Here we go Again
Kai's P.O.V.:
I came home from the mission and walked in to see Skylor standing at the door. She looked so nervous and scared, and it takes an awful lot to scare someone as tough as she is.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Kai my water just broke." She panicked.
"What?!" My eyes lit up. "Are you sure?"
"This is my third kid I think I know how this works." She held her stomach. "I'm really worried because the doctor said that they weren't ready yet."
"Ok ok, get in the car and I'll take you to the hospital." I yelled up the stairs. "Kids?"
"They aren't here." Skylor said. "I left them with the Fergusons across the street."
"Good idea." I nodded and helped Skylor walk to the car. "Let's go have a baby."
I got her into the front seat and started driving to the hospital. Skylor was right though, the doctor said the baby wasn't developing as fast as it should, and if it was coming right now, it wasn't good for the baby or for Skylor. I hoped that the doctors could do something.
We arrived at the hospital and I took Skylor inside. We got settled into a room and met with Dr. Conner.
"Well, it looks like they'll be here in couple hours." Dr. Conner looked at his charts.
"But it's only been seven months." Skylor said. "I thought you said that this one would take more time."
"And it was supposed to, but you seem to have gone into early labor." He told us.
"Is the baby going to be ok?" Skylor worried.
"Considering most elemental babies come early, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but considering this is your third child the risks are a bit higher." He told us. "There are a few things we can try but they are a bit risky for the baby and the mother as well."
"Like what?" Skylor asked.
"There are some medications you can take to slow the contractions down and postpone the labor, but they do come with some side effects." Dr Conner frowned. "Even if you were to do that, because we're this far in it would only delay the birth a day or two."
"That wouldn't help us much." I looked at Skylor.
"We could also prepare a place for the baby in the NICU, just in case the baby has issues we need to deal with right away." He told us. "The risk with that is there's no telling how long they would have to stay in there. It could be an hour, could be a month. Plus there's only so much they can do there."
"What do you want to do?" I looked at Skylor.
"I guess a few days in the NICU would be better than risking mine or the baby's lives." She said.
"Yeah." I agreed.
"I'll prepare a place for the baby." Dr. Conner wrote something on his clipboard. "I'll be back in an hour to check on you."
"Thank you Dr. Conner." I said.
"Please, call me Trent." He winked at us and left.
"I'm really nervous Kai." Skylor looked at me. "What if the baby doesn't make it?"
"Let's stay optimistic about this." I held her hand. "Lots of babies who are born prematurely do fine. Nya and I were both born early."
"Yes but you both have powers." She frowned. "This baby might not and that could mean..."
"I know, but that's a risk we're gonna have to take." I frowned.
A couple hours later, Skylor had given birth to a baby boy. Dr. Conner noticed he wasn't crying and was struggling to find his breath. He immediately took him back into the NICU to get him help.
"Do you think he'll be ok?" Skylor looked at me. She looked exhausted.
"We won't know anything for a while so you better get some rest." I told her. "I'll wake you up if I hear anything."
"But I can't rest." She yawned.
"It's ok, I'll wake you he comes back, and I'll see if Nya can pick up the kids."
"Ok." Skylor sighed and finally laid down.
She was out like a light so pulled out my phone and texted Nya.
————{{{Kai's phone}}}————
Kai: Hey Nya, we
have a bit of a situation.
Nya: What's the problem?
K: I got home and Skylor
was in labor. She had the
baby ten minutes ago but
he'll be in the NICU for a
while.
N: Oh no. Is he ok?
K: We haven't heard anything
yet but either way we're going
to be here a while. So I was
wondering if you could go over
to our neighbor's house and
pick up the kids?
N: I wish I could but we're
showing that new kid around
our house. He's gonna be
staying here a while so we
want to make him feel welcome.
K: The boy they found in
the room with Ryder?
How is he doing btw?
N: He's really shy but Jax
and Lily seem to be getting
along with him.
K: That's good. Well thanks
anyway sis, I'll see if Lloyd
can do it.
N: Ok, see you later. And
I can't wait to meet my
new nephew!
K: You'll get to. Good night.
N: Night bro.

Kai: Hey Lloyd, I know you've
had a busy day, but I was
hoping you could let the kids
spend the night tonight?
Lloyd: I would but tonight's not
good for us. I have to pick up Kira
and Ashley from the hospital in
the morning.
K: What? Who's Ashley?
L: My daughter. Kira had the
baby right after I got home.
But they wanted to keep
them both overnight.
K: Really? Congratulations!
L: Thanks. So why do you
need to someone to watch
the kids tonight?
K: Because Skylor had our baby
tonight too, but he has a breathing
issue and we're waiting to hear back
from the doctors. We're gonna be
here for a while and the kids need
a place to spend the night.
L: I wish I could help but
things are a bit hectic at
my place right now. Maybe
ask Cole or Zane?
K: I will. Thanks Lloyd, glad
everyone is back home safe now.
L: Me too. But hey, pretty cool
that our kids were born on
the same day.
K: Yeah that is cool.
L: Bye Kai.
K: Night Lloyd.

