Pink hearts and banners saying, 'Happy Valentine's Day!' were draped across the hallway. Flowers, cards, chocolates and gifts exploded from everyone's lockers. That is, everyone's except for mine.

Well, Aaron had given me a card with two stick people on the front and had written inside,
'Yo dude,
Happy Valentine's

eat some grape vines

From Aaron 😎' but that didn't really count.

I wish Macy could be my valentine. I had given Macy a new stainless steel red and silver mace and a card with a sword drawn on the cover. I had written,
Your mace is red,
'My sword is blue,
I wish you could be my valentine
As my love for you is true.
- Clay xoxo,' but Macy hadn't said anything yet.

A sudden thought burned in my head.

What if she doesn't like me in that way? What if she doesn't want to be my valentine?

Suddenly, I felt as if I ever saw another heart again I would puke.

I ran into the nearest homeroom I could find and slammed the door behind me.

"Hey, Clay."

I turned around to see a girl with a red ponytail and a white T-shirt. Macy.

She looked at me. "I...uh..got your card."

My cheeks burned.

"And...well...Clay? I don't want to be your valentine."

"Oh." I felt the back of my eyes stinging. But then, Macy smiled.

"No, Clay, I don't want to be your valentine. I want to be your girlfriend." she blushed.

"You...do?"

"Yeah."

I suddenly pulled her into a tight hug. Macy tensed up.

"Sorry!" I let go of Macy, blushing like crazy.

"No, it's okay. I just wasn't expecting it, that's all. I don't think you'd expect this either."

Suddenly, Macy flung her arms around me and kissed me. I kissed her back, breathing in her sweet scent.

When we pulled apart, Macy smiled.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Clay."

"Happy Valentine's Day, Macy."
