Reconnections: Part 1
Hey guys, I know it's been a while and I'm so sorry. I had to take a bit of a mental health break from Wattpad and then when I was ready to write again, a bunch of life stuff happened that I had to deal with. So once again I'm so sorry for the delay, but now I'm back and ready to continue this book. Thank you all for all the support you've offered me and telling me to take my time, it really meant a lot to me. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the very late chapter and stay awesome!

Ashley's P.O.V.
I was sitting on the beach watching all my friends. Matt's knee was swollen and wasn't able to walk, Ryder was still limping because of his ankle, and even though Allison got treatment and wasn't feeling bleeding anymore, she was still in pain sometimes. I felt so bad that all I could do was sit and watch and couldn't help them. And I couldn't even help my best friend... or maybe I thought of him as more than that, who knows? Maybe that I love you thing was just a big lie too so I would save his life. I couldn't imagine Trent doing something like that, but then again, everything on this stupid island has been crazy. I just want to go home and get off this pile of sand.
"Hey Ashley." My younger brother said walking up to me.
"I'm not in the mood Ethan." I frowned.
"I was just seeing if you were ok." He frowned.
"Well I'm not." I sighed.
"You miss Trent, don't you?" He sat down next to me. "Yeah I know, I miss Mom and Dad back home."
"That's different, at least Mom and Dad are still the same people. Trent just all of a sudden flipped the switch and left."
"Trent is the same person, he's just with a different team."
"He's on the wrong team!" I yelled. "All the work we've put in, all the time we spent together, for what?! Nothing, that's what!"
I stood up and threw a pebble into the sea. It went so far that I didn't even see where it landed. I had never sent something that far in my life.
"What was that?" I looked at my hands.
"That's your Oni Power." Ethan said. "It comes out when we get too angry."
"How do I stop it? I don't want to hurt anyone." I frowned.
"Let me tell you something Grandpa said to me once. "It's not something you fight, it's something you control." If you try to fight it, it'll just make everything worse."
"But if I leave it alone, it'll take over." I looked my reflection in the ocean.
"The Oni form is complicated. You have to find a way to make peace with the monster inside you. Once you do that, you can learn to channel your anger and find a way to use it for good. That's what we had to do."
"Yeah, but at least you two had Dad and grandpa there to help." I sighed.
"Yeah, but don't worry, Ryder and I are here." Ethan said.
"Thanks Ethan." I smiled and gave him a hug.
I noticed he yawned and his eyes looked heavy. He hadn't been sleeping much since we've been stuck out here. Ryder said he's been having the nightmare since we got here, but they never discussed the details with me.
"Why don't you go back to the shelter and get some rest, I'll be there in a minute." I said.
"Ok." He yawned again.
Ethan started his walk back to the shelter. I stayed by the beach and stared at the ocean for a while. The movement of the waves used to be so calming, but now it felt like nothing was going to calm me down after what Trent did. It wasn't fair.
After a few minutes, I felt about as good as I was gonna get, so I started walking back to the shelter. On the way there, I heard a strange noise coming from the bushes. I decided to go and check it out.
"Hello?" I shouted. "Trent? Is that you?"
I saw something peek out of the bushes and then I heard them running through the woods. I started chasing after them, but after running for a bit, I lost track of him. I looked around and up in the tree was a person. Before I could react, they fell on top of me and I passed out...
Ryder's P.O.V.:
Ashley was still so upset about Trent. Ethan and I were doing our best to keep her calm, but it wasn't working. On top of the whole Trent situation, her powers still weren't back yet so she was probably feeling useless not being able to help anyone. I wished there was something I could do, but I still had a job to do getting everyone off this island, and they needed a leader.
I was working with Alex making some improvements to the shelter to prepare for the big storm coming tonight. Luckily the tarp Kai and Skylor got for us would stop our shelter from flooding, so we were putting it on the roof of our yurt.
"Ryder?" Ethan called up to me from the ground.
"What's up Ethan?" I looked down.
"Have you seen Ashley anywhere?" He asked.
"No, I thought she was hanging out by the beach?" I said.
"She was." He said. "I just talked to her and she said she was right behind me, but that was a while ago."
"Did you go back and see if she was still there?"
"Yeah but she wasn't. There's no sign of her."
