"I don't think he likes you two trying to break his record!" Kai glanced over at Jay and Lizz.
"There goes our good first impression," Cole groaned.
The group in entirety as backing away from the raging Bigfoot, who had decided that throwing a couch was better than using his claws. The couch in question parted the group like the Red Sea. Kai and Cole went to one side, and Lizz, Zane and Jay were forced to go the other way.
The thing continued forward, swiping angrily at the intruders, "I don't think he's happy to meet us..." Lizz's voice quivered as she spoke.
Jay and Cole tripped backwards over a rolled up yoga mat and a tipped bicycle respectively. Kai's foot caught on a toy snake, and when he grabbed onto Lizz for balance he ended up dragging her down with him.
At least her landing was cushioned by Kai.
Zane was the only one still on his feet, making him the main target, now, "Is this the Master Writer?!" he shouted, backing himself right into a tipped trash bin, "He's in charge of our destiny?!"
Kai rolled out from under Lizz and left her on the floor, disappearing behind her. She took that moment to stand up again, looking around. Kai had grabbed Zane out of the direct path of Bigfoot, and Cole had regrouped with Jay over by the front door, "Whoever he is," Cole turned and ran back around to the back of the room, "I don't think he's handing over the Sword."
Jay began frantically pulling at the doors, trying to yank them open, "It's locked!"
Lizz ran over to him, "What?!" she tried dislodging the doors, too.
Both of them were shouting, now, "Why would it be locked?!"
Lizz and Jay turned around just in time to notice they were trapped by Bigfoot. It raised a large, furry paw and swiped for Jay and Lizz -- quick as a wink, Lizz kicked Jay out of the way and found herself snatched up instead.
It cradled her in front of its face with both paws, now, paying no attention to Lizz's screaming. The screams died out, though, when she felt a hot buzzing surging through her body. It wasn't just a gentle tingling that ran under her skin, either, it felt like she was being cooked from the inside out.
Bigfoot tossed her carelessly off to the side. She landed on her rear end somewhere near Kai, and doubled over like a forgotten ragdoll, twitching with the shocks of power still ebbing through her. She'd been accidentally electrocuted by Jay once. It wasn't fun then, and it wasn't fun now, either, "Ow..."
Lizz flinched at how her voice sounded; weak. Broken. It cracked under the weight of her emotions, the weight of how much she wanted to curl into a ball and cry.
The other four were around her, now, "Lizz!" it was Jay, sounding exasperated, "What the hell?!"
Bigfoot wasn't about to let them sit and chat. It roared again, shaking the entire building as it staggered towards them. Jay pulled Lizz to her feet and pulled her out of harm's way with him as the group screeched and scattered.
Kai had leaped to safety behind a large blue teddy bear in the corner, waving his arm, "Over here, big guy!"
It had just missed Jay and Lizz with his paws before it turned towards the sound of Kai. Menacingly, it towered over Kai, ready to attack, before Kai tucked tail and ran.
Instead of chasing Kai, though, Bigfoot took the teddy bear in its arms and started snuggling with it. Lizz was still twitching, but was doubled over trying to catch her breath, "What the shit?"
The rest of the team could almost see the light bulb go on over Kai's head, "What...? Ahhh... so you like your toys, huh?" Kai's dark eyes landed on a small teddy bear, with a ripped ear, that was over to his left. When Bigfoot noticed that Kai had a hold of one of his toys, he roared angrily at Kai. Kai, in turn, began waving the teddy at Bigfoot, "Stay, big fella. Or I'll break it!"
Acting as if he was going to follow through on his threat, Kai took hold of the bear's arm, eliciting fearful whimpers out of Bigfoot. It was motioning with both arms for Kai to give the bear over, cowering. Kai's grip tightened on it, "Stay... stay..."
Lizz scowled in disapproval, her heart breaking slightly for the creature, "Kai, you big bully!"
He shot her a glare just as Bigfoot got enough of Kai's threats and got back to being angry, roaring at Kai. His glare at her worsened, "Just hurry up and find a way outta here!" he whisper-shouted.
It sprang the rest of the team into action, Lizz, Zane and Jay tossing and turning everything in sight in search of a way out. Each of them were coming up empty handed. Lizz skidded to a stop in front of the doors next to Jay, who was pressing his face to the keyhole, speaking to someone on the other side, "You can undo the locks!"
It was Cole that he was talking to, "I'm a ghost! Not a locksmith! I need a key!"
Lizz bent at the waist, shouldering Jay partially out of the way so she could look through the lock, too, "Be the key, dumbbell!"
Jay joined her in repeating for emphasis, "Be the key!!"
