Open Arms
This is kind of a short chapter, but it's a fun one. I'll try to post another chapter either later today or tomorrow. Anyways enjoy. 😁

Nya's P.O.V.:
Today was the day we were supposed to go home. We actually had a really fun time hiking and fishing with the kids and the Brookstones. Matt joined us on most of our outings. He knew a lot about nature and knew his way around the woods. It made me think that he had been living there a while.
Some of Matt's memories were slowly coming back. He remembered that he used to go camping with his parents around this area, but he couldn't remember what they looked like or anything like that.
I wanted to find out more about Matt before we left so we could get him back to his family in case they lived around here. That's why I sent a sample of his DNA to Zane to see what he could find out. I had just gotten a packet with the results inside and a part of me was afraid of what it might say, but we had to know.
I opened the packet and looked at the file. It had his birth certificate and a police report inside. That really scared me.
The twins were outside playing tag with Matt and Allison, so I went inside to tell Jay, Cole and Seliel about what it said. They all read it and we were all saddened by what we found out.
"Matt's gonna be devastated." Jay frowned.
"I feel like it's partly our fault." Cole sighed. "We got his hopes up about getting him back to his family, but it looks like that's going to be impossible now."
"We can't just let him live in the woods for the rest of his life." Seliel said.
"And we're not going to." I stated. "There's no telling what would happen to him out there all alone."
"Then what do you think we should do?" Jay asked me.
I was worried about what was going to happen to Matt. I know there are some nice families in the foster system, but I don't want to be the one to push him out of our family.
I remember Kai telling me stories of how he and I almost ended up in foster care when our parents disappeared. I was only three years old and Kai was like five or six. Kai absolutely refused to let them take us away because he knew they would split us up and we would never see each other again. Finally they ended up getting us a babysitter to watch us everyday as a compromise. Mrs. Grummiller was the worst, but at least Kai and I got to stay together.
"Well we could take him home with us, at least for a little while." I suggested looking at Jay.
He and I had talked about adopting before I got pregnant, so I was hoping he would be open to the idea of Matt staying with us.
"I think that's a great idea." Jay smiled. "I don't think the kids would mind."
"I guess someone has to tell him now." Seliel frowned.
"Tell me what?" We heard Matt's voice from behind us.
We turned around and saw all four kids standing there. We all still had frowns on our faces which made them uneasy.
"Why don't you guys go pack up your things?" I told them. "We need to talk to Matt alone."
They all agreed and Seliel went with them to help them pack. Matt came and set with us in the living room.
"What's going on? Did you find out about my parents?" He asked excitedly.
"Not exactly." I frowned. "You see, we got your results back today and I'm afraid we have some bad news."
"Bad news?" He frowned.
"You're real name is Matthew Drake Scott, and your parents were named Tom and Amy." Jay explained.
"Well where are they?" He asked.
"Well when our friend sent us the results there was a police report in there too." I explained. "About six months ago, you and your parents were driving up to the cabin and the car crashed."
"Your parents didn't make it." Jay frowned. "The police never found any sign of you, so they assumed you died in the crash too. That's why no one came back and looked for you."
"Are you ok?" Cole asked Matt, who was understandably in a bit of shock.
"I... I don't know." He frowned and wiped a tear from his eye.
"We understand that this is hard to take." Cole frowned. "I lost my mother when I was your age. I know what you're going through."
"So I've been living in the forest for six months by myself?" He questioned.
"That does explain how he knows his way around the woods so well." Jay whispered to me and Cole.
"We can figure that out later." I told him.
"W-what's going to happen to me now?" Matt asked.
"Well one things for sure, we're going to make sure that you don't have to be alone anymore." I assured him.
"You will?" He asked.
"Of course, we're not just going to leave you out in the woods." Jay said.
"You're more than welcome to come stay with us for as long as you like." I smiled.
"We'll make sure you have everything you need." Jay added. "And I'm sure Jax and Lily would love to have someone to play with."
"But of course it's your dec..." I was cut off when Matt got up and wrapped his arms around both me and Jay.
"We'll take that as a yes." Jay smiled.
"Thank you." He smiled through his tears. "This means so much to me."
"Of course." Jay smiled.
"We're happy you're going to be a part of our family." I smiled.
"Me too." Matt smiled.
We helped the kids get the last of their stuff together and then we got them and Matt back home. Jay and I took him to the mall and got him a bed, some new clothes and everything else he needed. Jay even set up one of his old phones so Matt could have one. He got to meet our dog Bolt, who he got along great with. He seemed to be really happy here and I was glad he didn't have to be alone anymore.
Matt's P.O.V.:
It was really nice of Mr and Mrs Walker to take me into their home. I was sad about what happened to my parents, but honestly I still don't remember much about them. Maybe one day the memories will come back to back to me.
I still couldn't believe that I had been living in the woods for that long all by myself. I'm so thankful that they found me when they did and welcomed me into their home. I got along well with Jax and Lily and was glad I had friends like them.
I was getting ready for bed in the new bed they had bought for me in Jax's room. He did snore a little, but I didn't mind it much. I was just happy to have a real bed.
I went to sleep that night and all of a sudden a memory came back to me.
**********Flashback*********
I was walking in the woods by myself when I saw someone. It was a girl a little older than me with a long black ponytail. There was a strange purple glow of light coming from her hands and reciting a spell from some kind of book.
I carefully approached her, but I ended up startling her and she threw a glowing purple ball right at me. I tumbled into a tree behind me and hit my head really hard.
******End of Flashback******
I woke up in my room heavily breathing from the dream I just had. I now remembered that it wasn't the car crash that caused my amnesia, it must've been whatever that girl hit me with. I needed to find that girl and get her to reverse it. I knew that wouldn't bring my parents back, but it would at least bring back some of their memories.
I quietly got out of bed and started to pack my backpack with everything I needed. I was about to go out the door when I woke Jax up.
"Matt, where are you going?" He yawned.
"I know what caused my memory loss, or should I say who." I frowned. "I'm going back to the forest to try and find them."
"What? That's crazy." He said.
"Look, I don't have my parents anymore, and thanks to this girl I barely remember them. I figured if I find her, then maybe she could undo what she did and I would remember them."
"Well you won't have any luck getting back there tonight." Jax rubbed his eyes. "It's a long way away from here and frankly I don't want to go back there after what happened to you."
"Please, I have to know."
"Look we'll talk about this in the morning." He yawned and laid back down. The next thing I knew he was snoring again.
I thought about it a long time, but in the end I decided to ask Mr and Mrs Walker about it in the morning. I just hope that one day I'll remember who they were.