Kai: Hey Cole, can you
do me a favor?
Cole: Sure, what's up?
K: Skylor had the baby and we're
gonna be at the hospital for a while
so can you pick up the kids from my
neighbor's house across the street?
We're gonna be here all night.
C: Is everything ok?
K: He's in the NICU because he
was having trouble breathing.
Skylor is resting now.
C: Oh dang, of course I'll
help you out. Hope
everything turns out ok.
K: Yeah we're really worried.
C: Best of luck.
K: thanks. I'll let the
neighbors know what's
going on. I owe you big
time Cole.
C: Don't worry about it.
K: Thanks.

I stepped out of the room and called my neighbors to let them know that Cole was coming to pick the kids up. Then I went back into the room and Skylor was still asleep so I decided to rest my eyes for a few hours.
I woke up to the sound of a baby crying. I saw Dr Conner was standing there, holding our newborn son, who was now crying and breathing normally.
"What? What happened?" Skylor woke up panicked.
"Sky, it's ok." I calmed her down. "He's ok."
She looked up at the baby and sighed with relief. The doctor handed him to her and she got the biggest smile on his face.
"Hi baby boy." She smiled.
"We almost lost him for a second there, but that little guy is tougher than he looks." The doctor smiled.
"Thank you Dr. Conner." I said.
"Please, call me Trent." He winked and left the room.
I set with Skylor and our son. I was so happy that he pulled through.
"We should do something to thank Dr. Conner for his help." Skylor said.
"Like what?" I asked.
"What do you think about naming him Trent?" She looked at our son.
"Trent ha?" I looked at him and he giggled. "I think he likes it."
"Then it's settled. Little Trent Smith." Skylor smiled.
We decided to stay the night at the hospital just to be safe. We were so happy that our son made it through and that Skylor and I would be able to raise our three kids together.
Nya's P.O.V.:
We went home after saving Ryder and flew Matt home on our dragons. We arrived at the house and showed him around.
"So this is where you live?" Matt looked around.
"Yeah, and now you live here too." I smiled.
"We don't exactly have a bed for you to stay in yet, but there's a pull out sofa in the guest room that will work for now." Jay told him.
"That's ok." Matt smiled. "Thank you for taking me in."
"Of course we're happy to do it." I smiled. "Tomorrow we can take you to the mall and get you some new clothes."
"Oh you don't have to do that." Matt dismissed.
"No Matt, we want you to feel at home here." Nya smiled.
"Oh, well alright." He smiled.
"I'll go prepare your room." Jay left to go get the sheets for the bed.
Matt sat down at the counter and I made him some leftovers from last night's dinner and a drink of water. Poor kid was starving, but he seemed better after he ate.
"Feeling better?" I asked.
Matt nodded. "Thank you."
Jax and Lily came running down the stairs and started bombarding Matt with all kinds of questions.
"Where did you come from?" Lily asked.
"Are you an alien?" Jax asked him.
"Are gonna live here?" Lily asked him.
"Are you gonna be our brother?" Jax asked.
"Kids! Kids!" I shouted. "I know you're excited, but Matt's been through a lot. Maybe let him rest for tonight."
"Aww man." They both sighed.
"Sorry if they scared you, these are my kids Jax and Lily." I said.
"N-nice to meet you." Matt blushed.
"It's late guys, you two get to bed."
"Ok." The twins frowned and ran upstairs.
Jay came back into the room.
"Alright Matt, your bed is all set up." Jay said.
"Thank you Mr Walker. Is it ok if I go to bed now?" Matt asked.
"Of course. We'll be right down the hall if you need anything." I told him.
"Thank you, I think I'm gonna like it here." He smiled and walked to his room.
I looked back at Jay who had a weird look on his face. I could tell he was upset about something.
"What?" I looked at him.
"Nothing." He frowned.
"I know you better than that, what's up?"
"It's just... we barely had enough money for the four of us and now that he's gonna be staying here too..."
"I know we don't have a lot of money Jay but I couldn't just leave him there." I frowned.
"I get that, and I want to help him too, but we just can't afford it right now." He frowned. "I'm sorry."
As much as I hated to admit it, Jay had a point. Between the mortgage payments, food and the twins' birthday party coming up, we were already living paycheck to paycheck. There was no way we could afford to provide for ourselves and three kids. As much as I wanted to help him, we weren't in any position to do this at the moment.
"Then what do you suggest we do?" I asked.
"I'm not saying we need to send him away or anything, I just wanted to think of some ways we could bring in more money so we could take care of him." Jay said.
"Well, Kai and Skylor just had a baby so I can see if they need help at the noodle shop." I suggested.
"Wait what?" Jay screamed.
"Yeah, Kai came home tonight and Skylor was in labor." I smiled. "We have another nephew."
"Wow, that's great." Jay smiled. "I guess I can pick up some shifts at the restaurant."
"No Jay, I mean me." I laughed.
"Oh yeah that makes more sense." He nodded. "Then, who's gonna watch the kids?"
"I'm sure Kai will let me work around my schedule so I can still babysit if I need to." I told him.
"That should cover us for a while, but are you sure you can handle that?"
"Of course I can." I smiled. "As long as we get to keep Matt here, that's all that matters."
"Yeah I guess." Jay agreed.
After our conversation, we went to bed and slept. I didn't know how we were going to make this work, but we had to. For Matt.