Kai and Zane whizzed past, Bigfoot hot on their trail. Lizz and Jay were forced to follow, and the four of them began running in circles; literally. They stayed close to the wall, leaping over and avoiding the toys that obstructed their path.
Two laps later, the door finally cracked open and they all ran out, the boys doubling over to catch their breath. Lizz swung the door shut behind them, flinching away when Cole suddenly materialized out of nowhere. Kai went over and placed a hand on Cole's shoulder, "Y"know, Cole; I'm starting to like you as a ghost more and more."
"I'm not..." Lizz shook her head, shuddering. Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she saw across the Kingdom someone who she didn't want to see in the Cloud Kingdom. Zane was suddenly pointing, his hand in her line of sight, "Look!" he was shouting right in her ear, "Morro's here! With Fenwick!"
Lizz made a face, "He's harmless, Lizz. You just don't trust him cuz the ghosts, Lizz. Everything is perfectly fine, Lizz. We can trust him!" she mocked, turning her stone-cold eyes on Kai.
Kai tensed up, "You can tell me to eat my words later. We need to go. Now."
Each of them flipped up their hoods and took off, leaping over the edge of the land piece they were on. After that, they used their sketchy Airjitzu to hope their way over to the bridge Morro was just on.
So now they were climbing their way up the side of the rock. Cole insisted that it would be a more stealthy approach, instead of just straight-up landing on the bridge, "Kai, I swear to God, I will cut your foot off."
Kai was using her face as a foothold.
"My fingers," he was groaning in agony.
Lizz shook her foot, "Jay, let go!"
"You're using my face as a foothold," Jay snapped, "You're not making this climb any easier!"
"Well, easier for me," she tapped his nose with her foot, "Just not for you."
Zane pulled her up before she could do any real damage to Jay. She straightened herself out just in time to hear one of the small monks start explaining NInjaGo's imminent doom to them, "Fenwick is convinced there's no way to stop the curse, and so he's agreed to help Morro only to help himself! But he doesn't know you've escaped. You have to get the Sword. Otherwise, Morro will have too big of an advantage over you!"
Lizz cracked her knuckles, preparing herself to throw Fenwick over the edge of his own Kingdom, "Where is the damn thing?"
The kid was shaking a little, probably still unnerved by the sight of a girl, let alone one that was speaking directly to him, "At the top of the tallest tower-"
"I swear to God--" this wasn't some freaking rescue the princess mission. Why the hell did everything have to be at the top of the tallest freaking tower in the nearest vicinity, "No time to take the damn stairs, then, I s'pose."
Without a word she took off down the bridge towards the building at the end, leaving the boys in her wake. Lizz pushed off, leaping into her Airjitzu. She landed on the lowest boat, first, jumping off from there; if she didn't, she wouldn't've gotten very far up.
Conveniently, there were boats floating back and forth, and it made Lizz think of Space Invaders, the way they criss-crossed over each other, making perfect leaping platforms.
"Lizz!" Cole snapped from somewhere below, "Slow down!"
She paused atop the last boat -- much to the dismay of the monk who was driving it -- and peered over the edge; the boys were catching up pretty quickly, doing the same thing she was, with the boat-hopping, "Why?"
Zane landed behind her, shaking the boat, "It's dangerous for you to go up there alone. We're a team, Lizz. We need to stick together for a better advantage."
"I know we're a team," she told him, "Y'all were taking too damn long, and we have limited time to get the Sword."
The rest of the boys landed in the middle of their argument, now, too, and the extra weight began tipping the boat. Lizz's feet began sliding and she waved her arms like a flightless bird in an attempt to straighten herself back out, but ended up having to grab the mast. As much as she can lie to herself, she will always have a fear of heights. Zane went and placed a hand on her back to make sure she was steadied.
They were already at the top of the tower, the boat drifting lazily past the top row of windows. A shared look was passed through their group, and with a unison cry of "Ninjaaaa-GO!" they leaped through the windows.
The windows, coincidentally, didn't break, but spun open upon impact.
And the following fight with Morro was really, really bad on the Ninja's part. Nothing they did had an impact on Morro; with the Sword in his hand, he was able to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge anything the Ninja tried. Aeroblades, punches, kicks-- nothing worked.
Morro hopped back, laughing as Jay smacked into the wall, "It's too late, Ninja. I know your every move."
"We'll see about that," Kai grit out.
Jay let out a yell, running straight at Morro with his Aeroblade outstretched. Morro, as expected, blocked the attack with ease and kicked Jay aside. Cole tried it next and met the same fate. Kai's Aeroblade was easily dodged, and Zane's sneak attack from above was thwarted by a quick blast of wind.