"Alex, are your scanners back up yet?" I asked.
Alex took a second to try his scanners, but nothing happened.
"Negative. I appear to still be experiencing malfunctions for some of my non vital systems." Alex said.
"Ok then, we'll have to search for her the old fashioned way." I said.
I climbed down from the shelter and gathered my team, who were doing other things nearby. I updated them on the situation and we made a plan.
"So what do we do?" Blake asked.
"We split up and search the island." I explained. "Amber and Allison, you search the east side of the island, Ethan and I will take the west. Blake, Matt and Alex, you guys stay here and keep preparing for the storm. Keep an eye on Olivia too."
"Aww man! I never get to do anything fun." Olivia pouted.
"Don't worry sis, you'll get your moment one day." Lily smiled.
"Lily and Jax, you guys go to the VKA camp and see if Ashley ran there. Try to get Trent's help if you can." I said.
"You got it." Jax said.
"Luckily my parents included short range radios with the box of supplies so we can communicate with each other all over the island." Amber said handing one to each pair.
"Nice, that way we can keep in touch." Ryder said. "Alright guys, let's go find my sister."
We all split up and headed into the woods to look for Ashley. I hope she didn't get herself into too much trouble.
Trent's P.O.V.:
I was trying to focus and perfect my airjitsu technique, but it was difficult because I had so much on my mind. What if Ashley never forgave me? What will my siblings and the rest of my friends think?
A little while later, Zera and Lena came back from the stream. They didn't have any clean water, but they looked like they had quite a story to tell.
Zera explained that she had found her long lost twin brother and that he was the other elemental master of time. We all couldn't believe it.
"Do you think he's the one destroying the island?" I asked.
"Wyatt's lived here alone for seven years, why would he want to destroy the island?" Zera asked.
"Is it possible he's not doing it on purpose?" Seth asked.
"Maybe, but he's a recluse. He won't talk to me and doesn't want a relationship with me." Zera sighed.
"Maybe we can reason with him?" I suggested.
"Yeah I don't think that's going to work." She frowned. "I think I'm gonna go for a walk alone."
Zera left the camp and went into the woods to walk. As I was looking into the bushes, I saw Jax's face calling me over there.
"Uhh I'll be right back guys, I gotta pee." I said.
I ran to the bushes and saw Jax and Lily there. I could tell by the looks on their faces, something was wrong.
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked. "You know this is a bad idea."
"We didn't have a choice, we needed to tell you something." Lily said.
"This better be important." I said.
"Ashley's missing." Jax frowned.
"What?" I frowned.
"One second Ethan was talking to her and when he came back she was gone." Lily frowned. "We think she was upset about what happened between you two and ran off."
"She had nothing to do with my decision." I said.
"That's not how she sees it." Jax sighed.
"Are you going to help us get her back or not?" Lily asked.
I was so conflicted. On one hand I was worried about Ashley, but on the other hand I couldn't help them or I would be betraying my new team.
"I... I'm sorry, but I can't." I frowned.
"Trent, I know you're not on this team anymore, but you do love Ashley right?" Lily asked.
"Yes, of course I do."
"Then help us find her and tell her that!" Jax yelled.
"Jax, you heard what Ryder said. We can't force him to come with us if he doesn't want to." Lily frowned.
"Fine, but you know her the best. Can you think of anywhere that she might have run off to? Anyone that might have taken her?" Jax asked.
"Well, Zera was just telling us about someone else that lives on the island." I got to thinking.
"What? We're not alone here?" Lily asked.
"Apparently not. She told us he was a master of time, her twin brother. They got separated at birth and he was kidnapped by pirates and washed up here years ago."
"So he's been living on this island alone for years and we haven't noticed?" Jax said.
"Yeah, he lives in a little hut near the north of the stream. You might wanna check there."
"We'll check it out, but are you sure you don't want to help us?" Lily said.
"I'm sorry, I can't." I frowned. "If I do that, I have to leave this team and I've already learned so much here."
"Seriously? With these guys?" Jax asked. Lily elbowed him on the shoulder.
"Yeah, I've actually already mastered Airjitsu and they treat me like I'm a real part of the team here."
"We have never treated you like you weren't part of the team." Lily said.
"Wait, you learned Airjitsu already?" Jax said.
