Getting Ready
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
I woke up and looked at my alarm clock. It read 10:32am.
'Oh no! I overslept! I was supposed to have Ryder bathed and fed by now.' I thought to myself.
I immediately got up, quickly got dressed and ran into Ryder's bedroom to wake him up.
"Come on son we're running behind!" I screamed as I noticed he wasn't there.
I calmed down and figured my mom had already gotten him up for me. So I went to the kitchen and sure enough there he was stuffing some pancakes in his mouth. They were his favorite.
"Hey, you made breakfast?" I said to my mom as I walked into the kitchen.
"Of course." She replied with a smile. "I figured you would want to sleep in."
"Oh Mom you didn't have to do that." I told her. Although in all honesty, I was glad she did.
"I know, but you just looked so tired last night, and you have so much to do to get ready for your friends." She said.
She was right. I was really tired last night. I was really excited though, my friends were coming today. It's been so long since I've seen everyone. Over the years we always kept in touch through calling and sending letters, so I knew about everyone having kids of their own. However, when I called Pixal the other day, she said that she and Zane were bringing a plus one. I had no idea what that meant, but now I was curious on top of being excited.
"Thank you." I said as I grabbed some pancakes and set down next to my son. "Morning Ryder. Did Grandma make you pancakes?"
"Morning Daddy!" He said with a chunk of pancake in his mouth.
"Has he had his bath yet?" I asked my mom as I wiped some syrup off Ryder's face.
"I figured it would be better to do that after breakfast." She said chuckling a little.
My mom had always been better at the whole 'parenting' thing then I was, which made since because, well, I exist. Plus I was still new at doing this by myself since Kira disappeared and I was the youngest of all my friends, meaning I didn't have much experience with little kids.
"Good idea." I said giggling at Ryder.
"I could give him his bath too if you want." My mom said.
"No thanks, you've done more than enough already." I said. "I can do it."
I waited till after breakfast like my mom suggested and then I picked up Ryder and tried to give him his bath.
Let's just say bath time wasn't his favorite. I had to chase him around the house for about a half hour until we made a deal.
"Hey bud." I said to Ryder as he stopped running. "If you get in the bath, I'll take you out on my dragon tomorrow."
"Really?" He said walking closer towards me.
"Yes, but you have to be good with Daddy's friends today and take a bath. Ok?" I said.
"Ok." He sighed in defeat.
"Thank you." I said picking him up.
I carried him to the bathroom and gave him his bath finally. Afterwards, I got him dressed and brushed his hair, and then he went to play with his toys.
Sure, I could take down the Overlord with a broken leg no problem, but parenting was proving to be the hardest challenge I've ever faced. It was hard doing this whole 'parenting' thing by myself, but I liked a challenge. I enjoyed every minute I got to spend with my son. I wasn't father of the year by any means, but I was doing my best. Plus my son seemed happy so I must not be too bad at the whole 'single dad' thing.
Kira was so amazing at this parenting thing, meaning she usually handled the hard stuff. After Harumi, I thought I'd never love anyone again, but then I met her.
**********Flashback**********
I was on a mission with my team. A few of the Oni were left behind after stopping them from entering Ninjago from their realm and we were called to deal with them. Jay, Kai and I were chasing down a few through Hiroshi's Labyrinth while Nya, Zane and Cole were at Stixx.
After chasing them down a little ways, I somehow got separated from Jay and Kai. I kept looking and looking but I couldn't find them anywhere. My com-link wasn't getting a signal and I was all alone.
It started to get dark and then I couldn't see where I was going. I kept walking and the next thing I knew I had fallen into a ravine. I tried to get up but the fall had badly injured my left ankle and my com-link broken. I tried to call for help but all my screams did was echo back into the ravine. On top of everything I was too exhausted to form my dragon.
I couldn't stand. I laid there in the bottom of the ravine, feeling alone and helpless. Just before I passed out, I saw a light shining on my face.
When I came to, I was in some kind of treehouse. My ankle was wrapped up in bandages and underneath an ice pack. I had no idea where I was or how I got there.
"Oh you're awake." I heard a young girl say from across the room.
She then ran up to me. She had long brown hair, blue eyes and was wearing a green sweater and jeans. I thought she looked beautiful but I wasn't about to go down that road, or so I thought.
"Relax, I'm not gonna hurt you." She assured me.
"Where am I?" I asked sitting up in the hammock I was in.
"This is my treehouse." She explained. "Sorry if I scared you, I saw you at the bottom of the ravine and you were unconscious. I couldn't just leave you there, I had to do something."
"Well thank you." I replied. "Who are you?"
"Oh I'm sorry where are my manners? I'm Kira." She said.
"My name is Lloyd."
