'I promise. I promise. I promise.'

"Dada?" Ryder said.

"Yes son?" I asked.

"Why Mama so mean?" He frowned.

"Well son, she's been through a lot in her life and she's taking it out on you." I said. "Don't worry, no matter what happens I'll always look out for you."

"You promise?" He looked up at me.

"Promise." I smiled.

'I promise.'

*********Flashback**********

As soon as I put away my phone and heard Ryder screaming from his bedroom. I ran in to see what was wrong.

"Ryder?" I yelled barging into his room. "What's wrong? Are you ok?"

"S-she was there. I-in my head, she was trying to h-hurt me again." I saw tears in his eyes. I set down next to him.

"Ryder it's ok, just breath." I comforted him. "It was only a dream, she can't hurt you anymore."

"W-when she saw me cry, she just made it worse." He stuttered. "She made my life a living nightmare."

"You're a very brave little boy." I told him. "Look at it this way, if you can survive that, you can do anything. There's nothing you have to fear anymore."

"Really? You think I'm brave?" He questioned.

"Of course you are." I smiled. "I wish I was brave like that at your age."

"Thanks dad." He hugged me. "I feel better now."

"I'm glad I could help." I smiled.

******End of Flashback******

'Promise' The word kept echoing in my head.

I'm a terrible father. I made a promise to my son that I couldn't keep. I was trying my best to protect him, but I couldn't. I can't. She's too strong. Every time I rescue him, he's always going to end up being with her again. I can't protect him like I want to. And now that I'm going to have another baby soon, I won't be able to protect him or her either.

I've broken that promise so many times. I don't deserve to be alive today. Kira should've let me die, but she didn't. She didn't give up on me. When all hope was lost she risked everything to save me, and I need to do the same for her and Ryder. It's my own stupid fault they got into this situation, and I'm gonna get them out of it.

I was so lost in thought I almost lost control of my dragon. I somehow regained control before I crashed, but my head was still pounding in pain, so I decided to land and go the rest of the way on foot. I couldn't keep my focus and I was almost where Ryder's chip was leading me to anyway.

It lead me to the caves of despair. I couldn't just barge in, I had to come up with a plan. Most likely she's expecting me. Last time we were face to face she tried to kill me. Man I wish I would've brought at least some of the others with me. I shouldn't have been so prideful. I guess I just wanted to show my son that I could be the hero I told him I was, but I guess I should've put his safety first. My mistake.

Mistakes, that's all I do is make mistakes. And I'm not the only one who has to struggle with them, Ryder does too and it's not fair to him or Kira. Why did I think I was a normal person who could have a happy family? Obviously destiny has other plans.

"Lloyd snap out of it!" I whispered to myself. "Just go in there and show her who's boss! You can't afford to be afraid anymore. For Kira and Ryder's sake."

"Talking to yourself?" A voice said behind me. "How pathetic are you?"

"Harumi!" I turned around and pulled my sword and I slammed her into the wall of the cave. I wasn't holding back. "Where are they?!"

"You wouldn't kill me in front of my son, would you?" She pointed to a camera set up in the corner, meaning they were probably watching from a screen inside.

"HE'S MY SON! I'm done with your stupid games. Where are they?!" I demanded, holding the sword closer to her.

"Lloyd!" I heard someone screaming inside the cave. It sounded like Kira.

"Guess that answers my question." I snarled.

"You have to get to them first." She smirked as she blocked my way.

"If it wasn't for Ryder, I would kill you right now." I squinted my eyes. "Why would you torture your own son like that?"

"I wasn't, he did that to himself. He was constantly harming himself because he couldn't bare the thought of his father not being around." She explained. "I'm simply trying to take back what's mine and be the parent you never were."

"Shut up! I don't believe a single word that comes out of your mouth!" I screamed. I charged at her with my sword. "My son got seriously hurt because of you! He almost died because of you! It was you who made him go through years of pain and suffering, and if you think I'm going to let you get away with it, then you've got another thing coming!"

I charged at her with everything I had. She pulled out a knife and fought back. Neither one of us held anything back. As we neared the end of the fight, I was standing on the edge of the cliffs outside of the cave. Harumi kicked me in the ribs, so hard I heard something crack, and I found myself dangling off the edge.

"Harumi... p-please." I begged,

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of Ryder." She got this evil smirk on her face.

She stepped on my hand, making me scream in pain and I tumbled off the cliff towards the sea. I couldn't believe this was how I was going to die. I let my son down, I let the woman I love down, I let my unborn child down, and Harumi was gonna make them all suffer, and it was all my fault.

I tried to form my dragon, but I was too weak and my ribs hurt too much. I closed my eyes and prepared for the worst. There wasn't anything else I could do. Just before I was about to hit the sharp rocks over the water, I felt something catch me in the nick of time. I was so relieved that I passed out...

