Kai's P.O.V:

I was at Zane's with Skylor and the kids. We had all been called off work because Zane told us he had a way to cure Lloyd and he needed our help. My sister and her family were here with us along with Cole and Allison. Misako and Ryder were here but Kira wasn't.

"Zane, what is this about?" Cole asked him.

"Lloyd said that Harumi injected him with a venom that was turning him into an Oni." Zane explained. "I initially thought this was not treatable, but with a little help from Alex, I think we may have discovered a cure."

"Then just get the cure and give it to him." Jay shrugged.

"It's not that simple Jay." Zane continued. "In order to make the antidote to cure him we need the five staffs of the ancient serpentine tribes."

"Those things disappeared years ago." I remarked. "There's no telling where they could be now."

"What about Skales? Surely he has one." Nya remembered.

"Good idea." Zane agreed. "We should pay Skales a visit."

"I bet our old friend Pythor knows something too." Jay said clasping his fist together.

"Guys, think about it." Cole said. "Every time an old artifact disappears, where does it usually end up?"

"Ronin!" We all realized at once.

"Wait, weren't they all the museum?" Skylor asked.

"The Constrictai and Fangpire staffs are." Pixal answered.

So then we decided on a plan. I would head to Stixx to see Ronin, Jay and Nya would go visit Skales, Cole would go to Kryptarian and see what he get out of Pythor, and Pixal would go to the museum. Zane decided to stay here so he could have everything ready to make the cure for Lloyd as soon as we got the staffs. Misako and Skylor agreed to stay and keep an eye on the kids for everyone.

With the plan in motion, I said goodbye to my kids and Skylor. Then I started heading to Stixx on my dragon. I had gotten a few stitches from the incident last week at the wedding. The doctors said that I could only form my dragon if it was an emergency. Well saving Lloyd's life was an emergency in my book.

Skylor offered to go in my place, but I didn't want her to fly her dragon all the way to Stixx with that baby coming. According to her dragons aren't the easiest thing to control when you're expecting a baby, especially for long periods of time.

After about an hour of flying I finally reached Ronin's pawn shop in Stixx. I landed my dragon and it disappeared. I was a bit more tired than usual and my side was aching a little, but otherwise I was fine.

I was about to walk in to the shop when I saw a person dressed all in black leave the shop with the serpentine staff in his hands. I was too late.

"Hey! Stop!" I yelled.

The figure started running really fast towards the street traffic in the city. I chased him a little ways, but with my side started hurting again and eventually I lost him. I stopped and caught my breath, clinching my side.

There was no way I was going to be able to form my dragon until I rested a little, so I decided to see Ronin anyway.

"Hi Ronin." I said walking into the shop.

"Hi Kai. What can I do ya for?" Ronin asked.

"Well do you by any chance have a serpentine staff on your hands?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

"Sorry, that costumer took the only one I had." Ronin said. "What do you need something like that for?"

"Because Lloyd is in trouble." I explained.

"Isn't that ninja always in trouble?" Ronin joked.

"Yeah, but this is different, he..."

"DADDY!!!" A young girl ran into the shop.

"Hey Jaz!" Ronin said as the girl jumped into her arms. "Ready for a fun weekend with Daddy?"

"Yay!" The little girl screamed.

I knew that Ronin had a daughter a few years before Amber was born. He and his ex-wife Penny split six years ago, but they left things on good terms and they shared custody of their only daughter.

"Have fun this weekend sweetie." Penny yelled into the shop.

"Bye bye Mommy." Jazmine waved before Penny walked out the door.

"Hey Jaz why don't you go unpack and then I'll take you out to lunch ok?" Ronin said to his daughter.

"Ok Daddy." Jazmine said as she ran into the back room.

"Wow, last time I saw Jazmine she had just started walking." I said.

"Yep, she's gonna be nine next month." Ronin smiled. "How are your kids doing?"

"Amber and Blake are doing great, and their gonna have a new little brother or sister soon." I said.

"Must be exciting." Ronin said.

"Yeah it is." I smiled.

"Well I'm about to go on my lunch break with Jazmine, so unless you're gonna buy something then..."

"Say no more, I should probably be getting back anyway." I said. "Have fun."

"Thanks, we will. Hope you find what you're looking for." Ronin said.

"Me too." I said leaving the shop.

As I was walking out the door my side starting hurting again. I stopped and groaned in pain.

"Hey are you ok?" Ronin asked.

"Yeah I'm good, just recovering from something that happened last week." I told him. "Nothing to worry about."

"If you say so." He dismissed.

