Homecoming

Kai's P.O.V.:

Lloyd and Ryder arrived at the ruins of the burned down bank. I was already there with Blake, but I could tell he was a little uneasy about being here.

"Ok Kai, we're here." Lloyd said. "What was so important it couldn't wait till later?"

"Well hello to you too." I teased.

"Sorry, I'm not having the best week." He sighed.

"Troublesome teenagers? I know how that is." I laughed.

"Dad, why am I here again?" Ryder asked Lloyd, obviously annoyed.

"Because I need to keep an eye on you and make sure you don't run away again." Lloyd told him.

"How am I supposed to get you to trust me if you're watching me all the time?" Ryder grew frustrated.

"You're smart, figure it out." He crossed his arms.

Ryder and Lloyd usually don't bicker with each other like that. I knew that Ryder had gotten into some trouble lately, but I've never seen Lloyd get like this, especially to his kids.

"Blake, why don't you go show Ryder what we found?" I told my son.

"Alright Dad." He agreed. "Come on Ryder."

"Ok just be careful." Lloyd told Ryder.

"Whatever Dad." Ryder rolled his eyes and followed Blake inside.

Lloyd took a deep breath and frowned.

"You look stressed." I said.

"Is it that obvious?" He sighed.

"Ryder's a growing boy, you just have to give him time."

"Why didn't anybody tell me raising a teenager would be this hard?"

"Because if they did, nobody would ever have children." I joked.

"I just don't want Ryder to get hurt anymore." Lloyd sighed. "You don't know what it's like to wait in that waiting not knowing if your child is going to survive."

"Actually I know exactly what that's like." I frowned.

The day Trent was born he had some breathing problems and for hours Skylor and I didn't know if he would pull through. He only had a thirty percent chance of surviving that, but thankfully he did. We even named him after the doctor who saved his life.

"Oh sorry, I forgot about that." Lloyd said.

"It's ok, it all turned out fine that's what's important." I said.

"Dad, Uncle Lloyd, look at this!" Blake screamed out to us.

We ran over to him to see what was going on.

"Blake what is it?" I asked.

"You see these slash marks?" Blake pointed to the deep scratches in the ruined metal door that used to be attached to the volt.

"Where have I seen those before?" Lloyd wondered.

"The better question is what kind of weapon does that amount of damage to metal?" Blake asked.

"You didn't say she had a weapon." Lloyd looked at Ryder.

"It's all still a little fuzzy to me, but as far as I know she didn't." Ryder said.

"I don't remember her having one either, but what if she wasn't the only one here." Blake said.

"What do you mean Blake?" I asked.

"I mean that the vault was
mostly empty of the cash when Ryder and I got here, and she wouldn't have enough time to empty it all by herself." Blake observed. "Unless she had all the time in the world."

"If we're right, we think she's a descendant of one of the masters of time." I told Lloyd.

"Really?" Lloyd was shocked.

"It's the only thing that makes any sense." I said. "The boys said that the customers were frozen in time when they got here."

"Wait, Ryder ran into Harumi's niece. That's who saved his life." He said.

"Harumi's what now?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Dad I said I was sorry, I don't know what else you want me to do." Ryder yelled.

"It's one thing to run away once, but then you just go on and do it again." Lloyd yelled.

They kept yelling back and forth and couldn't stop fighting with each other and I was trying to comprehend how it was possible for Harumi to have a niece. It didn't make any sense to me.

"I'm glad we don't fight like that." Blake said to me.

I looked at Lloyd and the biggest frown appeared on his face. I could tell he was upset.

"Hey Blake, why don't you go show Ryder the camera we found?" I said.

Blake agreed and left with Ryder to the other side of the place.

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

"Lloyd are you ok?" Kai asked. "I've never seen you fight with Ryder like this."

"I don't want to fight with him. I don't want to fight him at all." I freaked. "I feel it getting closer and closer everyday."

"You still have that nightmare don't you?" Kai realized.

