Garmadon Family Reunion (Part II)

Narrator's P.O.V.:

Lloyd was passed out on the ground of the cave. Ryder ran up to him and tried to shake him awake, he was breathing but he wasn't moving. Ryder looked up at his grandfather with tears in eyes.

"Is my daddy gonna be ok?" He whimpered to Garmadon.

"Yes, he's just sleep deprived." He answered. "After a little nap he should be fine."

"Oh ok." Ryder sighed with relief.

Garmadon picked Lloyd up and took him in his arms.

"Come on, we have to get you back home." Garmadon said.

Ryder hesitated a bit. His five year old mind couldn't comprehend what was going on. He didn't know whether to trust his grandfather or not. But then he remembered something his father told him. 'The best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend.'

He nodded and started to follow Garmadon out of the cave. He kept looking at his father passed out in his grandfather's arms. Garmadon noticed how worried Ryder was.

"Don't worry, he'll be ok." Garmadon assured him. "He just pushed it a little too hard."

"I think he's mad at me." Ryder sighed.

"Why would you think that?" Garmadon asked.

"Well I was supposed to stay home with Mom and Grandma but when I heard my dad say he was going on this mission to find you I snuck onto his dragon." He explained.

"He's just trying to keep you safe." Garmadon said. "You should be thankful you have such a good father, some people aren't so lucky."

"He's told me the stories about you and all the things you've done." Ryder said. "Some good, some bad, some very bad."

"And yet you still trust me?" Garmadon was confused.

"No, but my father said the best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend." Ryder said. "I think I'm starting to understand what he meant by that."

"You're a smart kid you know that?" Garmadon said.

"I get it from my mom." He laughed.

They both started to laugh and then Lloyd started moving and waking up.

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

I woke up and I was in my father's arms with Ryder following close behind us.

"Dad, what's going on?" I asked him.

"Daddy!" Ryder ran over to me.

"I'm fine son." I assured him. "What happened?"

"You passed out and I had to carry you." My father explained. "Are you feeling ok?"

"Yeah I think can walk now." I said and he put me down.

I stumbled a bit so Ryder tried to help me keep my balance. He was so short it was kinda adorable. Then I stood up on my own.

"Thanks bud." I smiled. "Are you hungry?"

He nodded and I grabbed a few bananas from my bag. I gave one to Ryder and one to my father, because he helped me. Then I got one for myself and we ate them as we walked. I was feeling better after I got some food in me.

About half an hour later, we finally found the exit. The problem was it was up on a ledge so we would have to climb up to it. Any other day it wouldn't be a problem, but my arm was still in pretty bad shape and Ryder didn't know how to climb.

"Ryder and I can't climb up there." I told my father. "Are you sure this is the only way out?"

"There are other exits but unless you want to be here for hours, this is the only way." He explained.

"Mom and my wife don't know Ryder came with me. We have to get back to them." I said.

"Yeah he told me about that." My dad said.

"I think I can do it." Ryder said looking up at the exit.

"No way, it's too dangerous and I don't want you to get hurt." I said to him.

"But Daddy I..."

"No Ryder." I interrupted him. "You've done quite enough."

I could tell I hurt his feelings and I felt so bad, but he was the one who got us into this mess. Or maybe it was my fault for not checking on Ryder before I left. He usually doesn't do things like this. I wonder why he's acting out so much.

"I have an idea." My father said. "I can take you up there, but I'd have to take one of you at a time. I don't have the strength to take you both at once."

"If you think I'm gonna leave you and Ryder alone with you for two seconds you're kidding yourself." I said.

"We were fine when you were passed out weren't we Ryder?" He asked my son.

"That's true." Ryder said. "But I really don't need your help, I think I can do this."

"No Ryder!" I told him.

"Ok dad." He rolled his eyes.

Little did I know Ryder walked up to the ledge and started to climb it. My father and I were too busy talking to notice.

"Did he inherit your powers?" My dad asked.