"Lloyd! Lloyd wake up!" I heard a voice say.

"Am I dead again?" I asked as I opened one eye. Everything was blurry for a few seconds before my vision cleared and I saw Nya in front of me with Cole and Zane standing next to her.

"Not today buddy." Cole smiled.

"What are you guys doing here?" I exclaimed.

"You didn't think we would actually let you come alone did you?" Nya smiled.

"Thanks guys. I owe you one." I smiled. I was actually relieved that they came, now I had a greater chance of getting Kira and Ryder back safely.

We had landed on a ledge near the cave where she wasn't able to see us. Nya helped me sit up and I groaned in pain. My ribs were in pretty bad shape and my hand felt sore. I could barely move it.

"Take it easy. You're hurt." Nya said.

"I'm fine." I lied.

"Where are they?" Cole asked.

"Ryder and Kira are in the cave." I told them as Nya helped me stand up. I was still clinching my ribs. "I have to get to them."

"Cole, Zane and I will hold her off, you go save them." Nya said.

"Yeah but won't she notice when I'm not in the fight?" I wondered.

"I've got that covered." Zane smiled. He used his cloaking function to make himself look like me. "There, now she won't even know it's not you." He said in my voice.

"Good thinking." I said. "Be careful, she's stronger than last time."

"You ok buddy?" Cole asked as he noticed I was clinching my ribs.

"No, but I will be once they're safe." I said. "Wait, how's Kai holding up?"

"A few of Kira's friends took him to the hospital after he passed out. They said he's gonna be fine." Nya said.

"Did he pass out from blood loss or was it the other thing?" I asked, referring to Skylor's pregnancy.

"The other thing." Nya giggled. "Now let's get my best friend back, and Ryder too."

"Let's do this!" I exclaimed. I had found my confidence again.

I was pretty sure that Harumi broke my ribs and maybe my hand when she kicked me off that cliff, but nothing was going to stop me from saving my family. The others were able to hold off Harumi long enough for me to sneak inside the cave. Luckily I was able to avoid all her traps and alarms. I walked in and I saw Ryder and Kira in a cage and I ran up to them.

"Lloyd." Kira whispered.

"D-daddy?" Ryder stuttered.

"Shhh." I shushed Ryder. "It's ok bud, we're gonna get you out of here. Are you guys alright?"

"I'm ok. Ryder hurt his knee a little but he should be fine." Kira whispered. "The cage is vingestone so my powers aren't working. Are you ok?"

"I will be once you two are safe." I said. "Now let's get you out of there."

I tried to break the lock but I was too weak and I still couldn't move my hand very much. I found a stick on the ground and I jammed it into the lock breaking it. Kira and Ryder ran and covered me in hugs. I was so happy they were ok, I didn't even care they were crushing my possibly broken ribs. That is until the pain got to be too much to bare.

"Ahh!" I groaned in pain and Ryder and Kira backed away.

"Are you hurt?" Kira asked.

I nodded as I clinched my sides. Kira helped me sit down on the ground so she could take a look at me.

"Here let me get you boys fixed up." She insisted.

Kira started to use her powers to heal my ribs and I was watching on the screen that showed the fight outside. As far as I could tell Harumi still had no idea that Zane was disguised as me, so we had a little time to regroup.

"I'm sorry Daddy." Ryder frowned as he set down next to me.

"It's ok bud, you have nothing to apologize for." I said ruffling his white hair. "I'm the one whose sorry."

"Why are you sorry?" He frowned.

"Because I let you down again." I frowned.

"No you didn't." He said. "I counted on you to save me and you did. You're a hero Daddy!"

"Ryder I'm so sorry." I frowned. "Can you ever forgive me?"

"Mhm." He nodded and smiled. "I love you Daddy."

"I love you too son." I smiled and gently pulled him into a hug. "I promise once this is all over we'll take you for ice cream ok?"

"Yay!" Ryder smiled.

Kira was able to heal Ryder's knee and my hand. But because she was pregnant and recently exposed to vingestone, her powers didn't work as well, so as hard as she tried she could only heal my ribs so much. They weren't a hundred percent, but they felt better.

"There. H-How do they feel now?" Kira asked, catching her breath. She looked tired and warn out. I was concerned for her and the baby.

"They're still a little sore but they feel a lot better." I answered honestly. "Thank you. Are you ok?"

"I-I'm sorry, I wish I could've helped more." She frowned and huffed. She put her hands back near my sides. "Here, l-let me try again."

"No please, save your strength." I said gently pushing her hands back towards her. "You've done enough. Plus I'm feeling a lot better now."

"You sure? I was only able to numb the pain for now, it could get worse if you're not careful." Kira said as she finally caught breath.

"Thanks but I'll be ok. I've been though worse." I said.

