Truth be Told
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
Zach led me back to the cage and I sat back down next to Kira. The last thing I wanted was to worry her, so I tried to hide my black eye behind my hair.
"Are you ok?" Kira asked me.
"Never mind me, how are you feeling?"
"A lot better now." She said. Then she noticed my hair was over my eye and she got suspicious. "Lloyd, why are you wearing your hair different?"
"Nothing, I was just..."
Before I could come up with an excuse, she gently moved my hair back and revealed my black eye. She looked concerned, but not surprised.
"Is it that bad?" I sighed.
"It does look pretty swollen." Kira nodded.
"I'll go get you guys another ice pack." Zach offered.
"Thank you Zach." Kira said and Zach left. "What did he do?"
"I told him he was a terrible father and he punched me in the eye." I admitted.
"Why would tell him that?"
"Because he is." I said. "At first I didn't believe Maizy when she said her father was the reason behind her actions towards Ryder, but now I do. Akamu makes her do whatever he wants her to and as far as I know she doesn't even know about her mother."
"My... what?" Someone said outside the cage. It was Maizy.
"Maizy, has your father told you why he's making you do all these things?" I asked.
"I'm not allowed to ask." She crossed her arms. "What's it to you anyway?"
"Because right now our kids in danger, and if you help us I'll tell you the truth about all of this." I promised.
"And you expect me to trust you?" She questioned.
"Maizy there's something you don't know." Kira frowned.
"If you think I'm going to help you put my father in jail then you've got another thing coming."
She started to walk away, but Kira noticed something. She pointed Maizy's foot out to me and I realized that she was limping.
"Maizy wait, why are you limping?" Kira asked.
"None of your business." She rolled her eyes.
She tried to keep walking but she kept limping and was keeping her left leg off the ground as much as she could. Kira looked over at me and I read her mind. I was still a little on the fence about Maizy's intentions, but I still felt bad for her. I sighed and gave Kira a nod, letting her know that we should help her.
Before we got the chance to say anything else, Zach came back and he bumped into Maizy. She fell on the floor and Zach helped her up. She wasn't even standing on her leg now.
"Oh I'm so sorry Maizy, are you hurt?" Zach asked her.
"I'm fine Uncle Zach." She said. She still couldn't stand on her leg.
"He hurt you again didn't he?" Zach frowned.
Maizy sighed and nodded. "He blamed me for letting Ryder get away and not being able to find his sister."
"That's not right." Kira frowned. "He shouldn't be treating you like that."
"That's just the way he is." Maizy shrugged. "If I mess up I pay the price. That's how it's always been."
"He shouldn't be asking you to do this in the first place." I said.
"Why are you defending me? I thought you hated me." She questioned.
"I'm not happy about what you did to my family, but I'm not a monster." I told her. "Plus I know where you're coming from. Have you met my father?"
"Not to mention she did save our son's life." Kira reminded everyone.
"Ow!" Maizy tried to stand on her foot, but she couldn't. She was leaning on Zach's shoulders now.
"Maizy is that still hurting you?" Kira asked.
"No, I'm fine. I don't need you!" She yelled.
"Maize, they're the good guys. They're trying to help." Zach told her.
After a lot of convincing, Maizy finally agreed to let us help. Zach had let her into our cell for a few minutes so Kira could look at her ankle. There was a deep bruise on it and Kira started wrapping it in bandages.
"Will she be alright?" Zach asked us.
"It's just a little bone bruise." Kira said as she continued wrapping Maizy's ankle. "She should be fine in a couple days."
"I'm not very good at saying the whole 'thank you' thing." Maizy crossed her arms.
"Forgive me for bringing this up, but can't you make forcefields?" I asked.
"Yes, but my father makes me wear a vingestone bracelet whenever I'm at home." She frowned. "He can be pretty strict about me using my powers around him."
"There that should do it." Kira finished wrapping up her ankle. "How does that feel now?"
"Fine." She said. "Can I walk on it?"
"Yes but you need to take it easy at first." Kira warned her. "Be sure you ice it twice a day."
"Alright." Maizy sighed.