"It's not a nightmare, it's a vision I'm sure of it." I frowned. "It happens almost every other night and I'm scared that one day I won't be able to wake up."

"Does he know?"

"The last time he had it was when he was five right after Kira came back, but I doubt he remembers any of that now."

"Are you going to tell him?" Kai asked.

"No, I don't want anyone to know about this, especially Kira and the kids. I don't want them to worry about the day I... I..."

"I know." Kai put a hand on my shoulder. "I won't tell them, but I think you should."

"Why?"

"Think about it, what if no one ever warned you that you had to fight your father? You wouldn't have been ready." He told me. "He would've hurt you, or worse. I don't think you want that to happen to Ryder."

"No! It won't happen, I won't let it!"

The world around me started spinning and I lost my balance and knelt on the ground to keep myself falling over. I closed my eyes, screamed and put my hands on my head. I started breathing heavily.

"Lloyd?" Kai called out to me, but I couldn't even look at him. "Lloyd? Are you ok? Lloyd?"

'I have no son. I have no son.'

The words kept echoing in my head. Except this time it wasn't my father saying it to me, it was me saying it to Ryder. I couldn't do that to him and all this fighting we've been doing lately isn't helping at all.

My heart started beating faster and faster and I couldn't think straight. The next thing I knew I blacked out...

...

"Lloyd?"

I slowly opened my eyes and shut them again. I was still dizzy.

"Lloyd wake up, come on buddy." I heard the voice again.

I opened my eyes once more and saw Kai in front of me. I set up and held my head as it was pounding.

"Wh... What happened?" I asked him.

"You just started panicking about something and you passed out." Kai explained. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah but... Wait, where's Ryder?" I asked, noticing him and Blake were nowhere around.

"I told Ryder that you were talking to your father again." He said. "It was getting dark so I called Skylor to pick them up and take them to our house for a little while."

"Thank you, I don't want him to be worried about me. Oh but tell Skylor to keep an eye on him, he's supposed to be grounded and he's been known to run away."

"I wouldn't worry about that." Kai laughed. "Now come on, I'm taking you to the hospital."

"Wait, why?"

"Lloyd you just passed out from a panic attack."

"I'm fine Kai, I was just exhausted from the lack of sleep lately."

Kai offered me his hand and helped me up. I was still dizzy and had to lean on him for balance.

"Whoa buddy take it easy." Kai said helping sit on a bench. "Are you sure you're ok?"

"I told you I'm fine."

"Did your father or Wu say anything when you were out?" He asked.

"Now that you mention it, I didn't see them at all. It sure feels like it though."

I held my head which was still pounding like it usually does after they talk to me in the dreamscape. The feeling would usually go away by now, but for some reason my migraines had been getting worse and lasting longer lately. I hadn't told Kira about it, but she had her suspicions. It's very hard to keep anything from her.

All of a sudden, it hit me. My father had told me before that something would happen as soon as they crossed over to the realm. So if I had the feeling that I was talking to them when I wasn't, that must mean their back!

"Are you sure you're ok?" Kai asked.

"Kai, their back! My dad and Master Wu their back!" I smiled.

"What?" He was shocked. "Are you sure? How can you tell?"

"Because when I pass out like that I always talk to them, but this time I couldn't feel them. That means either there not in the realm anymore or something happened to them." I explained. "We have to find them and make sure they're alright."

I stood up and tried to form my dragon, but my head was still pounding and I didn't have the energy to spark it up. Kai grabbed my arm and stopped me.

"Oh no, you are not doing the flying." He said before he formed his own dragon. "I'll give you a ride to the cliffs outside Jamanikai Village. If they're back, then they'll probably be there."

"Thank you." I said as he helped me onto his dragon. "Oh wait, what about the boys?"

"It won't take us long, I'm sure Skylor can handle it." Kai assured me. "I better call her real quick so she won't be too mad at me."

"I better text Kira too and let her know we'll be home late." I said taking out my phone.

————{{{Lloyd's Phone}}}————

Lloyd: Hey Kira we might
be home a little late.

