The Need to Change
Cole's P.O.V.:
Allison and I had the week to ourselves. Seliel had been spending most of the time in Nom with her dad and stepmom. Her father's health had been declining and it was only going to get worse, so she was trying to spend every moment she could with him while he was still here. I missed her being around, but I completely understood. As for Kirby, he was on vacation visiting his brother in Stixx. It was his birthday so he wanted to be there with him.
That left just me and Allison here by ourselves. It was a lot like it was years ago when Seliel was living in Nom. Now that her father isn't doing well, there was a possibility that she would have to stay and help Donna run the town in his absence. And if things get really bad, we all would have to move there so we could be with Seliel. I hadn't discussed that with Allison yet but I knew she wouldn't be happy about it.
We lived in Nom a long time ago, but I decided to move Allison here so she could have a better life and she could be around people her own age. Nom is no place to raise a child, but now that Allison's older it shouldn't be a problem, I was just worried about how she was going to take the news.
She was sitting on the couch looking at her phone. I set down next to her.
"Hey cupcake, what are doing?" I asked.
"Texting with Amber. Her mom just got a new job." She said.
"That's great." I nodded. "Well sweetie, we need to talk about something."
"What Dad?" She put her phone down and looked at me.
"You know how your grandfather isn't doing that well?" I asked and she nodded. "Well if he gets any worse, he won't be able to run the town anymore, and your mom wants to keep the town's mayorship in the family so..."
"Wait, are you telling me that we all have to move to Nom?" She yelled.
"Your grandma Donna can't run the village by herself and your mom doesn't want the family to be separated again." I explained.
"But my whole life is here. My friends, my girlfriend, the junior ninja team, everything."
"I know, but moving there makes the most sense for our family right now." I frowned.
"Can't mom just move there by herself? At least until I finish school?" She begged.
"Allison, your mother is about to loose her dad, do you really want her to say goodbye to us too?" I asked.
"I guess not." She frowned. "But I don't want to say goodbye to my friends or my girlfriend. It'll be too hard."
"I know cupcake, I don't want to move either but we have to do what's best for our family. Ok?"
"Ok." She frowned.
"Besides, nothing is decided yet so just wait and see what happens ok?"
"Alright."
Allison went into bedroom and slammed her door shut. I honestly expected nothing less. I set down on the couch and got a text from Seliel.
———{{{Cole's Phone}}}———
Seliel: Hey sweetie.
Cole: Hi. How's your dad?
S: It looked like we were going
to loose him this morning, but
he's hanging in there.
C: Sorry to hear that.
S: it's fine, I just want to spend
all the time I can with him while
he's still here, you know?
C: I understand.
S: Did you talk with Allison yet?
C: I just talked to her.
She didn't take it well.
S: I didn't think she would. The last
thing I want is for you two to move
down here and be miserable.
C: Don't worry about me and
Allison, focus on what you
need to do. Ok?
S: Ok. Thank you.
C: We're keeping him in our thoughts.
S: I know. Thank you.
C: I love you.
S: Love you too.

I know Allison's whole life is here, mine is too, but with Seliel going through this I don't see how we had any other choice. I just hope Allison would forgive me eventually.
Jay's P.O.V.:
I was sitting on the couch thinking about how the twins were going to be turning 16 next week. Nya and I were not ready for it.
The kids were growing up so fast. It would only be a matter of time before we had to send them off to college and they'll have lives of there own. Matt was a little younger but in a few more years the kids were going to be done with school he would go live with his uncle in his new house in Stixx. That would leave us all alone.
"Dad!" Jax ran into the room with Lily right behind him. "Lily doesn't want to go Pizza House for our birthday!"
"Why would you want to go somewhere we go all the time?" Lily complained. "We can go anywhere we want for our birthday, so why not Green Lobster?"
"Eww, seafood is disgusting."
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
"Guys calm down!" I yelled over them. "You guys are way too old to be fighting over little things like that."
"Well she got to pick last year, it's my turn!" Jax said.
"This is our sweet sixteen, it's more special. Plus I'm older!" Lily snarked.
"By eight minutes!"
"Look kids, you need to decide on one restaurant that you both agree on or we'll stay home on your birthday and have cereal for dinner." I warned.
"Fine, we'll think of something else." Jax frowned. "Come on Lily let's go see if there's something we both want."
"Alright." She pouted and followed Jax upstairs.
