Framed

Zane's P.O.V.:

I was on my computer doing some research when my son Alex came into the room with a worried look on his face.

"What's wrong Alex?" I asked him.

"Something strange is going on." He frowned.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"On the news it says I infiltrated Grandpa's tower and stole information, but I do not recall doing so." He explained. "This is really strange."

"You would never do that." I told him. "Here show me."

I followed Alex into the living room and set down with him on the couch. He hit play on the remote and we watched the news report. They said that it came from somewhere inside and stole some information from Borg's secret files. I knew for a fact that Alex would never do that. Plus he already knows most of secrets in Borg industries anyway because he was built there, so if he did do it, it would be pointless unless he stole for another person.

"Pixal, you might wanna come see this." I called to her.

"Ok." Pixal appeared and set down next to Alex and I on the couch.

We looked at the TV where Gayle Gossip was interviewing Cyrus Borg in front of Borg Tower...

"I'm Gayle Gossip from NGTV News here with Cyrus Borg, owner of Borg industries." She held the microphone up to Borg. "Mr. Borg, what can you tell us about the incident?"

"It came out of nowhere." He started. "Most of my security drones weren't able to stop him. The weirdest part was that some of them were left frozen in ice."

I looked at Alex and he looked just as confused as I was. Pixal had her eyes glued to the TV. We kept watching...

"Mr. Borg, do you have any leads on who would be after this kind of information?" Gayle asked him.

"No one that I can think of." Borg answered. "All I know is it was definitely an inside job and this person is definitely experienced in covering their tracks. They erased all the evidence of the crime, they even managed to change the security footage to make themselves look like my grandson."

"Well you heard it here first folks, there is a thief on the loose." Gayle said into the camera. "Next on NGTV News, an update on the junior green ninja's condition after saving another junior ninja's life. We'll have that story for you after these messages."

We had already heard about what happened to Ryder from Lloyd, I was just happy he was gonna be alright. Alex was especially worried about his best friend when he first found out about it, but Lloyd told us he was going to recover.

"I have to call my father." Pixal said taking out her phone.

"I did not do that." Alex screamed.

"Alex it's ok, we know you didn't." I gave him a hug. "We will get to the bottom of this. I promise."

"Thanks Dad." He smiled.

"Perhaps we should visit Borg's to see if we can find the one who framed you." I suggested.

"Way ahead of you Father." Alex said.

Pixal came back into the room and she seemed worried.

"How's Grandpa?" Alex said.

"He said he's ok, but the only information that was stolen all related to when Alex was built there." Pixal said to me.

"Why would they be after that?" I wondered.

"I don't know, but my father said it must've been an inside job." Pixal said. "Do not worry Alex, he knows you are not responsible for this."

"I don't know, I can't remember what I did the other day." He held his head.

"What do you mean son?" I asked. "You were here with us all night, do you not remember?"

"Oh yes that is right, I was here all day." Alex suddenly remembered.

"Alex, you don't sound like yourself." I grew suspicious. "Is everything alright?"

He nodded, but I did not believe him. I was about to scan him when there was a knock at the door. Pixal opened it and it was the police commissioner with about six other officers. The commissioner was holding a vingestone ankle bracelet in his hand. I was worried that they were here for Alex.

"Excuse me, what is the meaning of this?" Pixal asked annoyed.

"Ma'am we have an order to arrest Alex Julien for braking and entering into Borg Industries." The commissioner explained. "But since he's legally eight years old, the most we can do is put him on house arrest."

"Alex was here all night with us." I defended him. "There is no possible way he broke into Borg's last night."

"Where did you get the orders to arrest him?" Pixal asked.

"From Borg himself." The officer answered.

I did not believe him and I could tell Pixal and Alex did not either. There was something definitely wrong about this. Borg would never go tell the cops to arrest Alex, and plus he just said on TV that he knew it was someone in a disguise.

"Why would he do that?" Alex frowned.

"He wouldn't." Pixal said. "I just talked to him and he said he did not blame Alex for what happened. The thief was obviously in disguise."

"You should be focused on chasing the real thief!" I yelled.

"We'll talk to Borg in person tomorrow and see if we can clear all of this up." The officer told us. "In the meantime I would lay low until then. I don't want people getting suspicious."

