Highschool AU : Garmadon is still a Villian in Ninjago, and the Ninja still have their powers but they don't know who the others are, because secret identities and plot convenience.

Lloyds voice flutters gently out of the abandoned choir room as he raps gently to the melody in his head,

 "With tears freshly cried, it feels like my mind has died. 

Created an impassible divide for the darkness to reside

Suffocated by my loss, no bridges to cross.

No light in sight or point to fight

My body will be crushed my words shushed

And they say it's a phase, while I suffer in their gaze,

A misty veil of unclear, a heavy shroud of fear. 

This pounding in my head shows the poison has spread,

The prison that's my mind is so very unkind.

Destroying my sanity,  with such profanity.

I am broken by words unspoken.

Pale lines spread like wild vines

Leaving blood in their wake, cuz I'm just a mistake.

I can not be found for I'm not on the ground.

I am lost in the sky and ready to fly"

A slow clap interrupts the blond teen's thoughts, and his eyes flutter open to meet a pair of startling chocolate ones. A blush overtakes his pale skin as the taller teen smiles down at him, his face holding a gentleness Lloyd had never seen. 

"Um, h-hey, Kai I, uh, didn't see you there," he mutters, suddenly finding the floor very interesting.

"That was amazing where did you learn to do that," The firey teen asks excitement shining in his eyes, mixing well with his normal firey passion.

" I, uh, don't know. I just kinda ....... ya know, and it wasn't that great anyway" is all the green-clad boy can say as he frantically tries to avoid eye contact. He could feel his anxiety rising at the encounter with the popular boy,

" Really?! Man, that was amazing. I never knew you could sing, but of course, you have the fricken voice of an angel. Don't you let anyone tell you otherwise, and if someone does they better be ready to get the life beat out of them," the guitarist rants, trying to catch the younger's eyes.

"I'm not th-that good," he mutters trailing off when he felt Kai place his hand on his shoulder. Unfortunately, as he opened his mouth to speak a voice broke their bliss, Kai's understudy, Gene.

Lloyd tensed as Kai called out to the boy, and acting on instinct he pushed the junior away and made a dash for the back way out of the room. He needed to escape, his bruises still weren't healed from his last encounter with the cruel boy.

Luckily for Lloyd, he had escaped the clutches of Gene for now, and lunch was almost over. 

"Earth To Luh-loyd!" Jay exclaims in the unsuspecting teen's ear, frightening him into next Tuesday.

 A growl escaped the teen as he smacked his friends arm, embarrassed for not only being scared but emitting a very feminine scream and attracting the attention of several others. Jay's face lights up at all the attention, becoming almost as red as Lloyds. They were a funny pair, the two kids with stage fright in a music and dance performance school, in other words, they stuck out like Fruitloops in a bowl of Cheerios. As the two guitarists looked at each other they burst out laughing, momentarily forgetting the crowd and simply focusing on the others beat red face.

Once their random laughter had subsided Jay spoke,"So that was awkward, but hey, whateves." He smiles gently moving his hair out of his electric blue eyes
Lloyd can't help but smile at his friend attempt to seem chill, "Yeah sure, you're totally chill."
"Oh, push off, I'm fine, but you aren't. Why did you only miss the first half of lunch. You never miss only one half, with you it's all or nothing." The boy rants making wild hand gestures in the process.
"I was singing in the choir room, but Kai walked in while I was in there. I know what that means so I bolted as soon as I heard Gene coming after him,"
"Hold on, you had the chance to talk to Kai Smith and you didn't. You ran away from the guy you've been crushing on for the past two years, because?" He presses, smiling at the blond's cherry red face.
"Because Gene showed up, and I don't need to have any more bruises to cover," he replies, right before the bell rings, "see ya later."
Lloyd trains his eyes on the ground as he walks to his next class,  Dance and Choreography. Luckily he would not be alone since Jay's boyfriend Cole was also in his class.

"Hey, man," the noirnette says as the blond enters the class
"Hi, what are we doing today. I really don't feel like embarrassing myself." He says, glancing around the room at the group of populars giggling in the corner. Granted he used that term loosely, referring to the school's power couple, Nya and Skylor, and their closest friend Pixal.
"Really, dude, you are easily one of the best dancers in this class!" He exclaims in a clearly exasperated tone.
"Am not!" Lloyd retorts, hitting Cole's shoulder lightly.

"Alright, Class today we are going to be practicing ballroom dances. I know most of you are not particularly fond of this exercise or having assigned partners, but if you all perform well this time you will have more freedom next time," Mr. Brookestone says beaming at his class of 12," So here are the pair, no trading partners. Cole and Seliel, Vincent and Jillian, Brent and Pixal, Nya and Lloyd, Alissa and Ryan, Alex and Riley, Virgil and Roman. Get with your partners quickly now,"

Lloyd and Cole exchange a look of disappointment before walking over to their partners.

"Hey, Lloyd nice to have you as my partner. I was so afraid I was gonna get stuck with someone who would just step on my toes the who time, and from what I've heard and seen you're quite the dancer," Nya says her hair falling slightly into her face as she cocks her head and smiles brightly at the blond teen.

"H-hi," Lloyd manages weakly as he shifts uncomfortably next to the girl. He was nervous, to say the least, how could he not be this was Kai's sister. If he screwed up the spiky-haired teen would definitely hear about it.

" Hey, don't be nervous; you're great at Dance. I won't bite," the teen says giggling slightly as she takes Lloyds hand and places it on her waist.