Kira: A little late? You've
been gone for hours already.
Are you and Ryder ok?

L: We're fine, my father and

K: Lloyd, please
don't lie to me.

L: I just have a little
migraine, it'll go away
soon.

K: Ok I'll go pick up Ryder
and have Kai take you home.
I don't want you forming your
dragon like that.

L: Ok I will. Thanks.

K: Just be careful ok.

L: I promise, I love you.

K: Love you too. 😘

I put my phone away and told Kai that Kira would be picking Ryder up. He told Skylor and we went on our way to get my father and Wu.

When we got there, I saw something amazing. My father was no longer the four armed creature that everyone feared, he was back. Back to the way he looked before I was born. His human self. I couldn't believe it.

My father and Master Wu were standing right there leaning on each other for balance. Exiting the realm must have taken a lot out of them. We both jumped off the dragon and ran to help them up.

"Dad!" I screamed and gave him the biggest hug. "You're back! I can't believe you're actually back!"

"It's good to see you too son." He smiled at me.

"Good to have you back too Wu." Kai said to him.

"Yes." Wu said. "My brother has once again seen the light."

"So where's my new little granddaughter?" Dad asked. I remembered that he hadn't even met Ashley yet.

"Ashley's at home with Mom and Kira." I told him. "I can't wait for you to meet her."

"Me neither." My Dad smiled.

"Sorry for not telling you Lloyd." Wu apologized. "We honestly did not expect to be back so soon."

"That's ok, I'm just so excited to have you back." I hugged my father. It felt so nice to see him back to his old self. "Will you and Wu need a place to stay? We have plenty of room in the monastery."

"Thank you son, but I don't think your mother would approve." He said. "Besides, Wu and I will be getting our own place near the city."

"So wait, how did you become... normal again?" Kai asked my father.

"It wasn't easy." He sighed. "It required getting rid of my powers."

"You gave up your powers?" I questioned.

"I no longer needed them son." Dad said. "I had a choice to make, and I would choose my family over my powers any day."

"Thanks Dad." I smiled. "That means a lot."

"Not to break up the family reunion, but Cole just texted me that he needs to talk to everyone, right now." Kai said looking up from his phone.

"Oh no, what did he do now?" I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know, but he said it was important." Kai said. "I'll tell Skylor and Kira to bring the kids and meet us there."

"You guys go on ahead." My Uncle said. "My brother and I have some catching up to do."

"Of course, we'll catch up later." I gave my dad one last hug. "Bye Dad."

"See you later son." He smiled.

I tried to form my dragon, but my head was still pounding and I couldn't do it.

"Lloyd? What's wrong?" My father asked.

"It's nothing, when you reentered Ninjago it gave me a migraine. No big deal." I said.

"Come on buddy, I'll give you a ride." Kai offered.

Garmadon's P.O.V.:

Kai formed his elemental dragon and Lloyd jumped on. They flew off in the other direction.

Wu and I started walking to his old apartment in Ninjago City. It wasn't that far of a walk from here. I was glad to be back so I could get to be with my son, but I was also worried that what I did in the realm of madness would effect Lloyd, and not in a good way.

"You seem nervous brother." Wu noticed. "Tell me, what troubles you?"

"I know I had gotten rid of my elemental power, but I'm worried." I told him. "My powers don't just go away, they have to be transferred to someone else."

"Unfortunately this is true." Wu sighed. "But without darkness, there could never be light. One cannot exists without the other."

"I am well aware of the balance brother, but I did what I had to do. I would rather fight on the side of good where I will no longer be a danger to my family. The only thing is I can't help but wonder if I made the right decision."

"You did it to keep your family safe. If you were to come back with your powers, they would have corrupted you."

"I know, but now, while not likely, there is a chance that Lloyd might..."

"Relax brother, the chances of that happening are very low." Wu reminded me. "Just be happy to have him back in your life."

I smiled. "You're right, maybe I am worrying too much."