"It's nice to meet you Lloyd." Kira said. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm doing alright. Thanks."
"Are you sure? Your ankle is hurt pretty bad." She said. "I'm no doctor but I think you sprained it. I can help you get to a hospital if you..."
"Thanks but I'll be fine. Trust me, I've been through worse." I frowned. "Way worse."
"Physically or emotionally?"
"Both." I sighed.
"I can't speak for the physical pain, but I've been through a lot emotional pain myself. Heartbreak is the worst thing a person can go through." Kira told me.
"Tell me about it." I said. "Not that it's any of my business, but why were you in the forest?"
"I get around places. I have these bases set up almost everywhere in Ninjago, so no matter where the road takes me, I always have somewhere to go." She answered.
"That's really smart." I said.
"Thanks. You're lucky I happened to be at this one."
"Yeah, I am one lucky guy." I smiled.
I wasn't sure if that came off as flirty or not, but she was smiling none the less.
"Did you come with anyone else?" She asked me.
"Oh my gosh my friends!" I remembered. "They're probably out looking for me right now. I have to find them."
I tried to get up from the hammock but Kira gently pushed me back down.
"Woah relax. You're hurt." Kira said as she handed me my now fixed com-link. "Here, now you can call them and tell them where you are so they can come pick you up."
"You fixed it." I said amazed. "Thank you."
"No problem." Kira said.
"One question though, did you carry me up here?"
"I'm stronger than I look." She winked at me and I smiled.
Thanks to Kira, I was able to call the other ninja and get back home. I owe Kira everything for saving me that day, and we of course kept in touch after that.
*******End of flashback*******
Wherever Kira was, I hoped she was proud of me and our son.
Jay's P.O.V.:
I woke up on the couch screaming and gasping for air, which quickly turned into coughing. I had another nightmare.
In it Nadakhan tried to take my kids, my wife and all my friends away from me. I was tied down on the ground, weak and helpless as I watched him take everyone away.
"Jay what's wrong? Are you ok?" I heard a soothing voice next to me say.
It was my wife. I quickly gave her a hug on instinct and she immediately knew what was going on.
"Another nightmare?" She asked.
I nodded. She felt my forehead.
"At least your fever's gone down a little." She said.
I was surprised. I was feeling a little better. Maybe Nya would get to see Lloyd and the others after all.
"I am feeling a little better today." I told her right before I coughed.
I don't think she believed me after that.
"Let me get you more medicine." My wife said.
Before I knew it my wife, my son and my daughter were standing in front of me as Nya gave me a spoonful of the medicine she got me last night. When I was done, Lily gave me plate of bacon and eggs and set it on my lap.
"Thanks sweetie." I smiled.
"Here Daddy." Jax said as he handed me Mr. Cuddlywump.
That was my favorite toy growing up. It was old and worn out, but Jax loved that thing so much. I gave it to him when he was born, being a father I no longer had the need for toys. Plus Nya made me give it to him, but in the end I was glad she did.
"Thanks Jax, but aren't you going to need him when you go see everyone?" I asked.
"He will help you feel better." He smiled at me.
"Thanks sport." I said.
"Kids, do you have something you want to say to your father?" Nya asked them.
The kids turned around.
"We're sorry Daddy." They said with their cute little puppy dog eyes.
"It's ok." I assured them. "Next time you need to listen to your mother and don't sneak off like that alright? You had us worried sick."
"Yes Daddy." The kids said.
I saw the smile come back on Nya's face. I definitely earned some good parenting points for that.
"Be good for your Mom today ok?" I said to my twins.
"Yes Daddy. We promise." They said at the same time.
"Alright, now go get ready to go." Nya said to the kids.
"Yes Mommy." They said walking out of the room.
"Are you sure you're gonna be ok?" Nya asked me. I could hear how worried she sounded in her voice.
"I'll be fine. Go have fun." I smiled at her, hoping to calm her down.
"Alright. If you need anything or anything happens be sure to call ok?"
"Of course. Don't worry, I'll be fine." I reassured her. "Tell everyone I said hi."
"Ok, I love you." She told me.
"I love you too." I said as I blew her a kiss.
"Alright kids time to go." She yelled.
They all gave me hugs before heading out the door and started heading for Lloyd's. I was upset about not getting to go, but I was happy Nya and the kids didn't miss out.
Kai's P.O.V.:
I woke up early because I was just so excited for today. I spiked up my hair, brushed my teeth and got dressed. Then I decided to let Skylor sleep in and get Amber and Blake up myself. As much as I love my wife, she was NOT a morning person.
I walked into Amber's room and woke her up. She put up a bit of a fight as usual, because she took after her mom, but I eventually was able to get her out of bed and got her to get dressed.
