Life Changes (Epilouge)
Jay's P.O.V.:
It had been a week since Matt moved out. We had stayed in touch with him and it sounded like he was pretty happy there. He said it was a bit cramped and he missed seeing us a lot, but other than that he was having a great time.
I was glad he was getting along so well with his uncle, but we all missed him around the house. Tonight Jax had invited Matt over for a sleepover, so he would be back for another day.
"Is he here yet?" Jax ran downstairs. He was so excited.
"Not yet sport." I laughed.
"Did you clean your room yet?" Nya asked him.
"Yeah Mom." Jax rolled his eyes.
"And by clean I mean not just stuffing everything in your closet." She crossed her arms.
"Well then you should have specified that before I got done." Jax said.
I couldn't help but laugh. My boy was so much like me.
Just then there was a knock at the door and Lily and Jax ran to the door. I opened it and Matt and his uncle were standing outside.
We exchanged hugs all around and then all three kids ran up to Jax's room to play video games.
"Thanks for bringing him by." Nya said to Dean.
"Oh it was no problem." He smiled. "He's always talking about how much he loves it over here.
"Yeah, we had some good times." I smiled.
"If it's ok, there's something I wanted to talk to you guys about." Dean said.
"Ok, what is it?" Nya asked.
"Well, I love having Matt around, but I just can't take care of him in that tiny apartment." Dean sighed. "There's barely enough space for me, let alone him too."
"So what are you asking?" I wondered.
"I want Matt to live here instead." Dean sighed. "I thought him living with his real family would be better for him, but I now realize that he already was."
"We'd be happy to take Matt back, but are you sure that's what he wants?" Nya asked. "He seems like he's having a great time with you."
"He is, and I am too, but in that tiny space he seems miserable." He frowned. "I think it's best for everyone if he moved back in with you."
"I think we should let Matt make that decision." Nya suggested.
"Decide what?" Matt and the kids came from behind us.
"Matt, I've been thinking about our living situation and I thought that you could move back in here." Dean told him.
Matt thought about it for a minute. "Will I still get to see you?"
"Of course. I can visit you, you can visit me we'll make it work. We are family after all." He smiled.
"Well than I guess I'm moving back in." Matt smiled.
We all hugged and welcomed Matt back into the family. We were so happy to be all together again.
Cole's P.O.V.:
Seliel, Allison and I were having Kirby over for dinner. He said he had some big news to tell us, but he didn't sound too happy about it.
"So what did you want to talk to us about?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, well my brother got this new job and because I live with him, he wants me to move there with him." Kirby said.
"Where is it at?" Seliel asked.
"It's all the way in Stixx." He frowned.
"You can't move to Stixx." Allison blurted out. "That's miles away."
"I know, but I don't have a choice." Kirby frowned. "I can't afford my own place."
I looked at Seliel and she looked at me. We both had the same idea.
"Hey, if you want to we have a spare room." I smiled.
"Really? You mean it?" Kirby smiled.
"That's a great idea!" Allison exclaimed. "Then he can play with Pebbles."
"Pebbles? Is that your dog?" Kirby asked.
"Not exactly." I laughed.
I put my fingers in my mouth and whistled. Pebbles came bursting through the back door and tackled Kirby to the ground. He was laughing as he wiped the dragon slobber off his face.
"Nice to meet you too Pebbles." Kirby laughed.
I didn't know what it would be like, but I think that Kirby will fit in well here. After all, he is family.
Zane's P.O.V.:
Alex, Pixal and I were happy that things were back to normal again. Well for the most part at least. Ever since Alex got back into his body and separated from Cass, he couldn't get his powers to work. We understood why he didn't get the powers back. He had transferred them to Cass and she still had them.
Cass was over at our place trying to figure out a way to transfer the powers back into Alex, but a second power transfer would be risky for both of them. They were lucky to make it through the first one.
"So what do we do?" Cass asked.
"I told you I don't need my powers back Cass, you can keep them." Alex told her.
"But I'm not half the ninja you are with these powers." Cass looked at her hands. "And I know how much you miss being on the team."
