Endings Part 2: Saving the Garmadons
Kira's P.O.V.:
The ninja came back into the monastery after getting back from their mission to rescue Master Wu. All the kids and the other parents were happy to see their loved ones again. And to my surprise, they seem to have succeeded in rescuing master Wu.
"Hello younger nephew." He smiled at Ryder.
"Who are you?" He asked Wu.
"Ryder, this your great uncle Wu." I introduced him.
"Hello." Ryder smiled at him.
"He's gotten so big." Wu smiled. "And I see the rest of you have been busy as well."
"Yeah, you remember Amber, and this is Blake." Kai said hugging his daughter and son.
"They're also getting a little brother or sister soon." Skylor said gently rubbing her stomach.
"And Ryder too." I smiled.
"Congratulations." Wu said.
"Mommy!" Jax and Lily ran into Nya's arms.
"Hey guys I missed you." Nya hugged them. "Wu, this is Lily and Jax."
"And this is Alex." Zane introduced his son.
"And of course you remember Allison." Cole let Allison ride on his shoulders.
"It's nice to see you all again." Wu smiled.
I was glad all the kids got along with Wu. I kept looking for Lloyd, but he wasn't there. I was beginning to worry, and Ryder was too.
"Where's Daddy?" Ryder asked me.
"I'm sure he'll be here soon bud." I said to him. "In the meantime why don't you and your friends go show your great uncle Wu around the monastery, ok?"
"Ok." He said taking Wu's hand.
Misako, Kai, Nya, Seliel and Pixal stayed in the kitchen while the rest of the adults took the kids into the other room to play. I could tell that I was about to hear some bad news.
"Kai, where's Lloyd?" I frowned.
"He didn't make it through the portal before it closed. Don't worry though, we have a plan." Kai assured me.
"You guys left him alone, with his father, in a realm that he knows nothing about, where he could be eaten by kraglings, or attacked by skeletons, or...?" I panicked.
"Kira calm down." Misako put her hand on my shoulder. "My boy is tough, he'll be ok."
"Besides, I'm sure Seliel has a plan to open the portal from this side right?" Nya looked at Seliel.
"Absolutely." Seliel nodded. "If I get those last few ingredients then we should have Lloyd and Garmadon out of that realm by morning."
"Thank you Seliel." I took a deep breath. "I'll do whatever I can to help bring them back."
"Don't worry we'll handle it." Seliel said.
"Due to the abnormal temperatures of the realm when night falls, Lloyd will have to get to shelter." Pixal explained.
"I'm sure his father will keep him safe out there." Nya said.
"I really hope you're right." I frowned.
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
I woke up still in the realm of madness. My leg still hurt, but it felt better than it did yesterday. My father wasn't awake yet, but it was still dawning so we had a little time to make it to the summit before Seliel and the others open the portal, but that much time especially since I didn't think I could walk yet.
"Dad!" I screamed trying to wake him up. "Dad wake up!"
He didn't wake up and I still couldn't stand, so I got another idea. I grabbed the banana peel from last night that I could reach and I threw it at him. Yeah he was not happy I did that, but at least it worked. I couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.
"Did you seriously throw this at me?" He looked mad.
"I'm sorry but we need to leave now if we wanna reach the summit by the time they open the portal." I told him as I tried to not let him see me laughing.
"You are so lucky you have Ryder or else I would leave you here." Dad warned.
"You're forgetting that without me, they probably wouldn't let you through. Plus Kira would kill you if you left me behind." I told him.
"Hmm?" He questioned.
"You know what never mind." I shrugged. "Let's just get to the summit."
I tried to stand up but my leg was still hurting. It wasn't as bad as it was yesterday, but it still hurt to move it and walking all the way there was going to be challenging for me.
My father saw me struggling and walked over to me.
"Still don't want me to carry you?" He smirked.
"Not funny." I rolled my eyes and continued trying to get up, but I couldn't. "Ahh!"
