Milestones
Hey guys! I know it's taken forever to get this chapter out because I just went back to college and got my parakeet, but I hope that it was worth the wait. Please enjoy and I'll try to get stuff out more often.

Maizy's P.O.V.:
I walked into the old temple, ready to face the rest of the VKA. What were they going to say? What were they going to do? I had a million questions but I just had to remember what me uncle told me. If they're really my friends, they will respect my decision.
I walk in and everyone looked at me, looks of betrayal on their faces.
"Hey guys." I waved awkwardly.
"You have some nerve coming back here." Seth narrowed his eyes at me.
"Well you won't have to see me long, I just came to say that I..."
"You what?" Lena interrupted me, standing with her arms crossed.
"I quit, ok?" I frowned. "I just can't do it anymore."
"You just can't walk right out of here, you know that." Marcus said.
"Yeah, we can't risk a goodie two shoes like you spilling our secrets." Axel cracked his knuckles.
"Well, if you want to erase my brain, you'll have to catch me first." I smirked.
All five of them started chasing me down throwing everything they had at me. Even Zena was trying to chase me down. I kept putting up my force field and trying to block their shots, but at one point there was too many things hitting me at once and one of Axel's lasers hit me in the arm. Eventually I managed to loose them and I had to go to the one place I knew I was safe.
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
I woke up this morning and I was feeling better than I've been in a long time. It took a month of physical therapy and a lot more rest than I wanted to take, but I was finally feeling like my old self again. And best of all, my dad and I could finally spend some time together.
Now that I had finally gotten the cast off my wrist and my stitches all healed up, we could go to the park and try out that baseball glove my dad gave me. I had been waiting for this since I was a kid, well really I didn't have time when I was a kid, so really I had been waiting a lifetime.
I walked downstairs with a big smile on my face. My family was eating breakfast.
"Well someone's looking better." Kira smiled.
"Yeah, I feel great today." I smiled and sat down at the table. "Did you make eggs and bacon?"
"I wanted pancakes but nooooo." Ryder crossed his arms.
"Ryder, we have pancakes all the time, try something different for a change." Kira put a plate of bacon and eggs in front of him.
Ryder rolled his eyes and reluctantly ate his breakfast. Than I heard a knock on the door.
"You want me to get that?" Kira asked me.
"No I got it." I insisted.
Thinking it was my father, I got up and excitedly walked to the door. I saw Maizy at the door and she was out of breath and sweaty like she had run the whole way here. She was holding her arm like she was hurt.
"Maizy? What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Th... They're after me." She said out of breath.
Maizy was so tired she almost collapsed on the porch. Ryder heard what was happening and ran to the door. He helped Maizy up, got her inside and set her down on the couch to get a look at her arm.
"Are you ok? What happened?" Ryder asked.
"I quit the VKA and let's just say they didn't take it well." She frowned.
"Were you followed?" I asked.
"No, I took the long way to throw them off. I lost them around the birch wood forest."
"You went all the way over there?" Ryder questioned.
"Yeah." She caught her breath.
"What happened to your arm?" Ryder asked.
"It happened when I tried to escape." She frowned. "One of Axel's lasers hit me."
Ryder got the first aid kit and wrapped up her wounded arm. He learned a lot from watching Kira over the years.
"Is that better?" He asked her.
"Yeah thanks." Maizy said. "Oh and by the way, I took something at the last minute."
She took off her backpack and opened it to reveal the scroll of forbidden spinjitsu inside. Ryder and I were shocked.
"Maizy be careful with that." I told her. "Elemental masters have a long history of becoming corrupted with the power of the scroll."
"I know, I'll be careful." She nodded and closed her bag.
"Maizy, once they find out you took this, you know they will stop at nothing to take it back." Ryder said.
"I know, but this was the only way I could prove to you I left for good." Maizy said awkwardly. "It's... also my way of apologizing."
"For what?" I asked.
"For what happened at the museum." She frowned. "It was all my fault. Zena found my phone and ratted me out so I had to lie and tell them I was planning a trap. I figured if I gave you the scroll back, you would trust me."
"I can't believe you risked everything just to bring that to me." Ryder said.
"So, are we cool?" She shrugged.
"We're cool." Ryder smiled and gave Maizy a fist bump.
A few minutes later, there was another knock at the door. This time it actually was my father.
"Hey Dad." I smiled.
"Hey son. Are you ready for our father-son day?" He asked with a smile.
"Sorry, I might have to take a rain check on that." I frowned. "Maizy showed up and she needs our help with something."
"Lloyd, I can take care of it." Kira appeared behind me.
"Thanks Kira but I can do it. Besides, I've waited my whole life for this, what's one more day?" I sighed.
"But Lloyd, I know how much you were looking forward to this." Kira frowned. "I think you should go."
"But what about...?"
