Matt's P.O.V.:

I had all my bags packed and waiting for my uncle to come and pick me up. I honestly didn't want to go. I liked it here and I loved living with the Walkers. I know they weren't my real family but they always made me feel like I was theirs. I had been thinking about how to say goodbye all night long but I still can't find the words. How can I leave a family that gave me everything when I had nothing?

Even though I was gonna miss them so much, I was trying my best to stay positive. Maybe they were right, maybe my uncle did know about my parents and had stories to tell me. And if I asked he would probably let me visit the Walkers on occasion so I would get to finish the vehicle I've been working on. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

"Matt, he's here." Mr. Walker called me from downstairs.

I took a deep breath and carried my suitcase downstairs. My uncle was standing there at the door.

"Hey Mathew, are you ready to go home?" My uncle smiled at me.

"I guess." I sighed.

"Mom, does Matt have to go?" Lily looked at Nya.

"Yeah, why can't he stay?" Jax frowned.

"Kids, we talked about this." Nya told them. "Matt needs to be with his real family."

"But you'll come back and visit won't you?" Lily asked me.

"Oh sure he can come by any time he wants." My uncle said. "Thank you for making him feel at home here."

"Of course, it was our pleasure." Jay nodded.

"Well, I guess this is good bye." I turned to them. "I don't even know what to say. Thank you for taking care of me."

"We were happy to." Nya smiled.

The whole family gave me a great big hug, and even Bolt gave me a big lick goodbye. Afterwards, it was time to leave. He took me to his truck in the driveway and he started driving to his house.

"So um... I guess you're my uncle then?" I looked at him.

"Yeah, your father was my brother." He said driving. "I honestly thought I lost all of you but I tracked you down on social media once the Walkers adopted you."

"So what was the deal with that lawyer guy?"

"Oh he's an old friend, he was just there to make sure I was doing everything right before I took you to my place." He explained.

"So you're not gonna kidnap me?" I asked.

"Kidnap you? Of course not." He laughed. "Honestly I was just so excited that someone in my family was still around and I couldn't stand the thought of never meeting you."

"So I bet you have a lot of stories about my parents when they were growing up."

"That I do. In fact your mother left me a copy of a scrapbook she made about the whole family."

"Really? Can I see it?" I asked.

"Sure. I'll show it to you when we get to my place." He said. "Maybe we can order a pizza later."

"Sure, that sounds fun." I smiled.

Maybe I was overreacting a little. Sure I might not be living with the Walkers anymore, but it wasn't like I was never going to see them again. Like he said, I could visit whenever I wanted. Plus it sounds like the guy knew a lot of stuff about my family. I could finally get answers for questions I've had for so long.

He parked the car and I followed him up to his apartment in the city. It was a small studio apartment and it looked like he was the only one who had been living here for a while.

"Welcome to my home." He laughed.

"It's very... cozy." I said, trying to be nice.

"I know it's not much, but my other house is being renovated so I've been living here for the last six months."

"Six months?"

"Yeah, it's a big job." He said. "Hey what do say we order that pizza?" I asked.

"Oh uh, sure." I agreed.

He took out his phone and called the pizza place. I thought it was a little strange that he would take me in when he lived in a place like this. There was barely enough room for one person to stay here, let alone two. I started to miss the Walker's house even more, but my uncle was really nice and I was gonna have to make this work.

The rest of the night went pretty well. We ate pizza, looked at the scrapbook, and he told me all kinds of stories about my parents. It was cool to meet someone who actually knew them.

When it was time for bed, he folded out the sofa bed and pulled a cot out of the closet and set it up in the corner. It wasn't the best set up, but like he said it was only temporary. So far, it didn't seem so bad.

Zane's P.O.V.:

I was with Cyrus Borg, Dr. Reynolds, and Pixal at Borg tower. Working together, they may have found a way to fix Alex. If this works, we'll have Alex back in his body.

"So do you really think this will work?" Pixal asked her father.

"Well I was so close to solving a sequencing code to speed up his auto-repair before, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out the last part of it." Borg explained.

"And that's the only part I could figure out." Mr. Reynolds said.

"So if we put both of our codes together, we were able to create an update that's able to increase his auto-repair system enough to theoretically restore Alex's power source." Borg finished.

"Theoretically?" I questioned.

"Well we haven't tested it yet, but it takes up so much data that we only have one shot at it." Borg said.

"The only thing is, in order for it to work, Alex's coding must be present in his exoskeleton." Reynolds explained.

"How long will the download take?" I asked.

"An hour, two tops." Borg said. "He has learned to jump technology right?"

"Yes, but I'm not sure he can last that long without Cass's systems sustaining him." I answered. "In the condition his body was left in, I'm not sure he can take it at all."

"I can charge it the way Pixal used to before you gave her half your heart." Borg explained.

"This sounds pretty risky, but at this point we don't have any other choice." I told Pixal.

"We should let Alex decide what he wants to do." I said and Pixal nodded.

Later, Cass arrived with Alex and we explained the process and how it worked. We told him about the risks of the update as well.

"The choice is up to you Alex." I said.

Alex jumped into a nearby computer and had the biggest smile on his face.

"Let's do it!" He nodded.

"Alex, if you don't make it out of this, just know that the past few months have been some of the best months of my life." Cass put her hand on the screen. "Whatever happens, I love you."

