"You five have to do something other than laze around all day." Sensei said. "Why don't you get a job?"

"What about Nya?" Cole asked.

"What about her?" Jay glared at him.

"Nya will be helping me with the tea shop." Sensei Wu said. "Now, since most of the time you lot have nothing to do, I suggest you sign up for something more worthwhile than playing video games."

"Sure, Sensei." said Lloyd. "We'll do our best to get a job."

"Yeah!" said Jay. "Bring on the money!"

I wandered the streets, looking for any advertisements for shops that need help. Suddenly, I looked up at flashing letters that spelled out the words, 'Master Chen's Noodle House.'

I looked at the window and a poster was taped to the glass:

MASTER CHEN'S NOODLE HOUSE REQUIRES HELP:

Assistant needed to help in the kitchen. No experience required, as volunteers can easily be taught. Salary: $20.00 and hour. Work shift: 6 hours.

The noodle house reminded me of the Tournament of Elements. And the Tournament of Elements reminded me of Skylor. Skylor, the girl who helped us defeat her own father.

My cheeks heated up as I thought of her. Her rosy locks, her daring personality, her beautiful smile. I found myself wandering into the doors of the noodle house.

"Kai!" A girl with a red ponytail smiled at me from the counter. "How are you? And the rest of the ninja?"

"We're doing good." I said. "I'm here to sign up for the assistant job."

"Oh, great." said Skylor. "I really need some help in the kitchen. Especially as it's getting harder to rush around preparing the food by myself because the restaurant is getting really packed these days."

She led me to the kitchen. The room had a shiny white tiled floor and a row of huge pantries and a large fridge. There was also an oven and a microwave.

"This place is huge!" I ran my finger along the top of the oven.

"Yes." Skylor smile. "It gives me a lot more room to move around."

"Okay, so do you know how to cook a bowl of noodles?" Skylor said.

"Uh....is it okay if I said no?" I said, kind of embarrassed.

"Yeah, it's okay. It'll be easy to learn." Skylor opened the pantry and took out a few items.

"Here, look. First, you heat up the water in the pot...."

After five bowls of messed-up noodles, I finally got the hang of it.

"Not bad!" Skylor looked at my work. She smiled. "I'll say you're really getting the hang of it."

I felt my face heat up as I smiled back. Or maybe it was just the steam from the noodles drifting up into my face.

Was it just me, or was she blushing too?

Just then, a bell tinkled.

"Oh!" said Skylor. "A customer. Well, I'd better run." she dashed out of the kitchen.

After she had gone, I started thinking about how I'd blushed when she'd smiled at me. Did I still have a crush on her? Did she still have a crush on me? Even after Dareth interrupted our kiss?

I thought about how I'd remembered her when I took this job. I'd felt happy and kind of tingly inside. I guess this meant I did still have a crush on her after all.

Just then, Skylor ran back in. "Your first order, Kai. Time to prove yourself a good cook!"

She handed me a piece of paper ripped out of a notebook. "Come on, I'll help you."

Together we fried prawns, chopped carrots, boiled potatoes and prepared the noodles. After we'd put it all together, Skylor stood back, looking impressed. "Wow! It's a pretty good job for someone who just started learning." she grinned at me. I felt my face grow hot again.

After my six hours of work, Skylor gave me a red envelope with the words Master Chen's Noodle House stamped on it. "Here you go. Your wages for today." she blushed a little as she said this. "And you are coming back tomorrow, right? I really enjoyed today with you."

She kissed my cheek and I blushed bright red, matching the colour of my gi. "At least Dareth wasn't here to interrupt this kiss." I joked. She laughed.

"Bye, Kai. See you tomorrow!" she waved. I waved back as I walked away. I touched my cheek. I was definitely coming back tomorrow!