"It's fine, I can handle everything here." She smiled and kissed my cheek. "Now you go have fun with your dad."
"Thank you." I smiled.
We said I love you to each other and my dad and I headed over to the park.
"Wow, Kira really cares about you." My dad smiled.
"Yeah she's the best." I smiled. "Her birthday is coming up so I want to get her something really nice."
"Any ideas?" He asked.
"Not a one." I frowned. "I have a long history of getting terrible gifts for her. She pretends to like them but they're always awful."
"Maybe after the park we can hit the mall and I'll help you pick something out." He smiled. "Although I gotta warn you, I don't know how much help I'll be. It's been a while since I went shopping."
"That's ok Dad, I'm just happy that I finally get to spend time with you." I smiled.
"Me too." He smiled.
We got to the park and started throwing the ball back and forth. It took a while for me to get the hang of it, but once I got it down it was everything I had hoped for since I was a child. Finally, some real quality time with my dad.
Nya's P.O.V.:
I was still starring at this Dean character. I had so many questions but I didn't think he would give me honest answers.
"I'm sorry, I think that I'm gonna need to see some ID." I demanded.
"I should call the police on you for keeping my nephew from me." Dean said.
"We have paperwork saying that my husband and I are his guardians for the time being." I told him. "I can show it to you if you..."
"I don't think that some random people would be put ahead of his own family." He interrupted.
"We don't want any trouble, we just didn't know Matt had any family left." I admitted.
"He never mentioned me?"
"No, but he's just starting to regain his memories so he doesn't remember much of anything at the moment." I said. "Who told you he was here anyway?"
"I have my sources."
He gestured to the black car behind him and a guy in a tuxedo stepped out holding a clipboard. This just got ten times worse. I needed backup.
"Jay!" I called inside the house.
Jay ran to the door, in his pajamas of course.
"What's up?" He asked.
The guy in the tux pulled out a card and I looked at it. It was a business card with a lawyer's office and all of his information on it. It seemed like he was one of the lawyers that worked there.
"My name is Glenn Watson and I'm here on the grounds of Dean Scott in the case of winning custody over his nephew, Matthew."
Jay and I looked at each other. We had no idea where all this came from, but if Matt had a chance to meet someone from his real family, who were we to stand in the way?
"We can't keep from his real family Jay." I frowned.
"Give us until morning to pack his things." Jay nodded trying not to tear up.
So when the lawyer and Dean finally left, we went back inside to see Matt and the twins happily eating their sandwiches. It broke my heart to see him go, but he had to be with his real family.
"Who was at the door?" Lily asked.
"It's not important." I lied.
"Lily, Jax, go get ready for our training session this afternoon." Jay told them.
"Ok Dad." They both nodded.
The twins ran upstairs to put their gear on. Matt noticed the looks on our faces and knew something was wrong.
"What? What is it?" Matt frowned.
"Matt, that person at the door was your uncle." I frowned.
"My what now?" His eyes lit up.
"We didn't know anything about it either." Jay frowned.
"So what happens now? Am I going to have to leave?" Matt looked worried.
"Well, our agreement with the court was that you could live with us if you had no one from your real family to take you in, so if he really is your uncle, we don't get a say in that." I explained.
"But I like it here. I want to stay with you." Matt frowned.
"We want you to stay too, but our hands are tied here." I frowned.
"Maybe your uncle will let you come back and visit so you can see us from time to time." Jay suggested.
"But I like living here." He frowned. "How can you be sure that this guy is even my uncle in the first place? I don't remember having one."
"The city wouldn't allow them to do this if he wasn't." I frowned. "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do."
"But this doesn't have to be a bad thing, you might like living with him." Jay suggested.
"Yeah, he may have stories about your parents that he could tell you." I added.
"You think?" Matt looked at us, the tears in his eyes starting to dry up a little.
"Yeah, this guy probably knows a lot of stories about your parents." Jay nodded.
"Let's just try it for a little while and if you don't like it then we'll see what we can do. Ok?" I suggested.
"Ok, I guess I can do that much." Matt frowned.
He got up and went upstairs to pack his things.
"Well that went better than expected." Jay shrugged.
"I sure am gonna miss that kid." I frowned.
"I am too, but this is what's best for him." Jay put his arm around me. "But hey, maybe this doesn't have to be the last kid."
"Jay you know that's a long shot." I frowned.
"No not that, I mean we could find another kid who needs a home and give them one."
"You know that means we have to go through all of this again." I frowned.
"Yeah, but it would feel so good that we helped put a family back together, right?"
"I guess." I pondered. "I'll think about it, but for now let's just be there for Matt."
"Agreed." Jay nodded.
I honestly didn't want to send Matt away, especially now that he's part of the ninja team. I was gonna miss him but at least he would be with his real family now. I just hope he would be happy in his new home.