"We think so at least." I shrugged. "They're still coming in."

"Is your wife an elemental master too?" He asked.

"She's a descendant of the elemental master of healing, but she never inherited powers herself." I explained. "Wait why do you wanna know?"

"I was just curious." He said.

I looked over at Ryder and he was attempting to climb his way up to the exit. Before I got the chance to confront him about disobeying me, he reached his hand out to grab a rock and it broke off and hit him in his wrist. He slipped and almost fell to the ground onto some sharp rocks. My heart skipped a beat, but luckily my father was able to jump over the rocks and catch him. I was so relieved.

"Ryder!" I screamed and ran up to him. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah yeah I'm fine." He said as my father put him down.

"Thank goodness you're alright." I hugged him. Then I looked at my father. "Thank you."

"For what?" He asked.

"For saving my son's life." I said.

"Well I didn't want you to get in trouble with your wife." He said.

"You could've let him fall, but you didn't." I smiled. "Maybe there is some good left in you after all."

"Ouch!" I noticed Ryder was holding his wrist. That rock did hit him pretty hard.

"What's wrong bud?" I asked.

"It hurts." He struggled.

"Easy Ryd, let me take a look." I took a look at his wrist. "Can you move it?"

Ryder tried to move his wrist up and down. His wrist started to move but I could tell my son was in pain. I stopped him.

"Well it doesn't look broken." I said. "We'll have your mom look at it when we get home. For now just try to take it easy. Hold still."

He nodded and set down on the ground. I tried to get the first aid kit out of my bag, but my arm was still hurting. My father came over and got it out of my bag and started wrapping up my son's wrist.

"How does that feel?" He asked my son.

"Better thanks." Ryder replied.

"Lloyd." My father looked at me. "I'm so sorry, I never meant for him to get hurt."

I wasn't mad at my father, which was a first. It wasn't his fault that Ryder got hurt, and it would've been way worse if he hadn't caught him when he fell. I didn't want to trust him, I didn't want Ryder to either though I'm pretty sure that was out the window. After all, he did just save his life, but there was something still bothering me about my father's behavior.

"What's gotten into you?" I looked at my father.

"What do you mean? I'm just trying to help." He said.

"Exactly, that's not like you at all." I said. "What's really going on?"

"I told you, I wanted to help." He said.

"Uhh guys? Can we get out of here now?" Ryder asked as he yawned.

"We're Trying to figure it out son." I told him.

"No you're not, your fighting with each other again." Ryder screamed.

Me and my father looked at each other and nodded. We put aside our differences between us so we could Ryder out safely. He carried Ryder up to the exit and he came back and got me. Then my father, Ryder and I made our way out of the forest and my phone was ringing off the hook with dozens of miscalls from my mom and Kira. I was gonna be in a lot of trouble when I got home. I called Kira back.

"Hello?" I said.

"Lloyd thank goodness." Kira sounded relieved. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine." I answered.

"I can't find Ryder anywhere, I'm really worried about him."

"Relax, Ryder stowed away with me and I just now got to a place with service. I'm so sorry."

"Is he ok?" She asked.

"He's fine, thanks to my father." I said hoping she wouldn't freak out.

"What? Garmadon is there?!"

"Kira calm down it's ok. He's changed." I tried to calm her down.

"Are you sure you can trust him?" She asked.

"No, but I don't have a choice. He saved Ryder's life." I told her.

"Ok stay where you are. Me and your mother will come and get you." Kira said.

"We're right by Mega Monster Amusement Park."

"Ok we'll be right there." Kira said. "I love you."

"I love you too." I said.

"Wait, let me talk to Ryder." She said.

I called Ryder over to me and handed him the phone. I could tell he got quite an ear full of Kira being mad. Which didn't surprise me, especially because of the baby. I was pretty mad at him for sneaking away too, but honestly I was just happy it was all over.