"Face it Lloyd, you're hurt. You won't be able to get there by yourself." My father said.
"And whose fault is that?" I looked over at him.
"The portal takes both of us son. That's why it closed before you could get through." He explained. "I never meant to hurt you."
"I know that." I sighed. "I'm sorry Dad, I guess I just miss Ryder and Kira."
"I know how that feels, missing your wife and son like that." He frowned and set down next to me.
"Well it's not too late." I said. "Maybe when we get back I can let you spend more time with Ryder. He really seems to like you and plus I still owe you for saving his life."
"We'll see." He said getting up. "Come on son, let's get back up to the summit."
"Ok." I agreed and tried to stand up, but my leg was still hurting.
"How's your leg?" He asked.
"It still hurts to move it, but it feels a little better." I said.
"Perhaps we should wait a little longer?" He suggested.
"We can't. If we wait any longer we'll miss the portal." I told him. "We have to leave now."
"Ok well it looks like I'm doing the walking."
"Fine, but we tell no one about this."
"Deal." He agreed.
He helped me onto his back and then we headed to the summit. My father went as fast as he could, but he had to carry me which was slowing him down a bit. I was worried we weren't going to make it in time.
"Dad, I think I can walk now if you're getting tired." I told him.
"No son, with your injury you won't be able to keep up." He told me. "We'll make better time this way."
"Are you sure you're going the right way? We should've been there by now." I realized.
"I'm taking the back way to avoid the kraglings, they feast at this hour and if we run into those it will take even longer." He explained. "Relax, we'll be there in time."
"I hope so." I said.
We kept moving until we were almost to the summit. Then out of nowhere a kragling jumped out in front of us. My dad turned around and ran behind a rock where he let me off his back and put me on the ground. I was confused why he wasn't trying to fight him off.
"Dad what are you doing?" I asked.
"Stay here and out of site." He demanded. "I'll be right back."
"Wait, I can help." I begged.
"Not with that injury you can't." He pointed to my leg.
"I told you I'm feeling better. It'll go faster if you let me help." I insisted.
"No way, you're sitting this one out."
I kept insisting that I help, but then he went to fight the kragling on his own. I was stuck watching the whole fight from the behind the rock and I could tell my father was out of practice plus he was tired from carrying me.
I kept watching as my father was flung into a rock by the kragling and he was stunned by it. It kept sliding towards him until it got close enough to strike. I couldn't just sit there I had to do something.
I forced myself to get up using my sword as a crutch and limped over to the fight. I waved my sword in the air and shouted at the kragling, making it run away from my dad and started chasing me. Before it could reach me, I slid to the left and it ran off the edge of the mountain.
I took a moment to catch my breath and then went to check on my father. I limped over to him and he was unconscious.
"Dad?" I tried to shake him awake. "Father wake up!"
"L-Lloyd?" He woke up. "I told you not to intervene."
"Sorry, I'm stubborn." I smirked.
"I know, you get that from me." He laughed and so did I.
"Are you hurt?" I asked my father.
"My arm is sore but it's ok, I got three more." He said.
"Here let me help."
I set down on the ground, being careful not to injure my leg again, and got the first aid kit out of my bag. I took the bandages out and wrapped up his bottom left arm. I had learned plenty about first aid from watching Kira treat my injuries in the past. I guess I do get hurt a lot and that's why she was always so worried about me. I guess I should be more careful from now on.
"How's that?" I asked my father as I finished wrapping his arm.
"Fine, thank you." He said as he got up. "We've lost a lot of time, we better get you back home. Can you walk now?"
"I can try." I tried to get up but it still hurt to move my leg. "Ow!"
"You better stay off it son." He insisted. "I can still get you to the summit in time if we hurry."
"Are you sure you can still carry me?" I asked looking at his arm.
"I have to." He held out his hand for me. "For Ryder."
"For Ryder." I smiled and put my hand in his.
