If Everything Goes to Plan
Nya's P.O.V.:
After what Lloyd told me what had been happening, I was pretty worried about Kira. Second trimester is not fun by itself, but with what's happening with Lloyd, it sounds like she's a little overwhelmed.
>>>>>>Nya's phone<<<<<<
Nya: Hey Kira. How is it going?
Kira: I don't have a lot of
time to talk. I'm on my
break at work.
N: I can text you back
later if you want.
K: It's fine, this is the only
time I have today really.
N: Sounds like you're
pretty busy.
K: I am. 😩 After work I have to take
Lloyd to therapy and then I have a
doctors appointment for my wrist
and then another one for the baby
right after and to make things worse
I have to take Ryder with me.
N: Why?
K: Because Misako doesn't stay
up that late and Lloyd's not in
any condition to watch him by
himself.
N: If you want you can drop him
off here and he can sleep over
with the twins tonight.
K: I don't have time to pick
him up in the morning. I'm
working a double tomorrow.
N: Why do you keep working
double shifts if you are that
busy? Being on your feet that
much isn't good for the baby.
K: Because we're understaffed at
the hospital. There aren't enough
nurses to care for the patients we
have and I don't want to let them
down. They need me.
N: Well I can take Ryder
home too. Free of charge.
K: I don't want to put you out.
N: You're not, I want to do this
for you. Besides, all the twins
have been talking about is their
birthday party so they need
something else to do.
K: Alright, I guess Ryder will have
more fun there than at doctors
with me. Thank you.
N: Of course. Anytime.
How is the baby doing?
K: Hanging in there. In a few
weeks I won't be able to drive
so I'm trying to get all my
appointments done now.
N: Well if you need me to drive
you, Ryder or Lloyd anywhere
I'd be happy to help.
K: Thank you but I'll work
it out. I gotta clock back in
so I'll see you tonight.
N: Ok, see ya!

I put my phone up and I got out of bed. I went down to the kitchen and Jay had breakfast and a cup of coffee waiting for me.
"Morning." Jay smiled at me.
"What's this for?" I looked at the plate of bacon and eggs.
"Can't a husband do something nice for his wife once in a while?" Jay smiled.
"What do you want?" I smiled and looked at him.
"Fine." He sighed. "The movie is going to Shintaro for some on location filming and I'm gonna be gone for a couple days."
"That's not so bad. When are you leaving?"
"The day after the party." He frowned. "I don't want to be away from you and the twins, but they're paying us overtime for this."
"It's ok Jay, it's your job." I smiled. "I'll miss you like crazy but I'm happy for you."
"My dad said that he'll pay for accommodations if you and the kids want to come with me." Jay said.
"To Shintaro? Really?"
"Yeah, I know you've always wanted to go there and we haven't been able to afford it so it might be nice."
"That sounds wonderful but I told you, you don't need to impress me with fancy things and expensive trips."
"I'm not trying to impress you, I'm just trying to give you something you've always wanted."
"I don't know, Kira and Lloyd are really struggling and I promised I would help them out."
"It's only a one day shoot, just a quick weekend and we'll be back before we know it." Jay said. "I'm not saying you have to go, but it might be nice."
"I'll think about it." I told him and started eating. "Thank you."
"So how is Lloyd doing?" Jay asked me.
"He's recovering, but it sounds like he's gonna be laid up for a while." I sighed. "I just talked to Kira this morning."
"How is she doing?"
"She said it was fine, but I don't believe her." I sighed. "She's working a lot more than she should be and taking care of Lloyd is hard on her."
"Weren't you going to see Lloyd this afternoon."
"Yeah, I guess I have to go get Ryder now anyway."
"Well, I have work but tell them I said hi." Jay kissed my cheek.
"I will." I smiled.
"Daddy!" Lily and Jax ran from the bedroom.
"Aww hey kiddos!" Jay pulled them into a hug.
"Do you have to go to work Daddy?" Lily looked at him.
"Sorry squirt, I have to." Jay frowned. "But I'll be home as soon as I can. Ok?"
"Besides guys we're going to Ryder's house today, remember?" I said.
"Yay!" Jax screamed. He always got excited when he hung out with Ryder.
"Can we go now?" Lily asked.
"As soon as you both get dressed." I said.
The kids both ran off to their room to get ready to go. I couldn't help but laugh.
"How you make it look so easy I'll never know." Jay laughed and kissed my cheek. "See you later honey. I love you."
"Love you too." I smiled.
He left and walked out the door. To be honest, I thought that a vacation would be perfect, but at the same time I was worried about my friend so I needed to make sure she was ok first.
The kids ran out of the room fully dressed and had all of their stuff ready. I got them both in the car and headed for Lloyd's. I didn't want Kira to know what I was doing because Lloyd and I were going to try and shorten her schedule so she could take a day off. She wouldn't listen if she tried it any other way, so we had to do it like this.