Pretty soon, my mom came with Kira. Kira bolted out of the car and ran over to me and Ryder giving us a big hug. My mom was right behind her.

"Oh my boys!" Kira exclaimed. "I was so worried about you guys. Don't ever scare me like that again."

"I'm happy to see you too." I laughed.

"What happened to your arm honey?" She asked looking at it.

"Don't worry, it's fine." I said. Then Kira started feeling my arm and it hurt when she touched it. "Ow!"

"It doesn't feel fine, it could be broken." Kira said.

"Alright let's get you two home. I think it's somebody's bedtime." My mom said picking up Ryder.

"What happened to his wrist?" Kira asked looking at Ryder.

"It's a long story." I said hoping that would fly for now.

"I think we have some ice packs in the car, I'll take care of him." My mom said.

"Thanks." Kira said. "You ready to go home Lloyd?"

"Hang on, there's something I have to do."

I gave Kira a kiss on the cheek and my mom put Ryder in the car, who was so tired he fell right asleep. Then I ran to the bush my father was hiding in.

"Dad?" I called for him.

"May I help you?" He turned to me.

"I just wanted to thank you again for saving my son." I said. "I can't imagine what would've happened if you hadn't been there."

"What's your point?" He asked.

"I want you to meet someone." I said. "Come on."

He followed me back to where my  family was. This was either going to go well, or really really badly.

"Kira, this is my father." I pointed to him. "Dad, this is my wife Kira."

"Son what are you doing?" My mom warned.

"He saved Ryder's life, he deserves to know." I said.

"I hope you know what you're doing." My mother said.

"Yeah, me too." I sighed.

"Thank you for saving my son." Kira said to my father.

"Thank you for marrying mine." He said. "You two seem very happy together."

"We are." She smiled at me. "Thanks again."

"So, I guess now that I'm out of hiding you want to take me back to prison?" My father looked at me.

I didn't know what to say to that, nobody did. I didn't want the man who just saved my son's life to go to prison, but after everything he did to so many innocent people, would it be wrong to let him off the hook?

"It's your decision Lloyd." Kira looked at me.

"Meet me back here tomorrow and we'll try to work something out." I said finally.

Kira pulled me aside to talk to me in private.

"Lloyd, you can't just let him sleep out here in the woods all night." She said.

"What you want him to spend the night at our place?" I asked.

"No, but he saved our son's life today, we at least owe him something." She insisted. "I have an old hideout around here, I can send him there for the night."

"Well that's better than nothing I guess." I agreed.

We went back to him and my mom, surprisingly they weren't fighting with each other. We sent my father to Kira's hide out and we headed back home.

The whole ride home I kept thinking about what I was gonna do about my father. Did he deserve to go back in prison? Did the good he did today make up for everything he did in the past?  And more importantly, was this all a trick to get me to trust him? These were questions I didn't have the answers to. All I knew was without him, my son wouldn't be alive.

When we got home after everything that happened, my mom put Ryder to bed and I was in my bedroom with Kira. She was checking my arm and making sure it wasn't broken, and I told her about everything that had happened in the cave.

"...and that's when I got the chance to call you." I finished.

"Sounds like you and Ryder had quite the adventure." She said looking at my arm.

"Yeah, I did my best to protect him but I didn't do a very good job." I sighed. "I'm a terrible father."

"Honey don't say that." Kira looked at me. "You got him back in one piece didn't you?"

"Well I guess that's true." I admitted.

"And you kept him safe right?"

"Well yeah but he..."

"See, you're a great dad." She smiled.

"Yeah but what happens when the baby comes? I'm not sure I can handle it." I sighed.

"Sure we can." She smiled. "Everything's gonna be fine."

"You're right. Thanks." I smiled back. Then Kira touched my arm. "Ow!"

"Easy. You might have broken it." She said.

"Here this will help." My mom walked in with an ice pack in her hand.

"Thank you Misako." Kira said.

"Thanks mom." I said. "How's Ryder?"