I took a few seconds and then I left. I tried to form my dragon but it hurt too much. I thought about calling someone to come pick me up, but that would compromise the mission even more if they couldn't get their staffs too. I just hope that they were fairing better than me.

Nya's P.O.V.:

Jay and I were in the sewers of Ninjago City trying to see if we could borrow his staff so we could cure Lloyd.

"I forgot how smelly it was down here." Jay said pinching his nose closed.

"Well if the only way to cure Lloyd is that staff, then we have to get it." I told him.

We approached the hypnobri headquarters and they were running around panicked about something.

"Calm down everyone! No onessss in any danger." We saw Skales walking towards us.

"Skales, what's going on here?" Jay asked him.

"My ssssstaff hassss been sssstolen and these sssnakes are overreacting." Skales rolled his eyes. "We barely even ussse it any more."

"Stolen? By who?" I asked.

"We don't know." Skales shrugged. "We honestly never thought we needed a security system down here in the sewers."

"Yeah, who'd wanna rob this place?" Jay said.

"Jay, don't be rude!" I yelled.

"Oh that'ssss quite alright. We thought the ssssame thing." Skales said. "Why did you guyssss come all thissss way?"

"We were actually wondering if could borrow your staff to help a friend of ours, but I guess we got here too late." I frowned.

"If you can recover the ssstaff then  you are welcome to ussse it, jussst bring it back when you're done. Deal?" Skales said.

"Ok." I agreed. "Is there any evidence of who took it?"

"You're welcome to check out the crime sssscene." Skales said pointing us towards the artifact room.

"We'll take you up on that." I said.

Jay and I walked into the room and saw where the staff had been taken out of the case. The rest of the artifacts were completely untouched, almost as if the thief broke in, took the staff and left.

"Oh of course they only took the one thing we needed." Jay complained.

"It seems weird that they took exactly what we needed when we needed it." I thought.

"What are you thinking?" Jay asked.

"I'm saying that this was too big to be a coincidence."

"So are you saying that someone else is trying to help Lloyd?" Jay asked.

"Or it's someone trying to prevent us from helping him by getting the staffs before we do." I realized.

"Maybe we should have Cole make sure that Harumi's still in prison." Jay suggested. "If anyone would do that it's her."

"Good idea." I agreed. "I hope he hasn't gotten himself into too much trouble."

Cole's P.O.V.:

I arrived at Kryptarian Prison to see what kind of dirt I could dig up on Pythor and the staff. I walked inside and visited Pythor in his cell. Jay said it was very important that stay under the radar so that Harumi didn't know I was here, or more importantly what we were doing.

"What bringssss you here black one?" He asked crossing his arms.

"Alright Pythor, I need to know where that staff is." I demanded.

"Oh that sssstaff? I lossst that thing yearssss ago." He told me.

"So you don't know where it is?" I asked.

"They confissscated it when they arrested me." He explained. "You're actually not the first to asssk me about it today."

"Please don't tell it was Harumi. She can't know anything about this."

"Not her, ssssomeone who wasss here to vissssit me." Pythor explained. "He wasss wearing a black cloak that wasss covering hisss face. Hisss voiccce sssounded sssomewhat familiar."

"I need to talk to the commissioner." I said panicked.

I ran to the commissioner's office and I asked him about the staff. He said that he had it in the evidence vault and once I explained the rather pressing situation he was more than happy to take me to it, but once we got there, the staff was gone.

"I'm sorry we didn't find what you were looking for, but we have a situation at the museum." The commissioner said. "They got robbed last night."

"Oh no, Pixal's there right now." I said.

"She probably isn't in any danger, but we'll give you a ride if you like."

"That sounds great. Thank you." I said.

I hoped in the front of the commissioner's car and rode over to the museum with him. I hoped Pixal was having better luck than I was.

Pixal's P.O.V.:

I arrived at the museum only to find a police car outside. I decided to take my Samurai X suit for a mission like this. I walked over to the officer.

"What happened here?" I asked him.

"Someone broke into the ancient serpentine exhibit." The officer explained.

"Is everyone alright?" I asked.

"No one was hurt but it was strange. The security guard on duty didn't even see the guy before he escaped." He said.

"Can you tell me what was stolen?" I wanted to know.

"Only the two serpentine staffs we had on display." He sighed. "He didn't touch anything else."

"Thank you for your time." I sighed and walked away. I saw Cole walking towards me. "Cole? What are you doing here?"

"I came with the police." He explained. "Any luck?"

"No, they took the staffs." I sighed. "Did you get yours?"

"No it was stolen before I could get it." Cole frowned. "Jay texted me earlier and told me the same thing happened to him and Nya."