"I do miss it, but I can't risk hurting you." Alex said holding Cass's hand.
"What about that machine that gave Alex his powers in the first place? Couldn't we use that?" I asked Pixal.
"My father disabled it years ago after Alex's powers became permanent." Pixal told me. "It would take a long time to rebuild it."
I sat there thinking about what I could do to help my son out. It got me thinking about what I really need my powers for? Sure I could train Alex, but he knows everything already and maybe even more than me. It was clear to me that my son needed powers more than I did, so I did the only thing I could do.
"Alex, I have something that will fix everything." I stood up.
"Zane, you know if you do this you..."
"I know Pixal, but he needs them more." I smiled at my wife.
She nodded and kissed my cheek. I walked up to Alex and started transferring my powers to him. I knew this meant that I'd lose them forever, but for my son, it was worth it.
At the end of the transfer, I could barely stand up, but Alex looked stronger than ever. Pixal ran to me and helped me sit down.
"Dad, why did you that?" Alex looked at me.
"So you could have your powers." I caught my breath.
"But what about you?" He asked.
"I don't need them anymore, but it's important that you have them now." I said.
"But weren't you worried what happen if you transferred them to me?" Alex frowned.
"When you were younger I was, but now that you are more mature and upgraded you had a better chance of dealing with the process." I explained.
"So does that mean both of us have powers now?" Cass asked.
"Yes I believe it does." Pixal nodded.
Alex gave me a big hug and broke down in tears of joy and relief.
"I love you Dad." He cried.
"I love you too son." I smiled.
Our moment was interrupted by a knock on the door. Pixal went to answer it and we saw Axel standing there. We all assumed a fighting stance ready to defend ourselves, but the weird thing was he didn't seem like he wanted to fight back.
"What are you doing here Axel?" Alex walked up to him.
"Axel? Is that my name?" He asked.
"What?" Cass questioned. We were all a little confused.
"I'm sorry, let me explain." He said. "I woke in Borg tower but I had no memories of why I was there. The only thing I remember was you being there." He pointed right at me.
"So what are you doing here then?" Alex crossed his arms.
"I'm here, because I'm hoping you can help me." He said.
"Why would we help you after what you did to Alex?" Cass griped.
"What did I do?" Axel was confused.
"Wait you really can't remember anything?" Pixal asked coming closer to him.
Axel shook his head and frowned. Pixal came up to him and ran a diagnostics scan on him.
"It appears you have sustained a great amount of data loss." She told him. "It's almost as if he's been entirely reprogrammed."
"Reprogrammed?" He asked.
"I think I know what happened." I said. "When I emitted that pulse, it disconnected all technology in the area. So what if it disconnected Axel from the overlord?"
"If that's the case, than Axel would have lost all data and programming the overlord gave him, and since that's all he's ever known, it's almost like starting as a blank slate." Pixal realized.
"So my purpose was controlled by someone else?" Axel frowned.
"It was, but the thing about nindroids is you can always rebuild yourself." I smiled.
"We can?" He questioned.
"Yes, and now that you're not under his control anymore, you can be anything you want to be." Pixal told him.
"How do I make sure he doesn't find me again?" Axel asked.
"We can have Borg download the firewall that we all have to keep the overlord out of our systems." I suggested.
"But I don't even know where to start." He frowned. "Where do I go? What do I do?"
"Well if it's alright with Alex, you can stay here with us." I said looking at my son.
I knew the trauma that Alex had gone through lately and having Axel around, even if he's not evil anymore, might make it worse. He had a lot to process after all that's happened.
"I don't know." Alex frowned.
"Whatever I did to you I'm sorry." Axel faced Alex. "I don't remember anything about what happened and I had no control over myself. I should probably just leave, it's not like you would ever trust me again."
Axel frowned and started to walk out the door, but Alex ran up to him and stopped him.
"Wait!" Alex said. "Fine, you can stay but your not staying in my room."
"Ok." He agreed. "Thank you."
"Yeah whatever." Alex rolled his eyes and walked out the room.
"Come on Axel, I'll take you to Borg Tower and get that firewall installed. The sooner the better." Pixal said walking him outside.