Next I went into Blake's room. He was crying in his crib. I lifted him out of the crib and held him close to me.
"What's wrong bud?" I asked him, not expecting a good answer, if any.
"Bad dweam Dada." He whimpered.
I picked up his stuffed dragon and handed it to him, still in my arms.
"There there. It's ok." I said rubbing his back trying to calm him down. "It was only a dream. It's all over now."
I bounced my son around in my arms trying to calm him down. I hoped his crying didn't wake Skylor up.
"Is everything ok?" Skylor asked as she walked into the room. She looked really tired.
"Blake had a bad dream." I told her. "I got a handle on it."
"Why didn't you wake me up?" She asked me yawning.
"I thought I'd let you sleep a little more while I got the kids up. Sorry babe." I said, hoping she wouldn't get mad.
"Don't be sorry." Skylor said to my surprise. "That was sweet, thanks."
She kissed me on the cheek. As she did she took Blake from me. She was acting really weird, but I didn't question it.
"There there, it's ok. Mama's here." She said hugging him.
"I'll go check on Amber." I said.
Skylor nodded and continued to tend to Blake, who was still a little freaked out.
I went to find Amber. She was in the kitchen, now fully dressed, trying to reach a box of cereal in the cabinet but she was too little.
"Need some help?" I asked.
"Please Daddy." She said pointing to the box.
I reached up in the cabinet and made her a bowl of cereal and put it on the table for her.
"Thanks Daddy." She said picking up her spoon.
"You're welcome." I replied. "How are you feeling today?"
I was a concerned about her after what happened yesterday. Skylor said that if she was getting her powers, we could expect her to have episodes where her hands would go numb for a few minutes. She would eventually start get headaches and migraines until they kicked in so I just wanted to be sure she was ok.
"I'm good." She said giving me a thumbs up.
"Great. I'm glad."
After I said this, I started making Skylor's breakfast for her so we could get a head start on things. I also made me and my son some breakfast too as I waited for them.
I was just finishing my breakfast when Skylor walked into the kitchen still carrying our son. He had calmed down a lot but he still seemed a little scared.
"My turn?" I asked her holding out my hands.
"Yep." She said as she handed Blake to me and started walking towards the bowl of cereal I had made for her.
"How you feeling buddy?" I asked him.
"I feel bet'er Dada." He replied. I heard his tummy growling.
"Are you hungry?" I said.
"Yes dada."
And with that I put Blake in the high chair and began to feed him. He sure was smart for a three year old.
"So are we taking the dragons?" Skylor asked me eating her breakfast.
"I don't see why not." I said.
"Ragon! Ragon!" Blake yelled very excitedly. The kids loved it when Skylor and I took them out on our dragons.
"When do I get my own dragon mommy?" I heard Amber say.
"Not for a while sweetheart." Skylor said. "You're powers still need to come in first."
"Aww." my daughter sighed sadly.
"Relax honey, they'll come soon enough." I said as I gave her a hug.
"How long?" Amber said as she looked at me.
"I don't know, but they will." I said.
"We better get going." Skylor said. "We wouldn't want to be late."
"Right." I said as Blake got done eating. "Ready to go bud?" I asked my son.
Blake started to kick his legs, which was his way of telling me he wanted down. I lifted him out and he started to play with his toy dragon and ran around the house pretended to make it fly.
"I'll take that as a yes." Skylor said chuckling.
With that, we all finished everything and went outside to form our dragons and started heading to Lloyd's.
Zane's P.O.V.:
Alex was settling in nicely with Pixal and I. He was everything we've ever wanted and more.
"Are we ready to go to Lloyd's?" I asked my son and wife.
"Who is Lloyd?" Alex asked.
I remembered that this was my son's first time around people who weren't nindroids. I wasn't sure if he even knew what humans were.
"He is a good friend of ours." I said. "However, our other friends are not like us."
"How so?" He asked.
"They aren't built like we are." Pixal said. "They are humans."
"But don't worry. They're very nice." I assured him.
"Ok." Alex said.
"Are you excited?" I asked him.
"Affirmative." He answered.
His emotional sensors seem to be working fine. I was worried about that because he had only been built yesterday and he was still getting used to his systems. There also might be a few bugs to work out, but so far there were not any problems.
I did not know if the original master of ice put the same powers into what was now Alex's power source. Cyrus Borg was not able to tell and when I scanned it I wasn't either. I could always give up my power so he could use it, but I had no idea how it would affect me or my son. I guess I would just wait and see what happens.
We went out front and I formed my dragon. Alex had never seen an elemental dragon before and was very impressed by it.
"What is that?!" Alex asked me looking at my dragon.
"This is my elemental dragon." I told him. "Elemental masters can form them once they unlock their true potentials."