I arrived at the monastery and knocked on the door. Surprisingly Lloyd answered. He looked like he could barely stand up.
"Hey Nya." He said smiling.
"Hey Lloyd, are you feeling better?"
"I'm hanging in there." He looked at the kids. "Hey Jax and Lily. Ryder's got the game console all set up in his room if you want to play."
The kids ran right in and bolted upstairs. I saw Lloyd leaning on the doorframe and keeping his ankle off the floor. He looked like he was in a lot of pain.
"You want some help?" I asked.
"No thanks, I got it."
I watched Lloyd trail along the walls, groaning with every step he took. Despite what he said, I went next to him and helped him walk to the couch.
"Nya, I told you I didn't need help." Lloyd said.
"I know, but I couldn't watch that anymore." I said as I helped him sit on the couch. "You shouldn't really be on your feet."
"You're here to take care of Ryder, not me. remember?"
"I can do both." I shrugged. "Where's your mom?"
"She's at a meeting with the explorer's club." He told me. "She didn't want to go but I convinced her. She really needed a break from taking care of me."
"Glad I came over when I did." I said. "It looks like you're having trouble getting around the house."
"I'm fine, I'll be back to normal before you know it."
"I'm sure you will be, but not as soon as you think."
Lloyd sighed. "I'm just hope that happens before the baby gets here."
"Well being on your feet is the opposite of speeding up the recovery process." I told him.
"I live with a nurse, I know that." Lloyd rolled his eyes and tried to get up again.
"Woah, what are you doing?" I made him sit back down.
"What? I'm hungry." He shrugged.
"Well I can make you a sandwich."
"No thanks, I'm fine."
"But you just said you were hungry?"
"I did?" He was confused.
"How hard did you hit your head?" I asked.
"That was weeks ago." He said.
"Lloyd, it was four days ago." I told him.
"Was it?" He held his head. "I guess I don't remember."
"I should probably take you to the hospital."
"No, you can't." Lloyd frowned. "Kira will freak if I come there again and she has enough on her plate already."
"Well memory loss is probably not a good sign for someone who just had a concussion."
"It's probably just a side effect of the medication I'm taking." Lloyd said. "It's no big deal."
"You and Kira really are made for each other." I said to myself.
Lloyd kept holding his head and gritting his teeth. I heard the sound of children fighting from the upstairs bedroom, specifically my children of course. Lloyd tried to stand up but he couldn't move.
"Don't even think about it, I got it." I set him back down.
I ran upstairs and entered Ryder's room.
"Everything ok up here?" I asked.
"Jax cheated!" Lily shouted.
"I didn't cheat, I beat you!" Jax yelled back.
"Kids, If you can't get along, you'll have to find something else to do. Now I want no more fighting, ok?"
"Yes mommy." Both of them sighed.
"Thanks aunt Nya." Ryder said.
"Of course Ryder." I smiled.
I walked back downstairs and Lloyd wasn't on the couch. I kept looking and found him in the kitchen leaning on the fridge.
"Lloyd, what are you doing?"
"I was trying to make lunch for Ryder and the twins." He frowned.
"You can barely walk." I said helping him to the table. "You need to take it easy."
"I'm fine." He coughed.
"Here, you take a seat. I'll do it."
He sighed and finally set down. I made him and everyone else some sandwiches.
"So I talked to Kira earlier and since she's gonna be busy, I thought Ryder could spend the night with us tonight. That way she won't have to take him with her to the doctor tonight." I told him.
"Why? I can take care of him." Lloyd insisted.
"I know, but it will take some of the stress off Kira if she knew he was with me. Then she wouldn't worry as much about you."
"Yeah, I guess that's best." Lloyd frowned.
"Don't worry, you'll be back to your old self soon." I assured him.
"I hope so, Kira has barely gotten any sleep since this happened and I feel like I'm just a burden to her now."
"She wants to take care of you because she loves you, not because you're a burden." I told him.
"But it seems like all she does is work and take care of me."
"She's practicing to be a good mom." I told him. "I remember when I was pregnant with the twins and Jay got really sick. My maternal instincts kicked in so much I wouldn't eat or sleep, the only thing I would do was make sure I was taking care of him."
"Really?"
"Yeah, and I ended up in the hospital because I wasn't taking care of myself."
"So you're saying that she's not taking care of herself because she wants to be a good mom?"
"Exactly." I nodded. "Once you're back on your feet I'm sure she'll snap back."
"I just hope it's not too late when that happens."
"Daddy?" Ryder came into the room, Jax and Lily were behind him.
"What's up bud?" Lloyd looked at him.
"I'm hungry." Ryder looked at his stomach.
"Don't worry Ryder, I made you all some sandwiches." I said putting his food on the table.