"Yeah I remember." Kira helped me to my feet. My ribs still hurt when I moved around, but the pain was more bearable. "Take it easy Lloyd."

"I'll be fine. Now come on, let's get you both out of here." I insisted.

"You're not going anywhere!" Harumi showed herself.

I looked up at the screen and saw the three ninja exhausted and Zane had his cloaking function turned off. They must've been too overwhelmed by her, but at least they bought us some time.

I immediately picked Ryder up and put him in Kira's arms. "Kira, take Ryder and meet with the others outside. I'll take care of this."

"Ok, be careful." Kira said.

"Good luck." Ryder said.

"Your father doesn't believe in luck." Harumi told him.

"I know, I wasn't talking to him." Ryder smirked.

"That's my boy." I giggled.

Kira got Ryder to safety and I took out my sword, ready to fight Harumi and this time she was gonna stay down. I was gonna make sure she did. Nobody treats my son like that!

We fought each other and she had the upper hand. At one point I fell and I couldn't get back up. Harumi was about to kill me, but rolled out of the way and forced myself to get back up.

While she was caught off guard, I took my sword and threw her back into the wall. I had finally knocked her out. I limped over and I held my sword to her chest. I wanted to finish the job so badly, but I hesitated.

I wanted her to die so bad. I wanted her to suffer like she made me and Ryder suffer. But I couldn't do it. She wasn't able to defend herself in her condition and I know she hurt my family, but my father would be disappointed in me if I ended things like this. As much as I wanted to jab my sword through her heart, this wasn't fair. If I killed her now, then I'm no better than she is and what kind of example would that set for my son?

I was about to pick her up and carry her when she woke up and grabbed my arm.

"You should've killed me when you had the chance." She squinted her eyes.

She stood up and I used my spinjitsu to try and knock her out but my ribs wouldn't hold out and I dropped to my knees in pain.

"Awe, poor thing." She said sarcastically. "I thought you knew me better than that."

"W-why are you doing this?" I struggled.

"It'll all make sense soon enough."

I was too weak to move. She stuck her arm behind my neck and I felt a sharp pain piercing through it. I screamed and was about to black out, when I heard the police sirens outside. I fought the pain and tackled her to the ground until the commissioner took over.

"Harumi, you are being charged with child abuse, kidnapping, and the attempted murder of Lloyd Garmadon, again." The commissioner said.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS YOU LITTLE...!"

"Also cursing in front of a child." The officer added.

The officer started to take her away.

"Don't worry, we will make extra sure she won't get out again." The officer told me.

"Thank you." I sighed with relief.

I let myself pass out...

I woke up in the hospital with Kira right beside me. I was feeling a lot better. I set up and Ryder immediately ran to me.

"Daddy!" He screamed.

"Hey bud." I smiled. "Don't worry, I'm ok."

"Ryder, go easy on your father now." Kira said.

"Oh sorry Mommy." Ryder apologized.

"Kira it's ok. I'm feeling better." I said. "Sorry you have to keep saving my life."

"I'm a nurse, that's my job." She laughed.

"How long have I been out?" I asked.

"Just a couple hours this time." She answered. "Your ribs might be sore for a little while, but if you take it easy for the next few days you should be ok."

"Thanks doc." I giggled. "I'm so sorry our wedding got ruined, I promise I'll make it up to you."

"Don't worry about that right now. Just rest." Kira insisted.

"Then she isn't my mommy yet?" Ryder frowned.

"Well I am if you want me to be." Kira said.

"Wait I have an idea." Ryder said.

He pulled Kira closer to me on the bed and made us hold hands with each other. We were a bit confused but we went with it.

"Do you agree to be my mommy?" Ryder asked Kira.

"I do." Kira said.

"And do you promise to always be my Daddy?" He asked me.

"I do." I smiled.

"I now pronounce you my mommy and my daddy." Ryder smiled. "You may kiss each other."

We knew it wasn't an official wedding, but who were we to disappoint him? Kira leaned over and kissed me on the lips and Ryder clapped his hands. Then I remembered something.

"Kira, should we tell him now?" I asked.

"Tell me what?" Ryder asked.

Kira and I looked at each other and she nodded.

"Well bud, pretty soon you're gonna be a big brother." I said.

"Really?" His eyes lit up and he started jumping up and down. "YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!"

"Alright bud, let me make sure your daddy's alright and then we'll stop for ice cream on the way home. Ok?" Kira told him.

"Ok." He said.

Kira helped me out of bed and my ribs were pretty sore but it was nothing I couldn't handle. I also still had this sharp pain in my neck, but I thought it was nothing so I ignored it.

I was discharged from the hospital and then we got Ryder that ice cream I promised. Honestly I'm just glad I didn't let Ryder down this time.