"Look guys, I hope you find her, but I'm sorry, I can't go with you." I frowned. "But if you do find Ashley, can you give her a message for me?"
"I guess." Lily rolled her eyes.
"Tell her I meant what I said when I told her I loved her, and I only left to keep her safe." I said. "Will you tell her that please?"
"Fine." Jax said. "Have fun with your new family."
Jax and Lily walked away. I felt guilty about not helping them, but I also wanted to stay on this team. I did what I had to do. Hopefully one day they'll see where I was coming from.
Ashley's P.O.V.:
I woke up and I was locked in some kind of wooden cage. I stood up and looked around. Other than a slight headache I was ok, but I had no idea where I was.
"Oh, you're awake." I heard someone say.
"Come out! Show yourself!" I yelled.
A young man came out of the shadows and revealed himself. He had green eyes and slick black hair.
"Who are you? What do you want?"
"I'm Wyatt, the new master of time, and you and your elemental buddies have something that belongs to me."
"What do you mean?"
"You know, the chest."
"Wait, you mean the scroll of Airjitsu? That was you?"
"Of course it was, and now I realize that you all took it from the cave I hid it in. And if you want to get out of here, your friends will have to trade it for you." He said.
"First of all, that's a lot of trouble to go through for a scroll you couldn't open in the first place. Secondly, we don't have the scroll anymore."
"What? Then who does?!" He demanded.
"I..."
I was about to rat the VKA out for how they treated us, but then I thought about what he would do to Trent. I couldn't put his life in danger like that. It didn't matter how upset I was, he doesn't deserve that.
"I don't know." I finally answered. "We just woke up in the middle of the night and it was gone."
"You guys lost my scroll?!" He screamed.
"It's not your scroll, it was stolen from the museum. Plus if you really wanted to keep it, maybe you shouldn't have left it unattended in a cave. That's your own fault."
"I know, I'm the one who stole it."
"Wait, if you've been to the museum then you must know a way back to Ninjago!" I realized.
"Yeah, I go there on occasion."
"You mean there's a way to travel on and off the island?"
"Yeah, I do it all the time."
"You could help me and my friends get home."
"Why would I help you? You took the scroll."
"Please, we've been stuck here almost a month and we just want to go home." I frowned.
"Sorry sweetheart, I don't make the rules." He shrugged.
"The name's Ashley, and if you ever call me sweetheart again, you won't be happy with the result."
"Quit stalling!" He yelled. "You know where the scroll is, tell me and I'll let you go when I have it."
"No thanks. I'm getting comfortable here." I laid back in the cage. "It'd be more relaxing if you would stop talking though."
"This kid is impossible!" I heard him say under his breath.
He finally left the hut and I stood up and tried to pick the lock on the cage door. After a few minutes, I realized that it wasn't going to budge. I had a different idea.
"Ok Ashley, you can do this." I said to myself. "Just do exactly what Ethan said. Reach deep inside and channel your anger."
I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. I tried to punch the door, but nothing happened.
"Oh come on! How come Ethan makes this look so easy?!" I said frustrated.
At that moment, I wished I was any of the other ninja. Allison, Ryder and Ethan have the strength to get out of this thing easily, Alex, Matt or Trent would be smart enough to figure out how to pick this lock, Blake or Jax could destroy the cage easily with their powers, and Amber or Lily would've come up with a creative solution to escape by now, but I didn't have any skills like that. All I'm good at doing is healing people and that's not going to help me here.
"Come on Oni strength. I really need you to work right now." I tried again.
I tensed all my muscles and punched the door again, but it didn't budge. Maybe I needed to try something different? Ethan said that anger is the key to unlocking your Oni form, and I was closest when I was angry about Trent.
Trent, oh how I missed him, but he made his choice. Was this all just a big lie? Why would he betray me and the entire team like that? I've known him since birth and he just up and left us high and dry.
I was so angry I punched the door again, this time my hands turned purple and the door flew off its hinges and landed on the other side of the hut.
"What? Did I do it?" I looked at my hands. "Yes! I did it! Haha! I am awesome!" I said to myself.
I jumped down out of the cage and started to make my way outside, but all of a sudden I was stopped in a time bubble.
"And just where do you think you're going?" Zera said, using her powers to stop me.
