Chapter Four
A/N: I warned you that updates are gonna be slowing down soon and I'm warning you again
I'm babysitting every other week for my cousin so those weeks are, like, pretty much outta the question for updates but otherwise I'm pretty free for the other weeks unless something pops up that I'd rather do than be on the computer all day
Aka a dance like the one on July 29th *cough cough* hint hint *cough cough*
So anyhoe:
Here's another update
Jay was inevitably the last one to the edge of the City, scowling as they all fell to the ground--Lizz taking great satisfaction in being able to do so. Jay gave her a look as he stood up beside her, "You cheated."
"I did no such thing," she grinned over her shoulder, "However, because I'm in such a good mood today, I won't make you pass out my fliers. Now c'mon," she waved her arm and walked towards the center of town, "We have tea to sell."
The others followed her, Cole grumbling a little, "Who made her the leader?"
"Since when did she ever want to be the leader?" Kai corrected, giving Lizz's back a worried glance, "I think something's wrong."
"Perhaps it is the success of creating her Elemental Dragon that has gotten her in such high spirits," Zane suggested with a shrug.
"Well whatever it is, I'm not sure I like it," Jay crossed his arms, "Tell her to go back to the usual Lizz we know."
"You tell her," Kai glanced over Zane to look at Jay.
"Come on, guys," Cole said as they finally reached the place they'd been headed for, "The faster we pass out all these posters the sooner we can take off these uniforms."
"Hopefully," Lizz muttered as they all branched off.
"Steep Wisdom!" Kai waved around a poster, "Enlightenment in a cup!"
A few feet away, Cole was on the sidewalk, "Best little tea shop in NinjaGo!"
"First cup is free!" Zane urged a passerby.
"First cup is free with the flier!" Lizz added on.
Jay ran past, "Jus-just take the-take the flier! Why won't you take the flier?!?" he yelled at the girl he was chasing down.
They all regrouped, "I see no one else is having any luck," Kai moaned.
Jay took a deep breath, "It's as if they think I'm passing out a communicable disease! I mean, sure, I have a cold sore but it's hardly contagious!" Cole made a face and all of them backed away from Jay, who was giving them weird looks, "What? What?!"
"Maybe if we use our powers we can get this over with," Cole told them hopefully.
"But Sensei gave us strict instructions not to use our Elemental Powers," Zane warned.
"Well..." Kai began, "Sensei's not here... and what he doesn't know won't hurt him... I'm in. Is everyone else?"
Wu always finds out, but I'm sick of the outdoors, Lizz told herself and shrugged, "Eh. Yeah, I'm in."
Zane, Jay and Cole all erupted in cheers and the five of them broke off yet again. Lizz paused, glancing around. Cole went and lifted up a car, calling out to people who stopped to gawk at him, "Getting tired? Out of strength?" he started spinning the car on his hands, "Get a pick-me-up at Steep Wisdom!"
She winced when Kai went over to a nearby firebreather, "Um... Kai..."
He didn't hear her, "Care to pass the torch?"
"Sure," the guy mocked, handing it to Kai, "Let's see what you got, Mr. Teapot."
"If this isn't your cup of tea," Kai called out, "How about this?" he blew on the torch, burning a teapot shape into the street.
That gave Lizz a bit of an idea. She ran over and held out her hands, spraying water all over his fiery creation, "Get a cup of hot, steamin' tea at Steep Wisdom!" she threw a wink at Kai through the steam that was rising up before turning and running back to the other side of the intersection.
"Ha!" Jay challenged, "You think that's a crowd? Check this out!" he grabbed onto a couple chunks of wires inside a powerbox by his elbow and in a few seconds every single screen in NinjaGo Square was lit up with a picture of a simple blue teapot. As a crowd gathered around him, he jumped atop the powerbox and threw his fliers everywhere before crowd surfing, "I know. It's shocking, right?"
Zane walked over towards Kai, "If we're going to use our powers, you may as well do it right!"
Lizz watched Zane run away before going over towards Kai, "You guys are strange..."
"Hey, you're doing it, too," he countered.
"Au contraire," she held up a hand, "I did it once. However, since I'm not one for attention, I'm letting it up to you guys. Where's Zane going?" when she looked, though, Kai wasn't there. He'd run back to the firebreather.
She'd barely asked before Zane did a backflip, his dragon suddenly appearing with an earsplitting roar as it reared up. As soon as his front feet touched the ground he launched into the sky, twirling as he flew. Once in the air, the dragon began hovering, roaring loud and proud again before nosediving back to the streets. Lizz laughed as he began ice-breathing in the patch of ground in the middle of the intersection, creating a large ice sculpture of a teapot.
Lizz's laughter died out, an uneasy feeling settling over her. She shuddered and flinched horribly as something inside her snapped like a branch off a tree in a bad storm. Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground, hyperventilating; something was horribly wrong and it was something horribly wrong with Lloyd.
Zane grinned and threw down his fliers to the crowd gathering. They grabbed them, cheering for all the epic things that the Ninja had been doing. Suddenly, a large, heavy and hot gust of wind blew through the city, taking the fliers and the peoples' cheers with.
People began running around, making worried noises. No one took notice of Lizz. Jay was looking around, the screens flickering back to normal as he gave them all a sad, confused look. Jay took the cables in his hands again, bumping them together and he sighed when nothing worked. Kai grabbed his torch, attempting to blow another teapot onto the streets, "My powers," he cried when nothing happened, "They're not working!"
"Mine neither!" Jay called back.
"What do you mean your powers aren't-" Cole began shaking under the weight of his car and soon he was smushed under it, groaning as the bystanders laughed at him, "Ouch... somebody give me a hand..."
Lizz, Kai and Jay all ran over to Cole's aid, hoisting up the car enough where he could wriggle out from under it, "If our powers are gone..." Lizz looked up at Zane doing loop-de-loops on his dragon, "Then that means..." Zane's dragon disappeared without a moment's warning, sending Zane back to earth at an alarming speed, "Zane!"
"He's kinda fast..." Kai watched Zane plumet, the boys doing nothing to attempt to catch him.
Lizz, however, was somewhat attempting something, running to find where he'd land, "I got you! I got you, Zane!" Zane hit the ground, falling below ground a good fifteen feet, right behind where Lizz was standing, "I don't got you, Zane..."
"Whoa!" Kai, Jay and Cole were looking in the Zane-shaped hole, "I think he just broke the sound barrier!" Kai nodded a little in approval.
Zane's hand came up, followed by the rest of him, groaning, "I told you we shouldn't use our powers!"
Lizz went over and helped him up, looking him over, "Everything seems to be in check... nothing missing... nothing dented... I'll give you a once-over when we get back home, just to be safe."
"What powers?!" Jay snapped at Zane's hindsight, waving his arms, "Where did they go?! We gotta go see Wu!"
"And how do you suppose we get back?!" Cole asked, starting to walk back the way they'd come, "We can't walk all the way there and no bus in their right mind goes out that far!"
"Even so, we don't have any bus tokens," Lizz added dryly, "So I guess we're getting some good exercise today. 's start walkin'."
A/N: *nervous laughter* ahahaha... I wanna keep updating but I don't wanna fall behind again :/