He hoisted me up and carried me the rest of the way to the summit. I know the situation was pressing, but I kind of enjoyed the time I was getting to spend with my father. I just hoped that soon I would get to see the rest of my family again.
Wu's P.O.V.:
The kids were busy giving me a tour around the monastery. I was really enjoying getting to spend time with all of them after all those years.
I was impressed by how well my pupils have raised their offspring. Amber was so ambitious and a good protector of her very energetic little brother. Allison was so strong and competitive like her parents. Little Lily was so creative and had such a take-charge attitude. Jax was a bit of a trouble maker, but he always took responsibility for the things he did and made sure no one else took the blame. Blake was a friend to everyone and willing to help his friends. Alex was very observant and learning to enjoy the finer things in life.
The one I was most impressed with was my great nephew Ryder. I saw something in him, he definitely had the potential to be a great leader one day. Lloyd and Kira had taught him well and he was capable of great things, they all were. There is no doubt that one day they would be an unstoppable team, but they still had a long way to go.
Kira's P.O.V.:
It was morning and all the kids and parents spent the night in the monastery so we could get a head start this morning. I wasn't able to sleep at all because I was up all night worrying about Lloyd and if he was going to be ok. He was with his father, probably lost, and knowing him he most likely hurt himself again. I love him but he can be reckless and easily get himself into trouble. Ryder gets that from his father too.
We all left the kids with Misako, Wu and the others while Seliel, Zane and I went to the west cliffs to open the portal. Seliel poured the potion on the ground and the portal opened. I didn't see them through the other side.
"Where are they?" I asked.
"Relax, I'm sure they'll be here." Zane said.
"I hope so." I frowned.
Lloyd's P.O.V.:
After a few hours, we finally reached the summit. The portal was open and I could see Seliel Zane and Kira standing on the other side.
"Come on Dad, it won't be open for long." I said as he helped me off his back.
"Son, I'm not going back." He looked at me.
"But Ryder needs you." I frowned.
"No, Ryder needs you." He looked at me. "I will return to Ninjago someday, but not today. I have to work on getting myself in order first."
"But Dad I..."
"I'm sorry, but it has to be this way." He said. "It's time for me to finish what Wu started."
Before I could insist on him coming with me, he threw me into the portal, and this time I made it to the other side. I landed right in Kira's arms and smiled.
"Nice catch." I said jokingly.
"Always here for you greenie." Kira winked at me.
She put me down and I almost fell over. She had to help me keep my balance because of my leg.
"Lloyd!" She exclaimed.
"I'm fine. I'm fine." I assured her, though I doubt she believed me.
"Where's your father?" Zane asked.
"He's gonna stay in the realm for a while." I frowned. "I tried to get him to come with me, but he refused. He wanted to finish what Wu started."
"And your leg. Did he hurt you?" Seliel asked.
"It was an accident." I explained. "He tried to throw me into the portal and it closed before I could get through."
"Here, let me take a look at that." Kira said.
I nodded and Kira helped me sit on a rock. She was touching my leg all over trying to see if it was broken and where. She touched it right above the knee and I flinched.
"I don't think it's broken, probably just a bad sprain." Kira confirmed. "We'll get you home and I'll take you to the hospital tonight."
"Ok thanks." I said. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." She smiled and gave me the biggest hug. "I'm so happy you got back in one piece."
"I'm glad to be back." I smiled.
Zane gave us a ride back to the monastery and Kira helped me and set me down in the chair with an ice pack for my leg. Then Ryder ran in and greeted me with the biggest hug imaginable.
"Daddy!" He screamed and ran into my arms.
"Hey bud." I smiled and pulled him into my lap. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too Daddy." He leaned into me.
A lot has happened this year. I got my wife back, I got my uncle back, I patched things up with my father and I had a baby on the way. I went from only having Ryder and my mom around, to finally putting my whole family back together. I just hope I'll get see my father again one day.
