Episode 12: Gangs of the Sea
Hello! Who's ready for another review? I know I am!
Sorry the review is a little late today, I have been driving for hours. Anyway, enjoy!
Plot: Rapton and Beatrix go ahead with their plan to find the cores before the ninja do so they can destroy them. Lloyd and the others divide into three teams to look for the cores. Lloyd and Arin take the bounty out to the ocean to get their dragon core. While on the way, Lloyd tries to get Arin to master his move where he uses spinjitsu on objects. After a few tries, he does succeed, but blows out the engine in the process causing the bounty to crash (AGAIN!) landing in the ocean below. Still afloat, they make there way to a floating village overrun by a gang of merlopians and a giant crab monster. After a battle with a gang of merlopians and a giant crab monster, the bounty takes more damage and they float onto a small floating raft. There they help the algae farmers take back their land in exchange for them trying to fix their engine. While doing so, they take out the leader's crown and the crabs tooth which stops their wrongdoing and the farmers and the gang become allies. Lloyd and Arin have their ship fixed and sail away. Then the scene cuts to Kai and Wyldfyre in a pit about to get crushed by the walls while they're yelling at each other.
Things I enjoyed:
- FINALLY A MENTION OF PIXAL!!!
- I love how they're just trying to annoy Nya with the dragon Sora/Human Sora thing.
- Kai and Wyldfyre's banter just makes for hilarious moments and I'm cool with that.
- Lloyd and Arin playing catch with the plate is such a wholesome moment! He loves that little boy so much!
- The training sequence for the villages was cool.
- Arin acting like Lloyd is adorable
- I like these little glimpses into the next episode with the last scenes. It makes up for there being no recaps.
Things I didn't like:
- Tell me, why does Beatrix want the cores destroyed? Won't imperium just be destroyed along with the rest of the world if the ninja don't succeed?
- The Bounty crashing is such a cliche at this point. 😑
- I think Arin actually using the skill he'd been practicing to defeat the monster would have made more sense then what he actually did to beat the monster. That would've had more of an impact as well on how Lloyd as a teacher makes a difference.
- Those snakes crying about their plate was really cheesy. We don't need any more cheesiness in this show.
Favorite line:
"That was the last of our dinner plates." -Lloyd
Overall score: 8/10
This episode was very close to being perfect but not quite. I will say it was a bit better than the last one.
