The Forth Mask: Part 2

Narrator's P.O.V.:

"Get away from him!" Lloyd yelled.

"Lloyd?!"

Akamu screamed and charged at Lloyd. They kept fighting back and forth. The other villain kids had unknowingly followed Lloyd, Kira and Garmadon here and busted in during all the chaos. Zera used her powers to freeze all of the adults except for Lloyd and Akamu in time, forcing the junior ninja to fight them off.

Matt ran with Ashley to get her to Jay's panic room in the basement of the house and called the cops so Akamu wouldn't be able to hurt her. Blake took on Zera, Amber and Katie fought with Lena, Allison faced Marcus, Lily and Jax tag teamed against Seth, and Trent was helping out wherever he could with his samurai X suit.

As for Alex, he noticed Axel escaping within all the chaos and followed him outside of the house.

While the others were handling the VKA, Ryder found himself with his powers charged up facing his father and the imposter. He knew he had to hit one, but if he got this wrong it could be the worst mistake of his life.

"Hit him son!" One of the Lloyd's shouted. "Now's your chance!"

"Don't listen to him Ryder! He's the imposter!" The other one said.

Ryder didn't know what to do. If he hit his dad, he'd never forgive himself and if he did nothing his sister would be taken. He had to get this right.

"Ryder, do something!" Amber yelled as she was fighting Lena.

"I can't, I don't know who's who." He gulped.

"I'm your real dad son, I love you." One of them looked at him.

"I'd like to hear you say that to your own daughter." The other one said shoving his look-alike.

"I love Ashley too." He pushed him.

"You know what I meant."

"I don't know. Dad, give me a sign." Ryder said.

One Lloyd looked at him with a smile and winked, the other one looked Ryder right in the eyes and pointed to the green bandana around his leg. Ryder knew that was his mother's and that had to be his real dad.

All of a sudden, Ryder spun into a green tornado and knocked the imposter into the wall. The impact caused the mask to fall off Akamu's face and it broke. He was stunned and was breathing on the floor.

"NOOOO!!!" He screamed.

"Come on guys, let's bolt." Zera said.

Lena used a spell to teleport all of the villain kids out of there. Everyone was no longer frozen in time. Kira ran to Lloyd as he was about to pass out.

"Maybe that'll teach you not to mess with my family Akamu." Ryder said to him.

"You..." He said looking in Ryder's direction. "I will make sure you regret this. All you Garmadons ever do is tear families apart, and thanks to you I'll never get mine back together."

It was only seconds before the police were outside and took Akamu away. Ryder took a deep breath and ran to his parents. Ashley followed.

"Mom! Dad!" He exclaimed.

"We're alright kids." Kira smiled before coughing.

"No way, you're both going to the hospital." Misako insisted, looking at how hurt the two of them were.

"That's not a bad idea." Garmadon agreed.

"You guys go." Nya said. "We'll stay here and clean up."

"Wait, did anyone notice that Maizy wasn't here?" Ryder asked.

Lloyd and Kira looked at each other. They didn't want Ryder to be worried about what was going to happen to Maizy, but they didn't want to tell him the truth just yet.

"She'll be fine bud." Lloyd said. "She has someone that will treat her better now."

"Don't worry, things will be much better for her now." Kira said.

"Come on, let's get you both checked out." Garmadon said.

"Wait, where is Alex?" Zane looked around.

The others started looking too, but they found no sign of him.

"I'm tracking his location now." Pixal said using her scanners. "That's odd. He appears to have left."

"Wait, did anyone see Axel in the second half of that battle?" Amber realized.

"We have to get to him. Now." Zane panicked.

"Let us go then." Pixal nodded.

Zane formed his dragon and he Pixal flew off in search of Alex.

Alex's P.O.V.:

After following him a little ways into the woods, I found myself face to face with Axel. I had a score to settle with him. I tried to throw a punch but he dodged it and threw his ice powers at me. My eyes widened as I realized what was happening.