"Wow, look at you handling arguments on your own." Nya emerged from the doorway.
"Oh, I didn't know you were watching." I said awkwardly.
"I remember the days that every time the slightest problem came up the first words out of your mouth were "go ask mom.""
"Yep, We've come a long way since then." I laughed.
"We certainly have." She smiled. "To think the kids are going to be 16 next week."
"Yeah, in a few years they'll be off at college." I said.
"Yeah." Nya sighed.
"It's gonna get pretty lonely with just the two of us here."
"Well maybe it doesn't have to be just the two of us." She winked at me.
"Nya, I want another kid as much as you do, but we both know our chances of that are one in a million."
"No no, not that. I've been thinking, there are so many babies that need homes and I think we could share our home with one of them."
"Really? You want to adopt?"
"Yeah, I mean we talked about adopting before I got pregnant and now that Jax and Lily are older it seems like the right time." She smiled. "So what do you think?"
"I think it's a great idea." I smiled. "I want to find a baby that needs a home and I want to raise it with you."
"Yay!" Nya smiled and gave me a hug.
Nya is the only person I ever told about me being adopted. When I found out that I was, I had so many questions about my real parents and how I got to the junkyard. Even though I never got the answers and I might never get them, I wouldn't change a thing. My parents gave me a home and raised them as their own because they were just nice people. I would love to be able to give a child the life I had.
Zane's P.O.V.:
**********Flashback*********
"No! No! Stay away from me!" I heard Alex screaming in his room.
I ran into his room and shook him awake.
"Ahh!" Alex woke up catching his breath.
"Alex, it's ok, it's just me." I said.
"Oh, sorry dad." He took a deep breath. "I just had those flashbacks again."
"Alex, you've been having the same flashback every night for a week now." I set on the bed next to him. "Are you sure this whole living situation is ok with you?"
"I want to be ok with it, but after everything he did to me and Cass and now he's living down the hall, I can't help but feel like it's gonna happen again." He frowned. "Every time I go into sleep mode, I see that day he shot me and I feel everything I felt in that moment."
"He only did those things because he was being controlled by the overlord." I reminded him.
"I know, but I just can't help how I feel." He sighed. "Maybe I would feel better if I went to stay with Cass for a while."
"What?"
"Well if I stay here then this is just going to keep happening."
"Alex, if you're having a problem than we can work something out, but I can't just throw Axel out on the street."
"I know that, but I don't want to have nightmares every night." Alex said. "At least if I'm at Cass's I might be able to go into sleep mode."
"If he's bothering you that much, then maybe we can arrange for him to stay with your grandpa Borg for a while." I suggested.
"Do you think he would?" Alex asked.
"I don't know, but we just got you back. We don't want to lose you again." I told him.
"Ok." He nodded. "Thanks Dad."
"Of course." I hugged him.
**********End of Flashback**********
It had been four years since we sent Axel to live with Cyrus Borg. We had tried multiple times to get the boys to get along, but Alex was still traumatized by what happened all those years ago. We tried taking him to therapy but it didn't work. Nothing we did was going to change his mind about him and we knew it was out of our hands.
Alex was on a date with Cass so Pixal and I were taking that time to visit with Borg and Axel. We didn't get to see them much because of the whole Alex and Axel situation, but there wasn't anything we could do.
"So nice of you to come and visit us." Borg smiled.
"Of course father." Pixal said. "Thank you again for taking Axel."
"It was my pleasure." He replied. "Axel has been learning a lot from his internship, and in return I've learned a lot from him. Where is my grandson?"
"Oh, he's on a date." I frowned.
"It feels like I haven't seen him in years but I guess that's to be understood after what happened." Borg sighed.
"He wants to see you father, he just..."
"Doesn't want to see me." Axel frowned, finishing Pixal's sentence.
"There's more too it than that, you just don't remember." I explained.
"No, I don't remember, but whatever I did it was only because the Overlord told me to." Axel said.
"We know that. Alex just doesn't trust you, but we do." Pixal said.
"I'm sorry for whatever I did." Axel frowned.
"We know, but what you did to Alex was too traumatizing for him to come back from." I frowned. "I want you guys to work this out more than anything, but Alex won't budge on this one."
"It's ok. If he won't trust me after four years then he's not going to trust me now." Axel frowned and left the room.
Borg, Pixal and I looked at each other. We knew we had to do something to fix this, but we had already tried everything. What was there left to try?