"Have you heard from Kai?" I asked.

"Now that you mention it, I haven't." Cole said. "I'm going to give him a call."

"Ok."

He took out his phone and put it up to his ear.

"Hey Kai, did you get the staff?" He said into the phone. "Someone got it before you?" ... "Ok well Jay and Nya, Pixal and me couldn't get ours either so you might as well come back." ... "Why not?" ... "Oh I forgot about that." ... "Alright just hang in there buddy, I'll come get you." ... "See you later."

"What was that about?" I asked.

"Kai can't form his dragon so now I have to go to Stixx and pick him up." Cole said. "He didn't get his staff either."

"My mech is faster." I said. "I will go to Stixx and pick him up, you should return and find out what the new plan is."

"Ok, thanks." Cole said.

Cole formed his dragon and headed back to our place and then I flew in my mech to pick up Kai. I wondered why he could not get his dragon working. Perhaps it has something to do with his recent injury.

I arrived in Stixx and I saw Kai sitting on a bench waving me down. I landed in front of him.

"Hey Pixal, I am so happy to see you." Kai exclaimed.

"Cole sent me." I told him as I got out of the mech. "Why can you not form your dragon?"

"My side hurt when I flew here and I didn't think I could make it back." Kai admitted.

"Well you made the right choice." I said as I scanned him. "You could not have made it in your current state."

"I just wish I wasn't going back empty handed." He frowned.

"We all are." I frowned. "I'll explain on the way."

"Ok, let's get back." He stood up and started clinching his side. "Ow!"

"Easy." I told him.

I helped him onto my mech and flew off to our place. Kai was a little uncomfortable from the movement of the ride, but we both made it back in one piece.

Kai's P.O.V.:

Pixal landed outside her and Zane's lab and then she helped me inside. Everyone else was already there, and not one of them had a single staff. The mission was a total waste.

"Kai, are you ok? Cole told me about what happened." Skylor worried.

"I'm alright, I just pushed myself a little too hard." I told her as she helped me sit down in a chair.

"Daddy!" Amber and Blake screamed running into the room.

"Hey kiddos!" I smiled and pulled them both into my lap. "Were you good for your mom and miss Garmadon today?"

"Yes they were." Skylor laughed.

"Where's my daddy grandma?" Ryder asked Misako.

"He won't be back for a few more days, but he can't wait to see you again." She told him.

"Awe." Ryder frowned.

"Hey kids, why don't you all come in the kitchen and I'll make you all some snacks ok?" Nya offered to all the kids.

"Yay!" They all followed Nya into the kitchen and Misako went to give Nya a hand.

"Seriously, how is she so good at that?" Jay asked frustrated.

"So none of you got the staffs?" Zane frowned.

All of us frowned and looked at each other. We all knew that we hadn't found them.

"Well you see..."

"It's ok, Cole explained everything." Zane cut me off. "This was no one's wrong doing."

All of a sudden there was a knock at the door. Me and Zane got up and answered it. When we opened it we saw something unbelievable. It was Garmadon holding not one, but all five serpentine staffs in his four arms.

"Drop those staffs!" I demanded.

"Please, they are the only thing that can cure my son." He begged. "This was the only place I knew to take them."

"Wait, you want to help Lloyd?" I was confused.

"I'll explain later, but you, Nindroid." He looked at Zane, shoving the five staffs in his hands. "You have to make the antidote before the venom takes control of Lloyd."

"Consider it done." Zane said with no hesitation.

Garmadon tried to follow Zane inside but we had his grandson, six other kids, his ex-wife, and my pregnant wife in there. I didn't want him anywhere near my wife and kids.

"I don't think so." I used my body to block the doorway and gave him a serious look.

"Please, I've seen Lloyd he's in danger." He continued. "I just want to make sure my grandson doesn't go through the same thing he did."

"You know about his son?" I asked as I loosened up a bit.

"He told me everything."

He started explaining to me everything that Lloyd had said to him. I didn't want to believe him, but I couldn't deny anything he told me. He knew about Harumi and what she had done, he knew about Ryder, about Kira, about their baby and what happened at the wedding. He knew too much to be a coincidence.

"Kai!" I heard Nya shouting. "We got it!"

"Ok look, I believe you saw Lloyd but we have a job to do. Thank you for bringing us the staffs but we'll take it from here."

"Just help my son." He looked me with a sincere frown.

"We will." I said.

I closed the door and locked it. Then I ran back inside.

"Kai, we can cure him!" Nya exclaimed. "We have the antidote!"

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go give it to him." I insisted.

"I am afraid it is not that simple Kai." Zane frowned. "The venom extract must enter the blood stream directly through an IV."