"He hurt his wrist, but he's sleeping peacefully now so it must not be anything too serious." She said.

"This is all my fault." I said. Then Kira set the ice pack on my arm and I flinched. "Gah!"

"Sorry sweetie." Kira said.

"How is he?" My mom asked.

"I think it's a small fracture." Kira told her. "He should be fine in a few weeks."

"Weeks?" I questioned. "I can't take it easy for that long."

"Hmm. Let me wrap it up for tonight and I'll take you to the hospital in the morning just to be sure, ok?" Kira suggested.

"Alright." I sighed. "Thanks."

If I wasn't able to move my arm for weeks, then I wouldn't be able to help Kira and Ryder either. It killed me that I couldn't take care of them in their time of need. I was hoping that my arm wasn't broken, but as much as I hated it, she was usually always right.

She wrapped up my arm with bandages and put it back in a sling. Then I took some pain medication and we went to sleep.

The next morning...

I woke up to Kira right in front of me.

"Morning sleepy head." She smiled. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, don't worry." I told her. "Is Ryder up yet?"

"Yeah, I just got him up." Kira replied.

"I feel so bad, it's all my fault." I said as I was about to get up from the bed. Then Kira stopped me.

"Whoa take it easy." She said. "I'll bring you some breakfast."

"Honey you don't have to do that." I can get it myself." I said getting out of bed.

"But you're hurt."

"It's ok, I'm feeling a lot better today." I said.

"Oh I get it, you're not letting me help you because I'm carrying our baby." She crossed her arms.

"Noooo." I lied.

"Oh come on, the same thing happened when I was pregnant with Ryder."

"Ok fine, that's exactly what I'm doing." I gave in. "I'm sorry, but I just feel it's my responsibility as your husband and the baby's father to help you with whatever you need until he or she gets here."

"Honey, that's so sweet and I appreciate it, but right now you need my help a lot more then I need yours." She smiled.

"You know I hate it when you're right." I teased.

"I know." She laughed. "Now wait here, I'll go get you some food."

"Fine, you win as usual." I sighed.

"Hehe" Kira chuckled and kissed me on the cheek. "I'll be right back."

She started to walk out of the room, but then she stopped and held her stomach.

"What's wrong? Are you ok?" I asked.

"I think the baby just kicked." She smiled.

"What?" I was shocked.

"Yeah come feel this." She came closer to me.

I put my hand on her stomach and I felt the baby kicking. It brought back memories of the time she was pregnant with Ryder. It was such a good feeling that I knew in about eight months that baby was gonna be here. I was really excited, but at the same time I was afraid. One kid I could handle, but now I was gonna have two.

"Wow it's really kicking." I said.

"Yep, it is." Kira smiled.

Then my mom and Ryder walked into the room. I guess they heard Kira shouting.

"Is everything ok?" My mom asked.

"The baby's kicking." Kira said.

"What does that mean?" Ryder asked.

"It means your little brother or sister is happy." Kira said. "Come here Ryder."

Ryder came closer to me and Kira. I took Ryder's hand and gently placed it on Kira's stomach.

"So that's my little brother in there?" He asked.

"Or sister." I smiled.

"How did it get in there?" He asked.

"We'll tell you when you're older." I laughed.

Then Kira looked at the clock.

"Oh we're gonna be late. We better get going." Kira said.

"Late for what?" I asked.

"Oh I made you guys an appointment at the hospital, just so they can take a look at your arm and I'm gonna get them to look at Ryder's wrist too." Kira said.

"Mom, I told you I'm fine." Ryder said.

"I know sweetie but I just want to make sure everything's ok." Kira said to Ryder. "Now do you need any help getting dressed?"

"No, I'll go get ready." Ryder sighed as he left the room.

She helped me and Ryder get ready, we got something to eat, then took us to the hospital. I was more worried about my son than myself. Plus I still had to meet up with my father, but what was important to me was that my son was ok.
