, he could destroy everything in his path and not even realize he was doing it. It makes me think that maybe he would have been safer if I kept him at home with our parents, but I guess it was too late to change my mind now.

My father always said, "the mistakes you make do not define you, it's how you fix them." Right now I had to be the best leader I could be. My team was scared, hungry and tired and I felt as the leader that it was all my fault. I had to make this right.

Ethan and I walked along the grove, using my power as a light to guide us. It was kind of scary out here in the dark but my only priority was keeping Ethan close to me.

"Hey Ryder?" He looked at me.

"Yeah bro?" I said.

"Do... do you think mom and dad are going to be mad at us?" He frowned.

"Mad? No, I'm sure they'll be thankful that we're ok." I said.

"Are you sure? They think we're coming back tomorrow and now we won't be and we have no way to tell them."

"And when we get back, we'll explain everything, but for right now we just need to survive until someone can rescue us. Ok?"

"Ok." Ethan sighed. Than he spotted something in the distance and started running towards it. "Ryder look!"

"Ethan wait up!" I ran to keep up with him.

I finally caught up with him at a nearby banana tree. I had to stop and catch my breath.

"Ethan, you have to stay close to me." I yelled. "You can't just run off in the dark like that."

"But look. I found food." He pointed up to the tree.

"Oh good job." I said looking at the ripe bananas growing on the tree. "Here, let me give you a boost."

I lit a stick on fire with my powers to give us some light and then I hoisted Ethan onto my shoulders. After a bit of effort, we were able to get the whole bunch of bananas down from the tree. It may not have been a lot, but it would be enough.

Ethan and I came back to camp with the fruit and handed it out It wasn't exactly a gourmet meal, but it was enough to sooth our appetites for the night.

"Ok now that we're all good and fed, it's time to get some rest." I said.

"Ryder the VKA is most likely still on the island somewhere." Alex said. "It might be better if one of us stands guard in case they find us."

"Alright then, we'll take shifts. If we see anything suspicious, the guard wakes everyone to help." I decided. "As the leader, I'll take the first one."

Everyone agreed and they all fell asleep by the fire. I was keeping watch and poking the fire to keep it going.

"Ryder?" Ethan whispered.

"Ethan you should be asleep." I whispered.

"I know but I miss Mom and Dad." He frowned. "Will we ever see them again?"

"Of course we will, it'll just take us a little longer to get home that's all."

"But what else is out there? What if there's creatures that are trying to eat us?"

"Don't worry buddy, I'll always be here to protect you."

"Promise?"

"Promise." I hugged him. "Now go back to sleep."

"Ok." He yawned. "Good night big bro."

"Good night little bro." I smiled.

He walked back to his spot by the fire and went back to sleep. I watched him and then saw something moving in the woods behind him. I grabbed my sword and went to check it out, but it turned out to be a hen.

I realized the hen might be able to provide us with eggs to eat, so I tried to capture it. I ran after the chicken and chased her through the woods. I tripped and the hen got away, but I realized I had left my post.

I got up, but the fall twisted my ankle. I could walk, but it hurt to run. I could still see the smoke from our fire, so I followed that, although it was hard to see the smoke in the dark.

On my way back I heard something in the distance. It sounded like someone stepping on a stick.

"Show yourself!" I yelled sparking up my powers.

I waited for the creature to appear, but it turned out it was the chicken again just trying to taunt me. I tried.

"Oh, you again?" I questioned. "Well I'm not really in a position to catch you right now, but I'll be back."

The chicken clucked and walked away. I continued to limp towards the smoke until I finally made it back to the beach.
Luckily everything was how I left it and I woke up Alex to take the next shift.

"Ryder?" Alex looked down and noticed my ankle.

"I'm fine, I just... tripped when I went into the forest to pee." I lied.

"Oh, here."

Alex took his ice powers and used them on my ankle. It actually felt pretty good.

"Thanks." I said.

"Rest my friend, I'll watch for them." I said.

"Thanks Alex." I yawned.

I laid down next to Ethan and Ashley and went back to sleep. Hopefully we could find a way to get off this pile of sand sooner than later.