"Ok but where do we get one of those." Nya asked.

"We need to go to Ninjago City hospital and see if we can borrow some equipment." Pixal said.

"Alright then let me call Kira." Misako said as she carried Ryder into the room.

"Can I talk to Mama K too?" Ryder asked. Sometimes he would call Kira that.

"Of course you can, just let me tell her about something first, ok."

Ryder nodded and Misako took out her phone.

Kira's P.O.V.:

I was in the treehouse with Lloyd just buying time until the ninja were ready with the antidote for Lloyd. I know it was technically a mission but it was kind of nice to have this time with my husband. Just talking about our plans for the future and names for the baby.  I was trying to do my best to distract him from the pain he was in. Laughter is the best medicine after all.

Then I got a call from Misako. Lloyd looked at me.

"You get service all the way out here?" He questioned.

"Yeah, I built a cell tower on top of the treehouse. You can't see it from the ground." I explained.

"Wow that's cool." He said. "Who's calling?"

"Your mother, I better take this." I told him.

"Is it ready yet?"

"I don't know. Maybe." I said.

I put the phone next to my ear. "Hello?"

"Hi we got the antidote, but we need you to take Lloyd and meet us at the hospital so we can give it to him." Misako said over the phone.

"Alright." I said, trying not to be too specific for Lloyd's sake.

"Grandma! Grandma! Let me say hi!" I heard Ryder demand.

"In a minute sweetie." Misako told him.

"It's ok, I'm sure Lloyd wants to talk to Ryder. Right Lloyd?" I looked over at him.

He nodded and got this big smile on his face. I put the phone on speaker and told Misako to hand it to Ryder.

"Hi Mommy!" Ryder said.

"Hi Ryder." I smiled. "Have you been good for your grandma?"

"Mhm." He said happily.

"Hey bud." Lloyd said.

"D-Daddy?" Ryder questioned. "Is that you?"

"Yep it's me." Lloyd said.

"I came to help him during his mission." I lied and winked at Lloyd, letting him know what our cover was. "That way he'll be able to come home sooner."

"Yay!" Ryder screamed. "I missed you very much Daddy."

"I miss you too bud, I'll be home soon ok?" He said.

"Ok." Ryder sounded happier. "I love you Daddy."

"I love you too Ryder." He smiled. "Be good."

"I will." He said a little grumpily.

"We'll be home soon ok?" I told him.

"Both of you?" He questioned.

"Yes son. Both of us." Lloyd smiled and put his arm around me.

"Yay! I'm gonna get grandma to make chocolate covered bananas when you come home. Those are Daddy's favorite." He said.

"I think we can make that work." I heard Misako say in the background.

"I'm looking forward to it." Lloyd laughed. "I gotta go now bud, but I'll be home soon. I love you."

"I love you too Daddy." He said. "See you soon."

"Bye Ryder." I said.

"Bye Mommy!" He said. "I love you!"

"I love you too son." I smiled. That was the first time he's ever said that to me since the wedding.

"Hey bud, can you hand the phone back to Grandma please?" Lloyd asked.

"Sure daddy." He said.

He handed the phone back to Misako. I kept the phone on speaker.

"Hello?" Misako said into the phone.

"Hey Mom." Lloyd said.

"Lloyd? Are you ok? Where have you been?" She asked frantically.

"Mom calm down, I'm ok." He said. "Kira took really good care of me."

"I'm glad." She sighed with relief.

"I hope Ryder hasn't been to much for you." Lloyd said. "Sorry to dump him on you and Kira like that."

"Oh he's been no problem at all." She said.

"I can't wait to come home." Lloyd said.

"I can't wait to have you home." Misako said.

"See you soon Mom, bye." Lloyd said hanging up.

I looked at Lloyd and noticed how much he was smiling. I was smiling too.

"Wow, Ryder said he loved me." I smiled.

"Of course he does." Lloyd smiled. "You're amazing at being a mom."

"Yeah but it's different." I sighed. "Ryder's six, he's able to tell me how he's feeling and what he needs. The baby won't be able to do that. I don't know if I'll be any good at it."

"Hey you're gonna pick it up." Lloyd comforted me. "Besides when Ryder was born I had to do everything from changing his diapers to burping him. I'll be there the whole time."

"Thanks." I kissed him on the cheek. "Alright, are you ready to go to the hospital so we can cure you?"

"Yeah but how are we going to get there? We can't form our dragons." He frowned.

"I can be of assistance." We heard someone brake into the treehouse.

I turned around and saw Garmadon standing in the doorway. Lloyd and I just stared at each other not sure what to say.
