The end - Kai

Years later

"Are you sure you have to go?"

Kai asked, peering at you around the box in his arms. "You don't have to start college this year."

You smiled sadly. "I don't have to, but I want to."

You watched as your boyfriend placed the box in the back of your car, and stretched his arms.

"Well, that's the last of it."

You frowned. You could've sworn you had more...

"Y/n?" Kai asked from behind you "Are you.... crying?"

Indeed you were. You just now felt hot years rolling down your cheeks. This surprised you, since you never cried.

Well, not lately.

"Hey." Kai wrapped his arms around you. "It's okay."

You took in his cologne, feeling as if you thought you would never smell it again.

Maybe you wouldn't.

The thought just made more tears well up. You blinked them away furiously, not wanting your boyfriend to worry.

"It's my job." The fire ninja muttered into your hair.

You blinked and looked up at him. "But I didn't say-"

"You didn't have to." He smiled. "We've been dating for years, y/n. I know what you're thinking."

You puffed out your cheeks in annoyance, wishing he'd be a little less smug about it.

"I am not smug." He protested.

Damn it, does know.
You pressed a quick kiss to his lips. "I'm going to miss you. Even if you're considered a walking weapon."

"I thought you were done poking fun at my hair years ago." The red ninja whined.

You patted his cheek. "I'm never done, bud."

He pulled you closer. "I hope you never are."

You let out a sigh. "Me too."
You didn't know why you were so sad. Kai would come to visit, and you would too, of course. And you both would call each other everyday, and video chat at night.

But it wouldn't be the same as seeing him everyday. And just knowing that made your heart heavy.

"Y/n, can you promise me something?"

You looked up at him. "What?"
He suddenly got flustered, and started to stutter. "I uh, well, I was just going to-"

You watched as he stumbled over his words in amusement, noticing the way his face turned at least five different hues of red, until he finally spat out:

"YOU'RE END GAME FOR ME!"

You blinked, confusion and shock slowing your reaction.

Kai started back at you in complete horror, like he slapped your grandma or something.

"That didn't come out right." He said.

"I'm.... endgame?" You asked, still confused.

Kai sighed, probably mentally face palming himself for blurting out something he considered stupid.

"What I mean by that is.... Well. Your it for me y/n." He looked at the ground sheepishly. "I don't want to be with anyone else. I can't even think about it without being sick to my stomach. My future is with you. I don't know how.... But I know."

Your eyes went wide with disbelief. "You're not proposing, are you?"

Kai's head snapped up "No! Oh God no!" Then, after seeing the look on your face, he added "It's not that I don't want to, don't get me wrong. But that's something that's way into the future- anyways, that's not the point."

He took a deep breath.
"What I'm trying to say is that-

And you already knew what he was going to say. That that day in the shoe store, where you met, he never had seen someone so radiant and beautiful. That he loved you, and that he planned to continue on loving you for as long as life would allow. That college would change nothing, and he would singe the hair off of any professor that gave you a hard time.

You held up a finger, stopping Kai in his tracks. You tried to smile, but you were occupied trying to keep back the odd mixture of happy and sad tears.

"We've been dating for years, Kai. I know what you're thinking."

The fire master looked like he was about to say something, but was interrupted by your parents, who came bustling out of the house, fussing over you, asking if you had enough gas, and demanding that you left before traffic got too bad, so as to avoid showing up late.

"I'm fine mom" you insisted, squinting as the rapid flash of her camera went off again and again.

"You are, it I'm not." She sobbed. "What am I going to do without my baby!"

Get a hobby that doesn't involve taking pictures of me all the time, perhaps?

"You'll be fine, M/n." Your dad reassured, trying to take he camera away gently.

She snatched it away, looking offended. "I'm not done yet f/n!"

You shook your head, watching as your parents bickered over the camera.

You were going to miss them so much.

"Okay, okay! I'm off now! Come say goodbye before I leave."

That broke up the argument real fast. Because suddenly your parents were holding you tight, telling you to call them as soon as you got there, and to not eat a whole bunch of junk food.

And before you could blink you were sitting in the driver's seat, key in hand, ready to start a journey you didn't know if you could handle.

"You better leave." Kai said from the window. "Your mom might end up thinking she needs another photo album for this moment.

Sure enough, in the rear view mirror, you could see the flash of her camera. You laughed.

"Don't worry about me, hot head. Without me, she has nothing to take pictures of. And as I recall, you eat dinner here every Thursday."

Kai visibly gulped. "Oh, yay."

"Well, this is it."

The red ninja pulled a half smile. "Guess it is."

Then you were kissing, long and slow, trying to make the moment last, to put off the inevitable.

When Kai pulled away, he smirked. "You know, if I was going to propose, it would be at that shoe store where we met."

You rolled your eyes. "I highly doubt you're going to remember that."

He wiggled his eyebrows. "Watch me."

And with that, you were driving down the road, looking back before you turned the corner, seeing the glistening tears on your parents faces, and the grin of your boyfriend.

You shook your head.

There was no way Kai would remember to propose at the shoe store.

But sure enough, five years later, you somehow weren't surprised to see Kai get down on his knee, ring in one hand, converse box under his arm, in the middle of Ninjago Footwear.

It's pretty obvious what you said after that.

I have some explaining to do.

It took me so long to upload because I was working on this. A very long scenario. Which is also why the paragraphs are spaced so it's easier to read.

And about the "The End" part....

Yeah, it's the end.

I know it's an odd place to end things (after a pet scenario all things) but I reached the maximum part thing, which is 200. And I have 6 more parts.

So I decided to do an epilogue thing.

I have to say, I feel like I haven't been writing this long, but damn, it's been over a year.

But I wouldn't trade that year for anything :)