"You." I squinted my eyes. "You broke into Borg Industries. You stole the information and used it to turn yourself into an exact copy of me. My powers didn't disappear, you took them from me."

"Wow, for such advanced technology, you sure are slow." Axel taunted.

"You tried to hurt Cass." I screamed.

"My mission was to hit you anyway, but why not make it more dramatic."

"Who created you?!" I demanded to know. "Was it the Overlord?"

"The less you know the better you piece of scrap metal."

He tried to punch me in my chest, but I blocked it with my arm and the impact hit that instead. I was leaking oil from where his punch hit, but I couldn't stop now.

"See, you're weak. You'll never be a real ninja like your father." Axel taunted. "As for Cass, I think she could do much better."

"Don't talk about her like that!" I screamed in anger.

I was so furious and frustrated that I felt something running through my wiring. It felt powerful. I shot this giant ice beam right at him, it hit him in the leg and he fell to the ground. I couldn't believe it. My powers were back!

"You may have won this time, but I'll make you regret this nindroid-wannabe." He threatened.

He started to limp away. I would have followed him but I heard someone coming and screaming my name.

"Alex!" My father yelled out from his dragon.

He landed it and him and my mom ran to me.

"What happened, are you ok?" My mother looked at my arm.

"I am better than ok, I got my power back!" I exclaimed.

"That's great Alex." My father smiled.

My mother continued looking at my arm. "It doesn't look too bad, but we should get you back for repairs."

"I'm ok Mom." I assured her. "The important thing is that Cass is safe, at least for now."

"We can call her after we get you repaired." My father said.

"Ok." I agreed.

I got on my father's dragon and he flew us back to the house. Once we were there, my mom started to repair me and I called Cass and told her everything. I know I still had to put a stop to my imposter, but I felt like a hero.

Narrator's P.O.V.:

When it was all over, the Garmadon family got Lloyd and Kira into Misako's car and she drove the whole family to the hospital. Ryder and Ashley sat in the waiting room while Wu, Misako and Garmadon were getting them checked in.

Afterwards, they sat down with the kids. They were clearly worried, but they all knew that Lloyd and Kira had been though worse. They would be ok. It was about an hour until they heard anything about their condition.

"Garmadon family." A nurse came up to them, a smile on her face.

"Are they ok?" Misako asked.

"Well Kira has a bad bruise on her arm, a slight strain in her neck, she sprained her knee, and she seems to be combating a cold, but with medicine and rest that should go away in a few days." She explained. "As for Lloyd, he suffered from at least two fractured ribs, a sprained wrist, a black eye, a big wound on his head that possibly caused a concussion, and we had to give him some stitches for that cut on his leg."

"Will they be ok?" Ashley looked up at her.

"They might have to stay here overnight, but your parents are gonna be just fine." She smiled.

"That's great news." Misako sighed with relief.

"How much do we owe you?" Garmadon asked.

"Oh that's not necessary, you Garmadons have given us so much business over the years, this one's on us." She laughed.

"May we see them?" Wu asked.

"Of course, right this way."

They followed the nurse to Lloyd and Kira's room. They walked in and both Lloyd and Kira set up. Kira's knee was in a cast, her arm was wrapped in bandages and she still had a cough but her cold was getting better. Lloyd's arm was in a sling because of his wrist, and his head and sides were still in pain but he felt a lot better now that he was with his family.

"Easy Lloyd." Misako told him as she ran by his bedside.

"I'm ok Mom." He assured her.

Ryder came over and gave his mom a hug. Then he looked back at Lloyd.

"Hey bud." Lloyd smiled.

"Hey Dad." Ryder sighed.

"What's the matter Ryder?" He asked.

"I... I feel like I let you down." He frowned.

"What?"

"If I would have told you what she doing in the first place then you and Mom would have never been captured and..."

"Don't blame yourself son." Kira interrupted. "None of this is your fault."

"When it really mattered, you knew what to do and when to do it." Lloyd smiled. "That's exactly what a good leader does."