"Yes sir. Thank you." I told him.

The officer left and I shut the door. Alex looked extremely upset now, but it was more of a guilty look than it was angry or sad. I was concerned about him, and honestly a bit confused. Alex has never done anything bad in his life, so I wanted to give him a chance to explain himself first.

"Is there something you wanna tell us?" I asked my son.

"Well I... have a confession to make." Alex sighed. "That was a holographic projection you saw last night, I was somewhere else but I can't tell you where."

"Son, did you break into Borg's?" I asked, hoping I was wrong.

"No I would never do that, but if I tell you where I really was you are going to be mad at me." He frowned.

"Alex, this evidence could save you from being arrested." Pixal said. "Wherever you were you need to tell us."

"Ok." Alex sighed. "Yesterday I was... on a date."

"A date?" I questioned. "A date with whom?"

"I... I cannot tell you." He stuttered.

"Well why not?" Pixal questioned.

"It was not anything bad I promise I just went to see a... a girl." He looked away from us.

"A girl?" Pixal questioned.

Alex wouldn't face us at all and I could tell he was really upset. I didn't want our questioning to turn into an interrogation, but it was slowly starting to become one.

"Alex, we promise we won't be mad, we just need to know what you were doing last night so you do not get in trouble with the police." I told him calmly.

"It is not them I am worried about." He frowned.

"You need to tell us what happened son." Pixal said. "We won't be mad."

"Promise?" He looked at Pixal.

"Promise." Pixal smiled.

"Ok." He finally gave in. "I will show you what happened, but you have to promise me that you will let me see her again."

"See who?" I asked.

"Well, you'll see." He sighed.

Alex's P.O.V.:

I plugged myself into the lab computer and played my memories from yesterday on the screen. I just hoped my parents would not be too mad at me.

>>>>>>>•••<<<<<<<

I was seen on the camera and saw the world through my eyes. I made a hologram of myself and sent it into the living room. Then I snuck out of my bedroom window and walked through the city to a small alleyway. I pulled out a picnic basket and blanket and set it up.

I saw my girlfriend Cass run up to me. She set down next to me and joined me for the picnic. Unfortunately it recorded our conversation over lunch.

"I am sorry I am so late, it is difficult to keep sneaking out like this." Cass apologized.

"It is alright Cass. I am sorry we have to keep meeting in places like this." I said looking at the dumpster next to us. "On the bright side at least I get to see you again."

"I am happy to see you too." She smiled. "Maybe one day we won't have to meet in secret anymore, but I fear that day will not come soon."

"If they do not approve of our relationship, just know that I love you." I grabbed her hand.

"I love you too." She smiled.

We finished our meals and I walked her close enough to her place at Reynolds Tech. She blew me a kiss and went inside.

>>>>>>>•••<<<<<<<

I stopped the video and turned to my parents. I could tell they were both shocked, yet relieved that I wasn't the one who broke into Borg industries.

"Well, now you know." I said frowning.

I felt so bad. I promised Cass I would never tell anyone about our relationship, especially my parents. She was the nindroid daughter of Peter Reynolds, founder of Reynolds Tech, which was a company built to rival Borg industries. And me being the grandson of Cyrus Borg, I knew they would never approve of us being a couple. Usually I would never disobey my parents or do anything to upset them, but Cass and I were just so perfect together that I could not stay away. I knew it was wrong, but it felt so right.

I looked at my parents and waited for them to yell at me or say they were disappointed in me or punish me, but they did not do anything. They just stood there.

"See, I knew you wouldn't approve of me and Cass being a couple!" I frowned. "Now I guess I can't see her anymore, can I?"

My parents looked at each other. I don't think they knew what to do.

"Well first things first, we need to show this to the police and clear your name." Mom finally spoke up, ignoring my question.

"Yes good idea." Dad agreed.

"So am I in trouble?" I frowned.

"We'll worry about that later ok? Right now I'm just happy we have proof that you're innocent." Dad hugged me.

I should have been satisfied with that, but I just wanted to know if I was allowed to see Cass again. I said a reluctant ok to my father before running into my room.