"Nice job sis." Wyatt gave her a high five.
Once the time bubble ran out, Wyatt picked me up used his power to quickly slam me up against the wall of the hut. I hit my head and my vision was blurred. I soon passed out...
Jax's P.O.V.:
Lily and I found the hut out in the woods right where Trent said it would be. We heard someone coming and hid behind the bushes. We watched as Ashley ran out of the hut and get immediately stopped by Zera. The other guy came out and used his reverse time power to push Ashley into the hut where she was knocked unconscious. I saw them high five each other and drag Ashley back into the hut.
"Trent was right. It was him." I said to my sister. "We gotta save her."
"Wait, I remember Mom and Uncle Kai telling us how strong the time twins were when they worked together." Lily said. "If these two are anything like them, we'll need to get the team together before we can rush in."
"Oh yeah, good thinking." I said getting out my radio. "Guys, we found Ashley, but she's trapped. We need backup."
"Ok, Where are you?" Ryder's voice came in through the radio.
"We saw her get dragged into a hut north of the stream." Lily said. "We think it was both the masters of time."
"I'm sorry, since when are there two?" Allison asked.
"That may explain why the island is deteriorating." Alex said.
"It's a long story." I said.
"Hang tight, we're on our way." Ryder said.
"We'll be there too." Amber said.
"Affirmative." Alex said.
"Ok, hurry." I said.
Lily and I laid low in the bushes and waited for Ryder and the others to get there. We tried to be as quiet as we could, but being quiet is not a strong suit of mine. Me and my father are alike in that way.
In a few minutes, all of our friends showed up. Even Matt, Blake and Olivia were here. We explained the situation and everything that Trent had told us.
"Ok guys, let's come up with a..."
Before Ryder finished his sentence, a huge crash of thunder was heard. We looked up and saw a huge wad of clouds in the sky.
"That does not sound good." Alex frowned.
"Maybe we should come back after the storm passes?" Allison said.
"But we have to get Ashley back." Ethan frowned. "She could be in danger."
"I know Ethan, and we will get her back, but we're no good to her if we get struck by lightning." Ryder said.
"I can hold it off." I said.
"Are you sure Jax? That's a big storm." My sister said.
"Oh yeah, I'm sure. Lightning strikes don't affect me much." I said.
"Here, I can help you out cuz." Amber said touching my shoulder and absorbing my power.
"Ok, so that solves one problem, but how do we get to Ashley out of there?" Matt said.
"The time twins were ruthless, and by my guess, those two won't be much easier to fight." Blake said.
"Mom told us the stories of how tough they were." Lily said. "That's why I didn't want to go in alone."
"That was smart, but I'm worried about Ashley." Ryder frowned. "She can hold her own in a fight, but her powers aren't really that helpful in battle."
"Can't I just teleport in there and get her out?" Olivia said.
"No Olivia, you don't know how to control your powers yet." Matt said. "You could end up anywhere in the world."
"Matt, you're not looking great with that knee either." I noticed him not putting any weight on his leg. "Maybe you should sit this one out too."
"What? No. I'm fine, see?" Matt tried to put his leg on the ground but as soon as he did he writhed in pain. "Ow!"
"Sorry buddy, not this time." Ryder said.
"If only we knew Airjitsu like Trent does." Lily said. "Then we could just drop in through the ceiling and get her out."
"Wait, my little brother learned Airjitsu first?!" Blake shouted. "Gah! I'm so jealous."
"We'll focus on that later, now we have to save Ashley." Ryder said. "Ok, here's the plan. Matt, take Olivia back to camp. Jax and Amber, keep the lightning off our backs. Alex, Lily and Blake, you guys keep the new time twins busy. Ethan and I will sneak in and rescue Ashley."
"Why do I never get to fight?" Olivia pouted.
"Sorry Olivia, we have to keep you safe until we find a way to get you home." Lily said.
"Ok." Olivia frowned.
"Blake, are you good to fight?" Ryder asked him.
"Yeah, I still have one good hand." Blake said, charging up his fire powers.
"Ok then, let's do this." Ryder said putting his hand out.
We all put our hands in the middle and quietly screamed "Go junior ninja go!" Then we all split up to do our assignments. Hopefully we can get to Ashley before it was too late.
To be continued...