"That is really cool." He said.
"Would you like to ride with me?" I asked my son as I got on my dragon and held out my hand.
"Sure." He smiled.
He took my hand and I helped him onto my dragon and Pixal followed us in her Samurai X suit.
"Are you having fun Alex?" Pixal called over to him from her mech.
"Yes Mom this is awesome!" He smiled.
"I'm glad you're having fun." I said to him.
"So will I be able to make a dragon too?" He asked me.
"I do not know." I admitted. "It is hard to tell. But you're welcome to ride with me anytime you like."
"Ok dad." He said.
Honestly whether he would get my powers or not, I was happy to be a parent and I know Pixal was too. We were happy to have him as part of our family.
Cole's P.O.V.:
I woke up and got dressed. I don't know why but I felt like wearing my old ninja suit. Maybe it was because I was meeting everyone for the first time in a while.
I don't know what Lloyd wanted to talk about, but he said it was important. I just hoped it wasn't some kind of dangerous mission that forced me to be away from my daughter.
Allison was my everything. She was cute and sweet and reminded me of Seliel in many ways. With her not around very much, Allison was my rock. I love my daughter more than I love cake. And I really LOVE cake. That's why I call her my cupcake.
"Allison!" I said walking into her bedroom. "Time to get up."
"Yay!" She said as she bolted up from her bed obviously excited.
"Well someone's happy today." I said.
"I'm excited Daddy."
"I can see that." I laughed. "Time to get ready."
"Ok Daddy." She said.
I offered to help her get dressed, but she said she could do it by herself. She was so mature for a five year old, almost six.
That's when I went into the kitchen and made us both a bowl of cereal. Allison walked into the kitchen now fully dressed. She set down next to me and started to eat.
"Thanks daddy." She said.
"You're welcome."
"Why are you wearing that?" She asked as she noticed my suit. I could tell she was worried about something.
"I just felt like wearing it is all." I assured her. "No need to worry."
"I'm not worried." She said as her voice got really high. That only happened when she was lying, meaning that she really was worried.
"What's the matter sweetheart?" I asked her.
"Nothing." She said, her voice still high.
"Come on cupcake. Whatever it is, you can tell me."
"Ok." She sighed. "I guess I... I just don't want lose you."
I was surprised by this. I had told her all about the adventures of me and the other ninja and how I was always prepared. However, I kinda left out the part about me becoming a ghost for a short time and that I couldn't see my reflection in the Caves of Despair. Sometimes I still don't see it and it scares me every time. Not because I don't make it, but because of what would happen to my daughter.
"Don't worry cupcake. Nothing's gonna happen to me. I promise."
I walked up to her and took her in my arms. To be honest, I wished I believed what I just said. That was my future whether I liked it or not. The only ones who knew about it were the other ninja and Seliel. And I wasn't planning on telling Allison anytime soon.
"Just don't die out there ok?" Allison said hugging me back tightly, like REALLY tightly.
"Ok ok. Don't worry cupcake." I said trying to carefully pry her off of me.
She was suddenly really strong, she wouldn't budge. I started to wonder if she was starting to get my elemental powers, although I really hoped that wasn't the case.
"Everything ok?" I asked her.
"I don't know." She answered sounding worried. "I can't let go."
"What?"
"Daddy help!" She screamed.
I then realized that she probably did inherit my powers. She started to hug me even tighter, and for a second I thought I was gonna pass out, but I wasn't worried as I knew exactly what to do.
"Allison, listen to me very carefully. Take a deep breath and try to calm down. Then release your grip, slowly." I said as calmly as I could.
She did exactly what I told her to do, which that was a first, and her grip started to loosen around me. I had to catch my breath as I held her hands.
"There you go." I said smiling and trying not to let her see me catching my breath. "Good job."
"What was that?" She asked sounding confused.
"Well, I think we have a mini ninja on our hands." I said as I kneeled in front of my daughter.
She knew what that meant and I knew she wanted to be a ninja herself. One time I caught her trying on one of my suits and throwing punches in the mirror. It was the cutest thing ever. However if she ever changed her mind, I would support her in whatever she decided to be.
"So I'm gonna have powers just like you Daddy?" She said excitedly.
"Looks like it." I smiled.
"So, do I have to be a ninja now?"
"You can be anything you want to be cupcake. I will support you a hundred and ten percent, whether you're a ninja or not."
I tried to give her another hug, but this time she didn't hug me back and just padded me on the head. I smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
I noticed the clock on the wall and now we were going to be late meeting everyone, but I didn't care. What was important was Allison was ok and had calmed down.
"Oh look at the time." I said. "Do you still want to go?"
She nodded her head and next thing I knew we were heading for Lloyd's on my dragon.