"So you're not mad at me?" He looked at him.

"Mad? Son we're proud of you." Lloyd smiled.

"We'll always be proud of you." Kira smiled.

"So does this mean I'm ungrounded now?" Ryder asked.

"I'm sure we can work something out." Kira laughed.

Ashley was over by Lloyd's bed and she looked at him. Lloyd was concerned about her.

"You ok Ash?" Lloyd asked her.

She shook her head and frowned.

"It's ok sunshine, your dad and I are gonna be fine." Kira assured her.

"Why did he want me?" She asked.

"What do you mean?" Kira asked.

"My power." She looked at her hands. "He wanted me to heal someone."

"Ashley there's nothing you could've done." Kira frowned. "You're still getting used to your powers and using that much of it would have killed you."

"It could?" She looked at her hands with fear in her eyes.

"Don't worry sweetie, that won't happen as long as you're pacing yourself." Kira said.

Ashley nodded. She was still nervous, but Kira made her feel a little better.

"Well it looks like we're gonna be here for tonight." Lloyd sighed, looking at the stitches on his leg.

"I can try to heal you Daddy?" Ashley asked.

"That's alright sunshine. We'll be ok." Lloyd told her. "It's nothing your mom and I can't handle."

"Are you guys ok with keeping the kids a little longer? At least until we can go home?" Kira asked Wu.

"Of course we can." Wu agreed.

"So is this it? Is it all over?" Ryder asked.

"I'm afraid not bud." Lloyd frowned. "The VKA got away and that means they'll be back to their old tricks sooner or later, but now that you know what you're up against you'll be able to fight them even better."

"You mean I have to lead them again?" Ryder asked nervously.

"Yes, but you can do it just like you did all of this." Lloyd smiled. "The team needs a leader, and they're counting on you."

"But I thought this was a one time thing, not my job for the rest of my life." He crossed his arms.

"The green ninja has to be ready for anything at anytime. It's to keep the good and evil of Ninjago in balance." Lloyd explained. "If there wasn't a green ninja, the balance would fall to the darkness and we would all be doomed."

"I know." Ryder sighed.

"I'm sorry bud. I know what it's like to not get a choice, but Ninjago needs a green ninja and since you inherited my power, you're the only one who can do it. It's your destiny Ryder."

"I won't let Ninjago down Dad, I promise." Ryder smiled.

"That's my boy." Lloyd smiled and ruffled his son's hair with his good arm.

He felt bad that Ryder didn't get a choice, but he was so proud of him for understanding and accepting the responsibility of the green ninja. He knew how hard it was to give up everything else you love to follow your destiny, even if it was something you were dragged into.

The nurse came back into the room. She gave everyone a rundown of Lloyd and Kira's conditions and asked if anyone had any questions.

"How long will they have to stay here?" Garmadon asked.

"Well, they'll be cleared to go home tomorrow afternoon but they will need to rest. They'll need someone to take care of them."

"I can stay with them." Misako offered.

"Mom we can't ask you to do that." Lloyd frowned.

"I wasn't asking." She said.

"Well then I guess we'll see you tomorrow." Garmadon said.

"Are you sure you don't need me to stay here tonight?" Misako asked Lloyd.

"We'll be alright, I have Kira here to keep me company." He smiled

"Right." Kira said. "I've always taken care of him before, and I don't plan on stopping now."

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

Kira and I said goodbye to our family and they left. I looked over at Kira and she was upset.

"You ok?" I asked her.

"Yeah it's just, even though we just saw them, I already miss the kids." She giggled.

"I get that, I can't wait to be back home." I admitted.

"Me too."

"I'm sorry that we had to go through that." I sighed. "I guess sometimes my past comes back to bite me and I keep dragging you into it."

"You warned me about this when we got married. I said that I was willing to do whatever it took to be with you, no matter what the risks were, no matter what villains came after us I promised to stay by you and 14 years later I still kept that promise and I don't plan on breaking it."

