Kai's P.O.V.:

Skylor had been pregnant for about a month now. We were all excited, but I could tell Amber was still upset because she probably still thought Blake was my favorite. I was trying to everything I could to spend more time with her, but then Blake would need something.

But today, we had a plan to change all that. Skylor had a doctors appointment so she was going to take Blake to Nya and Jay's for the day so I could have a nice daddy-daughter day with Amber. It was going to be a surprise for her. Skylor and Blake had already left so it was just me and Amber there.

"Hey Amber." I said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Hi Daddy." Amber replied.

"Guess what? You're mom and Blake are gonna be out all day, so you and I get to spend the whole day together." I exclaimed.

"Really?" Amber said excitedly.

"Yep, just me and you, whatever you want." I smiled.

"Whatever I want?" She smirked.

"Within reason." I added.

"Awe." Amber sighed.

"So what do you wanna do?" I asked.

"Can we... go to Mega Monster Amusement Park? Please please please?" She pleaded.

"Of course we can. That sounds perfect."

"Yay!" Amber exclaimed.

We got ready and I flew her on my dragon to Mega Monster Amusement Park. Me and the team had saved that place from monster attacks so many times, they gave all of us and our families free passes for life, so admission wasn't a problem. I was really excited to spend the entire day with my daughter.

First we went to roller coaster. Amber was finally tall enough to ride it, that's probably why she wanted to come here. I for one never liked roller coasters all that much, but anything to spend the day with my daughter.

We went on the ride and Amber had fun, but I was really dizzy afterwards. So I suggested we get something to eat before we went on any more rides.

"So Amber, are you having fun?" I asked.

"Yeah Daddy, it's been awesome." Amber smiled.

"I'm glad. I'm having fun too." I smiled.

After we ate, we were walking past the carnival games and I won her a teddy bear. It only took me three tries, and 30 dollars I'm never getting back, but at least Amber was happy.

Then we went on the Ferris wheel. When we got to the top I looked out at the view and I could've sworn I saw someone familiar walking in the park. It was a little hard to see, but from where we were it almost looked like...
Garmadon?!

No that's impossible, that can't be Garmadon, can it? This was Mega Monster Amusement Park so there were always kids dressing up like monsters in costumes, but if this was a costume it was very convincing. Nya, Jay, Kira, and Cole said that they found out he was back in Ninjago, but why would he be here of all places?

The ninja inside me wanted to investigate but the father in me wanted to keep Amber safe. When it comes to the safety of my children, the father in me always wins.

When we got off the Ferris wheel, I kept a close eye on Amber and I was watching out for whoever I saw. I wanted to keep Amber safe, but if I went home and that was in fact Garmadon, he might follow me and put Skylor, Blake, and the baby in danger too. I couldn't do that to my family, especially to Skylor.

Chen was Skylor's father, and even though he was in the cursed realm now, Garmadon might still hold that grudge against him and take it out on her and her kids, which were my kids too. I doubt he remembered that, but I had to protect them just in case.

Amber needed to go to the bathroom so I was standing outside of the restrooms waiting on her. It was then I saw him. It was either a very experienced cosplayer, or that was definitely Garmadon.

I wanted to walk over there and confront him so bad, but I had Amber with me. If I ran after him and Amber walked out and didn't see me, she might wander off without me. This was a big place and I didn't want her to get lost.

Then Amber came back from the bathroom.

"Hey Kai." I heard a voice come from behind me.

"Don't touch her!" I screamed and tucked Amber behind me, but turned out it wasn't Garmadon, it was Dareth. "Oh sorry Dareth."

"That's alright, long time no see ninja." Dareth said.

As soon as he said ninja the guy I thought was Garmadon turned around and stared right at me. It definitely was Garmadon and he was about to make a run for it in the woods behind the park.

"Dareth, I have something I need to do, will you watch Amber for me please?" I asked.

"Of course, she's safe with the brown ninja." Dareth gloated.

"What's going on Daddy?" Amber sounded scared.

"It's ok sweetheart I'll be right back just stay with Dareth ok?" She nodded as I gave her a kiss on the forehead. "I love you."

Dareth took Amber and I started running towards Garmadon as fast as I could. Skylor was gonna kill me for leaving Amber with Dareth, but what she doesn't know won't kill her, and she wouldn't kill me hopefully.

I kept going after Garmadon. I followed him into the woods behind the park. He went pretty fast and I couldn't keep up. I had to catch my breath and then I saw something moving through the trees.

"Come on out and fight me Garmadon!" I shouted. "I know you're here!"