"I'll go talk to Alex." Cass said going to follow him.
I knew this was going to be hard on him, but I think he did the right thing in the end and I'm proud of him for that. I just hope Axel was telling the truth, because if he wasn't, we were all in trouble.
Skylor's P.O.V.:
Kai and I were just finishing cleaning the shop. Zach was supposed to do it, but he had an emergency and had to leave early so we were stuck doing it ourselves. I was mopping the floor and Kai had just finished the dishes.
"Hey Sky, you ready to go?" Kai asked.
"Yeah I guess." I sighed and put my mop back in the bucket.
"Ok what's wrong? You've been off all day." Kai said. "Is this about Amber and Allison?"
"Of course not, I'm really happy for them, but now that she's dating it made me realize how long I've been here." I sighed and sat down in a booth. "It's just that all my life I've been running this restaurant because I thought I didn't have a choice, but I've always wondered if I had gotten the chance to try something else that I could've done something great."
"Well what would you do?" Kai sat across from me.
"I have no idea but even if I could, how could I leave this place?" I frowned.
"What brought this on?" Kai asked.
"Well, this morning a guy walked in and offered a large sum of money to buy this place, and I know I've turned down offers before, but this time I was actually considering it."
"Well, if this is something you want to do, I'll support you, but are you sure you want sell this place?" Kai asked.
"Well the guy promised me that they would keep everything the same for this place, just expand to other areas in Ninjago. So it's not like anyone would loose their jobs."
"Well what do you want to do?" He asked.
"I never really thought about doing anything else but running this place for the rest of my life, but if I wasn't tied down it I could do all kinds of things." I said. "I would be able to be home with the kids more and I could go back to school."
"Well, whatever you decide, I'll support you one hundred percent." Kai smiled.
"Thank you." I smiled with relief.
I took a second to think. Sure I would miss running the restaurant, but giving it up would open up a lot of new opportunities that I've been too busy to try before. I know my father was evil Anacondrai fanboy, but he always wanted me to try new things. He's the one who built this place and it's always been in the Chen family. The idea of selling it to a stranger was nerve racking, but also kind of relieving at the same time.
"So have you made up your mind?" Kai asked.
"Yes." I held his hand. "This place will always be like a second home to me, but I think it's time for me to move on."
"So you're selling the place?"
I nodded and Kai hugged me. He was really supportive of my decision. I was gonna miss this place, but it was time to give something else a try.
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
My parents and I were driving home from the mall. We had spent all day looking for a present for Kira, and after a lot of searching, we finally found the perfect thing for her. It was a locket that looked like one her grandmother had. I had only seen it in old photos of her that Kira had shown me before, and the minute I saw this I knew it was perfect. The best part was I got to spend the whole day with my dad and my mom. I don't think that's ever happened before, or at least not since I can remember.
We walked into the monastery to see my son on the couch playing a video game and Ashley was at the table with crayons and a coloring book.
"Hi Dad." Ryder said not looking away from his game.
"Hey bud, where's your mom?" I asked.
"Oh, she wasn't feeling well so she went to take a nap." He told me.
I wasn't surprised Kira wasn't feeling well, she got sick a few days ago, but I thought she'd be over that by now. Maybe there was something she wasn't telling me.
Out of curiosity I went to check on Kira to see if she was ok. I walked in and the bed was empty and the bathroom door was closed. I knocked on it.
"Lloyd? Is that you?" Kira's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Yeah it's me." I answered. "Are you ok? Ryder said you were sick."
"Uh... sort of." She said.
"What do you mean? Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine I just um... had a little morning sickness that's all."
"This has been happening the last few days, are you sure it's not something more serious?"
"I'll know in about 30 seconds." She said.
"What?"
I was confused by what she meant. 30 seconds later she opened the door, holding something behind her back. It was hard to tell if she was nervous or excited, but I had a feeling she had something to tell me.
"What? What is it?" I asked.
She got this big nervous smile on her face and showed me the pregnancy test behind her back. It was positive.
"Oh boy." My eyes widened.
Here we go again.