Zane's P.O.V.:

Pixal absolutely hated Reynolds Tech so I understand why Alex did not want to tell us. It was a technology company built to rival Borg Industries that popped up a few years ago. Pixal says that they copied and sold knockoffs of Borg's inventions for a higher profit. It almost put him out of business and since then the whole family has been forbidden to be affiliated with anything that had to do with their company. Personally I did not care where Alex was as long as he was safe and staying out of trouble. Plus since he was not at Borg's last night, that means he was not the criminal and would not be arrested.

I sent a copy of Alex's memory to the police station and they told me that they would get back to me in a few hours. There was still one more thing that we had to deal with.

"So what do we do about Alex?" I asked my wife.

"I do not know. He's never done anything bad before in his life." Pixal shrugged.

"I don't want to tell him he can't see that girl anymore, but how do you feel about all this?"

"I just can't believe that he was seeing her behind our backs." Pixal frowned.

"I agree he should have told us about it, but he didn't really do anything wrong, did he?"

"I guess not." She sighed in frustration. "I do not blame Alex for falling in love, but I just have this bad feeling that the people at Reynolds Tech put him up to this."

"Put him up to what exactly?" I questioned.

"Think about it, if it was not Alex that caused the break in, then who was it and why were all of his security droids frozen in ice?" She pondered. "It just doesn't make any sense."

"Are you sure those are her intentions?"

"Well it happened to Lloyd with Harumi." Pixal reminded me. "I'm just saying it is possibility. I just wanna keep our little boy safe."

"Let the police handle that, for right now let's just be glad that Alex isn't getting arrested." I insisted.

"I guess." She sighed.

Later that night I peered into Alex's bedroom and he was on the phone with someone.

"Look I'm sorry, but I had to tell them where I was last night or else I would be put on house arrest." He said into the phone. "I know I messed up but I really want to make this work." ... "I want to be with you too." ... "Alright, I will see what I can do." ... "I love you too." ... "Goodbye."

He hung up the phone, let out a big sigh and laid face down in his pillow. I could not bare to see my son that upset.

"Alex?" I walked into his room.

"What do you want?" He frowned.

"I just wanna talk." I sat down next to him on the bed. "What's going on?"

"If I continue to see Cass, I will disappoint you and Mom, and if I stop, I will disappoint her." He frowned and set up. "I just do not want to disappoint anyone."

"You could never disappoint us son." I hugged him.

"Yeah but I have been lying to you." He frowned. "I feel really bad about it."

"You really like this girl ha?"

"Yes I do, I am sorry but I really do." He sighed. "But we can never be together, we are from two different worlds, or in this case creators. I guess it just was not meant to be."

For the first time since he was assembled, I saw a tear drip down his face. I did not know he was capable of such an emotion until that moment. I knew that whatever we did, it would do no good. Alex was in love, and who am I to stand in the way of that?

"Look I'll make you a deal." I bargained. "Promise to stop lying to us and sneaking out?"

"Yes Father." He nodded.

"And you promise to tell me when and where you are going to see her and that you will be back by curfew every time?"

"Yes sir, I promise." He agreed quickly.

"And that Cass's parents will know about you two soon as well?" I added.

"That's a hard one to promise." He frowned.

"Well son it's not fair to her or to her father to keep her sneaking out like that, especially if I approved of it." I told him.

"I guess that's a good point." Alex sighed. "Fine, I will get her to tell her parents."

"Ok then, I guess as long as we're on the same page then I guess it's ok for you to see her again." I smiled.

"Are you sure Mom would be ok with that?" He asked. "She really doesn't like them."

"Let me talk to her. I'm sure I can get her on board." I smiled.

"R-really?" He perked up. "You are going to let me see her again?"

"If she makes you happy, then we should be happy for you." I smiled.

"Thank you father." He smiled and hugged me.

"Of course son." I hugged him back.

I knew that Pixal would be mad at me for making this decision without her, but I just could not stand to see my boy so upset. He deserves to be happy and I have never seen him talk about anyone like that before.

I went back into the living room and Pixal was on the phone.

"Thank you officer." Pixal said before she hung up.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"The police station." Pixal said. "They said because they had solid evidence of Alex's alibi, he's been cleared of all charges."

"That is wonderful news." I smiled.

"Yes, but now we have to do something about Alex and that girl." She said.