There was no response but I kept my guard up. All of sudden someone jumped out of the tree and landed on my back, pinning me to the ground. Then I looked up and they were running away. It took a few seconds for me to get up, so Garmadon got away. He wasn't going back towards the park, so at least Amber was safe.

My back was really sore, but I had to get back to Amber. I forced myself to get up and started to walk back. I finally got there and I saw Dareth and Amber there right where I left them safe and sound, which was a relief.

"Thanks for watching her Dareth." I said.

"It was no problem at all." Dareth said.

"I'd love to stay and talk, but we have to get going." I said taking Amber's hand. "Come on sweetie."

"Ok, bye Mr. Dareth." Amber said.

"Bye." Dareth waved.

"Ok, if your mom asks, you were with me the whole time." I whispered to her.

"Ok Daddy." She smiled.

"That's my girl." I gave her a high five.

I had a bit of trouble getting my dragon to spark up because of my back, but I finally got it and I was able to fly us back home without crashing thankfully. When I got home it felt even worse. Skylor and Blake were already there and we set down with them for dinner.

"Hey how did your day go?" Skylor asked.

"It was so much fun!" Amber exclaimed. "We went to Mega Monster Amusement Park."

"Sounds like fun you guys." Skylor smiled.

"Did your doctors appointment go ok?" I was curious.

"Yep, the baby and I are nice and healthy." Skylor told me.

"Is it a boy or a girl?" Amber asked excitedly.

"It's too early to know yet Amber, just have patience." Skylor told her.

"Aww ok." Amber sighed.

We continued with dinner and conversations, but all I could think about was my encounter with Garmadon. He definitely seemed like he was after something, or someone. I had to tell Lloyd and Kira about this and warn them.

If I kept quiet, then Ryder would probably be in danger and I would be held responsible. I knew that Lloyd was going through a lot right now because Nya told me that Kira was expecting a baby too. This would stress him out, but I had too tell them for Ryder's sake.

"Kai?" My wife called out to me. "Are you ok?"

"Oh uh yeah babe I'm fine." I assured her.

"If you say so." She said.

Once we were done with dinner, we cleaned up and Skylor and I gave the kids their baths and put them to bed. That was the perfect time to tell Lloyd, I couldn't bring myself to do it so I texted Nya:

Kai: Hey sis I need
your help.

Nya: Oh hey Kai. How
did the daddy-daughter
day with Amber go?

K: I took her to Mega
Monster Amusement
Park. It was all going
alright until I ran into
Garmadon.

N: Oh my First Spinjitsu
Master! You saw Garmadon?!
Are you and Amber ok?

K: Amber's fine, but I
tried to go after him
and I hurt my back.

N: Do you need me to
come over there and
take you to the hospital?

K: No thanks I'll be fine.
I was able to get Amber
home on my dragon so it
must not be too bad.

N: Do Lloyd and Kira
know about this?

K: I was hoping you
would help me with
that part please? 😊

N: WHAT?! You can't just
not tell them! He's Lloyd's
father, they deserve to
know so they can protect
Ryder! Plus Kira's got a
baby on the way!

K: I know I should tell them
but they're so stressed out
right now with the baby and
everything. Plus you're better
at this kinda stuff then I am.

N: Wait, so what
exactly happened?

K: I saw him run into the
woods and I followed him.
Then he tackled me to the
ground and that's how I
hurt my back.

N: You took Amber into
the woods when you knew
Garmadon was around? 😤

K: No, of course not. Dareth
was there so I let him watch
her for a second.

N: Oh sorry. Are you sure
your back is ok? I'd hate
for you to not be able to
take care of your family.

K: Yeah sis I'm fine.
Don't worry.

N: I'd feel better if you
at least got it checked
out. Just to be sure.

K: No sis I'm really ok. 🙂

N: I know you're scared
of the doctor, but if you
need to go, you need to go.

K: HEY! One: I'm NOT scared!
and two: I'm not a baby. I know
when I need to go to the doctor,
and this time I just don't feel
like I need to.

N: Fine, I'll come get you
in the morning and take
you to the hospital.

K: Sis I don't need
a hospital I'm fine.

N: I know, but I'll feel
better if you get it
checked out.

K: Fine I'll go, but just
to prove to you there's
nothing wrong.

N: Whatever floats
your fireproof boat. 🙄

K: Btw Thanks again for
watching Blake today.

N: Oh no problem. He had
a blast with the twins.

K: Great. See ya sis.