Kira offered to help her up, but Maizy refused and got up by herself. She asked Zach to open the door and he let her out.
"I have to go." Maizy said as she started to limp away, but than she turned back to us. "And just so you know, saving Ryder was never a part of the plan."
Maizy walked away and Kira and I looked at each other. We didn't know what to think.
"Sorry about her." Zach apologized. "I love my niece but she's always been a little... reserved."
"Judging by the way Akamu treats her, I don't blame her." Kira frowned. "I know he has a troubled past, but that's no reason to treat his own daughter like that."
"I've been telling him that for years, but he won't change." Zach sighed.
"What do you mean?" Kira asked.
"Ever since the day of the accident he's treated Maizy so horribly." Zach continued. "She wasn't even a year old yet when it happened and when it did, Akamu spent most of his days sitting next to Zoey waiting for her to wake up, but at the time we all knew she wouldn't, at least not anytime soon."
"Then who took care of Maizy?" Kira asked.
"For a long time, I had to." Zach frowned. "After three years of basically caring for her by myself I tried to win custody of her mainly because Akamu wasn't in the best mental state to take care of her, but let's just say that didn't end well."
"You lost?" I asked.
"I never got the chance, as soon as I brought it up he told me he wasn't going to let me have her. That Maizy was his daughter and that he knew what was best for her. After that, he started pitching in more, but not in the way he should have."
"That explains why you're so close with her." Kira said.
"She's my sister's kid, she's the only family I have left." He sighed.
"Zach! I need you!" We heard Akamu screaming.
"Be right there sir!" He yelled in his direction. Then he turned back to us. "Thank you."
He ran to see what he wanted. Kira looked over at me and noticed my eye was still swollen. She saw one of the ice packs that Zach had given us on the ground and gave it to me.
"Thank you." I said as I held it to my eye. "How's your arm?"
"It feels alright now." She said. "I'm just worried about the kids."
"Me too, I hope that Cole got them somewhere safe."
Cole's P.O.V.:
It took a while, but we finally arrived at the apartment building. Austin dropped us off and Wu, Misako and Garmadon, (now back to his human self) were standing right out front. Ryder ran into Misako's arms and he seemed upset.
"I'm sorry Grandma I... I tried to stop them but..."
"It's ok Ryder, this was not your fault." Misako said trying to cheer him up.
"We will get your parents back." Wu said as he hugged Ashley.
"Thank you for saving them Cole." Garmadon said.
"I just happened to be at the right place at the right time." I said.
"What about Seliel and Allison?" Misako asked. "Are they ok?"
"Oh my gosh!" I freaked. "I need to call them and make sure they're ok. Can I borrow someone's phone please?"
Misako gave me her phone and I called Seliel.
"Hello?" She said on the other end.
"Seliel it's me." I said. "Are you and Allison alright?"
"Relax Cole, we're fine." She said. "You didn't come back for a while so I paid a cab to take us home. I tried to call you but you didn't answer."
"Thank goodness." I said relieved.
"Where are you?"
"It's a long story and I'll tell you everything later, just stay where you are and I'll be there soon."
"Why wouldn't you take your dragon?" She asked.
"I can't get it to work right now." I said. I didn't want to tell her about my wrist because I knew Allison was with her and I didn't want to upset her. "Just stay safe ok?"
"You don't have to worry about us, I've got pebbles on guard duty." She laughed. "I'll see you later, love ya."
"Love you too." I said as I hung up the phone.
I gave it back to Misako, thanked her, and told them all about what Seliel had said.
"At least you know they're safe." She assured me.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save Lloyd and Kira too." I frowned.
"It is not your fault Cole." Wu told me.
"How did you know we were in trouble?" Ryder asked me.
"I ran into the other villain kids and I heard them talking about an attack at the monastery." I explained. "I got there as soon as I could."
"How did you hurt your wrist?" Garmadon asked as he noticed me holding it.
"Let's just say those kids are stronger than they look." I sighed.
"Here Uncle Cole, let me help." Ashley insisted.