"I love you too Cass." Alex smiled and they shared a kiss through the screen. "Hopefully next time we kiss, I'll be able to do it in person."

"That's enough you two lovebirds." Pixal said laughing. "Are you ready Alex?"

"Ready Mom." Alex smiled.

Borg hooked Alex's exoskeleton up to the main computer and Alex jumped into his own body. Borg immediately began the download and from that point, all we could do was wait.

After a while, an hour had passed and there was no change in Alex's movements, yet slowly but surely the update seemed to be working. His code had jumped into the exoskeleton, but because it had no way to be powered he wasn't able to move at all. The only signs we had were the updates on the computer and the thermal scanners that let us see the process on Alex's heart repairs. It was about 50% downloaded and from what we could see, everything was going smoothly. Alex's power source was slowly repairing itself and that's exactly what we wanted.

We were all waiting when suddenly, we heard the alarm go off in the building. We all started freaking out and looked at each other.

"What's happening?" Cass asked.

"Someone is breaking in through the factory entrance." Borg checked his security cameras. "Looks like our old friend Axel is here to finish what he started."

"Oh no." Pixal frowned.

"But Alex's update isn't done yet. Stopping it now could cause permanent damage to his operating systems." I said.

"I'll send my security droids to slow him down." Borg told us.

"That won't work. Axel is too strong." Cass said using her powers. "I'll take care of him."

"You can't go out there alone." Dr. Reynolds told her.

"She won't be. I'll go with her." I said.

"Be careful." Pixal kissed my cheek.

"I will." I nodded.

Cass and I ran to the factory where Axel was and we used our elemental powers to do everything we could to slow him down. We tried throwing ice beams at him, freezing him, and covering the floor to make him slip but nothing worked. It didn't even slow him down. Borg even sent his security droids but those didn't do much. Now he was only three floors away from where Alex was and our attempts at slowing him down were proving futile.

"Zane, we're running out of time." Cass yelled to me.

"I have one more trick up sleeve." I told her. "Run back upstairs and warn Borg."

"Ok." She nodded.

As soon as she was out of range, I started generating an electromagnetic pulse from my power source.

"What are you doing?" Axel freaked. "You'll shut down all technology in range, including yourself."

"I know, and I am willing to go to great lengths to protect my son." I told him.

Axel made a run for it, but before he could leave, I went through with it. I sent out a pulse that shorted out all technology in the area, including Axel and myself...

Pixal's P.O.V.:

We had been watching everything from the security cameras. We saw a blue ring of light come from Zane's heart, but then the cameras went static.

"What did he do?" Cass asked.

"It's his final move." I frowned, not looking away from the screen. "He sends out a pulse that shorts out all technology in range, but it can also short himself out along with it."

"That's why he told me to come up here." Cass realized. "He didn't want it to effect me too."

"I'm glad he did." Peter smiled.

"I have to go check on him." I said.

"Pixal wait." My father stopped me. "The pulses still might be active. It wouldn't be safe."

"But Zane..."

"Pixal, Alex needs you right now." He interrupted me. "Thanks to Zane, he'll be able to finish his update. And you're the first person he needs to see when he wakes up."

"You're right." I sighed and looked at Alex. "Zane would want me to be here for him."

"As long as Axel is offline, Alex will able to finish his update without any interruptions." Peter told me.

"So now we just wait?" I asked.

"It shouldn't be long now." My father said looking at Alex's data.

It was up to 75% so I knew it wouldn't be too much longer, but I couldn't stop thinking about Zane. Was he ok? Could he even reboot from a pulse that strong? What if Axel woke up first? There were so many things to worry about, but like my father said, my son needed me more right now. It's what Zane would've wanted.

Before I knew it, 30 minutes had gone by. The cameras were still static and we had no idea if Zane was awake or if he was even going to wake up at all.

"Alex! He's waking up." Cass noticed and held his hand.

We all watched as Alex's eyes opened for the time in months. He looked down at himself and moved his whole body around.

"I... I'm back?" He looked around.

"Yes." I smiled and gave him a huge hug, something I've missed a lot.

"The update is completed." Borg told him. "Your heart should be 100% restored back it's original state."

Alex stood up and held his head. "Why do I feel dizzy?"

"It will take a few days for your operating system to get used to the update, but it should go away soon." Borg explained.

"Ok." Alex set back down. "Wow, it feels so good to be back in my body again."

"It's good to see you like this too son." I smiled.

"Wait, where's Dad?" Alex looked around.

We were al looking at each other, wondering how to tell him what had happened to Zane.

"Honey, your dad..."

"Is right here." Zane limped into the room.

"Zane!" I ran up to him.

"I'm alright Pixal." He smiled at me. "I apologize for scaring everyone, but I couldn't take the chance of him getting to Alex before he could finish."

"Dad?" Alex looked up at him.

"Alex, you're back." Zane hugged him.

"What happened to Axel?" I asked.

"I don't know. When I finally came back online, he was gone." Zane told us.

"Why didn't he come after Alex?" Borg asked.

"Who cares, what's important is that we have have you back to your old self again." Cass smiled and gave Alex a kiss on the cheek.

"I'm glad to be back too." Alex blushed.

It had taken months, but after all of that, we finally had our whole family back together again.