N: See in the morning

I was about to call Lloyd when Skylor came up me. I was sitting on the couch because I wanted to rest my back. It was still sore.

"Hey." Skylor said as she set down next to me.

"Oh hey babe." I tried to play it cool. "What's going on?"

"Nya told me about Garmadon." She said.

"How? I literally just finished talking to her!"

"She's a really fast texter." Skylor shrugged. "Let me take a look at your back real quick."

"No Skylor it's fine, Nya's just overreacting like she always does." I rolled my eyes and struggled to get up, but Skylor stopped me.

"Easy. Here let me help."

She leaned me off the back of couch and started to use Zane's ice powers that she got when she ran into Zane at the party. She eased her hand up and down my back using the powers and it felt so good.

"Is that better?" She asked.

"Oh yeah that feels good." I sighed with relief. "Thanks babe."

She lifted up my shirt to take a look at my back. As far as I could tell she didn't find anything wrong. But it did hurt when she touched it.

"OW!" I screamed.

"Sorry." Skylor apologized. "I really think you should get this looked at."

"Nya's taking me to the hospital in the morning." I said. "Will you and the kids be ok for a couple hours?"

"We should be alright by ourselves for a bit." She said.

"You sure?" I asked.

"Of course, it'll be fine."

Skylor helped me walk to the bedroom and she gave me some pain medication for my back. Then I decided I had to tell Lloyd. I really didn't want to stress him out, but I didn't have a choice.

Kai: Hey Lloyd I need to
tell you something but
you have to promise not
to freak out.

Lloyd: Oh no what
did you do now? 😑

K: It wasn't me this time.

L: Then what happened?

K: You see I was with Amber
at Mega Monster Amusement
Park and I saw Garmadon
there.

L: Wait my father? You saw
my father?! Are you sure?

K: Yes, I chased him down
but he tackled me and got
away. I'm so sorry Lloyd, I
couldn't keep up with him.

L: He tackled you? Are
you ok? Did he hurt
Amber?

K: Amber's fine, but my
back is really sore. Don't
worry, I should be fine.

L: Why would you take
Amber to chase after
my father?

K: Relax, I ran into Dareth
there so I had him watch her
while I went to investigate.

L: So wait, where did you
see him run off to?

K: Don't get any bright ideas!
You have a baby on the way.

L: Which is exactly why I
need to find him and make
sure he doesn't try anything.
Tell me now Kai! Where did
he go?

K: Fine, the last place I saw
him was the woods behind
Mega Monster Amusement
Park. I doubt he's still there.

L: So you let my
father get away?

K: Lloyd you know I'm not
as young as I used to be.
I'm really sorry.

L: It's alright, I'll just be
on the lookout for my
father. Thanks for the
warning.

K: It's not alright is it?

L: No not really. It's nothing
you did it's just, I can't believe
he attacked you. Are you sure
you're ok?

K: Yes I'm fine. If it makes
you feel better Nya's forcing
me to go to the hospital in
the morning.

L: You have such
a good sister!

K: Shut it 😑

L: Wait, aren't you
scared of doctors?

K: I'M NOT SCARED! 😤

L: Yes you are, you
just won't admit it.

K: Whatever, just don't
do anything stupid.

L: When have I ever
done anything stupid?

K: Really? How about the time
you released the serpentine
tribes? Or the time you robbed
Jamanikai Village of all their
candy? Or the time fought your
father on your own, lost your powers and almost died?

L: Ok ok, I get it. So
you're saying I can't
go after my father?

K: You're an adult, you can
make your own decisions,
but I don't want you to get
hurt again, especially since
Kira's expecting a baby.

L: Ok you're right. I hope
your back feels better.

K: Ok Thanks.

L: Bye.

K: Take care Lloyd.

I feel so bad about having to tell Lloyd about his father, but it had to be done. He doesn't like to admit it, but sometimes he can be more hotheaded than I am. I was worried he was gonna try to go after Garmadon alone. After what happened to him last time, I couldn't let that happen again.

Knowing Lloyd he was probably going to do that anyway. I would've offered to help but my back was still killing me and I wouldn't be much help. I just hope he knew what he was getting himself into. I hung up my phone and laid down next to Skylor. She kissed me good night and she went to sleep, but I couldn't sleep.

It wasn't because of my back, but it was because I was worried about Lloyd. I'm not really sure why I was worried about him, I just had a strange feeling that he was in danger. It was probably just seeing Garmadon again that was getting to my head. Eventually I decided it probably was nothing so I forced myself to fall asleep, I just hoped he didn't go after his father, that usually never ends well.