Breathing in the green-clad teen calms himself and nods grabbing her other hand. They move on the beat even before the teacher has time to finish his instructions.

"Heh, this isn't so bad," Lloyd says, grinning slightly as the two spin around the room.

"What are you imagining I'm Kai," Nya retorts giggling as her partners face lights up like a Christmas tree in December.

"N-no!" is all Lloyd can get out as he fights the vivid blush on his pale cheeks.

"Awe, you so are," she says beaming at him as he dips her."That is so unexpressibly cute, like, I can't even."

" Sh-shut up," he mumbles, trying to look anywhere but at his grinning partner.

"Ya know, Kai really likes you too. Once that boy gets started talking about you he just doesn't stop, ever. I wish you would just ask him out and get it over with," she says calmly while grinning so wide Lloyd was beginning to wonder how her face didn't hurt.

"Yeah, sure the most popular guy likes me, a socially awkward nobody with stage fright and r- " Lloyds eyes widen as he realizes what he almost said and quickly tries the prevent any further pressing from the ocean eyed girl, "Ya know what, nevermind. "

"What, Lloyd what's wrong? He really does-" she starts but is cut off by the loud ring of the bell and Lloyd dropping her from a dip.

Nya looks sadly over at the blond as he moves quickly out of the classroom, unnerved by the glares Skylor was shooting at him.

" Hey, babe, give him a break," she says calmly to her girlfriend as she helps her to stand.

"But-" the redhead starts but stops as Nya locks their hands

Lloyd shivered as he looked over his shoulder at Kai who was sending a death glare in his direction. A frown forms on his face as he walks down the hall hoping to get away from the taller male and slip out of the school without running into the schools notorious bully group. Unfortunately, luck was not on the teen's side and as the last bell rings he feels a hand grip his shoulder. Spinning around he readies himself for the impending blow, but nothing comes.

" Why the heck did you drop my sister," Kai growls at him, his face, less the six inches away from Lloyd's at this point.

"I uh, um I I" he stutters' his brain shutting down from how close Kai was.

"Awe, look at this, the little F****t can't talk because his cwush is close to him," Gene says chuckling darkly as Kai turns to face him, a bewildered look on his face," C'mon Kai why don't you just go to class and let me teach this kid a lesson for you and your sweet little sister. No one will know if you just walk away now."

Lloyd could see Kai's muscles tense, as he considered his options. Lloyd silently wished he would just leave and not see him at his worst point, lying on the ground hurt and bleeding.

"Now why would I ever do that," Kai says moving away from the now shocked teen," Lloyd and I were just having a chat about yesterday, and I think we can settle this on our own. Thanks for the offer, though."

" It wasn't an offer, Kai," he says as he moves towards the pair, Pythor and Chen moving toward Kai from behind.

Gene smirks as the other two grab Kai, forcing him away from the green boy, and into a supply closet nearby.

"Now it's just you and me little Lloyd," He says quickly punching Lloyd in the eye.

Lloyd blinks as his vision blurs not with tears, but because his contact folded. A dark laugh escapes the green-clad teen as he moves to remove his contacts and stares at a shocked Gene. No words come out of Gene's open mouth when his eyes lock with Lloyd's pure red ones.

"Gene, you have picked on me for five freaking years and I'll admit that was pretty freaking stressful, but I could care less about that right now," He says, shedding his hoodie to reveal finely tone muscles, " You brought Kai into this, someone who had nothing to do with whatever you think I did to you. Now I am just about this close to snapping you in half like a little twig and sending you home crying to your father."

"You, you're, you're the ch-child of," he stutters, choking on his words and the name that was to remain unspoken.

"Garmadon? Yes, I am, so I suggest you leave before things really do get ugly,"

Gene runs off and a not five  minute later Kai bursts out of the closest a look of rage on his face, "Where is that little twirp, I am going to beat the living life out of him!"

"He's gone," Lloyd says jumping off the ledge he was sitting on, "And I don't think he'll be coming back any time soon "

Kai does a double take and looks the teen up and down, clearly shocked by the confidence that now lined his voice and seemed to course through his veins as he stood tall. The blond now stood, chin up, facing Kai dead on, a complete one-eighty from a few minutes ago, but what shocked Kai the most where his bright ruby eyes that were filled with passion, pain, and courage.

"Woah," was all Kai could say as he stared at the other Junior.

" So what were you asking earlier, oh right, why did I drop Nya. I dropped her because I almost said something I shouldn't have and she was being nosy. I was only trying to protect my secret but I guess there is no point in doing that anymore," he says with a laugh, scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"A-actually I was gonna ask you to the fall formal," Kai replies chuckling as he catches Lloyd's eyes, his real eyes for the first time ever.

A smile forms on Kai's face as Lloyd's face becomes a red that could rival his ruby eyes and a string of embarrassed sputters leave him before he exclaims,"What!"

" Heh, I was gonna say for dropping my sister you owed me a date, and you're just so darn cute when you're flustered. So when I saw the opportunity to ask you out and I fluster you I took it," he gushes, his face now dusted with its own pale blush,"So what do you say? Will you go to the fall formal with me?"

A happy laugh bubble up inside Lloyd as golden tears fall freely from his eyes, "Are you kidding me! Yes, yes a thousand times over. I have wanted this to happen for two years now, yes!'

Kai smiled brightly as the golden-haired boy tackled him into a bone-crushing hug and Lloyd. Well, he was just happy someone didn't fear his heritage or his eyes, and he had never felt safer than when he was wrapped in Kai's caring embrace.