"Are you sure we have to do something about that?" I asked. "I mean he didn't do anything wrong and there's no reason the kids need to get caught up in the rivalry too."

"Well I guess you are right, but he was sneaking out of the house for who knows how long. Do you not think he needs a little punishment?"

"I think he has leaned his lesson." I said.

"Oh so you told him that he wasn't allowed to see her anymore?" She assumed.

"Well... I uh..."

"Thanks Zane, it probably went better coming from you." She said.

"Actually Pixal I..."

"Well I need to recharge, goodnight Zane."

She kissed me on the cheek and walked into the bedroom before I could tell her. This whole situation must have been raising her anxiety levels or something.

To make things worse, suddenly Alex jumped in front of me.

"Oh, Alex you startled me." I said.

"Sorry Dad. Did you talk to Mom yet?" He asked me very excitedly.

"Well I..."

"She said no, didn't she." Alex frowned.

"Well she didn't say that."

"So she said yes?" His face lit up.

'Don't do it Zane. Don't lie to your own son.' I told myself in my mind, but I didn't listen to it. "She said you can see Cass again, but she's not too thrilled about it yet. I'm sure she'll come around eventually, but just try not to talk about it around her for now. Ok?"

"Yes!" He exclaimed and gave me the biggest hug ever. "Thank you Father!"

"You are welcome." I put on a fake smile. "Now you better get to bed."

"Ok. Thanks again Dad."

He hugged me again, we said our good nights and he went into his bedroom. I could not go into sleep mode the whole night because the guilt was getting to me. Keeping secrets from Pixal, lying to my son, I just felt so bad. It was the only way I could keep everyone happy, even if it meant that I was not.

I had to ask for advice about this, so I called Nya.

"Hello?" She answered the phone, she sounded like she had just woken up.

"Nya, sorry to wake you at this hour but I need some advice." I told her.

"Zane, it's three in the morning." Nya yawned. "Is this an emergency?"

"Well not exactly, more of, what you like to call a love emergency." I said.

"Talk to me." Nya said, suddenly sounding much more awake.

"Well I did something kinda bad."

"What happened?" She asked.

I told her the whole situation. It had been at least an hour when I was done telling her everything.

"And now I feel so guilty and I don't know what to do." I finished.

"Well the truth has to come out sometime." Nya said.

"I know but Pixal hates them." I frowned. "I feel like if I tell her that I made this decision without her she will be mad at me. And if I tell Alex I didn't tell her that might land him in more trouble."

"Look just be honest with them. If Pixal loves Alex than she'll be happy for him."

"You really think so?"

"I know so." She said. "Now I gotta go, we're all going camping with Cole, Seliel and Allison in the morning."

"Ok thanks Nya, I knew I could count on you." I smiled.

I hung up the phone, went to my room and put myself in sleep mode. I just hope Nya's advice would work.

The next morning...

I went to the kitchen and saw Alex and Pixal at the table. It did not look like they were talking to each other. I had to fix everything.

"Good morning." I said to both of them.

"Morning Dad." Alex said.

"Morning Zane." Pixal said.

"Alex why don't see what's on TV this morning?" I said.

"Ok Dad." He said leaving the room.

"Pixal there's something that I wanted to talk to you about." I frowned.

"You told Alex he could see Cass again?" She crossed her arms.

"Ok yes, but... wait how did you...?"

"I heard you on the phone with Nya last night." She said.

"I'm sorry, but you should have heard the way he talked about her." I said. "She makes him so happy and I could not bare to see him so upset."

"It's ok." She smiled to my surprise.

"What?"

"Yeah, I have been thinking about you said and you were right. The kids should not have to be involved with this silly rivalry."

"So, you are ok with this?" I asked.

"As long as he's not going to sneak out anymore and she makes him happy, then I can be happy for him." She smiled.

"I'm happy to hear that." I smiled. "So what can I do to get you to forgive me?"

"I already have." She smiled and kissed me on the cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too." I smiled. "I promise I'll never keep any secrets from you again."

After that everything was fine. Alex continued to see Cass at least once a week and we even invited her over to meet her. She was really nice and she and Pixal really hit it off. I was happy that they didn't have to hide from us anymore, and I think that made them happy too.

However there was still one thing I didn't understand. Who broke into Borg Industries?