Lizz tried to get him when he was distracted with Zane, however she was hit right in the gut by the broad-size of the sword blade and throws into the wall, "Well shit..." she wheezed out, watching Morro make a run for the windows they'd left open.
He stopped and faced them, cackling darkly as he examined the Sword. Two blue Aeroblades whizzed past Lizz's head and spun right through the spot Morro had just been standing before he leapt out the window. Jay groaned, "I think he saw that, too..."
Cole -- with great difficulty -- pulled Lizz to her feet, and as a group they leapt out the window after Morro, slipping and sliding uncontrollably on the sleek terra-cotta shingles. Kai slid to a stop right on the edge, and Cole, Zane and Lizz bumped into him and each other respectively, forming a nice single-file line that was dangerously close to teetering off the edge. It was Jay sliding full speed into the back of Lizz that sent everyone flying.
Jay grabbed her feet -- and she cursed at him for it, due to her broken... everything on her right foot -- but she, in turn, grabbed Zane's ankles, and so on and so forth, until there was a very obvious chain of brightly coloured Ninja dangling precariously off the edge of the roof.
Kai pointed, grunting out, "There he... is... get him!" with great difficulty due to being upside down.
Jay began swinging them, much to Lizz's discomfort, until they got enough momentum to be tossed far enough to grab the rooftop. Jay almost fell, but thankfully he didn't. From there they each clambered back onto the roof, where they somehow jumped all the way to the building that Morro was on.
Lizz almost fell that time, but Jay grabbed her just in time, "Not so fast."
And, seeing their attack coming, Morro hopped to the next building over, causing a pileup on the corner of the roof. Cole was hanging off the edge, being held by Kai who was landed on by Zane, "I hate that Sword," Kai growled.
Morro laughed evilly from where he stood, "Why fight?" he mocked, waving the Sword, "I'll win every time."
"Well that doesn't mean we can't try," Cole sassed back.
Lizz groaned in both irritation and worry when Morro took a deep breath, raising his hands up. The clay shingles around him began floating, hovering still for just a second before hurtling themselves at the Ninja. They forced to dodge them, obviously, but with some difficulty.
Soon, though, the shingle-attack ceased and the group leapt into Airjitzu, chasing after Morro. But it was too late; he'd landed atop the tallest steeple to gloat one last time at them, "It's too late, Ninja."
And with that he nose dived off the building and landed on a hijacked skiff one of his ghost friends had stolen. He flipped down his hood to whisper something to his adversary and Lizz stabbed her Aeroblade into the rooftops, "Guys--"
"What?" it was a weird, harmonized chorus.
"That's the Banshee!" Lizz snarked, just as the wailing began.
It was horrific. Even in her half-deaf state, her ears still stung. However, her warning was still too late; the roof's shingles and the boys all went flying, while Lizz was kneeling, bowing her head against the wind. After it was over, she stood and looked around, rolling her eyes when she saw what they were doing.
The boys had now stolen a skiff, too, and were doing such a terrible job at steering it that they were almost upside down. Even from way over there, she could hear them all yelling some variant of 'how do you steer this thing?'
"Idiots," she muttered, pulling her weapon free. She stood and watched, waited and winced as the Bigfoot thing -- apparently free of its room -- grabbed their boat and began shaking it furiously, "Well that's gotta suck..."
However, quick as a wink, Bigfoot swapped the boat out for chasing Fenwick down the pathway instead, allowing the boy' skiff to go free. She waved them down, running as best she could to the end of the rooftop. Without allowing time for error or second-guesses, Lizz pushed off into her Airjitzu and landed with a tumble on the boat, "Hi."
Kai pulled her up, "Nice one, Lizz."
Jay pointed ahead of them, "There he is!"
No way.
Cole was guiding the skiff over to the whirl of cloud -- it looked like a drain -- where Morro was, and they were gaining speed, so apparently Cole had figured out how to drive it, "Hold onto your buckets, kids. The ride's not over, yet!"
"Welp," Lizz gripped the side of the boat with an iron grip as the Wailing Alps came back into view. They were taking a straight-up nosedive towards the mountain, "We're gonna die," she muttered, scrunching her eyes shut, "We're gonna die, we're gonna die, we're gonna die, we're gonna-"
"Why aren't we flying anymore?!" Jay shrieked.
"Gravity, dumbass!" she shouted back.
They hit the snow with a thud, but began not-so-smooth sailing -- snowboarding? -- down the mountain after Morro, whose boat was doing the same as theirs. Snow was flying everywhere, wind whistling past, getting in their eyes a bit. The cold air froze Lizz's nose.
"Ha!" Kai shouted triumphantly as their boat pulled even with the ghosts', "Got you, now!"