"That means the world to me, but usually only I get hurt from this kind of stuff. I guess after you and Ryder I just feel like this is all my fault."

"But it's not. You didn't know anything about this. It's Akamu who should take the blame."

"You're right." I sighed. "How do you think Zach and Maizy are doing?"

"I'm they're in a much better situation now." She smiled.

Zach's P.O.V.:

Maizy came home and she had heard about what happened, but she didn't know the full story. It's time I tell her everything.

"Uncle Zach? What happened? Did he hit you again?" She asked, noticing the bruise on the side of my face.

"Never mind that. Maizy, there's something that I have to tell you, and this is pretty big." I sighed.

"Save it, I already know they took my father to Kryptarian." She sighed and set down. "Can't say I'm surprised."

"It's for his own good." I set down next to her. "You know you're father wasn't always like this."

"He wasn't?"

"No, he used to be a different person, a better person, a better father, but then something... happened."

"Before my mother died?" She guessed.

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." I sighed. "You know that you and your mother were in a car accident when you were a baby. Right?"

"Yeah, she used her powers to save me, right?"

"Yes she did, but your father only told you half of the truth."

"What do you mean?" She asked. "Is my mother alive?"

"Well, sort of." I said. She looked confused. "It's hard to explain."

"Where is she?"

"Come on, I have something I want to show you."

I led Maizy to the secret room in the house. Akamu had never shown this room to her before because it had something that she was never supposed to see. I didn't like going in there, but Maizy deserved to know the truth.

I turned the key and opened the door. This small room is where my sister has been laying unconscious for the past 12 years. I wish I visited her more often, but I couldn't stand the thought of her like this.

Maizy walked over to Zoey on the bed. All she could do was stare at her.

"I-Is that...?" Maizy stuttered.

"Yes." I nodded. "She's been like this since the accident."

"So the whole reason my father was after Ashley, was so that she could use her power to heal her?"

"Yes, and if he had gotten away with it, it would have killed that little girl, and it wouldn't have worked anyway." I frowned.

"Isn't there something else we could do?" Maizy asked.

"I'm sorry but there's nothing to be done." I frowned. "I've tried to explain that to your father for the longest time, but he never listened."

"So she's just been laying there for years and years?" She asked and I nodded. "Why did my father let her suffer like this?"

"Because he had trouble letting her go." I frowned. "I've been trying to tell you about it before, but your father said you didn't need to know, but I think as her daughter you deserve to."

"So what happens now?" She looked at me.

"I think that's up to you to decide." I said.

"Why me?"

"Because she's your mother, it should be your decision."

Maizy walked back over to Zoey's bed. She held her hand.

"Mom, I don't know if you can hear me or not, but this is Maizy. For years I thought that you were gone, that's why I never came to visit. Don't worry about me, I'll be ok now. Uncle Zach will take good care of me. I love you and I'll see you again someday."

She gave Zoey a kiss on her cheek and I saw her wipe the tears off her face. She turned to me and ran into my arms.

"Thank you." She said.

"For what?" I was confused.

"For being the father I never had."

In all the years I've known Maizy, never once has she thanked anyone for anything. I couldn't help but smile as a tear rolled down my face. The last promise I made to my sister before they put her into the coma was that I would protect her daughter, but Akamu made that nearly impossible. Now I had the chance to keep my promise to her, but I didn't realize I already had.

"Do you wanna be here when I..."

"No, it would be too hard." Maizy frowned. "Thank you for letting me say goodbye."

"Of course. You better get some rest, it's been a really long day."

She nodded and headed for her bedroom. I turned to Zoey on the bed.

"Goodbye sis. Nothing will happen to Maizy on my watch. I promise. See you later."

I sighed and took a deep breath. I unplugged the machines that were keeping her alive. It hurt me so bad, but I knew that she would be happier in the departed realm. I was gonna miss her so much, but at least she wasn't suffering anymore. I'm just glad Maizy knew the truth before it was too late. I can finally start moving on.