"Thanks Auntie Nya." He smiled and set down.
"Thanks Mom." Lily and Jax set down next to him.
The kids sat down and started eating their sandwiches. A few minutes later we heard someone walk through the door.
"That's probably my mom." Lloyd said.
"Lloyd?" We heard Kira call us.
"Mama K!" Ryder screamed.
"In here Kira!" Lloyd shouted.
Kira came into the kitchen and she looked absolutely exhausted. She looked at me confused.
"Nya?" Kira looked at me. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to help Lloyd watch Ryder and Jay was working today so I brought the kids with me." I explained. "I hope that's ok."
"Of course." Kira nodded. "You're always welcome here."
"Why are you back so early? I thought your shift wasn't over for a few more hours." Lloyd asked.
"Oh, the baby has been kicking all day and I had another contraction earlier so they sent me home." She held her stomach and set down.
"The baby kicks you?" Ryder looked at her.
"Yes but that just means she's healthy and growing right." Kira smiled. "It's what they're supposed to do."
"Oh, ok." Ryder kept eating.
"Can you take maternity leave yet?" Lloyd asked.
"I can if I want to but the hospital is really understaffed." She sighed. "Those patients need me."
"Are you hungry? I'd be happy to make you a sandwich." I offered.
"Thanks but..."
"Yes, she'll take one. Thanks Nya." Lloyd interrupted.
Kira sighed and nodded and I made her a sandwich. By the way she chowed down on it I figured she hadn't eaten all day. When she was done she yawned.
"Kira, you can barely keep your eyes open." Lloyd noticed. "Maybe you should get some rest."
"I can't, you have your physical therapy session in a few hours and then I have to go to my appointments."
"If you want to sleep I don't mind driving him." I said.
"Yeah, and I can take a cab home." Lloyd nodded.
"Are you sure?" Kira looked at him.
"Yes, I'll be fine. You need to stop taking care of me and think about what the baby needs too. Ok?"
"Ok, but I should at least change your bandages first."
"I got it." Lloyd assured her. "You just go lay down for a little while."
"Thank you." She sighed with relief.
She gave Lloyd a quick kiss on the cheek and went to her bedroom.
"Is Mama K ok?" Ryder looked at Lloyd.
"She's fine bud, she's just tired." Lloyd told him.
"Can I do anything to help?" Ryder asked.
"That's very sweet Ryder but all she needs is a little peace and quiet so she can rest." I said.
"Ok." Ryder said. "Can we at least get her a present to make her feel better?"
"I think that's a great idea." Lloyd smiled. "And I think I have something in mind. You want to help me with it?"
"Yeah!" Ryder smiled.
"What were you thinking Lloyd?" I asked.
"I've been meaning to turn one of the guest rooms into a nursery for the baby, but that was before the accident." He frowned. "I ordered all the furniture but I still have to set it up and paint it all."
"I don't think the guys are doing anything tomorrow, what if we invite them here to help set it up?"
"That sounds perfect." Lloyd smiled.
"Awesome, we'll all get together tomorrow and surprise her when she gets home from work." I smiled.
A few hours past and I drove Lloyd to his physical therapy session and took Ryder back with me. I was really glad to be able to give Kira a lot less to worry about and if everything goes to plan hopefully soon she won't have to worry about anything at all.
Harumi's P.O.V.:
I followed the warden to the visitation center. This was weird because Lloyd didn't usually come to visit unless it was an emergency.
"So, what does Lloyd think I did this time?" I asked him.
"What?" The warden responded.
"Well he only shows up if he suspects something."
"No, I mean it's not Lloyd." He said. "He says he's your brother."
"Brother?"
I got to thinking of what he meant when he said brother. At first I didn't remember having a brother, but I do have faint memories of an older male figure in my life. I always assumed he was a cousin or maybe a family friend because I don't remember seeing him very much, but maybe seeing him now would jog my memory.
I set down in front of a man with brown spiky hair and green eyes. At first I didn't recognize him but then I heard his voice.
"Harumi? Is it really you?" He looked me in the eyes, and then I remembered.
"Akamu?" I smiled. "How?"
"I was at Summer camp when that building went down. You probably don't remember because you were so young, but after our parents passed I was put in foster care." He sighed. "I assumed you died along with them, but then you started popping up all over the news and I tracked you down here."
"I guess infamy does have its perks." I winked.
"I heard about all the terrible things you've done." He said.
"What? You spent years tracking me down to give me the "you messed up and deserve to rot in here" speech?" I crossed my arms.
"No, I'm here to finish what you started." He smirked. "That Garmadon kid didn't help our family, and he has to pay."
This was the break that I had been waiting for. Someone to be my outside man. Yes it's true that I can never go near Ryder or Kira again, but the restraining order didn't say anything about him.