"I wouldn't be too sure about that..." Morro waved his hand ever so slightly and a gust of wind pushed their boats far apart, sending the Ninja down a totally different path than the ghosts.
"So... many... trees..." Lizz shivered, watching the blurred plant life fly by.
Zane let out a groan, "Abandon ship!" he shouted, "Abandon! Ship!"
They didn't leap fast enough and their skiff collided head-on with a tree, breaking into a bajillion pieces. Somehow or another, Lizz had landed upright on a singular piece of plywood, managing to successfully snowboard like Cole and Kai were doing -- Zane was skiing, and Jay was nowhere to be seen.
Lizz let out a shaky laugh, grinning a bit as she moved to go antagonize Morro like Zane and Kai were doing, "Hello!" Zane waved, "Haven't we met before?"
"Your ride's a bit slow," Kai sneered.
Morro growled, "Don't they ever quit?!"
Lizz shook her head, "Not really," she winked at him, grinning toothily.
BAM! Kai was dispatched by a tree trunk. She winced, but continued focusing on Morro. A quick glance told her Kai was fine and moving and getting back on his snowboard. Jay, however, was yelling and cursing about his uncontrollable sled, having issues controlling it.
Cole had joined back up with the group, "Hold on, Jay!" he called.
The Archer aimed and shot at Jay, who easily ducked the arrow, "Ha!" he laughed, "You missed!"
"I never miss..." the Archer was sure of himself, that was for sure.
And sure enough, the arrow had done a total U-Turn and went back for Jay, less than an inch away from grazing Jay's armor. And again, it did a U-Turn, chasing Jay out of sight of Lizz.
"Attention Bounty!" Cole called in their predicament, "Come in! We're headed straight for you and we're comin' in hot!"
"Psshht..." Lizz snorted, squeaking a little when she went off a small mountain-made jump, "I'm always hot..."
"We know what Morro wants with the Tomb," Kai explained to the group on the ship, "He's after the crystal that can unleash the Pre Eminent and curse the Sixteen Realms."
One after the other, the Ninja all went off a small ledge. Lizz watched The Bounty as she did so, seeing its thrusters spring to life and carry the ship off the ground until some trees got in her way and she couldn't see it anymore.
Until, anyway, the ship almost took off their heads by flying so low to the group. Someone had taken up launching water balloons at the ghosts, but missed and instead almost took out Jay. It would have almost been comical if it weren't for the current situation.
Anchor! Sensei Wu, of all people, was riding the anchor that was now dragging a ditch through the snow, "Need a lift?" he called.
"Lizzi first," Jay had jumped onto the anchor beside Sensei, beckoning with open arms for Lizz to snowboard close enough for her to be grabbed, "C'mon."
She did as asked and was soon standing on the anchor. Cole and Zane followed suit, however Kai was still headed down the mountain, "Go," he told them, that irritating determined look on his eye, "I can still catch them."
And so the anchor was pulled up, everyone deposited on the deck. Jay immediately set to fretting over Lizz, "Stone cold. You need warmer clothing."
She batted him away, "I'm fine. Just watch for hot head over there and worry about me, later."
Jay nodded and watched for Kai like the others were, but soon groaned, "Awe... I've lost sight of Kai!"
Sensei waved for Nya's attention, "Follow them!"
The ship shuddered back to life and began sailing -- flying? -- after the ghostly skiff, everyone on the deck watching the fight from afar. They each gasped as the boat was sent flying off the edge of a straight-up cliff, Kai being the only one not aboard anymore.
"Lloyd..." Lizz whispered.
"He'll be alright," Jay reassured her.
It didn't help curb her anger at Kai for letting Lloyd fall off a cliff, even if he wasn't completely Lloyd right now. Pretty soon, though, Kai was hopping on treetops and Airjitzu-ing to the Bounty, "You got the Sword," Sensei was in awe, "But how?"
Kai let out a cocky laugh of disbelief, "How else? By working together. Lloyd fought Morro like a true hero."
"If Morro can defy destiny, then why not us?!" Cole declared happily.
"He may have gotten Airjitzu first--" Zane began, only to be cut off by Jay, "Uh-uh-uh. You mean Cyc--"
Lizz growled, "Shut up, Jay."
Zane sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping in defeat. Cole was now patting Kai on the shoulder, "But we got the Sword!"
And then everyone was back to cheering happily, "Now all we have to do is find the Tomb," Sensei told them, "Then, it's smooth sailing."
"But who here knows where the Tomb is?!" Ronin shouted.
Lizz jumped, forgetting about Ronin's mere existence up until that point, "Shut up, you," she grunted.
A/N: this is like... 4000 words long