I knew that Ashley had recently inherited healing powers from Kira's side of the family, but I wasn't really sure how they worked. She came over to me and looked at my wrist. She then put her hands near it and they glowed a light blue color. A few minutes later my wrist was almost as good as new. Ashley looked a little tired and Ryder ran over to his sister to make sure she was ok.
"I'm fine Ryder." Ashley rolled her eyes. "How is that Uncle Cole?"
"It feels a lot better now. Thank you Ashley." I smiled.
"Did you master Spinjitsu yet Ryder?" Garmadon asked him.
"I've tried but I can't do it." Ryder frowned and shook his head. "I let my father down."
"Ryder look at me." Misako said to him. "Your father loves you very much, and I'm sure he's proud of you for trying your hardest."
"But he said I had to lead the team." He frowned. "What if I can't do it?"
"Have confidence younger nephew, and you can do anything." Wu said to him.
"And I'll always have your back." Ashley smiled and hugged her brother.
"Thanks Ash." The smile came back on Ryder's face.
"And don't worry, we will teach you everything we know." Garmadon smiled.
"I don't think we have room to train them in that tiny apartment brother." Wu said.
"Jay and Nya have a training course in their yard." I said. "Will that work?"
"It will have to do." Wu said. "We haven't a second to lose."
"I'll fly back home and get Seliel and Allison. We'll gather everyone else and tell them to meet there." I told them.
"Be safe Cole." Wu nodded.
I tried to form my dragon and this time it worked. I jumped on it and flew to my house where my wife, daughter, and Pebbles were very happy to see me. I just hope that this wouldn't be too much for the kids to handle. It was all up to them now.
Ryder's P.O.V.:
We were all riding in my grandma's car to my uncle Jay and Aunt Nya's house. The entire ride I kept thinking about my parents being locked up somewhere. If I had just told my father what was going on with Maizy in the first place then none of this would've happened.
To make matters worse, I saw my dad get hurt. If I hadn't told him a lie, maybe I could've saved them. That's not what a leader is supposed to be. My father always says that a good leader should be strong, smart, confident and know what to do when things go wrong, but how am I supposed to be a good leader if I can't even do spinjitsu yet? I don't know why my dad put me in charge. All I ever do is mess everything up.
"We're here." My grandmother said as we arrived at the place.
"Are you ready to take on the responsibility of leading your own team?" My great uncle said.
"I hope so." I swallowed.
"Ryder our parents are in danger." Ashley frowned. "I know you can do this."
"Ashley, I promise I'll get them back, or I'll try my best at least." I told her.
"That's all we ask." My grandfather said.
"Ryder, what made your father such a good leader was that he always knew what to do and when to do it." My grandma said. "I have confidence in you that you'll be a great leader too."
"Thanks Grandma." I smiled.
We all got out of the car and then we walked into Walker's backyard. Uncle Cole and everyone else was already there getting ready to train. They all looked at me when I walked in.
They all started to bombard me with questions and they were all talking at the same time it was hard to make out any of them.
'Think Ryder, what would Dad do?' I thought to myself.
"Stop!" I yelled and everyone went silent. "I know you all are concerned about what happens from here on out. The Villain Kid Alliance are strong, but I believe that with everyone's help we can be stronger. With Amber's confidence, Allison's strength, Lily's creativity, Jax's agility, Matt's charisma, Blake's ambition, Alex's smarts, Trent's determination and Ashley's compassion, our team will be unstoppable. As for me, I've been put in charge of leading the team, but you should know that I've never led a team before and to be honest, I don't really know how to do it, but my father always said the best way to learn is through experience. So, if you guys are willing follow me, then I will try my hardest to be the best leader I can."
There was a moment of awkward silence where everyone was just starring at each other. Then Amber came forward and stuck out her hand.
"We'll follow every step of the way." She smiled.
"I'm in." Allison agreed and put her hand on top of Amber's.
"Count us in too." Lily said as she and her brother put their hands in too. Then Alex, Blake, Matt, Trent and Ashley followed.
"We got your back bro." Ashley smiled.
I put on my hand on top of the rest. "Ok team, let's get my parents back."
"JUNIOR NINJA GO!" We all cheered on three.
It was nice to know that my team believed in me, I just hope that I wouldn't end up letting them down.
